Fallout 76 - Early Review Impressions

Fallout has mutated to include online multiplayer, but the compromises made to support it mean the experience isn't particularly glowing whether you have friends or not.

My son has the day off and wanted to play the game. Finds out there's a 48GB update to fix some bugs. The patch notes read like a 1GB update - the fixes are not that substantial. Instead of downloading patches and applying them, it looks almost as if you are re-downloading the whole freaking game. This being Bethesda, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. It's downloading at 70Mbs and it's going to take hours. Unless the patch added 10x more storage, I'm not interested anyway. Should have called the game Pack-rat Simulator. All you do is manage storage. Building a base is pointless because odds are you will be griefed and stuff destroyed or someone will pick the same spot and you have to move the next time you login which is risky because it's glitched as heck and you need the exact same landscape to move if you manged to blueprint everything and didn't get the glitch where all your stuff disappears. The camp system is broken. Passive mode is broken. Storage and carrying capacity is terrible. You have to eat 50lb of food and a pool of water way too often and the food you carry weights a ton and rots fast. The survival part in a survival game is supposed to be fun, not tedious. I'm surprised you don't have to visit the loo in the game every 30 seconds and risk snake bites in the worst place possible since you have to have tea and a slice every 5 minutes.

The only good thing about this game, is the map detail in general. So if you want a walking simulator, go ahead.

Other than that, something must be seriously wrong with you if you enjoy this game, but then again, I mean, people play fortnight and crap like that....

The world tbh doesn't even really feel like it has been hit by Nuclear fallout considering there are 10+ enemies around every corner. Maybe I'm being overly critical but in Fallouts prior there was a feeling of emptiness and desolation at times while you travelled to different locations backed up by the eerie ambient soundtracks which would occasionally play in the background:
