Rami Malek Joins The Next David O. Russell Movie, Adding To Its Impressive Cast

The next movie from director David O. Russell (The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook) continues to add to its impressive cast. Deadline reported that Oscar-winner Rami Malek has signed on for a role in the untitled movie.

Malek, who won an Oscar for his performance as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, joins a cast that includes Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, and Zoe Saldana.

The movie is an original idea that Russell came up with. The plot is being kept a secret for now, however, so we don’t know what it’s about.

Russell has been nominated for five Academy Awards in his career, two each for American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook, and one for The Fighter. His latest feature film was 2015’s Joy, which starred Jennifer Lawrence.

Russell was at one point attached to direct the Uncharted movie, but he eventually dropped out as part of the video game movie’s Development Hell.

There is no word on when Russell’s next movie will begin filming or when/how it will release. Given the cast that the director has assembled, it’s certainly a project we’ll be keeping an eye on.
