Anthem's Future Is Up In The Air

This game has awesome potential! I enjoyed flying around in my customized Javelin and combat was fierce. However I do feel like it needs a lot more polish to live up to what it should be. I think the Feb 22 release date is too soon.

Played the VIP demo as a Javelin Ranger and damn. this game is like Devil May Cry on steroids. The boss battles are absolutely epic and when the action kicks off, it's pretty insane.

I dunno what game everyone else was playing but I thought this demo was killer.

Its like clothes, if you dont like them in the store trying them on, you wont like them at home.

So theres an open demo next weekend. If youre on the fence, give it a go. I think by then they'll have most of the kinks worked out.

I think to be safe with co-op games like this, what I guess will end up being the 'Destiny model', we have to tamper our expectations. These co-op games are fun, I have a blast going in with squads, shooting stuff, and looting, but I also go in expecting lazy story development. If the story and characters for this DO end up being boring and typical, it will be a shame. BioWare has proven they can craft intricate worlds with great characters, and it shouldn't be limited to single player games. At the same time, we're only now getting great co-op games like Destiny, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and Far Cry. Even if this game only lasts a couple months for me, it will be a worthwhile couple of months because it sounds like the game plays great, and that seems to be the most important factor when it comes to co-op. I don't need the game to be this grand, genre shattering experience, I just need to have fun. As long as the game is fun, it's money well spent.

Played it, and it isn't really all that much like Destiny. It reminded me of Warframe + the Division, honestly. I believe it will steal some players from all three of these games though, at least for a while.

During the demo, the infinite load screen and some crazy glitches in free roam were the main issues I saw. Never had issues when playing story missions or with an online squad.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time with it (glitches and load issues aside). I think it's the kind of game that some players will absolutely love and others will tire of quickly.

Don't go into it thinking "Destiny clone"... like I said, it's more like Warframe combined with the Division or even GR:Wildlands.

after the game crashed several times... horrid load times... and low frame rate on the xbox one... i cancelled my pre-order. The game play was boring and typical. Flying was the ONLY cool thing. pass.

A.I. & missions are HORID!! This is a beautiful game to look at but would not pay full price for this lackluster piece. I was so amped for this game and EA has ruined it, why Bioware is attached to this company is beyond me.

Destiny with jetpacks. Yawn.

I liked this game

Most co-op games handle story pretty poorly. Warframe actually does a really good job of separating the story content from the rest of the game. Many story missions are solo only but you can do them at your own pace. After the first few missions, you're basically left to your own devices (which has its negatives as well, there's a huge learning curve) & you're not forced into sitting through cutscenes when you really just want to have fun with your friends.

I'm not writing this game off yet, I'll keep watching & see how it pans out. I'm definitely not pre-ordering & even a launch day purchase is probably a bad idea. Most AAA games these days get a lot better a few weeks or even months in. They launch with bugs, balance problems & not enough servers to handle the load. Not to mention some games are now adding microtransactions after reviewers have already scored them. I'll let the suckers who pre-order beta test the game for me & I can make a decision based on how the game is looking once people get their hands on it.

I'm super interested to try Anthem, but I'm totally going to rent it first. I'm coming to a pretty good stopping point with Destiny (for a while, anyway), so it'd be cool if Anthem was good.

Can't wait for Cyberpunk 2077!

Jokes aside, after fallout 76 and star wars battlefront 2, companies are treading on a minefield. If this is bad, it'll really shrink EA hard.

Nice video! Captured my feelings on the VIP demo. Extremely fun to move around and fight. It truly feels unique in that way. But not really much to "keep me playing". It is absolutely worth trying though, demo-wise.

UP IN THE AIR SO HIGH THAT ITS BARELY VISIBLE

I thought the slice of story told at the hub was pretty great. The one guy that said he didn't connect or care about the characters is a poor criticism because we are literally dropped into the middle of the game, of course you won't connect, it's like starting the middle of a book. That said I did connect with the guy who gets affected by the artifact you find.

The missions were on par with every loot game I've ever played and I can see the cycle being successful if they do seasonal content like other successful loot games.

The stronghold was the best of the maps we could play in terms of showcasing coop and difficulty.

I got used to flying with the mouse and ended up being able to pull off very precise movements. I get the complaints but it ended up not being an issue for me after a bit of gameplay.

Colossus was a really fantastic javelin to play. I love the weapons and overall design of it. Ranger was meh by comparison.

PRO:

-Verticality/Flying

-Gameplay

-Customization

-Loot

-Story(limited to just the short bits we got)

-Colossus

CON:

-Initial day of server issues

-Map infinite loading bug (these two compound the frustration)

-Hub walk speed

-Sound issue(could be a local issue, not sure, almost like the game couldn't handle overlapping sounds)

-Ranger Javelin is boring in this slice of the game

-Loading screens(these didn't happen at all in the Stronghold, but frequently occurred in the missions).

Good game, they fixed everything last night - it was really fun to play. The article is old news.

Look forward to the full game release.

I have no interest in this game, if for only the fact, if this flops, EA can be in some very big trouble. Everything they seem to touch these days end up in a boondoggle.

Sports games are copy paste, relying on FUT and MUT to bail them out, but those games aren't doing well. Battleloot 2 and Battlefail V sunk. Mass Effect, caput. What else they have left?

All at the same time, the only talent they seem to have, is being able to piss off large numbers of their base and the game community as a whole.

Seemingly, their shares are half what they were in July.

Any chance those rumors Microsoft may buy them over may end to be true? I mean, Microsoft needs games, and EA needs better management.

The game is fun. Got used to the flying after a bit on PC and loved playing as the storm javelin. My only gripe is the movement speed in fort tarsus. It’s way too slow and the sound effects of your feet moving do not match the speed at which you move. They really need to make movement faster there. Other than that I like what I played so far.
