Well, I'll be waiting till next year before getting one of the new consoles because there's just no reason to get one right now. However I genuinely don't know which console to get.

The games I'm looking forward to playing are: Cyberpunk, Elder Scrolls 6, FF7 Remake 2, FF16, Diablo 4, Witcher 3 (nextgen upgrade), Fallout 5, Starfield, Dragon Quest XII, Bloodborne 2, Forza, Dragon Age 4, Far Cry 6, Resident Evil Village.

There are more but I cant think right now. Initially I was going with the PS5 because alot of the games I want are cross-platform games and when it comes to games like FF7 Remake vs Forza, I'll go with Remake everyday. Forza isn't a system seller for me, so I can compromise there. However, BIG WHOPPING however, with Microsoft buying Bethesda, I'm genuinely stumped. I love Elder Scrolls SO freaking much, I know ES6 is years off, but I can't compromise on it. I have to have it, it's one of my favourite series ever, even more than FF7 Remake project. Then there's Fallout series and the Starfield game they've been making for years... and then Sony sneakily announced Playstation game prices are increasing. I just...

I guess I've got some time to think about it.

@spoofrice11 I don’t know your exact model of 4K TV, but since is 4 years old. I guess it could have hdmi 2.0a and compatible with hdr10. TV’s from 2019 started to come with hdmi 2.1.

If you play with hdr games before, it’s a big difference. Also for movies and series. Dolby Vision was a movie thing, but now with Series S/X is part of gaming. hdr is about dynamic range, it looks way better with it (if the tv is compatible and has a good level of brightness)

@spoofrice11

are you planning on getting a new tv with hdmi 2.1? Or maybe you have it.

If that’s the case Series X is the only one compatible with Dolby Vision to get the best hdr, and Dolby Atmos for sound. Including DTS:X also.

Those things don’t exist on PS5, so you would lose those things that your tv could deliver on Series X.

If you don’t have a new tv, or you don’t plan to upgrade it. Series S/X still has better services to get a lot of games included with Game Pass Ultimate with day 1 releases, continue playing on your phone using xCloud, EA Play, etc. Ps5 has some very good exclusives coming up over the years. But if you prefer sports game, again I would go for a Series X or even a Series S if your TV is full hd (1080p)

@gamer_4_life: Sony has said they have more to reveal soon . PS5 has 3D spacial audio. Not sure about Dolby vision support but it may have. I didn't preorder one anyway rather just get the games on Gamepass than keep shelling out too much money for games i play once or twice and never play again.

@gamer_4_life:

Thanks for the reply.

We have a 4 year old Samsung 4K Ultra HD TV, but don't plan on getting a newer one soon. I'm guessing that it wouldn't have a HDMI 2.1?

So the Dolby Vision will make the image shaper on a Series X, over a PS5?

@spoofrice11: No it won't it just means basically there is more control over the HDR lighting aspect . Dolby vision is far more advanced than HDR10 but HDR10 still looks amazing anyway keep the TV you have unless you have to have 120 fps :)

nobody said that ps5 doesn´t have HDR. It has, but it doesn't have Dolby Vision. Like it also doesn't have Dolby Atmos for sound. So for people looking to new tv's and sound systems, ps5 is just a fact that is not best option for people that want the best out of their devices. IF you have an old tv, or a new one with fewer options, ps5 is ok.

@naydazng7: I'm sorry, but how is subjective and misleading?

if you buy a TV capable of Dolby Vision, and you have two options, one that has Dolby Vision (Series X or Series S) and one that hasn't (PS5). Is it subjective to say that Series S/X is the best option for that tv that you bought?

Also if you already paid for Dolby Atmos or DTS:X you can use that license in several devices, up to 10 with Dolby Atmos for example, but that's not available on PS5 either.

None of these is subjective or misleading, those are just facts. I would like the ps5 to have those options, because I like games like Uncharted series, but it's a reality that I'm not going to enjoy them in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos.

@allencc3: I never said that Samsung's tv were capable of Dolby Vision. They have HDR10 and HDR10+ (as of today). spoofrice11 asked about a 4 years old samsung.

I have a LG CX that does have Dolby Vision, looks amazing in movies. I want to try it with games on a Series X.

