This Mod Brings Fall Guys’ Lil’ Jelly Beans To Skyrim

If you’re getting caught up in Fall Guys mania but want to bring it into a game that’s a little easier to win, this Skyrim mod is for you. As picked up by PC Gamer, the Fall Guys Followers mod adds a bunch of the game’s little jelly bean characters (and one really big one) to follow your dragonborn around and help them in battle.

As you can see in the mod’s trailer, the Fall Guys seem pretty good in battle, plus you can craft little sweet roll hats or guards helmets for them. The mod’s creator built the assets from scratch rather than using official Fall Guys materials, and it looks like they did a pretty good job of it.

The Skyrim Special Edition mod can be found at Nexus Mods or for Xbox One, and requires the Dragonborn DLC to run–once you have it installed, you just have to go and pick up these little fellas at Whitewatch Tower so they can join your party.

Skyrim isn’t the only game that’s had a Fall Guys crossover since the game released to record-breaking popularity–another fantasy mash-up has seen the Fall Guys added to D&D as a playable race called “Fallen Beans.”

Written by Jaron Johnson, the creator of D&D parody Monsters of Murka, the Fallen Beans are sure to spice up many a homebrew campaign.

Fall Guys Has Plans For A Lot Of New Content

Mediatonic’s whimsical battle royale game Fall Guys is one of 2020’s breakout success stories in games. It’s sold millions of copies and has inspired some of the biggest brands on Earth to get involved in the discussion. The game’s success has “absolutely obliterated” the developer’s expectations, lead designer Joe Walsh told Kotaku Australia.

“Our highest estimates have been absolutely obliterated by the actual response … you can’t plan those things. You can’t predict it. Sometimes, it’s just right place, right time,” he said.

Walsh said the concept for Fall Guys “always felt like a good idea,” but the studio did not imagine just how much of a success the title would become. “As soon as you start thinking about your game being a success you feel like you’re going to jinx it,” Walsh said.

Looking ahead, Walsh said Mediatonic will focus on developing more content for Fall Guys to keep people interested and engaged.

“Game shows are built on variety and they’re built on novelty so for Fall Guys to achieve its goal of being the ‘greatest game show ever made’ we need to create that sort of variety and that sort of novelty,” Walsh explained.

The developer is currently playtesting new ideas, as well as “new interesting ways to play” including cross-play and a “squad” mode. The studio is also tinkering with “special playlists with weird combinations of rounds.”

Mediatonic wants to get Fall Guys to a place where, every time you play, there is something new that you haven’t seen before. “It’s a lofty goal and it’s going to take a while to get there but I think that’s the biggest focus for the team right now,” Walsh said.

Fall Guys Season 2 will be revealed during Gamescom later this month, so it won’t be much longer until we find out what’s next.

Epic Games Vs. Apple: Judge Denies Fortnite’s Return, But Protects Unreal Engine Devs

The Apple/Epic legal case over Fortnite continues, with a new ruling from Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in the case denying part of Epic’s appeal for a temporary restraining order–but also granting another part. As reported by The Verge, Judge Rogers has denied Epic Games the rights to temporarily return Fortnite to the App Store, but has also prevented Apple from cutting off developer’s Unreal Engine accounts.

Apple has been seeking to prevent Epic from returning Fortnite to the App Store, and has made movements to cut off access to Epic development tools–which would have a major impact on developers outside of Epic. However, at least for the time being, this will not be happening.

The full court order outlines the part of Epic’s appeal that has been granted: “Apple and all persons in active concert or participation with Apple, are temporarily restrained from taking adverse action against Epic Games with respect to restricting, suspending or terminating any affiliate of Epic Games, such as Epic International, from Apple’s Developer Program, including as to Unreal Engine, on the basis that Epic Games enabled in-app payment processing in Fortnite through means other than IAP or on the basis of the steps Epic took to do so.”

Blocking these developer tools would have had wider implications, negatively impacting not just Epic, but also developers who use their tools for mobile development.

However, when it comes to Fortnite, Rogers states that “the current predicament appears of (Epic’s) own making,” denying the request to have the game restored. “The Court observes that Epic Games strategically chose to breach its agreements with Apple which changed the status quo,” it reads. “No equities have been identified suggesting that the Court should impose a new status quo in favor of Epic Games. By contrast, with respect to the Unreal Engine and the developer tools, the Court finds the opposite result.”

