Hulu’s Animaniacs Remake Mocks Reboots, Online Dating, And Trump In First Full Trailer

We’re firmly entrenched in reboot culture, and even Warner Bros.’ classic Animaniacs is getting in on the action with a new series set to hit Hulu in November. Thankfully, though, neither the Warner brothers (nor the Warner sister) are letting that go unnoticed in the first full trailer for the show.

Animaniacs’ original 99-episode run, which aired from 1993 to 1998, was one long roast where no topic was off limits as long as the writers and animators could get it past Standards and Practices. When Hulu announced the reboot back in 2018, we all braced ourselves for an empty husk of the show we remember. While we’re not quite ready to say this new series lives up to its legacy, the first teaser was encouraging, and this trailer has us getting our hopes up.

Yakko Warner and his siblings lampoon the very idea of a reboot before Pinky tries his hand at online dating, and the cast tries to come to grips with the 22 years they’ve missed out on since the show last aired. It’s equal parts silly and insightful–just like we remember.

Animaniacs is being produced by Hulu in conjunction with Amblin Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. Steven Spielberg has reportedly been quite involved in resurrecting the show, and many members of the main cast are returning for the show’s first 13-episode season. Animaniacs hits Hulu (with a giant mallet) on November 20, 2020, and a second season is set of 13 will premiere sometime in 2021.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Update Makes A Very Important Change To Minecraft’s Steve

The new 9.0.1 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has officially gone live, and it contains an important fix for Steve from Minecraft.

Although the patch notes make no mention of it, for an obvious reason, the patch appears to have made a change to Steve’s win screen. If you know, you know, and we don’t need to lay it out any more than that

In addition to that change, the 9.0.1 update makes several other updates to Steve/Alex to fix a series of issues related to clipping through the landscape and other oddities. You can see the full patch notes below, as shared by Nintendo on its website.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 9.0.1 Patch Notes

General

  • Fixed the issue where sometimes an opposing fighter would go through the landscape when Steve/Alex created a block at a certain location and the opposing fighter destroyed the block.
  • Fixed the issue where sometimes an opposing fighter would go through the landscape when Steve/Alex created a block at a certain location and the anvil created with a down air attack struck the opposing fighter.
  • Fixed the issue where the opposing fighter would become uncontrollable when Steve/Alex hit them with a minecart in certain situations.
  • Fixed the issue where if Steve/Alex’s minecart bounced off the wall, it would not hit the opposing fighter.
  • Fixed the issue where opposing fighters carried in Steve/Alex’s minecart would sometimes be warped to the original location where they were picked up.
  • Fixed the issue where certain fighters could go through Steve/Alex’s block once KO’d.

Smash Bros. Ultimate’s 9.0 update arrived last week. Along with various balance adjustments, that update introduced the game’s latest DLC character, Steve (and Alex) from Minecraft. The blocky fighter arrived alongside a brand-new stage, as well as a selection of Minecraft Spirits to unlock.

Steve is the second of six additional DLC characters planned for Smash Bros. Ultimate, following Min Min from Arms. Nintendo has not yet revealed the identities of the remaining four fighters. All six characters are included as part of the game’s Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which costs $30 USD. Each DLC fighter can also be purchased individually for $6 USD apiece.

AOC Streaming Among Us Works Because It’s Genuine

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made her Twitch debut streaming Among Us the other night with big-name streamers like Hasan Piker, Pokimane, Dr. Lupo, Jacksepticeye, and Hbomberguy, as well as her colleague, Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. It’s made headlines across gaming and non-gaming media, so you’re probably familiar with what went down already, given the widespread coverage. I was one of the over 400,000 people watching Ocasio-Cortez’s personal stream, enjoying the hell out of her and others legitimately having a good time in-game. Count me in the crowd of “never stan a politician” for simply taking part in a common hobby, but for AOC, the context is quite different.

