26 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Villains, Ranked

Over the last 30 years, the Ninja Turtles have amassed quite the rogue’s gallery of villains. Who’s the best of the worst, though? Follow along as we rank 26 of the most memorable Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles villains.

Image: Lionsgate

26. Pizza Monsters

First appearance: 1987 cartoon (Season 2, Episode 6)

It’s not that the Pizza Monsters are all that intimidating or memorable. What puts them on the list, albeit at the end, is they were clearly ripoffs of the xenomorphs from the 1979 film Alien.

There have been more dastardly things to come from Dimension X, but rarely have they been so clearly taken from another franchise.

25. Za-Naron

First appearance: 2012 cartoon (Season 4, Episode 22)

Za-Naron only lasted a single episode, but in it, this entity controlled April O’Neil and turned her against the turtles. It’s a moment no turtle was ready for.

24. Newtralizer

First appearance: 2012 cartoon (Season 1, Episode 24)

The Newtralizer, a member of the Salamandarian race, is a bounty hunter who brought trouble to both the turtles and the Kraang during the 2012 animated series. Fun fact: Newtralizer was voiced by Danny Trejo.

Image: Nickelodeon

23. Stone Generals

First appearance: TMNT (2007)

The chief antagonists of the 2007 animated film, these ancient and massive stone warriors, the siblings of Max Winters, are summoned to help take over the world. Interestingly, they don’t appear in any other incarnation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

22. Jei

First appearance: Usagi Yojimbo #10

Though this character was originally created for the Usagi Yojimbo line of comic books, Jei ultimately crossed over into the Ninja Turtles universe in the 2012 animated series–along with Usagi. With his dark magic abilities and expert ninja skills, he was a force to be reckoned with.

Image: Nickelodeon

21. General Traag

First appearance: 1987 cartoon (Season 1, Episode 4)

Traag, the leader of the rock soldiers, is one of the earliest villains from the original Ninja Turtles animated series. He appeared in 12 episodes, and then made a re-appearance in the 2012 cartoon.

Image: Lionsgate

20. Purple Dragons

First appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1

This street gang appeared in the first ever TMNT comic book in 1984, giving the turtles their first real fight. The mutants killed most of them.

Image: Mirage

19. Agent Bishop

First appearance: 2003 cartoon (Season 3, Episode 3)

As a government agent who prevents alien invasions, Bishop was a thorn in the side of both the Turtles and the Utrom during the 2003 cartoon. It was revealed in the 2012 series that he, himself, was actually an Utrom.

Image: Nickelodeon

18. Tiger Claw

First appearance: 2012 cartoon (Season 2, Episode 13)

The sibling of Alopex — another TMNT villain — this mutant tiger assassin was experimented on by the Kraang. You have to feel some sympathy for a villain who became evil thanks to the actions of someone else.

Image: Nickelodeon

17. Triceratons

First appearance: Fugitoid #1

Initially introduced in a comic book miniseries before the Turtles existed, this race of alien dinosaurs found prominence in the 1987, 2003, and 2012 cartoons. They’re one of the few villains to actually have a win over the turtles in the original animated series.

Image: Nickelodeon

16. Slash

First appearance: 1987 cartoon (Episode 83)

Slash — originally, the pet of Shredder henchman Bebop — became something of a demented version of a Ninja Turtle after getting mutated.

In the 2012 series, he was originally Raphael’s pet turtle.

Image: Lionsgate

15. Danny Pennington

First appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)

Danny is an awkward teenager looking for love and acceptance, finding it in a ninja street gang. He made the right choice in the end but caused a lot of damage along the way: April’s home burned to the ground, the turtles lost their sewer dwelling and Splinter was tortured.

Image: New Line

14. Leatherhead

First appearance: Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #6

Leatherhead is one of the classic turtle villains introduced in the original comics that has managed to survive the test of time, appearing in several graphic novels, video games, and cartoons. Though he was originally a Cajun-accented menace to the turtles, the 2012 animated series recast him as one of their allies.

He works really well on both sides.

Image: Nickelodeon

13. Rat King

First appearance: Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4

As with Leatherhead, Rat King dates back to the original comics. This maniac dwells in the sewers, controlling an army of rats in his attempts to destroy the Turtles.