As The Verge notes, this is a minor ruling in the grand scheme of things–the trial between Epic and Apple is unlikely to begin until 2021. A hearing on the injunction is expected to happen on September 28, which will determine the scope of the trial. In the meantime, it seems that Fortnite likely won’t be available on your iPhone or Android device, even if you buy one off eBay.

Today’s ruling is limited in scope, meant only to preserve the status quo while the court can hear more detailed arguments concerning a preliminary injunction. That injunction would determine whether Apple can take action against Fortnite, the Unreal Engine, or various other Epic products over the course of the trial. The two parties are expected to file their arguments in the coming weeks, with a full hearing on the injunction scheduled for September 28th.

Epic has previously posted emails from Apple to try and prove that they have misrepresented their intentions, and has received support from Microsoft over their appeal. In-game, Epic has been quite vocal on the matter with their “Free Fortnite” Cup and screening of Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite.

For now, if you’re playing on an Apple or Android mobile, you’ll likely want to consider moving over to another device to play before the start of Chapter 2, Season 4.

GTA 6 Domain Has Been Renewed, But Don’t Get Your Hopes Up Yet

Grand Theft Auto V is one of the most commercially successful games and pieces of entertainment in human history, and it’s set to grow bigger still when it comes to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2021. Given the enormous success of the title and its online mode, it makes sense that developer Rockstar Games would make a sequel … eventually.

It probably won’t happen soon, but Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two, is now seemingly protecting its future right to do so by renewing the domain registration for GTAVI.com.

This is nothing new or extraordinary; it’s normal and expected for video game companies to secure domains for upcoming or unannounced titles, whether they intend to actually make them or not. Take-Two has also renewed its domain for gtavicecityonline.com, according to GamesRadar.

In April, Kotaku reported that Rockstar Games had begun work on the next Grand Theft Auto title. The game is reportedly “early in development.”

If Rockstar is indeed making a new GTA title, it will do so without Rockstar founder Dan Houser, who left the company earlier in 2020. Veteran GTA writer, producer, and in-game DJ, Lazlow, has left Rockstar Games as well. Leslie Benzies, the former head of GTA developer Rockstar North, said he was forced out of the company and sued the studio for millions.

Rockstar’s latest release was Red Dead Redemption II, which has sold more than 32 million copies to date.

As for GTA 5, it has sold more than 135 million copies, but that is just the beginning of the game’s success, as the GTA Online mode brings in lots of money from its various microtransactions.

Seeing Christopher Nolan’s Tenet At The Drive-In Just Got Way Harder

Yes, Christopher Nolan’s new movie Tenet will be in theaters soon. At least, it will be in theory. As it stands, many indoor movies theaters across the United States remain closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, while drive-ins have been growing in popularity. If you were planning to watch the movie at the drive-in from the comfort of your own car, though, you might have to rethink your plans.

A report from Variety says that Warner Bros. has very specific rules about what drive-ins will be allowed to screen Tenet–and many of them won’t be eligible. In its report, Variety claims that the only drive-ins that will be able to screen Tenet are those in markets where indoor theaters are also open. So in a state like California, where theaters remain closed, Tenet won’t be shown at drive-ins. The Chicago area, on the other hand, will be able to screen it both indoors and outdoors, according to Variety.

Of course, this could all change at some point leading up to Tenet’s September 3 big screen debut in the United States. As it stands, The Russell Crowe-starring Unhinged is the top movie at the domestic box office. It managed to attain that goal by earning $4 million during its opening weekend, which in any other year would be considered low.

In his review of Tenet, GameSpot’s Eddie Makuch called the film “a mind-bender of a movie that has action galore, characters you can for the most part connect with and understand, and a time travel story that doesn’t get bogged down in the details and just lets you enjoy the spectacle.” It most certainly sounds like something fans of Nolan are going to want to see as soon as possible. Hopefully, they’ll get their shot.

Tenet arrived in select theaters on September 3.

NHL 21’s Closed Beta Test Starts Soon

A closed beta test for NHL 21 is coming up very soon, and now EA Sports has detailed what’s in it and what to expect. The beta test will start on August 28, the studio has confirmed.

Those accepted into the beta test will be able to try out two modes: Online Versus and World of Chel. Because it is a closed test, users are forbidden from streaming their gameplay, so don’t expect to see footage.

Registrations for the NHL 21 closed beta test are closed, so if you did not already sign up for a chance to get in, you’re out of luck. Those who did should check their emails to see if they have been accepted.