Before I became an editor and video host here at GameSpot, I worked in politics–behind the scenes, managing campaigns in California, local, and statewide–and often managed the public-facing content of our clients and candidates on the internet. At the time, we were a young agency with a certain tech savvy that many of our clients did not have (they’d tend to be a generation or two apart from us). We’d ask for personal details that could connect them to their constituencies; photos, stories, interests, and experiences that we could share in blogs, official sites, tweets, and posts on various platforms. These would be delivered in addition to communicating actual policy visions.

Despite this, much of what I did felt so buttoned-up. Maybe it’s because I was still green in that line of work and playing it safe. But when watchful endorsers and backers can lash out at the littlest thing you say that might be off-kilter, and with the resulting internal concern that could cause, creating online content was a tedious process that would have to go through more hoops than necessary. All I wanted to do was reach potential voters in a casual manner. So, the thought popped into my head while watching AOC’s stream: What if my breakthrough as a political consultant was to get clients to stream? (And I thought of what kind of new hell that could spawn for the rest of us.)

The thing about AOC is that none of those burdens really matter because she can just present who she is. From the perspective of someone who comes from the working class, she is one of us–pretty much the same age as those around me and has put up with the same struggles we’ve had, too. Her time as a bartender from the Bronx (BX all day) prior to being elected is well-documented, and she put in the work for what is the closest thing I’ve seen to a legitimate grassroots effort for a successful run at Congress. She didn’t have to exist in established political circles as a career and navigate a system through relationships, massive endorsements, or being a yes-person within a party. There is no manufactured brand to uphold.

If you’ve been keeping up with her work, streaming comes off as a sensible extension of what she already does on Instagram Live and her personal Twitter timeline.

Streaming works for her because it’s genuine. This isn’t some out-of-touch official doing the old “how do you do, fellow kids” routine to seem personable. I tend to cringe at the notion of politicians being “relatable” by sharing innocuous personal details, like their favorite junk food or the last TV series they marathoned. Good lord do I roll my eyes seeing photo ops where we see them at a local hole-in-the-wall restaurant to show voters “they’re really just like us!” or say a butchered phrase in a foreign language to prove they’re in tune with a minority–or whatever other performative nonsense we often see.

AOC cracks jokes about spaceships in Among Us still using gasoline and combustion engines and throws shade at the vice president without batting an eye, and gets hyped about colleagues like Michigan representatives Rashida Tlaib and Justin Amash also watching the stream. She can pull off a really entertaining stream and also use her platform to communicate how and why you should vote; without a script or manufactured talking points. Gaming is also already part of what Ocasio-Cortez does outside the public eye, as we’ve seen with her celebration of reaching silver rank in League of Legends and interactions through Animal Crossing. And if you’ve been keeping up with her work, streaming comes off as a sensible extension of what she already does on Instagram Live and her personal Twitter timeline.

Through those channels, AOC has also cultivated a fandom and following that’s receptive to her messaging because she’s able to naturally use these online platforms the same way most of us do. I wasn’t all that surprised when her own Twitch viewer count hit over 400k, but when I step back to think about it, that’s a whole lot more folks listening to authentic messages about voting than what you see from a typical political rally. And it helps that her viewers, as well as the audiences from the popular streamers who participated, are simply there for a fun time.

When you start a stream and you switch to the on-camera scene in OBS, you’re the one who has to carry that stream and make it pop. And if you’ve approached your career through being open about your work and transparent in your representation of people, there really isn’t anything to worry about when you go live. I sure as hell wouldn’t trust any official I’ve worked with in the past to do that, and I’m sure they wouldn’t want to be in that position in the first place.

Is this the future of politics? Or is this something other politicians can take advantage of? It really depends. You won’t manufacture the first gamer president (sorry Ace Watkins). You can’t force gaming or streaming onto a candidate, and you also won’t win campaigning through an Among Us or Fortnite stream. But there’s a genuine chemistry that can be had with influencers and audiences that are receptive to real social democratic messaging. We saw that with AOC between major names like Pokimane, Hasan, and Hbomberguy, and we heard it throughout in this Among Us stream. And when everyone said their goodbyes and thanks, they very naturally remembered the point was to encourage voting and spread voter awareness, and did so more successfully than most traditional campaigns have done of late.

