Hitman 3 Speedrunners Are Finishing The First Level In Less Than 10 Seconds

Hitman 3 speedrunners are currently posting record completion times of IO Interactive’s latest assassination sandbox, with some players now able to complete the opening Dubai level in under ten seconds. The first level of Hitman 3 tasks players with eliminating two targets inside of a heavily-fortified skyscraper, with one of the potential victims routinely wandering around the upper floors and constantly flanked by security.

According to Speedrun.com, a website that tracks how quickly players can complete games, user Goron currently holds first place with a world record of eight seconds, followed closely by four other players who share second place with a nine-second run. The strategy for completing the mission ‘On Top Of The World’ is simple but requires pinpoint accuracy to pull off.

In the video provided in the link above, Goron attracts the attention of Marcus Stuyvesant on one of the upper floors with a well-placed shot from Agent 47’s silenced pistol, instantly executes him with a headshot, and quickly eliminates his second target, Carl Ingram, within less than a second. With the starting point of the Dubai level also being a convenient exit point, Goron was able to pull off the impressive feat with time to spare.

This particular method does result in 47 being spotted by nearby NPCs, leading to a less than impressive two-star rating for the level. Hitman speedrunners will likely be attempting to see who can achieve the fastest Silent Assassin completion of the game and its various levels, a far more challenging scenario that involves only assassinating marked targets so that the highest mission rating can be earned.

One gamer by the name of El GuLe has already pulled off a 17-second Silent Assassin run, using a silenced sniper rifle to draw targets to areas where a killshot is possible. One headshot and a fatal bullet to the wrist later, and El Gule has set an astonishing record that other players will be looking to break.

WWE Network in the US to Close and Move to NBC’s Peacock in March

NBC’s Peacock and WWE have announced a multi-year agreement that gives Peacock exclusive streaming rights to the WWE Network in the US.

WWE has revealed that NBCUniversal will officially launch the WWE Network on its Peacock streaming service in the US on March 18, beginning the roll-out of “more than 17,000 hours of new, original, and library WWE Network programming” both on-demand and on a 24/7 channel. Per Variety, any existing subscribers of the WWE Network in the US will be migrated over to Peacock Premium for $4.99 per month or, for an ad-free experience, Peacock Premium Plus will be available for $9.99 per month.

The Wall Street Journal reports that WWE is set to rake in more than $1 billion for the five-year deal, which will see Peacock become the sole streaming distributor in the US of the WWE Network. Consequently, WWE will shut down its WWE Network streaming service in the US in March but will continue to operate as a standalone streaming service outside of the US, meaning that nothing will change for WWE Network subscribers in other countries. The companies plan to share further details about the switch to Peacock and the management of customer accounts in the next few weeks.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/08/peacock-streaming-service-review”]

The new agreement will bolster Peacock’s sports programming selection, with all of WWE’s live pay-per-view events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Fastlane (available on Peacock on March 21). The catalog also includes original series like Steve Austin Broken Skull Sessions, Undertaker: The Last Ride, and the all-new WWE Icons, plus in-ring shows like NXT, NXT UK, and WWE 205 Live, as well as replays of Raw and SmackDown, together with WWE Network archives and documentaries.

“NBCUniversal has a long-standing relationship with WWE that began nearly 30 years ago with Monday Night Raw on USA. WWE has always tapped into the cultural zeitgeist with spectacular live events and larger-than-life characters, and we are thrilled to be the exclusive home for WWE Network and its millions of fans across the country,” said Rick Cordella, Peacock’s EVP and Chief Revenue Officer. “WWE Network is a transformative addition to the platform and complements Peacock’s massive catalog of iconic movies and shows, as well as the best live news and sports, from NBCUniversal and beyond.”

“We are thrilled to further the long-standing and trusted partnership WWE has with NBCUniversal,” Nick Khan, WWE’s President and Chief Revenue Officer, added in an adjoining statement alongside the announcement. “Peacock is an innovative platform that will enable us to showcase our most significant events, including WrestleMania, and provide the extraordinary entertainment our fans have come to expect with the combination of premium WWE content, live sports, news, films, and television programs.”

WWE’s 24/7 streaming network launched in 2014, offering wrestling fans exclusive access to live and on-demand programming with some original series and special partnerships. For the first time ever, US subscribers will be invited to access this content on Peacock’s streaming platform, which is already populated with a diverse selection of noteworthy movies and shows to choose from.

