How To Play Play Ghost Recon: Wildlands For Free This Weekend

Looking for something to play this weekend and don’t want to spend any money? Ubisoft’s open-world action game Ghost Recon: Wildlands will be free this weekend on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but only for a limited time.

From September 20-23, Ubisoft will offer the full game, as well as some of its PvP and PvE missions, to everyone on all platforms for free. Presumably the progress you make during the free weekend will carry forward to the full game should you decide to pick it up.

And if you do want to purchase the game, Ubisoft just announced two new versions of the game, including the Year 2 Gold Edition ($80) and the Ultimate Edition ($120). The Ultimate Edition features the Year 1 season pass that comes with the expansions Narco Road and Fallen Ghosts. It also includes the Year 2 season pass, as well as a variety of in-game extras

The Year 2 Gold Edition, meanwhile, comes with the base game and the Year 2 season pass.

In other news, Wildlands got a new update this week, Update 16, that added a new “mood” matchmaking system that allows players to select a particular “mood” for the match they are looking for. The update also adds other quality of life updates and features.

For more on Wildlands, you can check out GameSpot’s feature in the video embed above in which we talk about giving the game a second chance.

Captain Marvel Trailer Breakdown: Brie Larson, Carol Danvers, And All The Details

We’re still six months away from the release of the next Marvel Studios movie, but recently, the first trailer for Captain Marvel dropped, giving us an idea what this movie is going to be about.

The film follows Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) a pilot who receives superpowers and becomes part of an elite military team in the outreaches of space under a new name, Captain Marvel. However, the hero heads back to Earth, but trouble follows her from her fight in the cosmos.

Aside from Larson, Captain Marvel stars DeWanda Wise, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Lee Pace, Clark Gregg, Samuel Jackson, and Ben Mendelsohn. The film will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The two directors previously collaborated on the TV series Billions, Room 104, and The Affair.

We’re taking a look at the new trailer and breaking it down, scene by scene, to see what we can learn about the movie. From superpowers to Skrulls to Nick Fury with both eyes, this new trailer packs a punch–one for an old lady on a subway. Here’s what we learned from the new trailer.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 6, 2019. For more, check out our guide to Captain Marvel‘s cast.

Captain Marvel Trailer Update: Everything We Know About The Movie

The first trailer for Captain Marvel is finally here, and fans couldn’t be more excited about Marvel’s next movie, which doesn’t hit theaters until Spring 2019. The first female-focused solo film promises some action both in space and right here on Earth. Now, with the release of more information about the film, official set photos, the new trailer, and a breakdown, a wider picture for the movie has been painted.

Again, it’s early, but this film looks exceptionally promising for a few reasons. While many Marvel fans are still trying to get over the ending of Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel won’t be a follow-up, as it takes place at least two decades prior, during the ’90s. In addition, the movie will jump viewers right into the action, skipping out on the origin story. There are also a few connections to other Marvel movies that we’ve noticed from casting announcements as well as set photos.

We’re keeping a running list of every Captain Marvel related announcement, confirmation, and plot detail as they trickle in over the next six months. There have been a few updates recently, including who Ben Mendelsohn and Lashana Lynch are playing in the upcoming film. Keep checking back as we plan on keeping you up-to-date on the latest Captain Marvel news up until its release.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019. It will be followed sometime in April with the release of Avengers 4.

Revealed on the official Bandai Namco Twitter account, Dragon Ball’s Goku will appear in his blue SSGSS (Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan) form. Though unconfirmed, it’s likely that Goku Super Saiyan Blue will simply be a powered up version of the Goku fighter, and not a separate fighter on the roster.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Reveals Box Art And New Screens

Kingdom Hearts 3 is inching its way closer to release after a long wait, and Square Enix has released a batch of new media to sate fans in the meantime. The box art is the centerpiece of the new additions, with an artful look at the wide cast of characters who have been developed over the series’ lifespan. It’s joined by a batch of eight new screenshots, showing a lot of Baymax.

The world of Big Hero Six is the latest to be revealed for Kingdom Hearts 3, among the smorgasbord of Disney and Pixar worlds. It joins other new additions to the series thanks largely to the amount of movies that have released since Kingdom Hearts 2, including the worlds from Tangled, Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, and more.

After a 13-year wait for a new addition to the series, expectations are riding high for KH3. Square Enix seems to recognize this, and creator Tetsuya Nomura shared his thoughts on delivering a satisfying game that delivers for the fans.

Destiny 2’s Go-To Gun In Gambit, Sleeper Simulant, Is In Line For A Nerf

One of the best additions in Destiny 2‘s Forsaken DLC is Gambit, a new mode that blends PvP and PvE. Two teams of four are separated into their own arenas to fight AI-controlled enemies, but periodically one person can invade the other side, killing enemy players. If you’ve played Gambit for any length of time, you’ve undoubtedly seen the weapon of choice for a huge portion of invaders: Sleeper Simulant. It’s used so often not just because it’s fun to use, but because it’s incredibly effective–and Bungie is finally ready to do something about its popularity.