There’s a sizable progressive audience that can be reached, one that doesn’t want to be fed the same bullshit established political parties have been pushing well before the day we’ve internalized politics. The last thing I’d want to see in light of AOC’s wild first-time success is a bunch of milquetoast politicians flooding Twitch doing manufactured streams. That’s not to gatekeep gaming and streaming from them, but to warn them that it’s a crowd that can see right through obvious political plays.

The struggle for authenticity in politics isn’t going to be solved by gaming and streaming, and it’s probably not a great gateway to become an authentic political voice. But it’d be wise to engage a wide audience in a humanizing fashion that reflects them, and that’s exactly what Ocasio-Cortez achieved.

Phasmophobia Item Guide: What Every Item Does

Phasmophobia, the early access horror game, has taken Twitch and social media by storm. For the uninitiated, Phasmophobia’s goal is simple, though achieving it is a little tricky. You, either alone or with a group of friends, play a ghost hunter investigating a spooky, dimly-lit location and trying to determine which type of ghost is haunting the place. As you explore the area, you will need to use various tools to gather evidence before the ghost kills you and your friends.

Aside from the ghosts, the most terrifying thing about Phasmophobia in its current state is the lackluster tutorial. It teaches you the basics for a few investigation tools, but it leaves a lot for you to figure out on your own. So to help you in your efforts to track down the whereabouts and identify apparitions, I’ve detailed below everything you need to know about tools available to you in Phasmophobia, as well as general tips to keep you alive.

The Objective

Your job is to figure out what kind of ghost you’re up against. To do that, you first need to identify which part of the building the ghost is haunting, and then you need to find three separate pieces of hard evidence to log in your journal. Once you’ve discovered three clues, you can identify the ghost in your journal and promptly get out. The evidence options are:

  • EMF level 5
  • Freezing temperatures
  • Spirit box
  • Ghost orbs
  • Ghost writing
  • Fingerprints

You’ll want to make sure you have every tool you need in order to look for these pieces of evidence before you go into a job. There are also optional objectives, which you can find on the whiteboard in your van as you start a job, and some tools are good for completing these (which nets you extra cash to buy more tools). We’ve rounded up both the essential tools and some notable upgrades below.

Starter Tools and Essential Add-Ons

To find evidence, you need to know how the tools work and how to use them effectively. There are a few starter tools–the EMF reader, spirit box, video camera, photo camera, flashlight, UV light, and ghost writing book–as well as others you have to buy with the money you earn from ghost-hunting jobs. These tools will help you locate the room or area the ghost is haunting and find clues as to what kind of ghost it is, while there are optional tools that also can provide you with some protection against the ghost.

Most tools can be turned on or operated with a right-click, placed with F, and dropped with G. Note that you don’t have to have your flashlight out to use it; you can turn the flashlight on and off with T while you have another tool out. You can only hold three tools at a time, so make sure to coordinate with your crew and plan ahead.

Flashlight and Strong Flashlight

  • Related evidence: none
  • Good for: seeing things

There are two flashlight options in Phasmophobia: the standard-issue flashlight that comes with your kit and the strong flashlight, which illuminates a greater area. You also have a flashlight on your shoulder automatically, but that only lights up about two inches in front of your face and isn’t very useful. A flashlight should almost always take up one of your item slots.

EMF Reader

  • Related evidence: EMF level 5
  • Good for: locating the ghost, evidence

The EMF reader is one of the essential pieces of tech in your toolkit. Turn it on (by right-clicking) as you explore the house and monitor the levels on it while clearing rooms. High EMF readings don’t necessarily mean danger or high levels of paranormal activity; it just means that a ghost could be nearby or that you could be in a haunted room. The EMF reader is handy early on as it can help you pinpoint which room is the source of paranormal activity. If the EMF reader hits level 5, you can log that as evidence in your journal when you have a minute to breathe.

