Ryan Reynolds Trolls DC Fans With a Green Lantern Cameo in the Snyder Cut

Ryan Reynolds continued his years-long mockery of his Green Lantern movie by posting a new social media video that not only re-edits the notorious 2011 flop but also manages to poke fun at Snyder Cut fans, Dwayne Johnson, and even Tom Cruise.

“I’m not playing Hawkman in Black Adam. Although I generally do whatever the hell @TheRock tells me to do,” Reynolds posted Tuesday, tagging Johnson, who is his co-star in Hobbs & Shaw and the upcoming Netflix action film Red Notice.

(Johnson, as IGN audiences should know, will play Shazam nemesis Black Adam in an upcoming film about the DC Comics antihero.)

Reynolds continued, “I would however love to be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie and I’ve heard I may already be in it? #SnyderCut”

The Deadpool star then posted a followup message proclaiming, “Here’s the secret Reynolds Cut of GL you all haven’t been waiting for. In order to make it as great as possible we made some judicious cuts.”

The attached video shows footage of Reynolds’ “death scene” from Deadpool, a wildly cut down version of 2011’s Green Lantern, a quick glimpse of Tom Cruise in Top Gun, and finally Reynolds’ Hal Jordan inserted into the ending of 2017’s Justice League.

While Reynolds’ Green Lantern won’t really be in The Snyder Cut, which will debut on HBO Max next year, that doesn’t mean fans have seen the last of the Emerald Knight in live-action.

HBO Max is developing a Green Lantern series that will boast “cinematic production values” and will feature the ring slinger’s archenemy Sinestro.

Valorant And League Of Legends Dev Riot Games Is Taking A Week Off

Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, Valorant, and more, has announced that all teams will be taking a week off, with the majority being off during the week of August 10. Some teams will be staggered to ensure that games and servers continue to run smoothly during the time off.

“As game developers, we’re all hyper aware of the effects of crunch and project-based deadlines,” Riot Games said. “We owe it to ourselves and to you to prioritize our health as a team (well, many teams) so we can bring you new experiences long into the future.”

Riot Games also said that update and game release schedules will be shifted to accommodate for the time off, to ensure it isn’t “just cramming more into the following week.” The studio will be announcing the schedule changes for its individual games over the next few days.

In addition to dealing with working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Riot has had a busy year launching Valorant, which recently got a new Agent and deathmatch mode.

Earlier this year Riot Games committed to donating $1 million to fighting systemic racism. A Riot Games executive also resigned around the same time after sharing a controversial image relating to the murder of George Floyd by the police.

New Switch Eshop Sale Brings Major Markdowns On Skyrim, Doom

QuakeCon is this weekend, and along with news about all things Bethesda, you can save on a bunch of games in the publisher’s back catalog on just about every platform. The Nintendo Switch Eshop has joined a pretty big Xbox Store sale and PC sale at GOG with its own deals on Bethesda games. Admittedly, the Switch’s sale is much smaller, simply because there aren’t very many Bethesda-published titles on Switch. That said, you can still save on the solid ports of Doom (2016), The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and more until August 10.

More Nintendo Switch game deals

All eight games in the Switch’s QuakeCon Sale are 50% off. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Doom, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus are down to $30, while Wolfenstein: Youngblood Deluxe edition is $20. Yes, those prices are higher than you’ll find on other platforms, but if you wanted to check out any of them in handheld mode, we’ve never seen them at better prices.

The other four games in the sale are classic Doom games. Doom (1993), Doom II, and Doom 64 are all on sale for $2.49, and Doom 3 is up for grabs for $5. For those interested in revisiting the early days of the now ubiquitous first-person shooter genre, you can do so for cheap.

The QuakeCon Sale is the main event on the Eshop this week, but there are some other great deals to be found. Until August 17, you can pick up Mortal Kombat 11 for $20, down from $50. Pokken Tournament DX, the enhanced port of the Wii U fighting game, is on sale for $42 until August 11.

Call Of Duty Mobile Adding One Of Fans’ Most Requested Features

A popular CoD feature is making its way to Call of Duty Mobile. The Gunsmith, which allows you a great deal of customization over your weaponry, will be hitting the game starting with the next season.

The Call of Duty Mobile Twitter announced the feature with a short trailer showing it off. In it, we can see a gun being fitted with a variety of attachments, from scopes to barrels and grips. The trailer also promises that the swappable equipment will give you a greater degree of finesse over your weapons’ stats, like accuracy and range. Finally, it promises more stickers and cosmetic customization.

Activision had previously teased this feature in a separate tweet, saying “Customization is the future.” The feature has long been requested by the community for several months, which makes sense as the Mobile incarnation has been importing popular features from its PC and console siblings.

Season 9 of Call of Duty Mobile is expected to begin on or around August 8. The game has been making steady updates between seasons as well, like the mid-season addition of a ranked mode. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is preparing to launch Season 5.

Marvel’s Avengers Easter Egg Could Hint at Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye Appearance

A recent Marvel’s Avengers War Table may have contained an Easter Egg that hints at a future appearance by Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye.

