Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Admiral Holdo Was Force Sensitive

According to Laura Dern, Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Admiral Holdo was Force sensitive.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dern revealed Holdo had an “otherworldly side” to her that did involve the Force. Dern spoke at length with writer-director Rian Johnson, producer Ram Bergman and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy about the character’s backstory and just how in-tune she was with the Force.

“In their minds, and in their understanding of the origin story, we know that she was a true rebel in the Resistance, and in our culture we might have called her a hippie,” Dern said. “But she was longing for peace, and a revolutionary in that way, and wanted to be trained by and led by Leia, who taught her everything she knew.

Avengers: Everything You Need To Know About Infinity War’s Black Order

As you’ve seen by now, Thanos (Josh Brolin) isn’t alone when he comes to Earth in Avengers: Infinity War. He’s brought four scary-looking aliens with him that make up The Black Order. Who is this group of baddies looking to tear through the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though?

Unsurprisingly, they have roots in Marvel Comics. As explained in GameSpot’s look at the group above, they were first introduced in 2013 in the comics as the Cull Obsidian.` However, some major changes were made in the transition from the page to the big screen.

The most notable difference is that a member is missing. In the comics, the Cull Obsidian is a five-member group, consisting of Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Black Dwarf, Supergiant, and Ebony Maw. In Infinity War, though, Supergiant is missing–at least, for now. It’s the only member of the crew not introduced at Disney’s D23 in 2017. Additionally, Black Dwarf’s name has been changed to Cull Obsidian, in a nod to the original group.

It remains to be seen how many of the traits the characters had in the comics will be adapted into the film–like Ebony Maw’s intellect or the fighting ability of Proxima Midnight–but the group, which is also known as the Children of Thanos, look to be no joking matter in the film. Check out the video above to find out everything you need to know about The Black Order before sitting down to watch Avengers: Infinity War. The film hits theaters on April 27.

Free PS4 Update Adds PSVR Mode To Wipeout Omega Collection

Wipeout racers are getting the chance to experience the game in a whole new way for free, starting today. If you own the Wipeout Omega Collection on PS4, the latest free update gets you the ability to play the game in virtual reality. Of course, you also need a PSVR setup already, but if you have one all you have to do to play is update your game and switch on your headset.

Wipeout Omega Collection is a testament to the Wipeout series’s frantic fun. It includes a remastered version of 2008’s Wipeout HD, along with its Fury expansion and the much-improved Wipeout 2048. The free update gives you the chance to play the entire Omega Collection in VR, on any game mode. Three new VR-exclusive ships have also been added in HD, Fury, and 2048 classes. You can check out more Wipeout VR action in the trailer above.

To further boost the VR experience, the game includes full 3D audio and a new remix of “Shake It.” This was provided by the winner of a recent Wipeout contest to create the best remix of the one of the game’s signature songs.

The Wipeout Omega Collection released last year, bringing big graphical updates to the games, running at 1080p on PS4 and dynamic 4K resolution on the PS4 Pro. In GameSpot’s review of Wipeout Omega Collection, Miguel Concepcion said each of the three games exuded their own style and simulation in their own distinct ways, while “collectively [showcasing] the best elements of franchise’s engrossing racing and silky smooth visuals. And even though it doesn’t completely scratch the itch that only a completely new PS4 sequel can offer, this collection is easily the next best thing.”

Donald Glover Uses A Hilarious, Brutal “Script” To Address Deadpool Show Cancellation

Just recently, it was reported that the animated Deadpool TV show had stalled, with showrunner and writer Donald Glover walking away from the project. Glover had been working on the series with his brother Stephen since May last year, but “creative differences” had forced the pair, plus producers FX, to walk away from the partnership with Marvel TV. Now Glover himself has made reference to his exit from the Deadpool show.

Glover’s only direct comment on the matter was a tweet saying that he wasn’t “too busy to work on Deadpool.” This is in response to some reports that his departure from the show was due to his busy schedule–Glover is also the star and producer of the hit comedy Atlanta, as well as an actor in movies such as Solo: A Star Wars Story and an acclaimed musician. However, Glover’s tweet suggests that the reasons for leaving the Deadpool show were nothing to do with his schedule, and the script pages that he shared might provide a clue as to why the actor left.

The pages that Glover posted are clearly not from the show itself, but they are packed with allusions to the show’s cancellation as well as a host of other highly topical references. In the script, Deadpool talks about how Marvel already has plenty of “feel good minority shows that everyone supports but no one watches,” and that his show “would have been funny.” In addition, Deadpool speculates whether now is really the right time to have a “violent gun-toting white man ranting on TV” and comes to the conclusion that “maybe they just wanna sell toys.” Check it out in the series of tweets below:

The canceled Deadpool show was to run for set to 10 episodes in its first season and would have premiered this year on FX sister channel FXX. In May last year, FX programming co-president Nick Grad explained that the show would be “bold, striking, and entirely original.” It seems that it might have been just a bit too bold and original.

