Sesame Street Suing R-Rated Puppet Movie The Happytime Murders

Sesame Workshop, the non-profit behind the beloved long-running children’s TV show Sesame Street, has filed a lawsuit against the upcoming R-rated puppet comedy The Happytime Murders.

Per The Wrap, the lawsuit states that the marketing campaign for the movie appropriates the Sesame Street brand to sell its violent and raunchy message.

The Happytime Murders is produced by STX Productions and directed by Brian Henson, son of Muppets creator Jim Henson. Its trailer promises to show what puppets get up to when kids aren’t around, and comes with the tagline “No Sesame, All Street.”