@gamer_4_life: Exactly. The reason I am saying this is because Samsung makes some of the BEST Tvs out there. By you promoting Dolby Vision heavily, you are kind of saying that people won't get the best gaming experience possible because something does not support Dolby Vision. I am sure Samsung has their reasons for not supporting this technology. And I am also sure that they could support it, if they wanted to. And just because the xbox supports it, does not mean that it is the 'Holy Grail' of gaming. Like the person said above, this is misleading information based upon opinions. But at the same time, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. You should also mention 'the FACTS' that there no TVs on the market today that 'Fully Meets' Dolby Vision's 'Minimum' specifications. Not even the LG CX OLED meets the minimum DV specification's due to its nits(brightness) measurments being under 1000 nits. With your setup, the TV will be the bottleneck for your DV experience and you will not be able to experience DV as it is intended due to your TV's lack of brightness. So its like you have the feature capability, but not all of the way. Once TVs are capable of meeting the bare minimum requirements, you will still have to buy another TV in order to fully enjoy your xbox games in full DV.

@allencc3: Dolby Vision is more advanced that HDR10/HDR10+. Xbox Series X/S supports and PS5 doesn't. What you think about Samsung and their choices, thats subjective. Maybe you work at Samsung and have better information. If so, please explain how HDR10+ is better than Dollby Vision? Do you think also that because Samsung is more on QLED, that makes QLED better than OLED too?

LG CX is just the tv that I have right now, and I'm planning to upgrade it as TV's get better during the generation.

But as of right now, Series X/S has Dolby Vision, LG OLED's too, but PS5 and current Samsung's TV don't have it. And I sense that you do know it.

TV's are going to get brighter over this generation, so you don't need to worry. You can get the console and then upgrade your TV when is fine for you.

@gamer_4_life: Dolby Vision is a premium version of HDR10. I do not work for Samsung and prefer Sony's line of TVs which also have DV. Never did I say that HDR10+ is better than Dolby Vision. Nor did I mention QLED. What I did mention is that you will not be able to enjoy the full glory of DV with your current TV. I mean, sure, OLED meets the contrast ratio requirement but not the nit(brightness) requirement. And this is for ALL TVs. LCD beats OLED in terms of nits but do not meet the contrast ratio requirement. That being said, there is no TV out that can give you what you are preaching about. It could be 3 years down the line when people are actually able to have full DV. OLED has been out for a min and still can't break the 1000 nit requirement. So basically, everyone needs to buy an xbox so that they can enjoy DV sometime in the future because you will never be able to do so with a PS5. I am sure that PS fans will not care about the difference between HDR and DV support in games. The playable games will be the deciding factor. Also keep in mind that not every game developer will implement DV. Some will opt for HDR. Just like netflix has some HDR movies and some DV movies.

@allen what I commented was about Series X/S having Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and PS5 hasn't.

https://twitter.com/aarongreenberg/status/1304200660783517696?s=20

You can see my posts on this thread, I was adding information that it wasn't on the video to compare both system for the future.

I just use as an example the TV that I have right now, I wasn't say that it was the best, only that had that feature.

You can make your decision based on what you want or what you like. But if you have the money I recommend getting both, I'm going to do that personally.

But for people that just wanted one, and wanted also something that has more features for the TV that they buy in the future, they could check this comment and make a decision on their own.

@gamer_4_life: I understand the point you are trying to make. However, you are recommending stuff to people that they may never ever utilize. Most people buy sound bars for their TV. How does Dolby Atmos sound coming from a sound bar? How does DV look on a TV that is not fully DV certified? Will you be able to tell the difference between HDR10+ and DV on a TV that is not fully capable of supporting DV? Also, game developers can't even get HDR perfect, I think it is a bit premature to be thinking that DV in games will look anything close to DV in movies. All I ever see is people complaining about HDR looks washed out when playing RDR2, etc., so they end up turning it off and say that it looks better that way. But, if you must attempt to future proof yourself in this way, more power to you. Just try not to drag other technology-uneducated people down the same path that you think is best. There are some people out the that really know technology and how all this stuff works, and they will tell you the same thing......Dolby Vision is not ready yet. The real question is, will there be TVs that come out that fully utilize DV during the lifespan of XseX. If not, why recommend based on being optimistic?

difference is 3d audio is going to sound the same as the series x when using surround sound. with 3d audio you don't need all those speakers to get the same affect as dolby atmos. not many people know what 3d audio means or even know how its going to sound. many third parties are saying 3d audio is fantastic.

its not the old 3d tech they are using.

Sony PS4 currently offers Dolby Atmos support via audio settings.

if it sounds better than the ps4 that had dolby atmos then this should tell you how better the 3d audio is compared to dolby atmos in the current machines.

if any of you guys ever owned a psvr headset you know how good 3d audio is and the tempest chip is twice the amount of sounds over the psvr 3d audio chip.

psvr can do 50 sounds at once. the tempest can do 100 sounds and sound sources at once.

meaning the tempest chip also does ray traced sounds. having those 100 sound sources bouncing off different material.

the 3d sound is also part of the speaker on the controller and interacts with the new functions on the controller. meaning the tempest chip is part of the different vibrations on the controller as well. its all due to the tempest chip.