In related news, a new trailer for the movie Deadpool 2 arrived this week, which follows last week’s first full trailer. The film hits theaters on May 18, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, and Zazie Beetz.

Deadpool 2: Check Out The Newest Trailer And A Goofy Poster

After a couple of months of strange posters and unconventional promos, we finally got the full, official Deadpool 2 trailer last week. The movie hits theaters on May 18, and now we have a second, green-band trailer, plus a new international poster.

The trailer is largely the same as last week’s red-band version, with some of the language and violence toned down. But there is a new joke, plus a recap of the events from the first movie–watch it below. The new poster meanwhile features Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) alongside Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz)–check it out at the end of this story.

It has also been confirmed that Terry Crews is playing the character of Bedlam in the film. The former football star and Brooklyn 99 actor had never been formally announced as part of the Deadpool 2 cast, and it wasn’t initially exactly clear who he was playing. However a freezeframe in the trailer briefly shows a photo of Crews with the name “Bedlam” beneath it.

Deadpool 2 is directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde). He replaced Tim Miller, who reportedly clashed with Reynolds over the direction of the movie. Earlier this month, it was reported that the film was undergoing reshoots to add more footage of Cable and Domino, who had proven very popular with audiences at test screenings.

In a recent interview with Collider, Brolin spoke about the physical challenges of playing Cable. “I got beat to s*** on that movie,” he said. “I had stuntmen throwing me all over the place. I’ve got a shoulder issue, I’ve got a knee issue that I’ve got to deal with now, but we got through it. We got through it. I pushed hard and I suffered because of it.”

Amazon’s New Comedy Is Kind of a Heartbreaker

At first glance, the Amazon Prime original The Dangerous Book for Boys is a complicated concept for what is ultimately a comedy. Based on a book of advice for young boys by Conn Iggulden and Hal Iggulden, the series follows a family as they struggle with the death of their patriarch. Are you laughing yet? Interestingly, it wasn’t supposed to be funny at first.

“When Sony first said, ‘We have the rights to this book, could you think of a story connected to it?’ it was in the drama department,” executive producer and co-creator Bryan Cranston tells IGN. “So I think that was in the back of my mind, drama. How can I make a drama

Yes, Far Cry 5’s Dog Boomer Is A Good Boy, Ubisoft Support Site Confirms

Dog companions in video games are nothing new, but that doesn’t mean having Boomer–one of Far Cry 5‘s many optional AI allies–around is any less enjoyable. You might also be wondering whether or not he is, in fact, a good boy, and luckily we have an official answer, courtesy of Ubisoft’s support site.

Far Cry 5’s launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One has come, and it’s gone relatively smoothly, certainly compared with something like Sea of Thieves last week. As such, Ubisoft has been afforded the flexibility to have some fun by hosting a support page dedicated entirely to the question, “Is Boomer a good boy?”

“Yes. Yes, Boomer is a very good boy,” the page states. There’s no other context or explanation given; the page otherwise only has the usual links to other support pages and what’s basically a baseball trading card for Boomer.

Silliness aside, Boomer is legitimately useful; he’s one of the game’s nine Specialists, which are better versions of the AI-controlled allies you can recruit to help you out in Far Cry 5. Boomer will tag nearby enemies, which is particularly invaluable for players who are looking to be stealthy, and will sometimes bring back a weapon for you after he attacks an enemy. Utilizing Specialists and Guns for Hire in general is a worthwhile strategy, or you could always just play co-op with a friend, as you can see in the video above.

You can read more about Specialist and Guns for Hire in our Far Cry 5 guide that covers tips we wish we knew before playing. For much more, check out our Far Cry 5 review.

Frank Miller to tackle King Arthur series for Netflix

Netflix has ordered a new King Arthur series from comic book legend Frank Miller.

Netflix has ordered Cursed, for a 10-episode, straight-to-series order. Cursed is based on Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler’s upcoming book of the same name, which tells the King Arthur story through the eyes of a teen girl named Nimue who is destined to become the Lady of the Lake.

After Nimue’s mother dies, she finds an unexpected companion in Arthur and the duo go on a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Miller and Wheeler co-created the series and will executive produce the drama. As for the novel, Wheeler is writing it while Miller is handling the art.

Some of Miller’s works that have been adapted into movies include Sin City, The Dark Knight Returns, 300, and Ronin, just to name a few. Meanwhile, Wheeler penned the script for Puss in Boots and also co-wrote The Lego: Ninjago Movie.
