Jon Favreau Blesses Us With Behind-the-Scenes Baby Yoda Footage

Before you get your fill of Baby Yoda in Episode 4 of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, or before you watch the chapter a second time, check out this terrific Thanksgiving Instagram post from series creator/writer Jon Favreau!

As you know, on set, Baby Yoda was a practical puppet, though for safety reasons, scenes with the adorable critter were shot twice (once without the physical Yoda) in case the puppet didn’t work and they needed to use CGI. It was a move that caused director Werner Herzog, who plays The Client on the series, to call the crew “cowards.”

Harley Quinn: Season 1 Spoiler-Free Review

Note: this is a mostly spoiler-free review of Harley Quinn: Season 1, which airs on DC Universe weekly beginning on Friday, November 29. You can also check out our previous Season 1 premiere review. Depending on reader interest, we may circle back and do a full-spoiler review after the season finale airs in February 2020, so let us know in the comments if that’s something you’d like to see.

Harley Quinn represents an important test for DC Universe, as it’s the first wholly original animated series to debut on the streaming service. Terrific though it was, Young Justice: Outsiders hardly qualifies as an original project. Luckily, DCU passes that test with a fun, wacky and very foul-mouthed romp that proves what comic readers have know for years – Harley Quinn is at her best when she’s a free and independent woman.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Will Release In China, Despite Low Popularity

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker has been confirmed for release in China, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. It’s due out on December 20, which is the same day the film is releasing in the rest of the world. This means that Star Wars fans in China will be able to enjoy the movie along with everyone else.

This is significant for a few reasons. China puts limits on the number of Hollywood movies allowed into the country each year–it used to be 34, but that number has been quietly relaxed in recent years as Hollywood films make huge money in the country. Some Hollywood franchises have found enormous success in China, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Fast & Furious movies (Furious 7 outgrossed The Force Awakens outside of America). The growing importance of China to Hollywood has led to an increase in Chinese co-financed productions, such as The Meg and Terminator: Dark Fate (which was made largely because of the success of Terminator: Genisys in China, but unfortunately has not performed well.)

It’s also significant because China has been far less exposed to Star Wars, with the original trilogy not releasing in the country until 2015, leading up to the release of The Force Awakens. Rogue One and The Last Jedi also performed poorly in the country upon release. However, Disney and Tecent have teamed up to release several Star Wars novels in Chinese for the first time, hoping to spark enthusiasm for the end of the saga. It remains to be seen whether the movie will make a significant profit in China or not.

The Rise of Skywalker is not expected to struggle at all in the USA, with (conservative) estimates putting its opening weekend at around $200 million. The Force Awakens remains the highest grossing release ever in the USA, bringing in $936,662,225 domestically.

2019 Black Friday Steam Sale Is Live, See The Best Deals

The weekend has finally arrived. Black Friday weekend has begun, and for many PC gamers, that means only one thing: another round of ridiculous game sales on Steam. Valve’s storefront is once again loaded with huge discounts on some of the biggest (and smallest) games of the year join a handful of PC games on sale elsewhere.

Some noteworthy sales include deals on newer games like Code Vein ($42, down from $60), Gears 5 ($30, down from $60), The Surge 2 ($30, down from $50), Void Bastards ($22.49, from $25), and plenty more.

Post-apocalyptical first-person shooter Rage 2 has a pretty steep discount right now, going from $60 to $19.79, a total savings of 67 percent. Elsewhere, a bunch of indie games are up for grabs with some solid discounts. These include Dead Cells ($17.49), Forager ($16), Terraria ($5), The Escapists 2 ($6), and many more. A bulk of Rockstar Games’ library is also on sale, such as Grand Theft Auto V ($15 USD), Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas ($5.24), Max Payne 3 ($7), L.A. Noire ($7) and others.

Steam also has a smorgasbord of JRPGs on sale. The list is extensive, but some noteworthy titles are Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy XI, God Eater 3, Romancing SaGa 3, Tales of Berseria, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, and more.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Patch Adds More Customization, Gender Swapping, And More

Ghost Recon Breakpoint has received another major patch, less than a month after update 1.0.3 released. If you’re logging in for the new raid, you’ll find that there’s a big new download to get through. On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One the 1.0.3.1 update weighs in at 11.3 GB, whereas PC players will have to download 8.5 GB. Once they do, they’ll find that there are now more customization options in the game than ever before–and new players will especially feel the benefits.

At the beginning of the game, post-patch, players will have 40 more items unlocked by default than they did before. This means that there will be more customization options than before, as you’ll be able to kit your Ghost out with the following items right away:

  • 5 vests (5.11 TACTEC Plate Carrier, 5.11 VTAC LBE, Blackhawk STRIKE Cutaway, Crye AVS1000, Blackhawk Strike Shoulder Pad)
  • 5 pants (5.11 Apex, 5.11 Tactical Stryke Pant, Jeans, Cargo, Chino)
  • 5 headgear (Crye Airframe, Reversed Cap, Military Cap, Berret, ACH Helmet)
  • 2 gloves (S&S WetWorX, S&S WetWorX Assault)
  • 4 boots (Under Armour Alegent, Under Armour Valsetz RTS, Under Armour Speed Freek, Under Armour Shoes Infiltrator)
  • 4 gear paints (Gray Solid, Red Solid, Blue Solid, Coyote Brown Solid)
  • 1 shirt (Vasily Sniper)
  • 1 eyewear (Gatorz Magnum Sunglasses)
  • 1 karambit (Casper)
  • 4 emotes (Shotgun, Pistol, Rifle, Sniper)
  • 4 emblems (Red Fox, Lion, Grizzly Bear, Golden Eagle)
  • 4 card banners (Urban Tech, Mountain, Swamp, Coastal)

Additionally, players can now change the appearance of their face, as well as their gender, at any time from the menu. This will allow for a greater level of customization, and it means that you’re not stuck if you decide, a few hours in, that you don’t like your character. This is, thankfully, a far cry from the Ubisoft that once argued that letting you play as a woman in Assassin’s Creed Unity would double the amount of work involved for the animation team.

Beyond this is a huge list of bug fixes and additions, including improved physics and handling for the Spider vehicle, a fix for an issue that was causing players to lose items when switching from PvP to PvE, and improvements to adaptive magazine pouches on tactical vests.

Ghost Recon Breakout is discounted during a few Black Friday sales. You can get the game digitally on both the Xbox Store and Ubisoft Store for 50% off, and it’s also discounted on PlayStation 4.

Rise of Skywalker: JJ Abrams Explains Why the Knights of Ren Are Back

The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams has opened up about his decision to bring back the Knights of Ren for Episode IX, saying he felt they deserved more screen time in the Star Wars universe.

In an interview with Esquire, Abrams admitted that he had a lot of ideas for the elusive group of masked warriors after their brief introduction in The Force Awakens, so he wanted to expand on their story while he still had the opportunity.
