Next Tarantino Movie Now Has A Title And More Details

Quentin Tarantino’s next movie now has an official title. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’ll be called Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt will star in the movie, which will in some way involve Sharon Tate and presumably her murder at the hands of Charles Manson’s followers.

Here is how Tarantino describes Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: “A story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate.”

According to the report, DiCaprio and Pitt each had “strenuous” negotiations with production company Sony regarding their contracts. Sources told the site that DiCaprio was close to walking away before ultimately coming to terms with Sony.

DiCaprio and Pitt have worked with Tarantino before; Pitt starred in Inglourious Basterds, while DiCaprio was in Django Unchained. As for Tarantino, he said in a statement that he’s been working on the script for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for five years, also noting that he’s been a resident of Los Angeles for the better part of his life. He also noted that he was a 7-year-old living in Los Angeles when Tate and four others were murdered.

“I’m very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore,” Tarantino said. “And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio & Pitt as Rick & Cliff.”

According to Variety reporter Justin Kroll, actress Margot Robbie is still in talks to play Tate. He added that Tarantino is also now talking with other actors for smaller roles, and those should be announced in due time.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood opens in theatres on August 9, 2019. That is the 50th anniversary of the day that Tate was murdered.

It will be Tarantino’s first film with Sony Pictures after the director parted ways with The Weinstein Company in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

Paladins Dev Throws Shade at New Overwatch Character

Hi Rez Studios’ President Stew Chisam has hit back at accusations that Paladins: Champions of the Realm, Hi-Rez’s online team-based game, copied Overwatch, Blizzard’s online team-based game, with some playful shade.

On Twitter, Chisam drew comparisons between the look and abilities of Overwatch’s latest hero Brigitte Lindholm, and those of Paladins’ Ash.

“Quick poll,” Chisam tweeted. “If I happened to notice and point out any similarities between these two characters, would that make me the Pot calling the Kettle black, or the Kettle calling the Pot black? This will keep me up tonight unless I get a clear answer.”

Marvel’s Lockjaw Comic Defies Expectations

By now readers should have a certain idea of what to expect from a comic about Lockjaw. He’s a gigantic, teleporting dog with a habit of getting into wacky adventures when he isn’t busy teleporting the Inhumans to and fro. Tonally, we’re not exactly talking The Dark Knight Returns here. But while this new miniseries is every bit as goofy as one would expect, it also manages to weave in a surprising amount of emotional depth in the process.

The truth is that writer Daniel Kibblesmith and artist Carlos Villa have basically crafted a stealth D-Man comic and disguised it as a Lockjaw book. Not that Lockjaw himself isn’t a prominent fixture in this issue, but his own struggles are generally secondary to that of poor, beleaguered Dennis Dunphy. That swerve may disappoint readers hoping for a completely critter-focused comic in the vein of Pet Avengers. But a good story is a good story, and that’s what Lockjaw delivers.

Wonder Woman 2: Kristen Wiig In Talks To Play The Villain

Kristen Wiig, who is perhaps best known for her parts on Saturday Night Live and Bridesmaids, is reportedly being eyed to play the main villain in Wonder Woman 2. Sources told Variety that Wiig is Warner Bros.’ “top voice” to play Cheetah in the upcoming film. It would be Wiig’s first time in a comic book movie.

According to the report, director Patty Jenkins ranked Wiig high on her list to play Cheetah, and she reportedly informed Wiig of that before the director left for a location scouting trip. Wiig and “top execs” recently met, according to the report, and she is reportedly closer now to officially signing on. Variety’s Justin Kroll said on Twitter that Emma Stone was initially pursued for the part, but she apparently passed on the opportunity.

Wonder Woman 2 is due in theatres on November 1, 2019. Jenkins returns to write, direct, and produce the film, and according to reports, she’s signed a better contract for the sequel that will pay her in the high eight-figure range.

The first Wonder Woman film explored Diana’s roots on the island of Themyscira, before she became the world-famous superhero. Now, Jenkins says, “She’s fully developed, it’s got great fun from the start and great big superhero presence from the start.”

Wonder Woman made more than $800 million worldwide, so it’s no surprise that a sequel is on the way. We don’t know much about the story for the sequel, but Jenkins previously teased that the film “is funny and a great love story again and a couple new unbelievable characters who I’m so excited about, who are very different than were in the last movie.”