Thermometer

  • Related evidence: freezing temperatures
  • Good for: locating the ghost, evidence

The thermometer is the only tool that isn’t part of your default toolkit. We highly recommend buying and bringing one of these along, no matter the job. This is an excellent tool to use for the initial sweep of the house. If you see the temperature drop below 10 degrees Celsius, there’s a good chance you are in the affected room. If it drops below zero, then you’ll want to add freezing temperatures to your journal as a piece of evidence. If you forget the thermometer, which will almost certainly happen, you can still tell if a room is freezing if you can see your breath–the thermometer just makes it a lot easier.

Spirit Box

  • Related evidence: spirit box
  • Good for: aggravating the ghost, evidence

The spirit box is one of the creepiest tools in the game, as it often requires you to sit in a room by yourself with the lights off and try to have a conversation with the ghost using your real-world microphone. With the spirit box, your goal is to get the ghost to respond to you directly. You can do this by asking questions such as: “How old are you?”, “Can you speak to me?”, “Is there anyone with me?”, and so on.

The ghost can respond to your questions in one of two ways. It can interact with the environment, like turning off lights or moving objects, or it can respond directly through the spirit box. If you hear it through the spirit box–it will be a word spoken in a robotic voice–you can mark that down as a clue in your journal. If the ghost moves an object, it means that the spirit is nearby, but that doesn’t count as a clue to log in to your journal. Alternatively, the spirit box may say “nothing detected,” in which case you should try a different room. If you don’t get “nothing detected” but haven’t heard a voice, keep talking.

Keep in mind that the lights need to be off for the spirit box to work, and some ghosts will only respond to you if you are alone. If you do end up with the Spirit Box, make sure you are holding down proximity chat (V) when you talk. Technically, the ghost can hear your mic inputs even if you don’t push to speak, but it’s helpful for your teammates to hear you and is a good failsafe.

Video Camera

  • Related evidence: ghost orbs
  • Good for: evidence

Since you can only carry three tools at once (flashlight included), we recommend leaving the camera in the van until you’ve pinpointed the haunted room. Once you know where the paranormal activity originated from, return to the van and grab a video camera (the big black one). Place the camera in the corner of the room to give you the widest field of view possible. You can hold left-click to rotate the camera, right-click to turn it on, and F to place it. Don’t forget to turn it on before you bail–the last thing you want to do is to walk back to the van only to find out that you didn’t turn on the camera. Oddly enough, in Phasmophobia, the green light means it’s recording, and red means it’s off, so make sure to check this before you go.

Oddly enough, in Phasmophobia, the green light means it's recording, and red means it's off, so make sure to check this before you go.
Oddly enough, in Phasmophobia, the green light means it’s recording, and red means it’s off, so make sure to check this before you go.

After you’ve placed the camera, you or a crew member should return to the van and look at the monitor. Left-clicking on the in-game mouse will change cameras, and clicking on the in-game keyboard will toggle night vision. Whoever is monitoring the cameras should be looking for ghost orbs. Ghost orbs look like fireflies that flutter by the camera. (Don’t confuse this with someone’s breath, which you’ll see when the temperature drops. That looks more like exaggerated clouds.) If you see an orb, make sure to log it in your journal as a clue. If you don’t see one, it’s usually good to try another angle to be thorough.

Ghost Writing Book

  • Related evidence: ghost writing
  • Good for: evidence

Like the camera, the Ghost Writing Book is good for after you’ve located the haunted room. Once you know which room the ghost is camping out in, set up the journal and wait. If writing appears in the book, mark it in your journal. When you place the journal, make sure you press F to place it and not G to throw it down. Technically, a ghost can write in the journal no matter how it’s positioned, but we like to keep it facing up so everyone can see it at a glance. The smart play here is to set up the journal within the video camera’s view so that you can see it from the comfort of the van.