Image: Lionsgate

12. Master Tatsu

First appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)

Master Tatsu never gets a fair shake in the original Turtles movie. He’s second-in-command of the Foot Clan, and Shredder treats him like just another underling.

His introduction in the 2012 cartoon went a long way in building the character’s legacy as a madman.

Image: New Line

11. Foot Elite

First appearance: Leonardo #1

These are the best the Foot Clan has to offer. Trained by Shredder himself, the Foot Elite serve as a bodyguards who swear their lives to him alone. In the 2012 animated series, they are reimagined as enhanced robots.

Image: Nickelodeon

10. Tokka and Rahzar

First appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze

At the time this movie was released, Tokka and Rahzar seemed like little more than cheap replacements for Bebop and Rocksteady. This massive mutated wolf and snapping turtle deserve some respect, though. While they may have the personalities of babies, these babies nearly kill the turtles in combat.

Image: New Line

9. Alopex

First appearance: Raphael #1

Alopex is one of the best modern TMNT villains. She wasn’t introduced until IDW’s micro-series of comics in 2011, but has since gone on to become a major force in the franchise thanks to her role in the 2012 cartoon. As a mutant ninja herself, this fox was a fierce foe of the turtles — and her brother, Tiger Claw.

Image: IDW

8. Hun

First appearance: 2003 cartoon (Season 1, Episode3)

This leader of the Purple Dragons gang was created specifically for the 2003 animated series, becoming one of its primary antagonists. His size, ninja skills, and street gang army made him a true danger to the turtles.

In the 2012 animated series, he was reimagined as the Chinese American foe of Casey Jones.

Image: Nickelodeon

7. Foot Clan

First appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1

Wherever the Shredder is, the Foot Clan is at his side. His loyal ninja army has been portrayed in a number of ways, from lost teenagers looking for a home in the original movie to robots in the 1987 cartoon.

They have always been a constant presence in the franchise, providing the turtles with more battles than anyone else.

Image: New Line

6. Karai

First appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #53

Karai’s history is complicated. She’s been portrayed as both the adopted and biological daughter of the Shredder. She’s also been played as the biological daughter of Splinter. She was even the love interest of Leonardo at one point.

The constants are her incredible fighting skills and her high-ranking spot within the Foot Clan.

Image: Nickelodeon

5. Baxter Stockman

First appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2

This mad scientist has been making life miserable for the turtles since day one, largely thanks to his Mousers — small killing robots that target sewer rats like Splinter. In certain incarnations of the Turtles franchise, he becomes a mutated fly.

Image: Paramount

4. The producers of Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation

First appearance: Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation (Season 1, Episode 1)

These villains might be the absolute worst — because they exist in real life. This short-lived, live-action show tried (but failed) to emulate the Power Rangers, even crossing over with Power Rangers in Space at one point.

The turtle costumes look cheap, the series introduces a new female turtle that doesn’t mesh well with the crew, and the primary villain is a lizard monster that looks like it’s made out of rubber. The Next Mutation is a stain on the brand that will hopefully be forgotten someday.

Image: Fox

3. Bebop and Rocksteady

First appearance: 1987 cartoon (Season 1, Episode 1)

Though Shredder’s primary henchmen are shown to be incompetent at… everything, they’re featured in most episodes of the original cartoon, along with the 2012 series, comics, and 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

Image: Lionsgate

2. Krang

First appearance: 1987 cartoon (Season 1, Episode 2)

Krang is based on the brain-like Utrom alien race, which have appeared in multiple TMNT properties over the years. Hailing from Dimension X, Krang is Shredder’s micromanager in the first animated series.

Image: Lionsgate

1. Shredder

First appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1

Shredder’s history with the franchise has changed a few times over the years, but his deep connection to Hamato Yoshi — the man that became Splinter — remains intact. Their feud dates back to their time in Japan, and carries on now with Shredder heading the Foot Clan and Splinter training his turtle sons.

Avengers: Infinity War Trailer 2 Reveals A Lot, Watch It Here

The new trailer for Avengers: Infinity War is here. The movie will see every major hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe team up to stop the evil Thanos getting his hands on the Infinity Stones, and causing the end of the world. You can see our Infinity War trailer breakdown for all the small details.

The trailer gives a good indication of just how epic the movie will be, with huge battles between the Marvel heroes and Thanos’s armies, and some amazing-looking action. But there’s also plenty of humor, as some of the characters meet for the first time. In particular, it looks like Star Lord and Tony Stark might have an enjoyably spikey relationship. Check it out above.

Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chadwick Boseman, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Pratt, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Tom Holland. It hits theaters on April 27. It is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who helmed the last two Captain America movies, and will follow it up with next year’s currently untitled Avengers 4.

Avengers: Infinity War Soul Stone: Everything We Know

Thanks to a library of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, the locations of the Infinity Stones at the heart of the conflict in Avengers: Infinity War are well-known. With six stones needed to complete the Infinity Gauntlet, which the film’s latest trailer says will allow Thanos (Josh Brolin) to wipe out half of the universe, five of them are already in play.

What about the sixth, though? The Soul Stone has yet to be discovered in the MCU, but there are several clues to try to figure out exactly where it is. Take a look at the video above to find out everything GameSpot knows about this particular Infinity Stone.

While fans haven’t seen this stone appear in a movie, it has been mentioned. In the comic book “Avengers: Infinity War Prelude #2,” Wong (Benedict Wong) tells Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) that the Soul Stone could potentially be the most important and dangerous of the six glowing rocks.

GameSpot previously theorized that the stone was responsible for the heart-shaped herb in Wakanda, which give the Black Panther his powers. However, Infinity War co-director Anthony Russo said that’s not what brings Thanos to the country. Instead, he’s actually hunting Vision, who is powered by the Mind Stone. So while the Soul Stone could be there, it seems unlikely.

Other theories about the stone’s location range from Heimdall (Idris Elba) having possession to Adam Warlock–teased during a post-credits scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2–somehow being involved. Then again, it’s also possible that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), himself, is the holder of the Soul Stone.

When it comes to this final piece of the Infinity War puzzle, there are a number of outcomes. Of course, the only way you’ll find out the answer for sure is when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27.

The 12 Worst Video Game Movies Ever

Every genre of film has a few stinkers, but the video game movie genre has more than its fair share. After all these years, Hollywood has yet to give us a better video game adaptation than Mortal Kombat, though certainly not for lack of trying. This spring, we’re seeing two more big-budget adaptations thanks to the Tomb Raider reboot (read our review) and Rampage.

Hollywood keeps trying, that’s for sure! And it would be pretty hard to sink lower than the following 12 abysmal video game movies anyway…

Tomb Raider is in theaters now. Find out why star Alicia Vikander wants her version of Lara Croft to be ‘more relatable’ than Angelina Jolie’s. Then learn about the ways in which the recent Tomb Raider games have influenced the movie.

Last Jedi: Mark Hamill’s Theory on What Happened to Luke

Star Wars: The Last Jedi features a significant moment for Luke Skywalker at the end of the film, and Mark Hamill has shared his theory on what happened to his character during that key scene.

Warning: Star Wars: The Last Jedi spoilers follow.

During the The Creative Minds series, which features various U.S. artists, writers, filmmakers, musicians, and digital culture innovators to speak with young Irish audiences, Hamill—who attended as the International Guest of Honor—recalled his experience working on The Last Jedi, noting the ending left him with some questions and a theory of his own.

“I said to them, I said, ‘Are you going to just have the metal hand clang down on the rock?'” Hamill said when recounting his reaction to finding out about how Luke disappears/dies at the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. “I said to Rian

Rusev’s WWE Wrestlemania Open Challenge Answered By Macaulay Culkin

Smackdown‘s Rusev doesn’t have any Wrestlemania plans as of yet, so he took to Twitter to find a celebrity to fight, and many answered the call, including WWE fan and Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin. The two engaged in a delightful Twitter exchange, in which Culkin surely had the upper-hand.

On March 14, Rusev put the challenge out on Twitter, saying, “I need a celebrity to fight me at #WrestleMania34.” The next day, former WWE star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson replied, “Kevin Hart. He’ll put you over but you gotta kayfabe his STD.” In addition, Pitch Perfect‘s Skyler Astin also answered the call as well, while Arrow‘s Stephen Amell–who has worked with WWE previously–said he’s terrified of Rusev.

However, no one answered Rusev’s call better than Macaulay Culkin, who has worked with WWE in the past, most notably by pulling pranks of Chavo Guererro.

Rusev replied that he couldn’t hit Richie Rich or Kevin McAllister, two characters Culkin played as a child. He quickly retorted with this gem.