@gifford38: Dolby Atmos is part of the experience, but PS4 Doesn´t have it.

https://developer.dolby.com/blog/enabling-dolby-bitstream-pass-through-on-playstation/

You can watch films and enjoy the full glory of immersive sound in your home theatre. However, current support for Dolby Atmos in PlayStation gaming is unfortunately lacking. (you can google this more if you want)

but the main thing is Dolby Vision. and even Dolby announce that Vision + Atmos is only possible in Series S/X:

https://twitter.com/aarongreenberg/status/1304200660783517696?s=20

So I dont understand why saying if you buy Dolby Vision compatible display, Series S/X is the best option for that type of TV.

Personally in my LG CX I love how movies look in Dolby Vision and I can't wait to play games like that with Dolby Atmos sound in the games.

I bet ps5 is going to be a nice device, it's a pity it doesn't have that.

I don't think I play any exclusives (besides played some Forza on Xone). I'm not into shooting or other violent games, mostly play Sports games. Although Rachet & Clank looks interesting, but I've never played any of those.

So the system that loads faster and has more storage for games is the Xbox Series X, right? Do either systems have any other bonuses that make one better (I don't pay for/play online).

@louixiii: Not really that was misleading, The difference will only be 5-10 seconds so if that is much much faster when most won't tell the difference then sure go with that. All the other benefits of the Xbox series X far outweigh the PS5 which is about $100 overpriced anyway.

Devs have been saying the velocity architecture is faster than the PS5 implementation anyway. Outright SSD speed is not everything it's how it is implemented that matters.

Microsoft has so much more experience when it comes to internal operating systems.

devs never said velocity is faster. its impossible. ok how can 2.4 gigs per second be faster than 5.5 per second? is that possible? no its not. 2.4 vs 5.5 PER SECOND

sony implementation is better. hence why epic is ways saying the ps5 ssd is WORLD CLASS AND PC WILL SOON FOLLOW AND GUESS WHAT THEY DID ALREADY WITH THE NEW GPU COMING. THE SSD CAN BE USED AS VRAM.

so stop with this velocity architecture is faster. even digital foundry shut down this as well.

yeah i know. so sick of xbox fans saying 2.4 is faster than 5.5 gig per second.

we get they have more teraflops but trying to tell us 2.4 some how is faster than 5.5 gigs. even compressed data on the series x is less than the uncompressed data on the ps5. mark said 9 to 22 gigs if compressed well per second.

@deviltaz35: It's over 2x as fast...so how is that misleading? Also, the PS5 comes with a game. Speaking of games, that's why Sony can charge what they charge. They offer excellent game experiences. They've been doing that for 4 generations straight with very little slow down. Furthermore, if you don't have an additional $100 to get the version with the disc drive, you can always save $100 and go digital. At least you get the same power instead of buying some extremely under powered piece of junk that'll show it's limits in about 2 years.

@spoofrice11: R&C is fantastic fun. I've always thought of them like playing a Pixar movie in game form. Good humor, good stories, fun combat, decent puzzles, etc.

PS5 loads faster based on whatever special tweaking that they've done to the drive. XBox appears to have slightly larger storage.

As far as the hardware goes though, you could mostly just flip a coin.

XseX 12.16TF full fat rdna 2.

ps5 9.2TF rdna with SOME RDNA 2 features. Not the full fat RDNA 2 that’s in the Xbox’s.

ps5 isn’t going to run with 10.2TF in every day conditions. The CPU and GPU can’t run at peak clocks simultaneously. Variable clocks.

The github leak was correct.

XseX stomps ps5.

wow this rdna 2 rumor has been shut down months ago. yes the cpu and gpu can both run at peak clocks at the same time. now if the gpu needs help at the peak performance the cpu can help. same with the cpu.

the only time its going to down clock is if the gpu or cpu are not being used at its highest peak. like when playing a ps4 game or a indie game that does not use all the power.

its also used for temperature. it drops only 3% when this happens. what happens when a console get overheated? it crashes the game and it then your console. with smart shift it will lower it by 3% so its does not crash your game or affect fps (does not slow your game down).

you won't even notice this when playin the game. mark already covered all of this in the deep dive but no one listened to him.

so stop the ps5 and the series x are very close in power. 2 teraflops are not going to make the ps5 look last gen. games will be either 4k/30 or 4k/60 for both multiplat games.

not one series x game will run at 4k/60 while the ps5 version runs at 4k/30.

there both going to have the same fps and res as each other.

