Eh, smells like Asure desperation to me and Sith Spencer is mighty proud to have the big S bow down to him. MS has the resources to put out the games that they should have from the beginning, should be interesting how this plays out in the oncoming months. If streaming is the future, then I am outta here & will just play the old games from here on end. I would have been more shocked & happy to hear a combo SwitchX Box combo, where the 2 join forces & provide all the games under one store & one online gameplay. The switch screen can be connected to the XDock and we can all play Mario & Halo together. Sony's single player games are coming to XB someday anyways, if not the PC at the very least.

It's a good idea. Sony would not have to invest in their own cloud platform and Microsoft would benefit from Sony's additional creativity and talent. If this leads into more cross-play between both platforms, both would benefit from that as well.

The only reason we are getting partially cross play is because otherwise how would Sony stay in the business, Microsoft is rich, but Sony isn't. The only reason why were able to stay here long was because of the success the ps4 had, but sharing just enough for cloud because of google's new competition, is enough... answer me this: "if have a pc, would you even use or buy a console if you had the chance to play their exclusives on pc?" or "would you play games from epic store if they weren't exclusives?"

@ryuu_mnk: Both Sony and Microsoft would each benefit from cross-play. It's synergetic.

@ryuu_mnk: LOL. Microsoft is not rich because of the xbox. If you compare everything that they do to a Sony's gaming console, then Microsoft failed at consoles. Sony has the have to have console. If it wasn't for Windows OS, there would probably be no xbox. On another note, I would like to see them join forces and make one console and force Nintendo out of the market. Nintendo turns into SEGA and now we don't have to buy their crappy hardware just to play Pokemon. To answer your question, exclusives only exist to sell consoles. If there were no such thing as an exclusive, there would only be a need for PC. Ask yourself this though, Why is Microsoft willing to help SONY? Because Sony has THE gaming success that they don't have. Microsoft will profit off of Sony's success and hopefully obtain Apple/Google figures.

@allencc3: I agree with you in a sense.

Sony lacks the cloud platform that Microsoft has spent years developing and won't have to invest $1B+ to create it.

Microsoft, as you stated, is lacking with certain nuances in the console market. I would agree.

Both lack something the other has, which is why I think this is a good agreement.

@ecs33: More importantly, neither Microsoft nor Sony will be able to go toe-to-toe with Google Stadia. This is why their partnership is so important. They are both planning to not let Google take over the console market. PSNow has been around for some time, but Google is stating 4K@60 fps and even 8K gaming. Be honest with yourself and realize that Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime have made DVD players and rental shops disappear. There is literally no point for them anymore. Once the game streaming era is among us, it will be risky for a company to manufacture a console to compete with the ability to play games in 4K without having to buy hardware.

@allencc3: Game streaming will one day become the norm that's for sure but I don't see this happening for a few more decades (and maybe not in our lifetimes).

Looks like this cloud stuff is really coming into the forefront.

If cloud gaming becomes mainstream, I don’t know how I truly feel about that.

Lol looks like MS won the next Gen! Sony would have never done this unless they had to face a hard truth. I'm not sure what it is but for them to publicly announce this means they needed something MS had and MS didn't have to partner with them. Lord knows Sony and Sony fans throw shade at MS with Every given opportunity. This is a win for the gamers but this comment section sure is thin ?! Where are all the MS haters today?

@alucard1001: perhaps your right, who knows? Still though if this is the case then keeping Sony in the game only encourages healthy competition, one company in control could single handedly wreck the gaming industry.

It's hard to tell what this really means right now, but I'm guessing it's the area where Sony have struggled.

It could be groundbreaking for the future or just around platform support, either way it looks good for both parties, and potentially gamers too.

@blondie_82: Yep. But not only Google. Amazon and Apple will likely enter the market at sometime. The relationship with MS makes the most sense from an operations standpoint because of the flow of development is shared between them.
