Ant-Man 3 Will Be “Much Bigger And More Sprawling,” Director Says

Ant-Man series director Peyton Reed has provided an update on the next instalment in the MCU franchise about a tiny man who fights bigger people and also sometimes people his own size. On SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Reed teased that Ant-Man 3 will be “much bigger” than the first two, and it may not look the same visually.

“We are working away through the pandemic,” Reed said (via Collider). “There’s some really really really exciting things in store, none of which of course I could speak to you about right now, as is the Marvel way… I think the third Ant-Man movie is going to be a much bigger, more sprawling movie than the first two. It’s going to have a very different visual template.”

The Ant-Man franchise plays with the concept of the quantum realm, which turned out to be a very big deal for the wider MCU series as the Avengers fought against Thanos.

It’s not immediately clear what Reed might be referring to when he says “more sprawling” and “much bigger,” but it seems like Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) might travel beyond San Francisco for the third movie.

According to a report, Rick & Morty writer/co-producer Jeff Loveness has been tapped to pen the script for Ant-Man 3.

It’s unclear when Ant-Man 3 may begin filming, and also unknown is what impact the pandemic may have had on its production. Marvel is currently filming one of its next MCU films, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, in Australia.