Nintendo Launches User Reviews, But Removes Them Right Away And Doesn’t Explain Why

Recently, Nintendo quietly added functionality to its website that allowed users to submit game reviews, but it didn’t take long before Nintendo reversed course. A message on a game page on Nintendo’s website now explains that “customer reviews” have been removed from all pages as the company “evaluate[s] this feature and its functionality.”

Nintendo went on thank fans for their feedback about the feature, including those who “provided such thoughtful commentary on the games.” However, Nintendo said it has no estimate as of yet for when it might provide an update on user reviews, let alone bring them back.

The user review system for Nintendo games was brought to light by Reddit user phantomliger. Before the feature was pulled, it allowed verified users to rate a game out of five stars. When you clicked the “Review This Game” button, the system apparently did a check on your account, only allowing you to review the game if you’d played for at least two hours. If allowed to review, you could write your own commentary and also select pre-made descriptions such as “Fun to Play,” “Immersive,” Great Value,” and others, according to Shacknews.

Nintendo hasn’t explained why it removed the customer review functionality from its website. One potential area of concern with user reviews is the threat of “review bombing.” As we’ve seen on Steam, gamers can tank the overall rating of a title by submitting many low review scores in a short period of time. When controversial current events about a game, potentially, unrelated to its gameplay or design come up, some groups of people may take it upon themselves to express their frustration by review bombing a game. On the other hand, user reviews are a good way to get a quick snapshot of a game’s overall perceived quality to help you make a purchase decision, and it’s especially meaningful when you must play a game to review it.

Netflix Planning To Have More TV Than You’ll Ever Watch By The End Of 2018

In case it wasn’t already painfully obvious, Netflix is working really hard to be the only thing people watch for their entertainment. With every passing week, the service is adding original TV shows and movies, continuing to build their library–and they’re not slowing down anytime soon.

According to Variety, the streamer will have a total of roughly 700 original TV shows by the end of 2018–80 of which will be non-English programming. That figure doesn’t include movies. Netflix previously announced they’d be spending nearly $8 billion on content in 2018, so they’re definitely not hurting for money when it comes to making shows.

The month of March is a perfect example is Netflix’s content strategy. In addition to new episodes of The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale and My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman, 52 new originals will debut on the streaming platform–32 of which are TV shows–next month. Of them all, chances are the second seasons of Marvel’s Jessica Jones and Santa Clarita Diet are the only ones the general public is aware of.

There will also be plenty of movies coming this year, with Netflix planning to release 80 original films in 2018. Thus far, the streamer has released big name titles like Bright, The Cloverfield Paradox, and Mute to a less-than-stellar critical reception. It has also released the first trailer for Adam Sandler’s The Week Of, which debuts in April.

Horizon Zero Dawn Sells 7.6 Million Copies, Setting New PS4 Record

Horizon Zero Dawn has now sold an astonishing 7.6 million copies worldwide following its launch a year ago today. Sales at that level make the RPG from the creators of Killzone the “most successful new first-party franchise launch on PS4” to date, Sony said.

“We had huge ambition for Horizon Zero Dawn and as we approached the launch we knew people were excited, but to see sales of this volume is truly mind blowing,” Guerrilla Games boss Hermen Hulst said in a statement.

Horizon Zero Dawn was released on February 28, 2017, so it’s now exactly one year old. The RPG sold 2.6 million units sold in its first two weeks and 3.4 million as of June 2017. Of those, 915,000 were digital, but no new update on the physical/digital mix was provided today.

To celebrate the milestone, Guerrilla is giving away Horizon Zero Dawn-thened PS4 avatars for characters from the game, including Aloy. A PS4 theme featuring fan-made Photo Mode shots will also be available for free; both items will be available on March 1.

Additionally, for the entirety of March, the Modern Icons Aloy statue is 25 percent off from the PlayStation Gear store. All you have to do is enter the code “anniversary” at checkout.

And if you still haven’t played the game itself, it is marked down nicely right now on the PlayStation Store. As part of the Critic’s Choice sale, you can get the game for only $32.50. Go to the PlayStation Blog to see a full rundown of how Guerrilla is celebrating.

An expansion, The Frozen Wilds, was released in November 2017. You can get the game and the expansion Horizon Zero Dawn’s Complete Edition.
