Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Guide: How To Unseal The Well Of Urdr For The “Well-Traveled” Quest

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla connects the Viking age to the deep Assassin’s Creed lore, which means there are plenty of secrets to uncover. One such mystery is the pathway to the Well of Urdr in Asgard, as part of the Well-Traveled quest. The way is blocked by gates that respond to beams of light, and you know what that means: it’s time for a mirror puzzle.

As you may expect if you’ve encountered mirror puzzles in other games, the goal is simply to position the beam of light towards a node that will unlock the gates. As the puzzles get trickier, you’ll need to split or reflect the beams to make them hit more than one target. What makes the Well of Urdr puzzle especially tricky is that the cave is very dark, so you won’t necessarily be able to see the entire solution clearly. That means you’ll have to use some more trial and error to get the positioning right–but knowing where to look should help.

The first light beam is easy, since it simply introduces you to the concept. When you progress to the second part of the puzzle, aim the light source upward, toward the back of the room between the two large trees. That reflector will split the beam into two separate beams running in opposite directions.

From there, it’s just a matter of connecting those two beams to their closest neighbors until they reach the final node. For one beam, that means aiming downward to the ground level and then over to the nearest node. For the other, it means wrapping the beams around a series of platforms to reach the ground level.

Once you’ve connected all the nodes have connected, you can jump in to collect the water. And that’s all there is to it!

Overwatch Launches Symmetra’s Restoration Challenge Event

Overwatch will be holding a new event titled Symmetra’s Restoration Challenge, and it will center around the game’s light-bending architech. From November 17-30, players can obtain seven new sprays, a player icon, and a new Epic skin titled Marammat Symmetra. You can unlock these rewards by winning in Quick Play, Competitive Play, or Arcade modes. Three wins net you the player icon, six wins give you a new spray, and nine wins award you with Symmetra’s new skin.

The in-game event accompanies a short story called “Stone by Stone.” Written by Christie Golden, the new storyline features Symmetra on an expedition to find “understanding and compassion within” and subsequently give back “harmony and order to those in need.”

“Stone by Stone” starts with Symmmetra being sent to fix Vishkar Corp’s mistake of destroying a sacred statue of Aurora. There she connects with Tekhartha Zenyatta to better understand Aurora, the omnic religion, and how she can make up for the statue’s destruction. The short story is the second piece of media Blizzard has commissioned for Overwatch’s Architect of Light. It follows a Symmetra-centric comic titled “A Better World,” which introduces Symmetra, some of her history, and contextualizes her place in Vishkar Corp.

You can also get extra sprays by watching Twitch streamers. Two hours equals one spray, four hours equals two sprays, and six hours equal three sprays. Blizzard hasn’t revealed which streams will qualify yet, so stay tuned for that information.

Blizzard is still working on Overwatch 2, but a release date is currently unknown. The company said Echo would be the last new hero before Overwatch’s sequel drops. BlizzCon takes place on February 21, so we’ll likely hear more news about Overwatch 2 then.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Is Series’ “Biggest Game Launch In History”

Assassins’ Creed Valhalla, the Viking-era open-world action-adventure game, has “sold through more units in its first week” than any other entry in the long-running franchise. According to Ubisoft, Valhalla has had the biggest Assassin’s Creed game launch in history.

The game is also the biggest launch on PC for a Ubisoft game. The company said in a press release that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has become the “top-selling Ubisoft PC launch ever.”

Ubisoft provided no metrics for how well Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is doing, nor did it specify whether these impressive sales were due to digital or physical sell-through. Ubisoft shared the same sort of sentiment last year when Odyssey launched, saying the Greek-era open-world action-adventure game outpaced Origins‘ first-week sales. The last game in the franchise that was a big splash, however, was Assassin’s Creed III with 3.5 million units sold in its first week.

Ubisoft did promote other statistics, namely related to the player experience. Valhalla players covered over four million kilometers, unlocked more than 55 million buildings for their settlements, played over 3.5 million games of Orlog (the dice-rolling mini-game), and won more than 1.8 million flyting contests (Viking-style poetry slams battles) against NPCs.

Critical consensus of the game has been pretty favorable. We scored it an 8/10 in our Assassin’s Creed Valhalla review, saying, “It takes a little while to build momentum, but when it hits its stride, Valhalla is a confident Assassin’s Creed title that takes a few narrative risks which, as a whole, pay off.”

Cyberpunk 2077 On Xbox Series X Being Showcased In New Livestream

The new generation is upon us, and with Cyberpunk 2077 right around the corner, CD Projekt Red is taking the opportunity to show off its new game running on the new hardware. A Night City Wire Special presentation promises to show off the game running on Xbox Series X and Xbox One X, but the studio didn’t give much detail beyond that.

You can check out the Twitch stream below when it starts at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.

Though this will show the game running on the new hardware, this may not be a native Xbox Series X version. The free upgrade is coming sometime next year. For now, it could be the Xbox One version running on the new hardware, albeit with some boosts like upscaling and faster load times, along with showing what it runs on Xbox One X. The other new console, Xbox Series S, is absent from today’s showing.

Another Night City Wire is scheduled for Thursday, November 19. That one will focus on Keanu Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand.

Cross-Gen PlayStation Exclusives Are Being ‘Built from the Ground Up’ for PS5

Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan has reassured fans that, although some of PlayStation 5’s biggest upcoming exclusives will also appear on PS4, the PS5 versions will be “built from the ground up” to take advantage of the new hardware.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Ryan wanted to address concerns some had over PS5 games like Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure also coming to PS4

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/11/horizon-forbidden-west-horizon-2-reveal-trailer-ps5-reveal-event”]

“The first thing to say is that our PS5 experiences or versions of these games are built from the ground up to take advantage of the PS5 feature set,” Ryan explained. “So I think offering a PS5 version of these games for the PS5 community and then a PS4 version of these games to the PS4 community, I don’t see what’s wrong with that.”