Super Bowl 55 Won’t Have Budweiser, Coke, Or Pepsi Ads

This year’s Super Bowl broadcast will look a little different, as a handful of major sponsors–including Anheuser-Busch, Pepsi, and Coca-Cola–have announced plans to forgo their traditional advertisements.

In its own statement, Anheuser-Busch said, “After a year that looked like no other, Budweiser has decided to do things differently.”

For the first time since 1983, Anheuser-Busch will not buy an ad for its famous Budweiser brand during the Super Bowl. Instead, the company is donating the money it would have used on an ad to COVID-19 relief and vaccination awareness campaigns.

“The campaign also pledges critical support to COVID-19 vaccine awareness and education, as we draw closer to a time when we can bring people back together again safely–at bars, in restaurants, or to celebrate life’s moments with our loved ones,” the company said.

Anheuser-Busch financed a new digital ad called “Bigger Picture,” which is meant to highlight and celebrate the moments of hope in 2020. Parks and Rec star Rashida Jones narrates the piece. Anheuser-Busch selected Jones because she has been an outspoken advocate for important health and social issues, through her “Ask Big Questions” podcast with Bill Gates and other efforts to promote health and welfare for people across the world.

“Budweiser shares my commitment to advocating for COVID-19 prevention and vaccine awareness and education. I’m happy to be a part of Budweiser’s celebration of our resilience and hope during these challenging times,” Jones said.

Anheuser-Busch is a gigantic company that owns and operates numerous other beer brands. Some of these, including Michelob Ultra and Bud Light’s fast-growing seltzer drinks, will have advertisements during Super Bowl LV.

You can watch the Michelob Ultra video below, featuring a long list of famous athletes such as Serena Williams, Anthony Davis, Peyton Manning, Brooks Koepka, Jimmy Butler, and Alex Morgan. In total, Anheuser-Busch bought four minutes of ad time for Super Bowl LV.

ViacomCBS, whose subsidiary CBS is broadcasting the game, is charging $5.5 million for every 30 seconds of ad time this year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, PepsiCo will not buy ads this year either for its Pepsi brand, though it did pay for TV sports for its Mountain Dew and Frito-Lay brands, while it’s sponsoring the half-time show with The Weeknd as well. Coca-Cola, Audi, and Avocados from Mexico won’t have any presence during Super Bowl LV at all.

M&Ms, Pringles, and Toyota are expected to have ads during Super Bowl LV, while TikTok rival Triller paid for a spot as well. The online car sales store Vroom also bought a spot.

Super Bowl LV takes place on Sunday, February 7 in Tampa Bay, Florida. There will be a limited number of fans at the game–around 22,000–including more than 7,500 vaccinated health care workers who were given free tickets.

It’s a matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the title. The Sunday before the Super Bowl is normally when the Pro Bowl takes place, but due to COVID-19, the event is happening virtually this year inside Madden NFL 21.

GTA Online Cheatmaker Forced to Close and Donate Proceeds to Charity By Take-Two

A GTA Online cheatmaker has been forced to close and donate its proceeds to charity following legal action from Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive.

As spotted by Rockstar Intel, Luna Mod Menu distributors Luna Cheats has replaced its website with a short statement, alluding to the legal action. “After discussions with Take-Two Interactive, we are immediately ceasing all maintenance, development, and distribution of our cheat menu services. We will also be donating our proceeds to a charity designated by Take-Two. We apologize for any and all problems our software has caused to the Grand Theft Auto Online community.”

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/20/gta-online-the-cayo-perico-heist-teaser-trailer”]

The Luna Mod Menu allowed players to cheat in GTA Online, letting users drop money, spawn vehicles, buff damage and protect themselves from hazards. You can see the menu in action in this YouTube video. This has clearly been done to help halt griefing and stop cheaters, but Luna Cheats is by no means the only cheat distributor for GTA Online. It remains to be seen whether Take-Two will summon similar measures across the board.

The Witcher: Blood Origin Casts Jodie Turner-Smith in Starring Role

The Witcher: Blood Origin, Netflix’s upcoming prequel series to The Witcher, has officially announced its first cast member: Jodie Turner-Smith will play the role of Éile, “an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess”.

Turner-Smith is best known for her starring role alongside Daniel Kaluuya in Queen & Slim, and also appeared in Syfy’s Nightflyers, based on the George R.R. Martin novella.

A Netflix press release describes Éile as, “an elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess, [who] has left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician. A grand reckoning on the continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.”

