Former WWE Star CM Punk Could Be Returning To Wrestling

Former WWE world champion CM Punk is reportedly in ongoing talks for a return to the ring, according to a Fightful report. Sean Ross Sapp had tweeted out that he has heard about Punk’s return to the ring and that he’s more likely looking to debut in All Elite Wrestling, rather than return to WWE.

In Sapp’s report on his Patreon, he’s very clear that while there are talks, a contract hasn’t been signed, nor has a time table or return date been set. Creative plans aren’t even in motion at this point. The report just noted that Punk and an unnamed company official have been talking about him wrestling once again.

The report stated Fightful hasn’t confirmed the development with Punk or AEW officials, the outlet has recently been told that top-tier WWE management believes that he’ll go to All Elite Wrestling, rather than resigning with WWE.

Punk was released from WWE in 2014 after signing with the company in 2006 and debuted on their newly-relaunched ECW brand. He eventually fought twice in the UFC with an 0-1 record–his second bout’s result was overturned to a no-contest–and has acted in movies like Girl on the Third Floor and Rabid. He will next appear in the pro wrestling drama series Heels on Starz.

Back in 2019, Punk crashed an independent show wearing a mask but hasn’t had an official match since leaving WWE. It’s also worth noting that other companies have been said that they’re interested in Punk, but no specific offers have reportedly been made yet.