Ryan previously spoke about the importance of the over 100 million PlayStation 4 owners and how it was “crucial” to keep serving these people for years to come, and he echoed those thoughts in this interview.

“We’ve got a community of PS4 gamers 100 million-strong. It would be wrong to walk away from those people too early. And they’ve been engaged with their PS4s this year under lockdown to a greater extent than at any point over the course of the cycle. They’re using their PlayStations. They’re happy with their PlayStations. Why would we stop giving them games?”

As for how long PlayStation fans can expect to see these cross-generational exclusives, Sony’s SVP of Global Product Strategy and Management Hideaki Nishino did mention that the full generational transition from PS4 and PS5 “will take about three years.”

The next big known exclusive for PS5 is set to be the 2021 sequel to 2018’s God of War, yet there has been no word as whether or not Santa Monica Studios will also be bringing Kratos and Atreus’ next adventure to PS4.

Speaking of games appearing on PS4 and PS5, if you purchased Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on PS5, you may have been accidentally playing the PS4 version, and we’re here to help make sure you are playing the proper next-gen version.

How To Transfer Save Data In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Data transfers are coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s upcoming free winter update, slotted to drop by the end of the day on November 18. According to Nintendo, this update will include two new features to transfer save data between two Nintendo Switch systems: entire island transfer and resident move. Here’s how to use both!

Entire Island Transfer

This feature is for when you’re looking to move your whole island, residents and all, to a new Switch system. When you initiate an entire island transfer, all progress and customizations along with all player residents will be moved over, so be sure that everyone who plays on this island will have access to the new Switch. You don’t want to lock anyone out of their game! This is also the only way to transfer your island resident representative if you haven’t backed your game up. In case it’s been a minute, the island resident representative is the main player character on your island.

To complete an entire island transfer, you will need access to both the original system and the new one.

Resident Move

The resident move feature is one you should use if you have multiple people playing on one island, and you want to move any that aren’t the resident representative. With resident move, the selected resident, along with their home, inventory, and stored items, will be transferred to the new island. You can’t transfer your resident representative with this feature.

If you want to move a resident to a brand-new island, the system you’re sending them to needs to have no pre-existing save data. If there’s already an island on the new Switch, your resident will move there. All of the other island progress and animal neighbors will stay on the original system.

Just like with the entire island transfer, you will need access to both the original system and the new one to complete a resident move transfer.

Quentin Tarantino Is Writing A Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Novel

Quentin Tarantino has often stated that he plans to stop making movies after his tenth film, and focus more on writing. If he keeps to his word, that leaves just one more movie before he quits directing. But either way, Tarantino is already starting to stretch his skills; he’s planning to write a novelization of his most recent movie, last year’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Publisher HarperCollins has announced that Tarantino has signed a deal to write the book, which will be published in summer 2021. Tarantino explained that it was a childhood love of movie novelizations that led to him to write one for his own film.

“In the ’70s movie novelizations were the first adult books I grew up reading,” he said in a press release.. “And to this day I have a tremendous amount of affection for the genre. So as a movie-novelization aficionado, I’m proud to announce Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as my contribution to this often marginalized, yet beloved sub-genre in literature. I’m also thrilled to further explore my characters and their world in a literary endeavor that can (hopefully) sit alongside its cinematic counterpart.”

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood novelization isn’t the only book that Tarantino is writing for the publisher. He’s also working on a nonfiction book titled Cinema Speculation, which will focus on his love of 1970s cinema.

Tarantino first announced that he would quit directing after completing 10 movies back in 2014. While promoting Once Upon a Time in Hollywood last year, he confirmed that this was still his plan, and hinted as to what to expect next. “I think when it comes to theatrical movies, I’ve come to the end of the road,” he told GQ Australia. “I see myself writing film books and starting to write theatre, so I’ll still be creative. I just think I’ve given all I have to give to movies.”

The Batman: HBO Max Spin-Off TV Series Loses Showrunner Over Creative Differences

HBO Max is already looking for a new showrunner for its TV series based on Matt Reeves’ The Batman, after previous showrunner, Terence Winter, exited the show due to creative differences.

This news comes by way of a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, which claims that Winter’s vision for the series did not line up with what Reeves and other producers on the show had in mind. HBO Max is currently searching for Winter’s replacement, although it and Warner Bros. Television declined to comment when asked about the situation by THR.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/23/the-batman-trailer-dc-fandome-official-footage”]

According to the report, the show is internally being referred to as Gotham Central, which is likely a nod to Gotham PD-focused procedural comic book series created by Greg Rucka, Ed Brubaker, and Michael Lark. It ran from 2002 to 2006 and focused on the city’s police department and the struggles of working as a police officer in a city like Gotham.

This TV series was announced back in July as a spin-off that takes place in Gotham City during presumably Robert Pattinson’s Batman’s first year as the caped crusader. This places the series about a year before The Batman on Matt Reeves’ Gotham timeline as Patinson’s take on the character is set during the Dark Knight’s second year in Gotham.

While set during year one, this HBO Max series will focus on the city’s police department coming to terms with Batman fighting criminals in the city. It’s unclear if Pattinson or Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon will make any appearances in the show as specific details about it are still unknown. It’s also unclear when this show might premiere on HBO Max, but we do know that The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters March 4, 2022.