If you buy a high-end TV, Series S/X is the only one with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Something that could be important if you would like to buy for example a LG CX OLED with 120hz.

I think this point about sound and hdr is important to mention in comparisons for people that want to use all of the features of new tv’s and sound systems.

@esqueejy: I just post raw information, base on the equipment you have yo can make a choice of what is best for you.

I like Dolby Vision in my LG CX, in movies. I would like to have that on games, and Series X/S is the only console that can deliver that.

Also not only with sound systems, but when I connect my controller to the Xbox One gamepad that also has the same audio options I can change between Dolby Atmos and DTS:X depending on which one is best for the game. I dont have that on ps4. Ps4 also had 3D audio like ps5, using the platinum headset by Sony, I enjoyed Uncharted 4 with them but only few games had that.

@esqueejy: I just post raw information, base on the equipment you have yo can make a choice of what is best for you.

Also not only with sound systems, but when I connect my controller to the Xbox One gamepad that also has the same audio options I can change between Dolby Atmos and DTS:X depending on which one is best for the game. wow the ps4 did not have 3d audio uncharted did and its not the same. the psvr head set has a 3d chip inside but with half the amunt of sound sources of the tempest chip. the ps4 uses the cpu to do sound and it was dolby atmos.

I have a psvr and the sound is awesome compered to the ps4 headset.

dolby atmos is going to sound the same as the 3d audio on the same sound source your using. (surround sound or sound bar). but if you use there headset>>>>>dolby atmos.

thing is you don't need the headset to have the 3d chip in it the ps5 has is inside instead. this way the speaker on the controller is apart of that 3d sound and so is the new features (hyper feed back.)

but this is not what is impressive with the tempest chip. it the fact it can do 100 sound sources at once. you even notice playing a game and some of the sounds you don't hear? because there was to many sounds at once.

imagine in a game your standing there hearing rain bounce off different materials at the same time you hear explosions in the distance, wind, animals, people, the world around you but you know which direction each sound is coming from.

@gifford38: so ps4 didn't have 3d audio, but Uncharted did... and where do you play Uncharted?

https://www.playstation.com/en-ca/explore/accessories/audio-and-communication/platinum-wireless-headset/

3D Audio: In select PS4™ games that fully support 3D audio, hear and feel an amazingly rich audio experience with surround sound emanating from all directions, including above and below you.

comes with Wireless Adaptor with 3D audio processing components

Anyway Dolby already reply to Sony about Atmos vs Tempest:

https://wccftech.com/dolby-atmos-can-also-support-hundreds-of-objects-like-ps5s-tempest-says-dolby/

Tempest is a solution like what Microsoft already had on Xbox and Windows 10: Windows Sonic.

And on Microsoft consoles you get to choose between: Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Windows Sonic.

which is great because therea are games that sound better on DTS:X and others in Dolby Atmos. Being able to choose is great. I would like to have that on Playstation consoles, but is a fact that they don't have, I'm looking forward to try Tempest though, I'm curios about that implementation and I know that is going to sound great on Sony exclusives, I don´t know about third parties support.

I see that you have a Kratos profile pic, I guess you're a fan of Sony's consoles maybe, but don't worry I was just adding information that I haven't seen on the video. Series X/S and PS5 are going to be great consoles and I'm going to buy them (I currently have Xbox One X & PS4 Slim) I just wish that that they have the same options of HDR and Sound.

Asking the community if selling a pre-ordered ps5 and X, (while not 3080) to sell on eBay, the replies would be hilarious.

Should we execute the tyrant, the king, should we poison the emperor..

No Matter what the question is, the answers always stem through history and current...

Thank you. The video was quite informative and covered it all very nicely. You have a nice diction and it's very clearly spoken English.

As regards the consoles, I have a PS4 and XB1S which has a fair number of games and it still feels like a modern powerful system. I recall when PS2 and Xbox came out they were powerful but towards the end you could see games get noticeably better and there was huge leap between PS2 -> PS3 and Xbox -> Xbox 360. Due to laws of diminishing return it felt like PS3 -> PS4 and Xbox360 -> XB1 wasn't as much a leap and PS4 -> PS5 and XB1S -> XBSX are likely even lesser leaps (like on PC games which look and feel nearly with a graphics card from 2020 compared to 2013-2014 despite the crazy specs improvements).

I'll get the PS5 and XBSS maybe next year or in 2022. Not because of price but because there's really not much point to it and the existing PS4 and XB1S still have at least 2 to 3 years longevity in them.