UV Flashlight

  • Related evidence: fingerprints
  • Good for: evidence

Like with the last few gadgets, you can probably leave the UV flashlight in the van during the early stages of a job. Typically, fingerprints don’t appear until later. Once there’s been a significant amount of paranormal activity, grab the UV flashlight and sweep the affected areas. The best places to find handprints and fingerprints are on doors and windows; they’ll be bright green, so they’re hard to miss if they’re indeed there. If you see something, snap a picture for extra cash and mark it in your journal.

Once there's been a significant amount of paranormal activity, grab the UV flashlight and sweep the affected areas.

Photo Camera

  • Related evidence: none
  • Good for: extra cash, completing optional objectives

In addition to the video camera, there’s also a silver camera that takes still shots (with a right-click on your mouse). At each job, you’ll get optional objectives, and two of the most common ones we’ve seen involve photography: taking a photo of dirty water in a sink and taking a photo of the ghost itself. You can use the spirit box to aggro the ghost, who might use a nearby sink to haunt you a bit; the dirty water kind of looks like chocolate milk, so you’ll know it right away. If you’re brave enough, you can have the camera out while the ghost is really active to try to snap a photo of it–just be careful.

Other Tools: Safety and Upgrades

While what we detailed above are the essential tools you’ll use on any given job, there are a handful of other optional tools you can take with you. These include a crucifix, which can protect you from certain ghosts, and smudge sticks that can calm a ghost. It’s also worth noting that you can make a little extra cash when you finish the job if you successfully use some of these optional tools.

While the tools below can help you on your hunt, they aren’t as straightforward as the tools above. If you’re new to Phasmophobia, we recommend sticking with the tools we listed earlier and slowly try out new ones as you get more comfortable with the basics. While this list isn’t extensive, these are the most important add-ons we think you can get.

Crucifix

  • Related evidence: none
  • Good for: not dying

The crucifix works as you’d expect. As the ghost gets more aggressive, make sure you have it out and ready; you can throw it at the ghost using G to protect yourself from death. Note that it’s more effective on certain types of ghosts than others.

If the ghost is weak to crucifixes, you can stop it from hunting by throwing it on the ground.

Lighter and Smudge Sticks

  • Related evidence: none
  • Good for: not dying, completing optional objectives

We consider these two to be a set. The candle and the smudge sticks are the only two items that require another item to work (the lighter), so never bring either a candle or smudge sticks without a lighter to go along with them. Basically, the smudge sticks look like a giant, ahem, cigarette of sorts, and they work to “sage” the room and temporarily cleanse it of the paranormal.

To light the smudge sticks, you need them and the lighter in your inventory. Turn on the lighter with a right-click, then switch to the smudge sticks and press F to light them. Alternatively, one of your teammates can hold the lighter while you press F to ignite the smudge sticks. Then walk around the haunted area to “cleanse” it, or simply throw the smudge sticks down with G to let them do the work. This will protect you for a limited time, and it’s also one of the optional objectives you might get when you start a job.

Lighter and Candle

  • Related evidence: none
  • Good for: seeing things when the lights go out

Like the smudge sticks, the candle is useless without the lighter. Light it the same way you would the smudge sticks (see above) when the ghost turns out the lights or starts to get more aggressive. While you can always find the breaker and fix the lights if they go off, a ghost at activity level 10 will also cause your flashlight to flicker, so a candle can be a nice safeguard. However, it’s not the most essential item there is.

Motion Sensor

  • Related evidence: none
  • Good for: completing optional objectives

The motion sensor can detect ghosts moving about a room, which isn’t always helpful for hunting them but is very nice for an easy optional objective. All you have to do is place the motion sensor on the wall of the haunted room, and you’ll hear it go off with a beep in your truck when people or ghosts walk by.

