New Monster Hunter World Event Quest Adds A Pair Of Cool Shades

Capcom has kicked off a new batch of Event Quests in Monster Hunter World. While this, sadly, means players can no longer get the awesome Wiggler helmet from the Wiggle Me This event (at least, unless it returns to the quest rotation), a slick new piece of headgear is now available in its place for a limited time.

From now until March 15, PS4 and Xbox One players can take on the Flash in the Pan Event Quest. This is a six-star quest that requires a Hunter Rank of 11 or higher. The objective for this particular mission is seemingly straightforward: hunt three Tzitzi-Ya-Ku.

Completing the quest will reward you with materials to create the Shadow Shades α, a slick pair of sunglasses for your hunter. While they don’t look like they’d be particularly helpful when you have a giant dinosaur bearing down on you, at least you’ll look cool while running away. You can take a look at the shades in the tweet above.

In addition to the Flash in the Pan quest, this week marks the start of the Triple Threat Throwdown and A Simple Task Event Quests. The former requires a Hunter Rank of 13 or higher and has players hunt down all targeted monsters; the latter, meanwhile, requires a whopping Hunter Rank of 30, with the objective being to deliver 10 Gourmet Shroomcaps. You can find the full Monster Hunter World Event Quest schedule on the game’s official website.

PS4 players also still have a little time left to take on the second Horizon Zero Dawn crossover quest, The Proving. That runs until March 15 and gives players materials to craft Aloy’s bow and armor. You can find out exactly how to unlock the Horizon gear in our guide. Future collaborations will also allow players to craft Street Fighter armor and Mega Man Palico gear.

In other news, Capcom recently announced it will hold a Monster Hunter World stream next week in Japan. While the publisher didn’t elaborate on what it will showcase during the stream, it does promise to share the “latest details” about Monster Hunter World. That could potentially include its first major content update, which introduces the ferocious Deviljho. Capcom has previously only said that update will arrive at some point this spring.

$368 Xbox One X With Extra Controller Is A Terrific Deal For A Very Limited Time In The US

Following its release last year, we’ve seen a number of deals on Xbox One X, Microsoft’s 4K-capable games console, to start 2018. What might very well be the best of the bunch is now available, but you’ll have to act fast if you’re interested.

Over on Ebay, highly rated seller antonline is currently selling the Xbox One X with an extra controller at a discount (via Wario64). What would normally cost around $560 is down to $460, but a limited-time promo code knocks that down even further, bringing the final price to $368. That’s nearly $200 less than the full price you’d expect to pay for this package. Shipping is free, but the offer is only available in the United States.

In order to get this price, you’ll need to enter the promo code PSPRING20 at checkout. This is the same offer code that can be applied for a wide variety of things on Ebay right now, also bringing us some excellent PS4 Pro and Switch deals. The code is only usable today, March 9, until 8 PM PT / 11 PM ET. We saw the aforementioned Switch offer sell out rapidly, and that could be the case again here given the savings available. As such, you may need to get your order in before the promo code expires if you want to ensure you get this price.

You won’t get any bundled games with this, but given how much less you’re paying than normal, you can spend that extra cash on anything you’d like. If you do pick the system up, you can check out the games the Xbox Store has on sale this week.

Tommy Wiseau’s Creepy New “Movie” Isn’t Actually A Movie At All–It’s A Music Video

Update: Though it was reported that Scary Love would be the next film to star Tommy Wiseau, it turns out none of that was actually true. Instead, Scary Love is actually a music video by the band The Neighbourhood, starring Wiseau shooting laser guns in a neon diner. While still incredibly on-brand for the writer, director, and star of The Room, it’s hard not to be disappointed that the project isn’t the movie we were expecting. You can take a look at the music video below, then continue on for the original story.

Are you ready for a new Tommy Wiseau movie? Whether you are or not, the mastermind behind the cult classic film The Room–which inspired The Disaster Artist–is ready for the world to see his next project. And, of course, it looks just as bizarre as the movie that made Wiseau famous.

Scary Love is set in a neon-lit future Los Angeles. A plot synopsis reads, “Tommy Wiseau plays a bounty hunter in search of his long lost love. But while the Wars of Cancellation have turned his city to rubble his search for love is rife with complications in a population full of mutants, freaks, and cannibals.”

If there is one thing society needs, it’s Wiseau starring as the hero of a sci-fi movie set in a dystopian future hellscape, right? What’s better, the movie’s description promises “practical special effects, laser beams, and lunatic ideas” worthy of a classic B-movie.

While this may sound like something that would come from Wiseau’s mind–which must be filled with “lunatic ideas”–he’s merely the star of this particular project. That’s right, he was hired by another director to act in the film. Perhaps, The Room really has paid off.

Scary Love is directed by Jennifer Juniper Stratford, whose previous credits include being a wardrobe supervisor on MTV’s Jackass and serving as writer and director for the web series Multinauts. At this point, there is no announced release date for Scary Love. However, Wiseau also has the movie Best F(r)iends, in which he co-stars with his The Room collaborator Greg Sestero, releasing in two parts in March and June 2018.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch is Probably a New Game

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch is coming, and although it’s not a massive surprise, it’s arrival on Switch is still one that fans have been eagerly awaiting for some time now. We know who the developers are, as well as some confirmed characters and a release window – but the big question looming over everyone’s head right now: is Super Smash Bros. for Switch a port of Smash for Wii U, or an entirely new game?

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U released in 2014 and stopped receiving updates and DLC in 2016. So considering that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is due for a sequel, a new entry in the franchise on Switch would make a lot of sense. Now, we know that Nintendo is no stranger to porting big Wii U games over to Switch—along with some bonus features—such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokken Tournament DX, the former of which also gained Splatoon 2 characters in its move to the new console. That said, we still think there’s good reason to believe that Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch will, in fact, be an entirely new entry for the series.

H1Z1 Review – A Battle Royale In Search of Identity

In between the very start of an H1Z1 match – in which up to 150 people parachute down onto a small and continually shrinking map – and the final moments laced with exploding crossbow bolts, it’s utter chaos. Sometimes that’s the good kind that leads to great moments of action, and sometimes it’s the disorganized and directionless kind that leads to boredom. In a genre now dominated by Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, this battle royale struggles to find its own identity despite predating both – with the most promising spark of inspiration coming from an inventive new destruction derby-style mode.

H1Z1 is actually a refreshingly simple game in a lot of ways when all is said and done. Where contemporaries PUBG and Fortnite define themselves by aiming for a realistic feel and zany base-building shenanigans, respectively, H1Z1 floats somewhere in the middle. You can’t attach scopes and quick-draw magazines to your rifles and there are no sky bases or mile-high sniper towers to be found in this one. That lack of commitment to a signature look and style often leaves an empty feeling, even if it does have the benefit of being a more accessible battle royale as a result.

SHIELD’s 100th Episode Was an Emotional Ride

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

Agents of SHIELD went big for its landmark 100th episode, though not in the way you might think. Yes, there was plenty of action, and various elements of danger, but this was a very internal and personal episode with some very grand and wonderful emotional moments.

Sure, the idea of a timespace rip unleashing a “fear” dimension that can weaponize someone’s various anxieties was a convenient way to bring back a few Ghosts of Christmas Past, but it was also so ludicrous that it actually played really well into Coulson’s big “Total Recall” moment when he was confronted by Mike Peterson (the returning J. August Richards) and told he was, in a sense, Jacob’s Ladder’ing the entire show.
