Bendis and Gaydos (who previously created Jessica Jones together at Marvel) are reuniting for a series called Pearl. We Test The Limits Of Far Cry 5’s Co-Op Multiplayer

While Far Cry 5 is a lot of fun in solo play, the game’s expanded online gameplay is likely where most players will spend their time. Co-op play is where Ubisoft’s next open-world game really shines, and after the game’s tutorial mission, the entirety of your time through Hope County can be played online with a friend. Whether it’s diving into several stunt-driving missions, base-raiding, taking down some of the key members of Eden’s Gate, or hunting animals, you can do it with a friend.

In the above video, Aaron Sampson and I got to play through Far Cry 5’s opening and experience the early hours in the open world. During that time, we took part in the many activities that Hope County has to offer. But we wanted to go a bit further, so we took some time to test all sorts of stunts and features associated with co-op, and whether it could all work in ways that most players will expect.

We put together a series of tests to see how much you can push co-op play, and how the game world reacts to the presence of an additional player in-game. Things we tested include how far you and your co-op buddy can stray from one another, if the game will get harder with another player added into the mix, and what sort of progress the guest player gets to keep after leaving the session. Many of these tests required some quick-thinking and some trial-and-error, but we had fun putting it all together for you. Check out which of these hot-topics were were successes and failures.

For more info about Far Cry 5, be sure to check out our interview with lead writer Drew Holmes and lead actor Greg Bryk about the making of the game, along with some videos about some more deadly allies you can find–hint: it’s a bear.

The nine Best Picture nominees are:

  • Dunkirk
  • Darkest Hour
  • Get Out
  • Phantom Thread
  • The Post

  • Lady Bird

The Best Action-Adventure Show You’re Not Watching is on Netflix

Are you bored with action-adventure crime shows? Are you over the same story of police detectives chasing down a murderer? Do you yearn for a show that combines the action-adventure attributes of 24, the warring factions of Game of Thrones, and the thoughtfulness and sociological breadth of The Wire? Well, Netflix just made all your dreams come true.

Suburra: Blood on Rome is the first TV show Netflix has produced in Italy (it’s technically a prequel to the 2014 movie Suburra, which Netflix co-financed, but there’s no need to watch the movie before watching the show). It deals with the underworld of crime, politics, real estate and the Vatican in Rome. At first glance its plot looks like an updated Romeo and Juliet: the children of two enemy Italian families become unlikely friends and allies, including one of them falling in love with the other, and go on a journey to reclaim their lives from their controlling relatives.

Watch Us Win It All In H1Z1’s New Car Combat Mode, Auto Royale

H1Z1 was in early access for quite some time (starting in 2015) and went through many phases with its survival mode and battle royale mode. But the game recently launched with an official 1.0 version along with a brand new game mode called Auto Royale. Up to 120 players are grouped into teams of four that are stuck to a car for the entire match; there’s one driver and three shooters with health, weapon, and gadgets scattered across the map. In true battle royale fashion, players are forced into ever-shrinking zones by a deadly circle until one team emerges victorious. We happened to be that team (just once).

In the video above, you can watch us find varying degrees of success and get to grips with all the game’s quirks and features, but ultimately win it all. Throughout our time playing H1Z1’s Auto Royale, we saw what the new mode had to offer as oil slicks, smoke screens, and land mines kept us on our toes. Ramps litter the map which cars can boost through to snag pickups, escape pursuing enemy cars, or just have a good time.

For more on H1Z1, you can read through our story on the game’s full release and new Auto Royale mode. H1Z1 is a PC exclusive available on Steam; console versions were planned but development went on hiatus back in 2016. For more on battle royale games, you can check out our comparison of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Turok and Turok 2 Now Available on Xbox One

The first two Turok games are now out on Xbox One.

As detailed on Major Nelson’s blog post, Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil include restored and enhanced visuals as well as additional new features. They’re priced at $19.99 each. However, it’s important to note both games are remasters and not remakes.

The first Turok, first released in 1997, has players assume the role of the titular time-traveling warrior as he tries to collect the eight pieces of the shattered Chronoscepter scattered across a savage world. You’ll be battling dinosaurs and trying to stop the Campaigner’s evil crusade.

P.T. Demake Makes Silent Hills Teaser Look Like It’s From 1998

What would P.T. look like if it was a PlayStation game from 1998? Game developer and visual artist Toni Kortelahti has the answer, and you can try it out for yourself right now.

P.T.98, available as a free browser game on itch.io, is by no means a full version of P.T., the beloved Silent Hills teaser famously removed from the PlayStation Store ahead of Konami’s cancellation of Silent Hills in 2015. But it is a neat demonstration of what that iconic, looping hallway might look like with the low-poly 3D graphics of 90s-era games.

Captain Marvel ‘More of an Action-Comedy,’ Says Writer

Captain Marvel screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet said the upcoming MCU film is “more of an action-comedy.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Robertson-Dworet discussed the film’s comedic tone and how it’s the same vision she had for the upcoming new Tomb Raider movie.

“Captain Marvel has a very funny voice, and it’s more of an action-comedy, more like what we were talking about doing in the first draft I wrote for Tomb Raider….

that tone survived in Captain Marvel,” Robertson-Dworet said.

Robertson-Dworet began working on Tomb Raider in 2015, well before she got involved with Captain Marvel. But while Tomb Raider ended up having a more serious tone, Robertson-Dworet was adamant about making Captain Marvel as lighthearted as possible.