WWE has a longstanding tradition of putting celebrities in the ring at Wrestlemania. Mr. T fought in the main events for Wrestlemania 1 and 2, and former NFL linebacker Lawrence Taylor fought in the main event of Wrestlemania 11. At Wrestlemania 34, former UFC star Ronda Rousey is involved in a match as well. Celebrities have been a part of WWE’s yearly event since its existence, even outside of the main event matches.

At this time, there is no confirmation as to whether this match will take place, or if Rusev will fight anyone at this year’s Wrestlemania. However, this is strangely a match that the WWE Universe would love to see. Make sure to keep checking back to GameSpot for the upcoming weeks for more news, features, and predictions about WWE’s biggest event of the year.

GTA 5 Sure Can Look Terrible On PC

Grand Theft Auto V can be a visual showpiece on a PC at max settings, thanks to its well-realized world and sheer impressive scope. But what if you took all those standout graphical features and made them awful? What nightmarish body horror would ensue? Unfortunately, we now know the answer.

On this episode of Potato Mode, Joey and Rob intentionally muck up the city of Los Santos. The pair start by turning all the graphical settings down as low as possible, but the result is a surprisingly decent-looking version of the game. Not content to accept defeat in their quest to destroy beautiful things, they start editing background files to manually edit the level-of-detail settings. And that’s when things get weird.

From N64-like textures and fog to cars disappearing into the ground to character models becoming faceless clay-beasts, this particular tour of the fair city is not for the faint of heart. It all ends up the only place it could end: at a strip club, where the talent has morphed into vaguely human, vaguely naked blobs.

Infinity War is the culmination of Marvel’s years-long cinematic universe. It brings in a veritable gaggle of heroes from across various Marvel cinematic properties into one film to fight their looming big-bad, the space warlord Thanos. The story will be based on the Infinity War comic series from the early 1990s, and Marvel films have been hinting heavily at this ultimate story direction since Thanos appeared in a cameo in the post-credits sequence of the first Avengers film.

The new trailer (above) shows several characters across the Marvel spectrum interacting for the first time, like Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. The comics were similarly chock full of heroes, but it being a large event book against a foe with god-like powers, that also meant some high-profile deaths. We expect the movie to follow suit, so prepare yourselves accordingly. You can check out our trailer breakdown of all the easter eggs while you wait for the big day.

Why Does Thanos Want to Kill Half the Universe in Avengers: Infinity War?

The new trailer for Avengers: Infinity War features a key piece of information courtesy of Gamora. She reveals Thanos’ main goal is “to wipe out half the universe,” also adding the how of it all: “If he gets all the Infinity Stones, he can do it with a snap of his fingers.”

This master plan is pulled directly from The Infinity Gauntlet comic written by Jim Starlin and pencilled by George Pérez and Ron Lim where Thanos uses the power of the completed Infinity Gauntlet to instantly kill half of the living beings in existence. He does this as a tribute to Mistress Death in hopes of gaining her favor. Yup, Thanos is essentially in love with the Grim Reaper and is eager to murder his way to her heart. And he does just that with a literal snap of his fingers. Gamora wasn’t kidding!

Another Nintendo Switch Presentation Is Airing Next Week

Nintendo is giving Switch owners another glimpse at some of the many intriguing titles on the way for the console soon. The company announced on Twitter today that it is streaming another presentation next week, this one focusing entirely on indie games coming to Switch.

The Nindies Showcase, as the broadcast is dubbed, airs on Tuesday, March 20, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Nintendo hasn’t revealed how long the presentation will run, but it will highlight the “hottest upcoming indie games for Nintendo Switch.” You’ll be able to stream the Nindies Showcase on Nintendo’s website.

Aside from that, we know very little about next week’s presentation. Nintendo hasn’t specified which games it will showcase during the broadcast, although there are a a few we can reasonably expect to see, such as Runner3; publisher Nicalis recently confirmed that title will launch for Switch (as well as PC) on May 22.

The Nindies Showcase will mark the second presentation Nintendo has aired this month, following last week’s Nintendo Direct. That broadcast contained a ton of announcements about many of Nintendo’s biggest upcoming Switch games, including new details on Mario Tennis Aces, a release date for Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, and the surprise reveal of Super Smash Bros. for Switch. You can see all of the major announcements from that presentation in our Nintendo Direct news roundup.
