How AC: Odyssey Indicates Google Stadia’s 3rd Party Plans

Google Stadia’s announcement keynote at GDC included a few recognizable developers — Id Software with Doom Eternal and RIme developer Tequilia Works among them. But it’s Google’s partnership for Project Steam with Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that is the real indicator of what games Google plans to bring to its new streaming game platform.

Speaking with IGN at GDC 2019, Vice President and GM at Google Phil Harrison explained that viewers shouldn’t “read too much into who we had on our stage.”

“Don’t read too much into who we had on our stage yesterday and who we didn’t have on our stage,” Harrison said. “

Batman’s Knightmare Needs to End

Is there a minimum amount of story content a comic book is obligated to deliver? When it comes to the latest Batman storyline, DC doesn’t seem to think so. “Knightmares” has certainly has its moments over the past few months (issue #66 in particular), but the arc as a whole has been a huge momentum killer for the series. Batman #67 is easily the worst offender so far. Why is so much room being devoted to such a seemingly straightforward conflict? Why is this chapter in particular so barren and devoid of meaningful insight into Batman’s current state of mind?

This issue is all the more disappointing given that it’s basically a sequel to the surprisingly excellent Batman/Elmer Fudd #1. That’s true both in terms of certain character cameos and the fact that writer Tom King reunites with artist Lee Weeks. But as fun as it is to see these realistic, noir-flavored riffs on Looney Tunes icons again, they really are just bit players in a story that boils down to one, prolonged chase sequence. This issue is almost entirely devoid of plot and dialogue, instead fixating on Batman’s relentless pursuit of his silent, masked foe.

Why One-Punch Man: Season 2’s Animation Is So Different

A new One-Punch Man Season 2 trailer has arrived, garnering nearly 1.5 million views on IGN in less than 24 hours – but after watching it, some fans feel like they’ve taken a punch to the gut, with the animation being far from a knock-out.

Many fan reactions on social media seem to criticize the trailer’s animation style, with viewers noticing the prevalence of 3DCG, lack of action, odd pacing, and overall less-than-stellar quality. Dozens of comments were posted on IGN’s One-Punch Man trailer, including one from user omgseriouslydude which called the animation “plain” with “a lot of still frames and flash animation-like movements,” compared to the Season 1 approach. Check out a selection of fan reactions below:

Avengers: Endgame Synopsis Points To An Epic Conclusion 22 Films In The Making

Marvel Studios has released what looks like the official plot synopsis for Avengers: Endgame. It doesn’t contain any spoilers or surprises if you’ve seen Infinity War. Instead, it focuses on hyping up a dramatic conclusion to a story that’s been 22 films in the making.

The synopsis comes from Marvel’s official website, which people recently discovered was updated to include the following description for Endgame:

“The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.

The 22 films reference to the all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films released since 2008, beginning with Iron Man. Endgame is the 22nd film in the series.

Avengers: Infinity War ended in dramatic fashion, with the evil Thanos snapping away half of the galaxy’s population. Lots of people died, including superheroes that fans have come to know and love. In Endgame, the remaining members of the Avengers have apparently devised a plan to make things right–though it remains to be seen if the beloved fallen heroes will be resurrected by some means.

Many fans believe “the snap” may be undone in Endgame, given that many of the characters who perished have future movies in the pipeline. According to writer Christopher Markus, the deaths from Infinity War are “real,” at least in some fashion.

“It is a different movie than you think it is,” Markus said about Endgame. “We broke your heart. Now we’re going to blow your mind.”

Endgame hits theatres on April 26. It’ll be the second Marvel movie in as many months, following the box office smash Captain Marvel in March. Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson returns to play the character again in Endgame, and she can be seen in the newest Endgame trailer that’s embedded above.
