Agents of SHIELD: Dove Cameron Debuts as Quake’s #1 Fan

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

“We have a small but active fanbase.”

Whoa, so are we getting Wrecking Crew? Or Masters of Evil? Or…some other comic-based supergroup that Absorbing Man (Brian Patrick Wade) was a part of?

General Hale’s promise, right at the end, to put a new team together surely opens up a number of possibilities. One of them being that her daughter, Ruby – Dove Cameron’s Daisy Johnson-obsessed SHIELD buster – could be Moonstone. Of course, it might turn out that none of this is being lifted from the comics and I’m just partaking in a fun bit of empty speculation.

Whatever the case may be, whatever awaits us, I’m just happy our heroes are back home and facing enemies that have a more “here and now” permanence. Not that everything isn’t meant to bleed together overall, since this season isn’t quite as segmented as Season 4 was, but it’s just a lot easier to latch onto stakes when you’re not in some type of Flashpoint future realm (if you’ll allow the crude Marvel/DC mish-mash here).

Oscars: Jennifer Lawrence and Jodie Foster to Present Best Actress

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is doing things a bit differently this year and will have two actresses present the award for best lead actress at the 90th Academy Awards.

While traditionally, the previous year’s best lead actor winner would present the award for best lead actress, Variety reports Jennifer Lawrence and Jodie Foster will present the award this year instead.

Last year, Casey Affleck won the best lead actor award for his performance in Manchester by the Sea, so he would have been set to present the award. However, in January he withdrew as a presenter for best lead actress in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.

We Reveal 3 New Shadowverse: Dawnbreak, Nightedge Cards

The next Shadowverse expansion has been revealed, and it’s called Dawnbreak, Nightedge. This is the first new set of cards since Shadowverse turned everything upside down at the very start of the year by splitting its constructed game into two formats – Rotation, which only includes Basic cards and the last five expansions released, and Unlimited, in which every card ever released is legal. At the same time, the game also added an additional class – Portalcraft.

It’s an exciting time for Shadowverse – and we have three exclusive cards to reveal (further down) – so I asked Lead Game Designer Naoyuki Miyashita about both what’s coming up and how things have been going since the introduction of a new class and formats.

Moss Is PSVR’s Most Charming Game Yet

Moss won me over instantly thanks to its adorably cute and to-scale mouse heroine, DualShock-fueled precision controls, and charming world design that lets you exist as a human-sized guiding hand inside a rodent-sized world. And outside of minor technical annoyances with PSVR itself, it never erased that initial joy when its literal storybook ending came four hours later.

Quill, the adorable mouse heroine whom you control with the DualShock, can move, jump, attack with her sword, and interact with things such as levers. She even has a couple of timing-based attack combos that elevate the fighting above simple button mashing, though you’d never mistake Moss’ combat for Bloodborne’s. You’ll face a few different enemies during the adventure, and while they’re never particularly dangerous individually, things get enjoyable hectic when their numbers start piling up and the various enemy types attack you simultaneously. Most of the enemies are either beetles or super beetles, but the exploding guys who go boom if you get too close create a nice bit of tension. Figuring out the key to defeating them quickly and painlessly (hint, it involves using your Reader ability) is vital.

What We Expect to See at Bethesda’s E3 Conference

Today Bethesda announced its annual E3 press conference would take place on the Sunday before E3, but what are they getting ready to show? Last year’s conference was a bit less exciting than some were hoping for, but this year’s could be poised to be pretty big.

Miranda and I sat down to discuss what we might expect to see in the video above, and there’s a lot of potential. From brand new Bethesda Game Studio reveals to new expansions and DLC for current games, here’s what we think the conference might have in store, broken down by how likely we think it is.

Check out the teaser trailer Bethesda released for E3 2018 below:

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet Review

The Sword Art Online anime poses the question of what happens when virtual games have life-or-death consequences? Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is a game that poses the question of “what happens if you turn an anime about a roleplaying game into an uninspired action-RPG?” While it’s a nice change of pace from the faux-MMORPG adaptations we’ve seen from this series, it still doesn’t quite hit the target.

Fatal Bullet puts you in the world of Gun Gale Online, the massively multiplayer online VR game seen in Sword Art Online II. Of course, it’s not really VR, and it’s only partially online, but it’s all part of the fiction. You begin as a newbie to Gun Gale Online, customizing an original avatar character and venturing into the world alongside your friend, Kureha. On your very first mission, you stumble across one of Gun Gale Online’s rarest finds: an intelligent, humanoid AI called ArFA-sys. It’s not long after claiming your treasure that you meet the rest of the Sword Art Online crew and get the opportunity to hang out with famous faces from the anime like Kirito and Sinon.

Battlefield 2018 Microtransactions Reportedly Cosmetic-Only Following Battlefront Controversy

Following in the wake of EA and DICE’s controversial microtransactions in Star Wars Battlefront II, the companies are reportedly taking a different approach with the loot boxes used in Battlefield 2018.

According to Kotaku, sources claim DICE is intending to have this year’s Battlefield 2018 only include cosmetic-oriented microtransactions and not those that would affect a player’s abilities in-game. Kotaku’s sources also claim, however, that the plans for the games microtransactions have changed and may change again before its release, so this plan is not set in stone.

Bethesda Possibly Teasing New Prey DLC

If a recent tease from Bethesda is any indication, new downloadable content for Prey might be on the horizon.

The following GIF was posted today on the official Prey Twitter account, hinting at what could potentially be new content for Arkane Studios’ sci-fi shooter.

Earlier today, Bethesda sent out invites to its E3 showcase, confirming the publisher will indeed have a press conference again at this year’s big gaming expo. Characters from various Bethesda franchises, including Prey, can be seen on the front of the invitation.