Clint Barton’s Hawkeye was recently confirmed to be joining Marvel’s Avengers as a playable hero post-launch, and some concept art and a mention of the My Life as A Weapon comic may be teasing fans of a future appearance by Kate Bishop, as a playable hero or otherwise.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/29/hawkeye-reveal-trailer-for-marvels-avengers-4k”]

Our detective work begins back at Marvel’s Avengers first War Table where Kamala Khan finds an old photo of the Avengers Crew, which includes Tony Stark (Iron Man), Thor, Steve Rogers (Captain America), Natasha Romanova (Black Widow), Bruce Banner (Hulk), and Clint Barton (Hawkeye), standing together in their street clothes.

As you can see in the image below, Hawkeye is sporting a bullseye logo.

Old Photo

This is important because in Hawkeye’s official reveal, a different logo is shown.

New Hawkeye

This could simply mean Barton retired the old logo for a new one following the disaster that struck the Avengers, but a piece of concept art shared with his reveal hints at another story.

Crystal Dynamics was very clear in stating that My Life as A Weapon, by writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja, was the team’s favorite comic arc for Hawkeye. The aforementioned concept art, which includes that old logo, was also drawn from this comic.

50163547538_1b70f936c6_h

Why does this matter? Because Hawkeye Volume 1: My Life as A Weapon includes Young Avengers Presents #6, which tells the story of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop’s first meeting.

While this obviously could just be a nod to Hawkeye’s past, Kate Bishop is a very popular character that would be a welcome addition to Marvel’s Avengers. This makes even more sense when you consider she will be appearing in Marvel’s Hawkeye series on Disney+.

While only time will tell if this ends up being true, what’s wrong with a little glimmer of hope?

TombStar Is The Next Game From Crossy Road Creator Andy Sum

Crossy Road creator Andy Sum and game designer Marcus Grambau have revealed TombStar, a new top-down shooter with space Western elements, and a visual design that was influenced by late ’80s morning cartoons.

At the edge of the Frontier Galaxy, players will have to fight back against the Grimheart Gang, using one of three unique renegade heroes to survive procedurally generated stages laced with bullet hell obstacles.

Descenders and Hypnospace Outlaw publisher No More Robots will handle publishing duties for the roguelike game, which also features loot-collecting gameplay with plenty of weapons to pick up along the way.

You’ll need plenty of firepower, as each of the four deadly planets that you visit will have their own lethal dangers to contend with in the TombStar system.

TombStar is currently scheduled to launch at beginning of 2021 on PC and unspecified consoles, with a closed beta on Steam coming later this year that players can now sign up for.

Sum’s Crossy Road game earned a positive reception upon release in 2014, making over $10 million over 50 million downloads within the first three months of its release.

Pokemon Go August 2020 Field Research List

August is officially here, and that means there’s a new batch of Field Research tasks and rewards in Pokemon Go. Many of this month’s tasks revolve around Fighting-type Pokemon, so you’ll have a chance to catch monsters like Meditite, Makuhita, Machop, and others when you complete Field Research this month.

To go along with the new Field Research tasks, Niantic is offering a new Research Breakthrough reward this month as well: Scraggy, the Dark/Fighting Pokemon from Pokemon Black and White versions. Each time you collect enough Research stamps to achieve a Research Breakthrough this month, you’ll get a chance to catch Scraggy in the game.

Unlike Special Research, Field Research tasks are typically obtained via PokeStops. You’ll receive a task when you spin the Photo Disc, and you can have up to three active tasks at a time. You can also complete as many as you’d like daily, but only the first one you clear each day will net you a stamp. If you collect seven stamps, you’ll achieve a Research Breakthrough.

The Field Research tasks you can receive from PokeStops are randomly drawn from a larger pool, which Niantic refreshes at the start of each month. You can see August’s Field Research tasks along with their potential rewards, as compiled by The Silph Road, below.

There’s a lot more than just Field Research to do in Pokemon Go this month. Niantic has outlined some of the game’s August events, and they include three week-long Ultra Unlock bonuses and new Pokemon Spotlight Hours. There’s also August’s Community Day to look forward to on August 8. The featured Pokemon this month is Magikarp, which makes this a good chance to stock up on enough Magikarp Candy to get Gyarados.

The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead Are One Step Closer To Coming Back

Some good news for The Walking Dead fans who are killing time rapidly burning through everything else on their watchlists: AMC Networks has announced its plans to restart production on the second half of Season Six of Fear the Walking Dead in late August in Texas and also on Season 11 of The Walking Dead in October in Georgia.

“Our ability to resume in the safest possible way is something we are closely focused on,” CEO Josh Sapan said during a conference call on Tuesday (via Deadline). “We will continue to monitor and adjust accordingly depending on local circumstances.”

Fear the Walking Dead has been off the air for nearly a year, and it was announced during the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel that the first half of the show’s sixth season will premiere on October 11. A trailer for that upcoming season was also revealed, which you can watch below.

The main show in this universe has more of a hiccup to its broadcast continuity, since COVID-19 made finishing production on the Season 10 finale impossible. Earlier this year, AMC indicated that the finale will appear as a special episode later in 2020. That episode is currently slated to broadcast on AMC on Sunday, October 4–one week before the premiere of Fear the Walking Dead–but it is now no longer the final episode of Season 10, as AMC has ordered six additional episodes. Those further episodes will premiere in sometime in early 2021.
