MCU Has ‘Plans’ to Introduce Ms. Marvel After Captain Marvel

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed there are “plans” to introduce Ms. Marvel into the MCU after Captain Marvel.

“Captain Marvel’s shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works,” Feige told BBC (via Twitter user @StaarksHeart). “We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.”

Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan first appeared in Captain Marvel #14 and then got her own solo series, dubbed Ms. Marvel, which debuted in February 2014. Read our review of Ms. Marvel #1.

Donald Glover Desperately Wanted To Play Lando Before Star Wars Solo Was Announced

Donald Glover playing Lando Calrissian feels like a perfect fit, and it is not just Star Wars fans thinking that. Glover himself was incredibly excited to take on the role, even before the film was even announced, as the multi-talented actor explained at a recent Solo press conference, which took place two weeks prior to the May 25 release of the movie.

Lando Calrissian was one of the few supporting characters that hasn’t been included in the recent Star Wars sequels or Rogue One spin-off in the past couple of years, so it was only a matter of time before he showed up. Donald Glover, who currently stars on FX’s Atlanta and makes music under the name Childish Gambino, knew Lando would make his return and wanted to get an audition as soon as it was available.

“When I heard they were making these, I told my agent, ‘if they’re making anything with Lando in it, I have to be Lando,'” explained Glover. “And he was like, ‘I hear you. I don’t like your odds.’ And that was exactly what I needed to hear. It was the only role I’ve wanted in the world to do. I’m just really happy to be a part of this experience.”

Why his agent said that wasn’t explained. However, Glover wasn’t as big of a name back when he confirmed he was playing the role in spring of 2016. At that time, he was primarily known for his work on NBC comedy series Community as well as for his musical career. At that time, Glover had not appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Atlanta was a few months out from starting its series premiere. All of those roles helped show the acting depth he has, and luckily, the casting behind Solo took note.

While full reviews for Solo aren’t out yet, there have been some reactions on Twitter from those who got to see an early screening of the film. Most people are saying it takes a little while to get used to seeing Alden Ehrenreich playing Han Solo, as opposed to Harrison Ford who played the character in the four previous Star Wars films. However, many of the critics seemed pleased with the film, which is a relief, considering the amount of trouble this film had during production.

Solo: A Star Wars Story comes to theaters on May 25, and it’s expected to break box office records when it releases in the next couple of weeks. Make sure to check back on May 15 for GameSpot’s full review.

Pillars Of Eternity Is Both A Weird And Familiar RPG

Pillars Of Eternity Is Both A Weird And Familiar RPG

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire upends your expectations with an impressive amount of creativity. GameSpot discusses why it’s anything but a typical CRPG.

It’s settled: classic computer RPGs are back in fashion. Last year brought us the endlessly charming and inventive Divinity: Original Sin 2, a game that was big, full of surprises, and a blast to play co-op. And Obsidian recently stepped back into the conversation with Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, the follow-up to its 2015 hit. While Deadfire is broadly similar to Divinity and other pseudo Dungeons and Dragons games in many ways, its particular blend of tradition and innovation makes it stand out for reasons all its own.

The overarching story is one steeped in the divine. A colossal statue possessed by a god tramples across the land with mysterious motivations. A collective of other deities watch from afar, relinquishing your hollow earthly visage to the land of the living to do their bidding as they so wish. But despite being a veritable soulless pawn, you’re afforded a great amount of freedom to intermingle with townsfolk, seek your own objectives, and sail the seas in search of adventure.

No matter which path you follow, Deadfire rewards your curiosity almost without fail. For every expected fantasy trope there’s a quirky interaction or scenario that catches you off guard and reminds you of the potential that makes open-ended games so intriguing.

In the video above, Ben, Jean-Luc, and Peter recount some of their favorite experiences from their time with the game so far. It’s telling that despite their limited time in the Deadfire Archipelago, they already have drastically different stories to share, and unique motivations carrying them through the game.

In their review of Pillars of Eternity 2, Dan Starkey echoed the groups thoughts: “…the real value of Deadfire is how its setting tees up new stories and tales of exploration and adventure.” If you’ve had a chance to play the game, what are some of your favorite moments thus far? Let’s talk about it in the comments–that is, if you aren’t too busy scouring Deadfire for trouble and treasure.

15 Games That Were Way Better Than Expected

Not all games receive positive fanfare upon their announcement or in the lead up to release. Heavy skepticism can follow a game for one reason or another. Sometimes it occurs due to a game being a drastic shift from past entries of a long-established franchise. Other times it’s a prolonged development cycle that colors our expectations, typically resulting in cynicism or apathy.

While there are games that ultimately fall in line with our worst expectations, there are plenty that manage to defy the odds. Everyone loves a good underdog success story, so we’ve compiled 15 of the most amazing games that defied widely held skepticisms and turned out to be great after all.

What are some of your favorite games that defied expectations? Let us know in the comments below. Otherwise, be sure to keep up on our upcoming E3 2018 coverage.
