Exclusive First Look: The Autobiography of Mr. Spock

He has been… and always shall be… our friend.

And now the most famous Vulcan of them all, Mr. Spock, is getting his autobiography released thanks to Titan Books, the same folks who previously gave us The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard and The Autobiography of James T. Kirk. Like those books, The Autobiography of Mr. Spock was written by David A. Goodman and will be an “in-universe memoir chronicling the story of one of Starfleet’s fan favorites.” It will also include an eight-page full color-plate section and will be published in hardback by Titan on October 16, 2018.

The Rocketeer is Getting an Animated Series Reboot

The Rocketeer is finally getting a reboot, but probably not the way you imagined.

Disney Junior has announced production on a new animated adventure series inspired by the 1980s Dave Stevens comic books and the 1991 film of the same name.

Aimed at kids aged 2-7 and their young-at-heart relatives, The Rocketeer will follow Kit, a young girl who receives a surprise package on her birthday revealing she’s next in line to become the Rocketeer, a legendary superhero who has the ability to fly with the help of a rocket-powered jet pack. She’ll be joined in her new mission with her gadget-minded best friend, Tesh, and airplane mechanic uncle, Ambrose.

The announcement was made by Joe D’Ambrosia, senior vice president of Original Programming at Disney Junior, who said, “We are very excited to introduce The Rocketeer to our young Disney Junior audience. The vast storytelling found in the original comic books provides the perfect opportunity to create an exciting new adventure series told from a young girl superhero perspective that the whole family can enjoy together.”

Avengers: Infinity War Art Teases New Look Iron Man And Black Widow

The first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War delivered plenty of action, plus an appearance from pretty much every hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. A few more pieces of information have emerged this week, including new looks for both Iron Man and Black Widow.

A promotional image posted on Reddit reveals that Tony Stark will be sporting two new additions to his Iron Man suit–a bionic arm and a pair of wings. As Digital Spy points out, a fleeting shot in the recent Super Bowl TV spot for the movie suggests that Tony is missing an arm. We obviously don’t know how he loses it, but it looks like he might be getting a bionic upgrade. As for the wings–Stark has never needed them to fly before, but hey, they look pretty cool.

Black Widow’s change is less dramatic, but her new costume is partly green, which at the very least ties her in visually to her good pal the Hulk. Check the image out below:

In addition, a piece of Infinity War merchandise has revealed one of the movie’s new villains. A promotional mug shows Thanos alongside his evil Black Order, plus a mysterious new bad guy. While we don’t know who it is exactly, Heroic Hollywood has suggested that it could be Warbringer, a Chitauri warlord who first appeared in a 2015 issue of Marvel’s Nova comic.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4. It is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who helmed the last two Captain America movies, and will follow it up with next year’s currently untitled Avengers 4.

In related news, Captain American star Chris Evans last week seemed to confirm that the rumored Black Widow movie is in development at Marvel. Evans was asked about the success of Black Panther, and said, “There’s nothing they can’t do, man,” he said. “I’m sure it’s going to have the exact same effect when Captain Marvel comes out, and then the Black Widow movie comes out. Marvel just has the winning recipe.”

Into The Breach Review

A lot of tactical depth can happen on a simple eight-by-eight grid. Into The Breach, the follow-up to the legendary FTL: Faster Than Light from Subset Games, creates a fantastic variety of turn-based tactical battles between your team of three mechs and giant, city-destroying kaiju monsters. On a regular basis, Into The Breach makes me scratch my head and wonder how I’m going to get out of this mess alive. And on a few of those occasions, it’s a thrill when I actually do.

Aside from the subtly detailed animations, the colorful and easily readable pixel-art graphics style does risk Into The Breach being mistaken for a typical simplistic mobile game – though, to be honest, I very much hope it’s eventually ported to phones so I can play it everywhere I go. On the most surface of levels, it’s about moving your units into position to shoot, punch, bombard, push, or otherwise affect the waves of monsters that erupt from the ground, and uses an XCOM-like one move, one attack per turn system that’s become common since 2012. But the way its countless smart rules interact with each other makes learning the nuances of its battle system one of the most rewarding tactical experiences I’ve played in years.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: “The Curse of the Earth Totem” Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

As great as it is to have Legends of Tomorrow back on the air, it’s also hard to shake the notion that the show hasn’t felt quite the same in 2018. I’d place on a large amount of the blame on the absence of both halves of Firestorm. It’s hard to fill that kind of void overnight. That, and the series have shifted in a more plot-driven direction of late, and that’s not necessarily where Legends shines the brightest. “The Curse of the Earth Totem” is a reminder of that fact.

It was pretty much inevitable that a series built around a team of heroes traveling to various points in history and meeting iconic figures would eventually touch on the Golden Age of Piracy. How could you not? I think the big failing with this episode is that the pirate elements felt almost entirely superfluous. It generally felt like this story could have played out in any setting and any time period and not have been impacted much. Sure, it was fun seeing Amaya get into the pirate captain spirit, but she was really the only one that seemed to embrace the fun of this swashbuckling setting. Ray and Nate spent a surprising amount of screen time doing little but standing around the Waverider in pirate drag.
