Star Wars Rebels: Series Finale Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

Star Wars Rebels ended its four-year run in pretty much the only way it could – with a ragtag band of freedom fighters making their last, desperate stand against the Galactic Empire. The double-length finale episode made use of a number of familiar Star Wars tropes, but did so in ways that stayed true to the series rather than simply recycling what’s worked in the past. The finale may not have answered every burning question fans have about these characters or tied up every loose end, but “Family Reunion and Farewell” gave Rebels the sendoff The Clone Wars was never able to enjoy.

On paper, the finale did play out quite a bit like the climax of Return of the Jedi. You had the lone Jedi hero making his defiant stand against Emperor Palpatine while his Rebel friends fight a losing battle against overwhelming forces as they try to destroy an Imperial facility. But again, none of these similarities were so blatant that they became distracting. Rebels simply followed the “rhyming” nature of the Star Wars saga as it brought Ezra’s character arc to its fitting conclusion.

Star Wars Rebels Finally Reveals Chopper’s Voice Actor And It’s Perfect

Now that Star Wars Rebels has come to an end, the creative team behind the animated series is revealing its greatest secret. Throughout the four seasons of Rebels, fans have theorized about the voice behind Chopper, the C1-10P droid that was with the rebels throughout their fight against the Empire.

As seen in the credits after the series finale, Chopper is voiced by none other than co-creator and executive producer Dave Filoni–oftentimes the public face of the series at conventions and fan events. Speaking to a group of fans after a special screening of the series finale, Filoni explained why he decided to come clean about his other job as a voice actor. “Show’s over, so it was kind of then or never,” he jokes.

How did Filoni end up voicing one of the show’s starring roles, though? As it turns out, a temporary fix became permanent. “I wound up playing Chopper, I’ll tell this short story because we had to deliver the first short to Disney to watch and we didn’t have a final Chopper voice. And I said, ‘Alright, I’m going to just do this.’ We did it right in the editorial in Lucasfilm,” he says. “I knew what a likable jerk is like and what I wanted him to be like. Then when we screened it, [Disney boss] Bob Iger said, ‘I really like that little droid.’ And I was like, ‘Well, now I’m stuck.'”

Of course, voicing a fan-favorite character like Chopper isn’t a bad thing. As Filoni explained to his cast at the screening, “It’s good because it gets you used to what you guys go through as actors. It helps me understand what you need to know.”

Thus ends one of the biggest secrets in the Star Wars franchise. Interestingly, though, there was one person outside of the show’s inner-circle that knew it was Filoni all along–a young fan. “A little tiny child asked me who played Chopper and I absolutely told her the truth,” he says. “She never said anything… Kids are smart that way, they make promises and they keep it. That’s why they get Star Wars.”

The Dark Knight Batmobile Now Playable In Rocket League; New Update Out Now

If you’ve been waiting for a reason to jump back into Rocket League, today’s release of its latest DLC pack makes it a good time to return. The DC Super Heroes DLC adds a whole bunch of cosmetics, but its most interesting items are two Batmobiles.

That’s right–starting today, you can play soccar in the Batmobile from The Dark Knight as well as the one from the 1989 film Batman. They both look really cool, and you can see them in action in the video below.

In addition, the DLC comes with a bunch of other items to make your vehicle DC-themed. These include Wonder Woman and Flash wheels as well as a handful of player banners and decals. You can see all the items over on Rocket League’s blog.

Developer Psyonix also released a new patch for the game. It’s a relatively small update, containing primarily bug fixes and tweaks. It also rotates out Snowy variants of maps and replaces them with Stormy variants, and it also adds the ability for spectators to chat during matches.

The DLC will cost you $4, and it’s available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. In other news, Psyonix is working on more tie-in DLC, such as a recently announced partnership with WWE. We don’t know what the wrestling-themed items will be; Psyonix said it’ll reveal more about the partnership this spring.

Here’s When Rainbow Six Siege’s Big Operation Chimera Update Launches On PS4, Xbox One, And PC

Rainbow Six Siege is getting a big new update, called Operation Chimera, very soon, which adds new content and changes existing characters, weapons, and maps. Today, Ubisoft announced that it’ll roll out the patch to all platforms tomorrow, March 6.

On Twitter, Ubisoft stated that each version of the game will go down for an hour as the company launches the update. It’ll arrive first on PC, which will be down from 6-7 AM PT / 9-10 AM ET / 2-3 PM GMT. Next, the PS4 version will go down for maintenance and deployment from 7-8 AM PT / 10-11 AM ET / 3-4 PM GMT. Finally, Ubisoft will deploy the update to Xbox One from 8-9 AM PT / 11 AM-12 PM ET / 4-5 PM GMT.

The highlights of Operation Chimera are two new Operators–Lion and Finka–as well as the Outbreak event. Outbreak introduces a three-player cooperative mode to Rainbow Six Siege which tasks you and your teammates with fighting back against infected enemies.

In addition, the update includes a bunch of tweaks and changes to other Operators. For example, Ella is getting nerfed, Kapkan has his barbed wire replaced with impact grenades, and Blitz’s stats are tweaked so that he’s a 2 speed/2 armor character (previously 1 speed/3 armor). You can read the full Operation Chimera patch notes here.

Tomorrow, Ubisoft will also make Rainbow Six Siege’s 20 original Operators available for free, as well as all weapon attachments. In addition, there’s a new Siege game mode in the works, called Pick & Ban, that’s coming later this year.
