Avengers: Infinity War Has an Arrested Development Easter Egg

Avengers: Infinity War has worked hard to establish itself as the biggest crossover event in film history, but directors Joe and Anthony Russo haven’t stopped with just squeezing The Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Black Panther crew, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange into a single movie – they’re even shoehorned in a character from Arrested Development for good measure.

During the Guardians of the Galaxy’s visit to Knowhere a blue-skinned Tobias Fünke can be seen reclining in one of The Collector’s display cases, slumped against the glass in a pair of denim cutoffs. Tobias’ ongoing obsession with joining the Blue Man Group is one of the show’s most-memorable gags. The cameo was spotted by a sharp-eyed fan, via Pajiba.

How Apple is Attempting to Lead the AR Future

When Apple’s new augmented reality platform ARKit was announced six months ago, it was designed to bring accessibility to a market that previously required developers to create or onboard their own tech. So accessible was the platform that the AR-heavy future that has seemingly been looming for years suddenly felt a lot closer; on the cusp of becoming as omnipresent as that first week when Pokemon GO spread throughout the globe like an infection.

So are we experiencing the AR revolution? Not quite. We’re yet to see children’s bedtime stories unfolding in exquisite 3D detail as demonstrated in Apple’s ARKit announcement, and it’s safe to say most people are still using tape measures over AR ruler tools in their homes. Pokemon GO is still enjoying a healthy user base, but feels like something of an anomaly; a perfect combination of gimmick and franchise popularity that no AR app has touched since.

Avengers: Infinity War’s Surprise Returning Character Was Recast

The villainous Red Skull — whose fate has been unclear since he disappeared in a Tesseract-induced glow at the end of 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger — makes a surprise return appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. But that’s not original actor Hugo Weaving playing the character this time around.

The Walking Dead’s Ross Marquand succeeds Weaving in the role of the Hydra leader-turned-Soul Stone keeper on the planet Vormir. In addition to playing“Aaron” on AMC’s hit zombie TV series, Marquand is also a master of celebrity impressions (as seen here and here). Marquand certainly captures enough of Weaving’s voice and delivery in Infinity War to make this new version of Red Skull tough to differentiate from the original.

Avengers: Infinity War Ending Explained

The end of Avengers: Infinity War completely changes the status quo of the MCU, so we’re here to break down all the big twists of the Avengers’ final showdown with Thanos, and explain what that ending could mean for Avengers 4. Needless to say, there are major spoilers ahead.

The final act of Infinity War takes place on multiple fronts, with Thanos facing off with Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and half of the Guardians of the Galaxy on his home world – Saturn’s decimated moon, Titan – in an attempt to get the Time Stone, while his Black Order henchmen and their outriders attack Wakanda to try and yank the Mind Stone from Vision.

How’s Xbox Doing? Here Are The Big Takeaways

Microsoft today reported earnings for the quarter ended March 31, and the company’s Xbox division posted strong numbers. The Xbox business saw revenue rise 18 percent to $2.25 billion, led by gains in software and services, not hardware. Software and services posted gains of 24 percent, and importantly, Microsoft said this was driven “mainly from third-party title strength.” It’s notable because it shows Microsoft can have a successful quarter, even when it relies on games made by other companies. Microsoft’s Sea of Thieves was released on March 20, so it is counted within the quarter, but only for a few days. Still, it’s interesting that it’s not mentioned in Microsoft’s report today, as Sea of Thieves quickly became Microsoft’s fastest-selling new IP on Xbox One.

The company’s fortunes may improve further still when some of its own big games come out later this year like State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3, as well as whatever might get announced at E3 in June.

Additionally, Microsoft announced that the number of “active” Xbox Live users rose 13 percent to 59 million for the quarter. Microsoft said Xbox Live posted “continued growth” across Xbox One, Windows 10, and mobile when it comes to Xbox Live.

Microsoft’s Xbox business unit is part of the company’s More Personal Computing division, which also includes Windows Commercial and Windows OEM and Surface. The More Personal Computing division posted a revenue gain of 13 percent. Microsoft overall–comprising all divisions–posted revenue of $26.8 billion (up 16 percent) and a profit of $7.4 billion (up 35 percent), so it was good times all around for Microsoft this quarter.

The next big event for Xbox is E3, which takes place in June. Microsoft has big plans for this year’s event, and we’re sure hoping to see the next Halo and lots more.

Arrow Builds a Path to its Season Finale

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.

Arrow has very suddenly turned a corner in the last month, finally living up to its potential again as the feud between Oliver Queen and Ricardo Diaz has come into focus. The show has taken a stripped-down, streamlined approach lately that’s really paid off. The question, though, is whether Arrow will simply fall back into old habits as the other members of team Arrow reenter the picture. Judging from “Shifting Allegiances,” there’s some cause for concern.

I’m not sure I realized just how little I’ve actually missed Wild Dog until he made his return this week. Season 6 is burdened with too many characters on both the hero and villain side of things. It doesn’t help that Rene’s character arc feels so redundant at the moment. He’s basically struggling through the same problems Diggle was at the beginning of the season. It would be one thing if this superhero PTSD subplot were a way of shuffling Rene out the limelight, but there’s little indication that he and his team are going anywhere right now.
