Lost all interest at "Rage 1 was a boring open world game". Entitled game media projecting their opinions as fact. Rage had a disappointing ending, but the meat of the game itself was super satisfying gun play, racing and set piece design.

@Krakn3Dfx: Rage 1 was a boring game. Tried it when it first came out and I hated it. Then I bought it a year or 2 later, thinking maybe I just didn’t give it a chance. It still sucked ass.

@Krakn3Dfx: The ending was disappointing for me, because I finally got this awesome gun that was utterly devastating, and then the game abruptly ends. I assume this is the bad ending that people keep talking about?

But bad ending or not, Rage was still a very decent game, and by far the most beautiful looking open world FPS game on the XBOX360 and PS3. I think it was the only 60FPS open world game on the last gen? Anyways, I'm really looking forward to Rage 2.

I for one am super excited for this release. I was a really big fan of the original Rage and Avalanche/id sure seems to be tackling the sequel with the right approach, retaining- and in many instances expanding upon- all the stuff that made the first game so cool while also embracing advancements in the genre made since Rage's release to flesh out and more fully realize a huge, fascinating, and seamless open world. I was a little worried at first that the switch to Avalanche as the lead developer would have Rage 2 feeling more like Just Cause than an id shooter. I've been happy to hear from a lot of coverage, however, that Rage 2 sure seems like a perfect marriage of 2 strong developers whose strengths compliment each other well. Rage 2 looks to maintain the punchy and overall best-in-class shooting mechanics of id while mixing in the dynamic open world and wild physics mechanics that Avalanche is known for. While I rarely do it anymore, this is a pre-order for me; I can't wait!

@howlingfantod: Yes, I agree with everything you said. I liked Rage 1 and liked the racing aspect a lot. I like how they have kept and expanded the visceral nature of the game and having it fun at the same time as being a gory shooter.

I have always been a huge fan of open-worlds and this one should be real fun. I loved Avalanche's Mad Max and i'm hoping they kept those car physics as that was and still is one of the best driving open-world games and having those mechanics in Rage 2 would be awesome.

I too am really looking forward to this. I have my pre-order ready on Steam and I can't wait to start beefing my character up and reducing baddies to red mist :)

Being underwhelmed and doing a complete 180 are two different things entirely. Are you saying that Gamespot was previously planning to give Rage 2 a review score of 5 or less and are now planning to give a score of 9 or more?

@jsprunk: They basically didn't say anything really. TLDW: Some dudes are a little bit more interested in RAGE 2 after having played it some more.

@Flav333: Rage 1 was not a good game. I’m amazed they’re making a sequel.
