I'm sure a video game in the Viking era will be fun, but I would prefer the ultimate Assassins Creed experience. I would love to see the original style of the series applied with the new technology available. I played Origins and it was an enjoyable game, but it didn't really strike me as AC and I didn't want to see that become the standard for the series. I would love to see this series go back to being about assassinations and not bloated historic war simulators.

Why'd they make the default gender female? This doesn't make the game more appealing. When I play a game about Vikings, I wanna be a badass Viking dude from the 9th century!! I don't wanna be a historically false Viking chick. Ruins the immersion. Pretty stupid to market the game with a female character. It's not edgy or progressive to do so. Just makes the developers look like they're kowtowing to fringe elements of the gaming community.

@Loki_Ragnarok: Maybe you didn't know that many of the Vikings in battle had more Ladies in it than you thought. I watched Josh Gates from Expedition Unknown when He was in the Viking battlefield and there was a lot of Ladies in it, and at the end it was a Lady as the Last One Standing. Every single one of those hardy Ladies and Gentlemen was taken down and She was the winner that year. Let's all check it out to see how it ends in the next Viking Battlefield.

@Loki_Ragnarok: There should have been a choice. I have no probs playing as a woman - but as you said, Viking battles were all about brute strength.

Should have had the choice...

@mpl911: There is... Eivor can be male or female, in fact apparently you can change at any time (unlike Odyssey). I'm not sure what the "default" gender is, but presumably male, because this is Ubisoft we're talking about. It took them about a dozen games to give the option of a female main character (not counting Liberation, which was a originally a mobile game, and Syndicate, in which you're still forced to play as Jacob a lot of the time).

Personally, I'd like to see the character customisation extend beyond mere tattoos and hairstyle, but at least it look like we'll be able to fully customise the members of our raiding parties.

@mpl911: I'm with you on that. It's too bad they couldn't set the character up like they did with the Mass Effect series so you can choose your sex and design the face as you want it. I'd like to be able to design the body as well, with a Super Models body or a really large giant with a big beer belly. And tattoos will be great if you could get to choose the ones you like or design them yourself. That and how you will have an affect on what you do in character as either a Paladin or a Renegade or as as neutral as possible to make Good and Evil equal (to much AD&D had that effect on me). And finally to top it all off they could make the game end in a gazillion different ways like Bioshock did. THAT would make everyone play it a gazillion more times.