NHL 21 has now been officially announced, and it features Alexander Ovechkin on the cover. Among the new features for this year are a series of skill moves that have been made famous in the NHL, including the lacrosse/Michigan move and Kucherov’s “no move move.” EA has said it will use the NHL 21 beta test to gather feedback regarding these moves.

Madden 21 – Baltimore Ravens vs Kansas City Chiefs (Full Gameplay)

Madden NFL 21, the latest game in EA’s professional football series, releases soon, and in the video above, you can check out some gameplay showcasing two of the league’s best teams. We pit the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs–the latter being the reigning Super Bowl Champions–against one another to see who comes out on top.

You’ll get to see a full game with six-minute quarters played out in Exhibition mode. Among the things you’ll see are the new defensive mechanics that Madden 21 introduces, such as defensive linemen’s new bullrush, swim, and rip moves. Also on display are some superstar players’ X-Factors. On the QB front, when those X-Factors are activated, that means Lamar Jackson is prevented from fumbling due to a tackle, while Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes can throw further downfield than usual.

Madden NFL 21 is now available in early access, with the standard release date coming on August 28 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Xbox Series X and PS5 releases are also on the way, with free upgrade paths available for those who buy the game on current-gen consoles.

Halo 3: ODST PC/Xbox One Beta Has Been Extended

The ongoing Halo 3: ODST beta test on PC and Xbox One for The Master Chief Collection will run for longer than expected. Developer 343 Industries has confirmed that the beta test, or “flight,” will now run through Monday, August 31.

The beta remains closed, so you will need an invitation to get in. Just recently, 343 sent over 100,000 more invitations on PC alone, so be sure to check your email. To get into the beta you need to be a member of the free Halo Insider program–you can sign up here.

Those who are selected for the beta test on PC can try out six campaign missions and seven Firefight maps, plus some of the new changes and improvements coming to the Master Chief Collection, including new weapon skins and guns for Halo 3.

The situation is slightly different on Xbox One–the ODST campaign has been available on the Xbox One version of the Master Chief Collection since 2015, but Firefight, the wave-based multiplayer mode, is making its long-awaited debut. Both the campaign and Firefight are heading to PC for the very first time.

ODST was originally released back in 2009 for the Xbox 360. Critic Tom McShea awarded it a score of 9/10 in GameSpot’s Halo 3: ODST review, saying, “The delicate construction of the story adds a new wrinkle to the typical Halo plot, and the action-packed campaign levels are full of intense battles and surprising encounters. Firefight mode is a standout addition, crafting highly addictive cooperative battles for players to experience.”

Skullgirls/Indivisible Devs Leave Studio Due To Director’s Harassment

Several Lab Zero Games employees have announced their departure from the studio. The mass exodus is in response to Lab Zero Games director Mike “MikeZ” Zaimont going back on his word to step down from his position following harassment allegations.

“The reason Lab Zero never issued a statement about MikeZ is because he hasn’t let us,” former Lab Zero Games creative director and lead animator Mariel “Kinuko” Cartwright wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. “I’m here today because we had asked him to leave over these behaviors. He apologized for his behavior and said he would, but has now turned around and said he won’t, all the while continuing to intimidate and bully employees. Mike is the 100% shareholder of the company, and as such, it is his right to stay if he wants to.”

In another statement posted to Twitter, former Lab Zero Games art producer Brian “EU03” Jun clarified that Zaimont went back on his word to step down when his “unrealistically high and potentially illegal” terms weren’t met.

“Mike used intimidating and potentially retaliatory tactics to bully the team while refusing responsibility for his actions,” former Lab Zero Games senior animator Jonathan Kim wrote in their statement, also posted to Twitter. “He then gave all employees until August 31 to leave if they’re unsatisfied and so now we’re here.”

Quite a few other Lab Zero Games employees released similar statements or simply tweeted out that they were leaving the studio without supplying their exact reasons, including former senior animator Jebus “Simpai” Matoi and former senior artist Jessica Allen. Necrosoft Games director Brandon Sheffield also released a statement on Twitter about Lab Zero Games, speaking out about why he cut ties with the studio earlier this year.

Lab Zero Games developed Skullgirls and Indivisible, two video games often celebrated for their fun character designs, enjoyable combat, and diverse representation. It’s disappointing to see one man’s horrific actions and inexcusable handling of the aftermath lead to the dissolution of such a creative team.
