Top New Games Out This Week On Switch, PS4, Xbox One, And PC -- July 8-14

This week you can revisit fan favorites like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Warhammer: Vermintide 2, and enjoy a new adventure with Octopath Traveler.

Last week, New Releases proved that July does indeed have some video games to play. This week there are even more, although many of them are re-releases or ports. But if you never played Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on Wii U, here's your chance to try it on 3DS and Switch. The Switch is also getting a new JRPG with Octopath Traveler, while fellow JRPG Shining Resonance Refrain comes west. Meanwhile, 20XX makes its console debut, as does Warhammer: Vermintide 2.

Shining Resonance is making its western debut as Shining Resonance Refrain, and it's bringing some new content to the current generation. Refrain Mode presents a totally separate "what if" side story, and you'll have two new party members to use in battle. As you might expect, you can totally date your party members too.

20XX -- July 17 (PS4, Switch) / July 11 (Xbox One)

Available on: PS4, Xbox One, Switch

If you just can't wait for the Mega Man X Legacy Collection, 20XX is here to fill the void. It's got tight platforming and big bosses, but the stages are all randomly generated. Permadeath is also a threat--if you die, that's it. Fortunately, heroes Nina and Ace can purchase upgrades to make each new run a little easier.

Also making its console debut this week is Vermintide 2. Think Left 4 Dead, but the the hideous monsters of Warhammer instead of zombies. Each character can also specialize in different classes, so every player will find their role in battle. Switch owners are also getting a new JRPG experience this week with Octopath Traveler, which stars eight different protagonists, as you might have guessed from the title.