Glowstick

  • Related evidence: Fingerprints
  • Good for: marking a notable area, seeing things, evidence

In lieu of a UV light, you could always bring a glowstick! It both helps you see and works as a UV light if fingerprints are nearby. You can also drop it using G outside the haunted room on larger maps if you want to make sure you can find your way back after a trip to your truck.

Sanity Pills

  • Related evidence: none
  • Good for: staying sane

As you hunt a ghost, your sanity will start to drop. (You can monitor everyone’s sanity levels in the truck.) It’s absolutely worth it on harder difficulties and larger maps to bring a bottle of sanity pills for each person so you can take them mid-job; we usually return to the truck after finding the haunted room to swap gear, and that’s when we take the sanity pills.

Additional equipment purchased and taken out into the field will be lost if you die, so be extra careful if you want to hold onto those thermometers, strong flashlights, and motion sensors.

Tip: Be Careful Using Fancy New Gear

As you complete jobs, earn money, and level up, you will unlock new maps and new gear to test out. Even consumable items like sanity pills will restock themselves after you finish a job (just make sure to re-add them to your equipment list before going on the next job), any non-starter equipment purchased and taken out into the field will be lost if you die. Be extra careful if you want to hold onto those thermometers, strong flashlights, and motion sensors. You do get an insurance payout, though, so it’s not a complete loss.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Main Theme Music Revealed; Jack Wall Returns

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has brought back Black Ops composer Jack Wall to do the music once again. Developer Treyarch has confirmed Wall’s involvement in the game, and also released the main theme music, which is meant to reflect the ’80s and the Cold War period.

Wall told SPIN that he used a number of soft synth instruments to create a “dark, shadowy” feel that felt appropriate to the time period.

“I wanted to create something for the main menu that immediately said very clearly ‘Cold War’: Reagan, Brezhnev, Soviet choir,” Wall said. “I wrote a distinctly ‘of the era’ Soviet-sounding theme, mixing Soviet choir and orchestra with dark synths. Making music and sounds from the ’80s–[using instruments like] Moog Modular, Minimoog, and CS80, as well as other soft synths–to give it that dark, shadowy Black Ops feel in the time of larger-than-life Cold War political figures like Reagan and Brezhnev.”

Wall also created the music for Black Ops 2, 3, and 4. Outside of the Call of Duty franchise, Wall is known for the music he wrote for Mass Effect 1 and 2, Jade Empire, Splinter Cell, and Lost Planet 3.

Black Ops Cold War releases on November 13 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, along with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The game’s cross-play beta recently ended, and if you took part, you can now claim a special freebie for Call of Duty Mobile.

Borat 2 Reveals Why Rudy Giuliani Called The Cops On Sacha Baron Cohen

Comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen seems to have one goal when he dons the loose-fitting suit and goofy mustache of fictional Kazakhstani reporter Borat Sagdiyev: enabling his interview subjects to incriminate and humiliate themselves of seemingly their own accord. In short, he gets people to say and do compromising things of their own volition, with no one to blame but themselves. That schtick continues in the sequel Borat 2, whose release date on Amazon Prime Video is this Friday, October 23.

Borat’s latest “victim” is Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City and current lawyer for Donald Trump. Those who pay attention to the news might remember that Giuliani called the cops on Cohen back in July for a vaguely described prank; Page Six reported at the time that Giuliani had phoned the police after a man wearing a “pink bikini with lace underneath a translucent mesh top” crashed what he thought had been an above-board interview about the Trump administration’s response to COVID-19. “This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shake-down, so I reported it to the police. He then ran away,” Giuliani reportedly said at the time. “I only later realized it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me.”

As Borat 2 wouldn’t be announced for months after the incident, at the time, it was generally assume that the prank might have been related to Cohen’s Showtime show Who is America?. However, now that the sequel is about to arrive on Amazon and screeners have been sent out across the internet, the details of the full scene have emerged.

