Avengers: Infinity War Finds Captain America and Black Widow as ‘Disillusioned’ Heroes

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War sees Thanos bringing the hurt as he vies to collect all six Infinity Stones in order to achieve godlike power, but Earth’s mightiest heroes aren’t exactly in a great position to stop him. The events of Captain America: Civil War left the team fractured, which has had a huge impact on two founding Avengers: Captain America and Black Widow.

During a visit to the Atlanta set of Infinity War, IGN and a small group of press talked to actors Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson about what their characters have been up to in-between movies, and let’s just say the picture they painted isn’t pretty.

“They’re more hardened,” Johansson said, describing how the two heroes have teamed up and gone underground so they can still help those who need it, despite the fact that they’re now doing it without backup or resources. “When you’re fighting for something that you know is important but is not being really recognized or supported by a larger organization or even like, society as a whole … it takes a certain toll, and you can get feelings about it in a way.”

Nintendo Switch Eshop Adds Kirby And More New Games This Week

A bunch of new games are now available for Nintendo Switch. Compared to recent weeks, this one is fairly light in terms of releases; only 15 new titles arrive for the console, but they include one of Nintendo’s most recognizable mascots.

Headlining this week’s Switch releases is Kirby’s Star Allies, the pink puffball’s first adventure for Nintendo’s hybrid console. Like most other Kirby games, Star Allies is a side-scrolling platformer. This time, however, players are able to explore alongside three companions (controlled either by the AI or other players) and use their powers together to progress through levels. You can learn more about the title in GameSpot’s Kirby Star Allies review and review roundup.

Also available this week is Splatoon 2: Starter Edition. This version of the colorful Switch shooter features the same content as the base game, but it comes bundled with two sticker sheets and a strategy guide to help teach newcomers the basics of the gameplay. The Starter Edition arrives ahead of Splatoon 2’s first paid DLC pack, the Octo Expansion, which releases this summer and adds 80 new single-player missions, along with the ability to play as an Octoling for the first time.

Some other notable titles out this week include the elegiac adventure game Last Day of June; the top-down shooter Tesla vs. Lovecraft; the fast-paced first-person platformer Clustertruck; the stylish physics puzzle game Neonwall; and the latest ACA Neo Geo game, Aero Fighters 3. You can find the full list of this week’s Nintendo Switch releases below.

In addition to all the new releases, a Square Enix sale is now underway on the Eshop. For a limited time, Switch owners can find discounts on some of the publisher’s recent titles for both Switch and 3DS, such as Lost Sphear, I Am Setsuna, and Spelunker Party. A number of other Switch games are also still on sale in the Eshop, including Enter the Gungeon, Floor Kids, and Mutant Mudds Collection. You can find the full list of Eshop deals on Nintendo’s website.

Abe’s Exoddus Remake Reveal Possibly Teased for March 20

Oddworld Inhabitants is teasing a reveal for March 20 that looks like it might just be related to their Abe’s Exoddus remake, Oddworld: Soulstorm.

Soulstorm was announced back in 2016 with an expected 2017 release date. It follows on from 2014’s New n’ Tasty, which was a remake of the original 1997 title, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.

The teaser is only a brief seven seconds long, but going through it frame-by-frame reveals some gorgeous concept art (including a piece for the Soulstorm brewery) as well as the words “explore his origins”.

EVE Online Players Pay Amazing Tribute to Stephen Hawking

Earlier this week, the family of theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking confirmed that he had passed away at his Cambridge home, aged 76. EVE Online players are paying tribute by lighting beacons across the game’s interstellar expanse.

Reddit user kairiola suggested that New Eden’s pilots light up cynosural beacons as a form of memorial.

The beacons are used to open jump bridges for warp speed travel, emitting a brilliant light. The sight of one would usually have nearby players’ hackles up, possibly denoting the imminent arrival of someone looking for a spot of ship-to-ship combat. But in this instance, they served as an awe-inspiring tribute to the loss of one of the world’s greatest minds.

Every Marvel Netflix Season Review (So Far)

Now that the second season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones has been released on Netflix (read our reviews of every Season 2 episode here), the darker, grittier, we-barely-acknowledge-we’re-part-of-the-MCU side of the MCU has six shows and eight seasons to its name. Not bad in just under three years (Daredevil debuted in April of 2015). But how do the shows compare with each other in terms of quality? Aside, of course, from Iron Fist likely being near the bottom of the heap?

Well, we’ve put together the following slideshow which breaks down the scores IGN gave to each season of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher so far. Scroll through for the full list…
