John Marston Is In Red Dead Redemption 2, New Trailer Reveals

As promised, Rockstar Games has delivered the first new trailer for its much-anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2–the first in more than six months. Much like the previous ones, this primarily focuses on teasing the game’s narrative rather than showcasing significant gameplay, and while we’re left to guess what most of it means, there is one reveal of note.

John Marston, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption, will play a role in RDR2. This game sees you assume the role of Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang. But during the course of the trailer, there’s a quick shot of a bearded man being held by the neck with some cuts on his nose and right cheek. Yes, there seems to be no doubt that John Marston–another Van der Linde gang member–is back, and we’ll apparently find out how he got those scars of his.

Beyond that brief moment, there’s no further time spent with Marston, so we don’t yet know how significant of a role he’ll play. RDR2 is a prequel, and we know based on our breakdown of a previous trailer that a number of familiar faces will also show up. But this is the first indication that Marston himself will be included in some capacity.

Whereas RDR took place in 1911, RDR2 is set in 1899. And although the trailer itself doesn’t fill in many details about what the story involves, an accompanying description from Rockstar sets up what’s going on. “The end of the Wild West era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed,” it reads. “After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”

Following some previous delays, RDR2 is set to release on October 26 for PS4 and Xbox One. Rockstar and parent company Take-Two insist it won’t be delayed again. There’s still no word on a PC version.

Free PS Plus PS4 Games For May 2018 Out Now

The first Tuesday of the month has arrived, which means a new set of PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games is now available for PlayStation Plus members to download for free. You have six games waiting for you across all systems for May 2018, but because several of them are Cross-Buy, you’ll get three games for PS4.

This month’s PS4 offerings are headlined by Beyond: Two Souls, a game from Quantic Dream, the makers of this month’s big PS4 exclusive, Detroit: Become Human. Like Detroit, Beyond: Two Souls is a cinematic, narrative-driven game whose plot largely hinges around the choices you make. May’s other free PS4 game is the stylish, well-received platformer Rayman Legends.

Over on PS3, you get the action RPG Risen 3: Titan Lords as well as the arcade-style game Eat Them, which has you design a monster and use it to go wreck a city. PS Vita owners can download the similarly destruction-based game King Oddball and the physics puzzle game Furmins. King Oddball supports Cross-Buy and is playable on PS3 and PS4 as well.

All of these games are free to download until Tuesday, June 5, and you can play them as long as you have an active PS Plus membership. You can download the games from your PlayStation device, or from the web-based PlayStation Store.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Confirmed to Feature John Marston

The latest trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 has finally revealed that the last game’s protagonist, John Marston will make an appearance.

We see two brief shots of a younger Marston, fresh from receiving his trademark scars, and clearly in trouble with what looks to be a rival gang.

Untitled-11

It was always likely that Marston would appear considering his connection to the Van Der Linde gang. In the first game, Marston was coerced into tracking down members of the gang he was once a part of. The new game, set before the events of the first, sees you play as Dutch Van der Linde’s right-hand man, Arthur Morgan.

Ryan Reynolds Is Unsure if Deadpool 3 Will Happen

Ryan Reynolds doesn’t know if Deadpool 3 will happen.

Speaking to EW, Reynolds touched on the possibility of making a third film in the franchise, saying he’s unsure at this time. According to the actor, Deadpool 3 might be a bit derivative. However, Reynolds does see the X-Force as being the next logical step for the Merc with a Mouth.

“I don’t know that there would be a Deadpool 3. I really don’t,” Reynolds said. “I feel like the character, in order for him to function properly within his own universe, you need to take everything away from him. I don’t think that you can keep doing that.

Paladins Leaving Early Access Next Week

After more than a year and a half in early access, free-to-play shooter Paladins will officially launch on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on May 8.

While the launch patch has already been pushed into the live game, adding a Battle Pass system along with other changes, Developer Hi-Rez Studios says the official launch marks its commitment to the current direction of the game. Paladins will still regularly receive updates with new content, bug fixes, and more, but Hi-Rez doesn’t plan to make any more major system changes.

Leading up to the launch, every champion in the game will be temporarily unlocked for all players until May 7. Paladins will also be giving 200 Crystals ($5 worth of premium currency) to anyone who has played before May 8 and then logs in between May 8 and May 31.

Elizabeth Olsen Wants a New Costume for Scarlet Witch

Elizabeth Olsen wants a new, less-revealing costume for Scarlet Witch although she acknowledges that they’re more about creating “iconic images” than “representing the average woman.”

Olsen talked about her character’s costume in an interview with Elle, saying that she’s happy to wear a corset, but she’d prefer it to be less revealing. “I like corsets, but I’d like it to be higher,” she said.

“Everyone has these things that cover them—Tessa Thompson

does, Scarlett

does. I would like to cover up a bit. It’s funny because sometimes I look around and I’m just like—wow, I’m the only one who has cleavage, and that’s a constant joke because they haven’t really evolved my superhero costume that much.”

Iron Man Turns 10: Read IGN’s Review of the First MCU Movie

The first Iron Man movie opened 10 years ago today and with it the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it was born, culminating a decade later in this past weekend’s record-smashing release of Avengers: Infinity War.

It is easy to forget now how risky 2008’s Iron Man was — that he was deemed a lower-tier Marvel character, hardly the cornerstone of what would become an industry-changing movie empire.

IGN’s reviewer, Todd Gilchrist, weighed the film within the context of a time where there was no MCU, Robert Downey Jr. was a talented, but troubled actor looking for a comeback role, and Iron Man being a Marvel origin story movie released in the wake of 2005’s highly influential DC movie Batman Begins. (You may also recall that the MCU’s Phase One movies were released by Paramount Pictures and not Disney, who wouldn’t buy Marvel until August 2009.)

Extremity’s Masterful Revenge Tale Preys On Your Fear of Losing What Matters Most

Extremity by writer-artist Daniel Warren Johnson is a comic book with a story as bloody as it is personal, told with art so tragically beautiful that you can’t tear your eyes away. It takes place in a fictional world fully realized from the first page, opening a path for the reader to follow into its apocalyptic landscape filled with warring clans, retrofuturistic technology, and flying fortresses. But what makes Johnson’s 12-part epic one of the best comics in recent memory is how it’s driven by a uniquely personal tragedy suffered by main protagonist Thea. An artist by trade, Johnson’s greatest fear has always been losing his ability to draw, and so he injected that fear into his story in brutal fashion: when Thea’s village is raided by a rival clan in the opening pages of the story, a cruel warrior slices off her pencil hand.