Beware: Although we alluded to the scene in our review this morning, we’d generally consider the details a spoiler for the movie. However, it’s already being discussed all over, so we feel comfortable reporting the details.

In the scene, Borat’s “daughter” Tutar, played by Maria Bakalova, has lured Giuliani to a hotel suite for an interview. She acts nervous and flatters the political lawyer, who gets more and more familiar as the sequence proceeds, grabbing her hands, flirting back, and eventually, following her into the suite’s bedroom. Tutar begins helping Giuliani remove his lav mic, which is wired under his shirt, and appears to begin attempting to undress him. He briefly puts his hand on her waist, asks for her phone number and email address, and then appears to put his hand down his own pants for an extended moment, when Cohen bursts into the room before it can go any further.

It’s undoubtedly the most shocking scene in a movie that also shows Cohen, as Borat dressed in a flabby “McDonald Trump” getup, fireman-carry Tutar through the middle of the 2020 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to deliver her directly to Vice President Mike Pence in the middle of a very public speech–another incident that absolutely happened in February, and no, nobody at the time knew that it was Cohen under the grotesque rubber Trump mask.

In our review, we said, “If you liked the original Borat when it became a phenomenon almost 15 years ago, but are pretty sure it wouldn’t hold up to modern standards of political correctness and general decency–and rightly so–you might be pleasantly surprised by Borat 2’s timeliness, focus, and more wholesome sensibilities.” The sequel begins streaming on Amazon this Friday, October 23.

The Best Moments From AOC’s Among Us Stream

When congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez first announced her interest in streaming Among Us “to get out the vote,” she was met with a barrage of popular livestreamers and other influencers eager to play alongside her. When that stream finally went live on the evening of October 20, more than 430,000 viewers tuned in on Twitch to watch. The stream ran for 3.5 hours and featured an all-star lineup of guests, including streamers Hasan “Hasanabi” Piker, Imane “Pokimane” Anys, Harris “Hbomberguy” Brewis, Ali “Myth” Kabbani, Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin, Charles “Cr1TiKaL” White, Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang, Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo, and fellow congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.

If you weren’t able to tune in, here were some of the best moments from the AOC stream, as documented by amused viewers on social media.

AOC killing Pokimane

“I can’t kill Poki, she’s so nice. I can’t do that—okay, I think I have to do it.” – AOC

AOC ruthlessly taking out Pokimane in the security room after a brief—very brief—moment of hesitation, and then immediately getting caught by Myth.

“It was an honor,” Poki declared, after letting out a shocked scream. “It was an honor!”

AOC killing Mxmtoon

“I’m gonna pass away.” – Mxmtoon

AOC got quite a few kills as the impostor and people’s reactions were priceless every time. Mxmtoon, after getting put down in electrical, seemed to have trouble processing the moment:

“Is it weird we’re calling you AOC?”

“No, no, you guys can call me AOC. Mike Pence can’t call me AOC.” – AOC

While trying to adjust audio levels, Hasanabi referred to the congresswoman as “AOC,” then stopped himself to ask if that nickname was appropriate. AOC assured her crewmates it was—for them, at least.

That rig Ilhan Omar was playing on

“When you’re winning.” – Ilhan Omar

About an hour into the stream, Ilhan Omar’s deputy comms director Isi Baehr-Breen posted a photo of the Minnesota congresswoman streaming from his monster gaming rig. Shortly after, Omar posted the PC’s specs, which sent Twitter into a frenzy.

Disguised Toast “marinating” AOC…

“I would not marinate a congresswoman.” – Disguised Toast

“Marinating” is an impostor strategy in Among Us where the impostor manufactures a false sense of security among crewmates by sticking near another player without attacking them, tricking that player into defending them if they’re ever called into question. At one point, AOC started to defend Disguised Toast, but knew better than to do so without caveats.