There’s not a lot more to go on about Éile, as Blood Origin is a prequel set 1,200 years before the main Witcher show – a period never explored in any depth in the original Witcher novels.

The show’s logline reads: “Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.”

Blood Origin is being developed by the original series’ showrunner, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, and Declan de Barra, who wrote the season 1 episode ‘Of Banquets, Bastards and Burials’, and will comprise 6 episodes.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=the-witcher-explaining-all-the-characters-and-who-plays-them&captions=true”]

Blood Origin doesn’t yet have a release date, but it’s not the only ongoing Witcher TV production – there’s also an anime adaptation, and Season 2 of the core show is on the way, due for release this year. It previously had to halt production due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic. We’re also expecting Season 3 to come along too.

Here’s what to expect from The Witcher Season 2. The show will be set in a single timeline this time around, solving perhaps the biggest issue we had in our Witcher Season 1 review.

Apple Launches “Time To Walk” Exercise Program With Dolly Parton, Shawn Mendes, And More

Apple is rolling out a new Apple Watch feature for its premium subscription service where celebrities and athletes talk to you as you walk.

The feature is called “Time to Walk,” and Apple says it’s an “inspiring new audio walking experience” that Fitness+ subscribers can use to motivate themselves during exercise.

No Caption Provided

Time to Walk features celebrities like iconic singer/songwriter Dolly Parton, basketball player Draymond Green, actress Uzo Aduba, and singer Shawn Mendes who have individual episodes where they share stories, photos, and music that mean something to them.

“Walking is the most popular physical activity in the world, and one of the healthiest things we can do for our bodies. A walk can often be more than just exercise: It can help clear the mind, solve a problem, or welcome a new perspective,” Apple boss Jay Blahnik said in a a release. “Even throughout this challenging period of time, one activity that has remained available to many is walking.”

As an example, Parton’s episode sees the singer reflect on her life and career from her upbringing in rural Tennessee to her international stardom. Green’s episode sees the athlete discuss the virtues of failure, while Aduba talks about lifelong relationships; Mendes discusses how his effort to slow down his life has helped him personally and professionally.

“Each Time to Walk episode is shaped by the guest’s personal, life-shaping moments and includes lessons learned, meaningful memories, thoughts on purpose and gratitude, moments of levity, and other thought-provoking topics, recorded while walking outside or in locations that are meaningful to them,” Apple said in its announcement.

At certain moments, photos will appear on Apple Watch, while a playlist of songs selected by the guest will pop up after the storytime has ended.

There are four episodes out right now, and new ones from different guests will appear every Monday until the end of April. Each episode is between 25 and 40 minutes.

Apple Fitness+ costs $10/month or $80/year, though one subscription can be shared with up to six family members at no extra cost. The service requires an Apple Watch Series 3 or later, along with an iPhone 6 or later, or iPhone SE.

Id Software Appears To Be Making a VR Game

A rating on an Australian classifications board suggests id Software may be at work on a new VR Game. And based on the rating, at least, this VR game will be a pretty grisly one.

The rating for “Project 2021A” was filed on January 22, 2021, with Bethesda Softworks, ZeniMax, and id Software listed by name. The name doesn’t give any clues as to the content, but the ratings for specific types of objectionable material may shed more light. According to the board, it has a very high impact under the Violence category, strong Themes, and some mild language.

All that sounds like it would be right at home in one of id’s existing franchises, like the recently revitalized Doom series. Id Software has already dabbled in VR with Doom VFR in 2017, but the listing suggests this is a new project altogether.

The news is also significant in light of the pending acquisition deal with Microsoft. Once that acquisition is complete, Microsoft will own all of Bethesda’s studios, including id Software. Microsoft has stated it will consider multiplatform releases on a case-by-case basis going forward, hinting that it may keep some for its own platforms or to bulk up its Game Pass offerings. But Xbox head Phil Spencer also hasn’t been keen on bringing VR to the console businesses, first strongly dismissing the idea and later clarifying that he just meant to clearly state his priorities. Either way, VR is not a priority for Xbox, so this mystery project may remain PC-only.

Netflix’s Witcher Prequel Series Brings On Actress Jodie Turner-Smith

Netflix’s Witcher series is the streaming company’s most popular original TV show ever, so it was no surprise when a spin-off prequel series was announced. This show is still some time off, but we’ve now learned about another actor who may join the cast for Blood Origin.

Deadline reports that Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship, Queen & Slim) is in talks to join Blood Origin, though a deal hasn’t been made yet, it seems.