The Exotic linear fusion rifle, which was introduced in the Curse of Osiris DLC, has long been an excellent weapon. It’s effective in both PvE and PvP, but whereas a few deaths to it can be brushed off in Crucible, its use in Gambit can be devastating. It features a perk that allows it to overpenetrate enemies and refract off hard surfaces, but a single hit with it, even at long ranges, is enough to wipe out a target. Carrying a few rounds of ammo and timing your invasion well can mean wiping out an entire enemy team, causing them to lose a great deal of progress.

Your feelings about Sleeper Simulant may depend on whether or not you have access to one. Whatever the case, there has been no shortage of complaints about the weapon dating back to the Gambit trial that took place just before Forsaken’s release. Bungie has now finally spoken up about it, indicating some kind of change or nerf is on the way.

“We’re aware of reports that Sleeper Simulant feels too strong in Gambit,” Bungie said on Twitter. “The Sandbox team is looking at potential changes to address this. Our goal is to retain the strength of the weapon, but tune it so it doesn’t feel to be the only viable power weapon in Gambit. Stay tuned.”

This was followed up by another tweet from design lead Josh Hamrick: “Sandbox has been operating with the goal of not employing nerfs when there are other methods of tweaking the game so that there isn’t just 1 correct choice. That said, nerfs will still be needed from time to time. We promise to be judicious when & where we choose to employ them.”

At this point, we have no idea how the gun will be changed or how other linear fusion rifles won’t step right up in its place if it’s nerfed. In the meantime, a new Destiny 2 update is out now that addresses some other bugs and complaints, including the relocation of Petra to a much more convenient location in the Dreaming City. Iron Banner is also now live–don’t be surprised to see Sleeper Simulant show up prominently there, too.

Pokemon Go: September’s Community Day Is This Week, Here Are All The Details

The next Pokemon Go Community Day is nearly here. This month’s event takes place this coming Saturday, September 22, and as usual, it’ll give players a chance to capture rare Pokemon and take advantage of other in-game rewards for a brief window of time.

Live previous Community Days, this month’s event will be held around the globe, but it will only run for three hours, and its timing will vary depending on which part of the world you live in. You can find the full schedule for each major region, as taken from the official Pokemon website, below.

Every Community Day stars a special “featured Pokemon” that will spawn much more frequently in the wild than it typically does for the duration of the event. This month, the featured Pokemon is the Gold and Silver starter Chikorita. On top of appearing in greater numbers than usual, you’ll also have your first chance of encountering a Shiny Chikorita during the event.

Each Community Day also provides an opportunity to get a Pokemon with a special move that it cannot typically learn in the game. This time around, any Bayleef that you manage to evolve into Meganium before the Community Day ends will learn the powerful Grass-type attack Frenzy Plant, even if they were caught outside of the event.

Niantic will also provide a few other bonuses as an incentive to take part in this month’s Community Day. First, you’ll earn triple the usual amount of XP for capturing Pokemon. Lure Modules will also last longer than they normally do; any that are used during the event will remain active for three hours, rather than their typical 30-minute duration.

While you’re out participating in the latest Community Day, you may also have a chance of encountering a Mewtwo. As part of the Ultra Bonus Event, the Legendary Psychic-type will appear in regular Raid Battles for the first time from September 20 – October 23. Previously, Mewtwo could only be found through the invite-only EX Raids.

Destiny 2: Forsaken — How And Where To Do The Ascendant Challenge (Week 3)

The most recent weekly reset for Destiny 2 has brought more than just the return of Iron Banner and a new update. For those who have reached the Dreaming City, another Ascendant Challenge is now available. Here’s where to find it and how to complete it.

As with the previous weeks, the basic structure is the same. First, you’ll want to be sure to buy this week’s bounty from Petra–who, as of update 2.0.3, is thankfully now located right at the landing zone. Once you have that, you’ll need to acquire a Tincture of Queensfoil (more on that later). Use that, and you’ll receive a buff that allows you to see a Taken portal in a specific location.

For Week 3, this portal can be found in the Spire of Keres; you can see its location in the video above. Jump through it, and you’ll head to the Ascendant Plane, where you have to complete a specific challenge.

This time around, you’ll have to ascend a tower made of rocks while trying not to die. You’ll have to deal with enemies sniping you in the distance, as well as portals that will try to blast you off the tower to your death. Time your platforming carefully, make it to the top, and you’ll have to kill some enemies, followed by a Taken boss. Take them all out to complete the Ascendant Challenge. You’ll earn a chest as a reward, but it’s the bounty itself that makes this worth doing, as it’ll earn you Powerful gear. As with previous instances of the Ascendant Challenge, it’s not easy to complete, so you’ll want to come well-equipped with high Power level gear.

As noted above, the prerequisite for doing an Ascendant Challenge–aside from access to the Dreaming City, which only comes after finishing the Forsaken campaign–is a Tincture of Queensfoil. These can be obtained through chests and Public Events in the Dreaming City, but that’s not the only means.

The video below details a location you can go to trade 50 Baryon Boughs, the planetary material you earn in the Dreaming City, for a Tincture of Queensfoil. If you’re desperate to get your hands on one to try the Ascendant Challenge, follow our video guide to help you find your way to the spot where you can trade with Huginn.