It turns out she was right the whole time, but as AOC said, “That’s politics, right?”

…then AOC getting revenge

“It’s like a Rachel Ray, like Wolfgang Puck, sous vide marinating the whole time.” – AOC

If you didn’t get a chance to tune in live, you can watch the full VOD of AOC’s Among Us stream on her Twitch channel.

Rainbow Six Siege Update 3.3 Now Live On PS4, Full Patch Notes Revealed

After taking the servers down for a brief 30-minute maintenance period, Ubisoft has deployed a new update for Rainbow Six Siege on PlayStation 4, with PC getting it later this week and Xbox One receiving it next week. The full patch notes for Update 3.3 are outlined below.

The update tweaks the game’s Operators in several ways,, like reducing the number of explosive ticks in Ace’s Selma Aqua Breacher, decreasing Glaz’s vision recovery and movement penalization, and giving the ITA12S shotgun to Frost as a secondary weapon. There are also balance adjustments in Update 3.3, including changing ballistic shields so they are affected by guard breaks and increasing the maximum range damage for both the ACS12 and TCSG12 shotguns.

Elsewhere, the patch addresses some gameplay issues, such as improving the chat filter feedback system and deactivating the ban ticker for custom games. Furthermore, Update 3.3 makes a number of bug fixes. Defenders should no longer spawn on top of each other when on the second floor of the master bedroom on Chalet. Lighting problems on the first floor of the bar in Chalet have been ironed out, and minor map asset issues should be fixed now.

In other Rainbow Six Siege news, Ubisoft confirmed that the game will join Game Pass for Android and Xbox One on October 22. The tactical first-person shooter will also drop on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X as a launch title with cross-generation multiplayer support. Players can upgrade to the next-gen version for free so long as they own Rainbow Six Siege.

Balancing

For more information on balancing changes, see the Designer’s Notes.

  • Ace:
    • Reduced the number of explosive ticks of the SELMA Aqua Breacher to 2 ticks (down from 3).
  • Frost:
    • Added the ITA12S as a secondary weapon.
  • Glaz:
    • Reduced vision recovery time to 0.4s (down from 1s).
    • Reduced movement penalization by 50% to 12s (up from 6s).
  • Melusi:
    • MP5 primary will replace the T-5. Optics available on the MP5 will be the red dot, holographic, and reflex.
  • Oryx:
    • T-5 primary will replace the MP5. Optics available on the T-5 will be the red dot, holographic, reflex, and scope 1.5x.
  • Ballistic Shields:
    • The guard break effect occurs when operators with a ballistic shield are hit by an explosion or take certain types of damage (from a scale of a minimum of 50 to trigger the guard break to 100 damage).
    • The severity of the guard break is proportional to the damage done to the shield. Electric damage and the minimum 50 damage threshold will trigger the minimum strength guard break animation.
    • Melee damage, concussion FX, sonic bursts, and explosions of 100 damage or higher will trigger the maximum strength guard break animation.
    • Operators positioned behind a Clash, Monty, Blitz, or Fuze are now also partially protected from explosion damage (this still applies even if they are from the opposing team). This protection also applies if the shield is on the operator’s back. Damage taken from the explosion is proportionally calculated based on the operator’s exposure to the blast.
    • Instead of folding Montagne’s Extendable shield, he now as a guard break animation.
    • Shield explosion protection is reduced to 66% (down from 80%).
  • TCSG12 + ACS12:
    • Damage drop-off is now more progressive to reach minimal damage at 50m (instead of 20m).
    • Damage at max range increased to 68% (up from 48%).
    • Suppressor damage penalization normalized to -12.5% regardless of range.

Gameplay Updates

  • Changes to the defuser interaction that allow players to pick up the defuser, even in situations where it might have originally been inaccessible, due to falling into difficult-to-reach spaces.
  • Improvements to the chat filter feedback system.
  • The ban ticker has been deactivated for custom games. It will remain visible in all other game modes.