The site reported that Turner-Smith is signing on to play Eile, who is described as an “elite warrior blessed with the voice of a goddess, who has left her clan and position as Queen’s guardian to follow her heart as a nomadic musician.”

“A grand reckoning on the continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption,” her character description says.

Blood Origin is the second Witcher spin-off that Netflix is developing, following on from The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf, which is an animated movie focusing on Vesemir.

Blood Origin takes place more than 1,000 years before Geralt came on the scene, following the story of “the very first Witcher.” For more on Blood Origin, check out GameSpot’s roundup of everything we know about the show.

As for the main Witcher show, the second season is currently filming, but a premiere date has not been announced. Series star Henry Cavill is currently rehabbing from an injury, but filming is moving ahead with other scenes as he recovers.

With 76 million member households watching The Witcher season 1 over its first four weeks, The Witcher is Netflix’s most popular TV show ever for its first season.

Madden NFL 21 Is Free Later This Week As Part Of Virtual Pro Bowl Festivities

Due to COVID-19, there will be no in-person Pro Bowl the week before the Super Bowl as usual, but the event is living on through the Pro Bowl: Madden NFL 21 Edition, and now EA has shared more details about it. This includes a celebrity competition and a free play period for everyone.

The event itself, which is sponsored by Verizon, takes place on Sunday, January 31 at 5 PM ET on the NFL’s YouTube, Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as EA Madden NFL Twitch.

In this special version of the Pro Bowl, celebrities and athletes will duke it out. Participants include Snoop Dogg, Deshaun Watson, Derrick Henry, and Keyshawn Johnson competing for the AFC, with Bubba Wallace, Marshawn Lynch, Kyler Murray, and Jamal Adams representing the NFC.

Everyone will play Madden 21 from their homes, and each team will rotate in a new player from the celebrity/player roster each quarter. The commentators for the game include Hall of Famer Michael Strahan and Fox Sports host Charissa Thompson.

Ninja, FaZe Swagg, AustinShow, and AMP will broadcast their own “watch parties” alongside the event itself, which will be re-broadcast at 8 PM EST and 12:30 AM EST on NFL Network.

“We’re further blurring the lines between reality and the virtual worlds of our games, creating new opportunities to connect fans through the sport they love,” EA boss David Tinson said.

NFL executive Peter O’Reilly said in his own statement, “Bringing our all-star game to a virtual stage in Madden has allowed fans to engage and enjoy the Pro Bowl, despite the unprecedented challenges of the last year. We’re excited for fans to celebrate the best players in the NFL all on one field this weekend.”

Snoop Dogg also released a statement on the upcoming virtual Pro Bowl: “I’m a Madden NFL star. So Kyler and Marshawn better watch out–my team is comin’ in to win that championship title for the AFC.”

To celebrate the event, EA is offering a free play trial of Madden NFL 21 from January 28-31. January 28 is the day that Madden 21 launches on the Google Stadia streaming service, and the free trial will be available there in addition to on console.

Super Bowl LV is scheduled for Sunday, February 7. The Kansas City Chiefs will take on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the title.

Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Is The Best-Selling Musou Game Of All Time

Japanese publisher Koei Tecmo has revealed in its third-quarter earnings report that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide since release. Not only has the game been a big hit for Koei Tecmo, but it has also become the single best-selling Musou/Warriors game of all time.

For comparison, the first Nioh game managed to sell three million units on both PC and PS4 by February 2020. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was only available on the Nintendo Switch and had sold three million units by the end of December 2020.

The rest of the quarter also saw tremendous growth for the publisher, as its mobile division continued to grow and other games sold consistently well. Romance Of The Three Kingdoms XIV and Atelier Ryza 2 sold 100,000 units and 220,000 units respectively in Japanese and Asian markets, which helped Koei Tecmo achieve a 64.7% year-on-year increase in profits.

Nioh 2 has now shipped over 1.4 million units on PS4 since it was released in March 2020, with those numbers likely to climb even higher when a PC and PS5 re-release arrives in February.

In GameSpot’s Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity review, critic Suriel Vazquez scored the game a 6/10.

“The main reason I dove into Age of Calamity is because I love its world and the history it tries to remember. So for a game to retread them and proclaim to have something new to say when its inspiration’s most striking moments come from what it leaves unsaid is a big ask. But my problem with Age of Calamity isn’t that it fails to live up to that responsibility. It’s that it doesn’t even try. It doesn’t have the courage to see things through.”
