SPOILERS ahead for the Captain Marvel movie!

The shape-shifting alien Skrulls finally made their MCU debut in Captain Marvel, but given that it turns out they’re not really villains like they’ve long been in the comics, does that rule out their most iconic comics storyline, 2008’s Secret Invasion, from ever getting the big screen treatment?

Secret Invasion — which saw the Skrulls covertly replace key members in governments and superhero teams around the globe and then activate those sleeper agents in an attempt to take over the world — is why so many fans have spent nearly two years posting theories on which member of the Avengers has been a Skrull this whole time. But now, given the Skrulls’ redemptive treatment in Captain Marvel, a Secret Invasion film seems unlikely.

This is an advanced, spoiler-free review of FX’s What We Do in the Shadows series, which had its world premiere at SXSW on March 8. The show premieres March 27 at 10 p.m. on FX.

Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement may not have been household names back in 2014, when the multitalented New Zealanders debuted their indie vampire mockumentary, What We Do in the Shadows — but in the years since its release, you’ve likely seen Waititi’s directorial talents on display in Thor: Ragnarok or The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, or admired Clement’s performances in projects as varied as FX’s Legion and Disney’s Moana. (Or maybe you were ahead of the curve and watched their earlier collaboration, Flight of the Conchords, in which case, you get bonus points.)

Warning: Spoilers, of course, follow for Captain Marvel.

So… Marvel just can’t get away from those darned Infinity Stones, can they? Captain Marvel is just the latest movie to feature one of the Stones, in this case the Tesseract, even though it’s set about 20 years before the Great Decimation seen at the end of Avengers: Infinity War where Thanos used the stones to wipe out half of all life everywhere.

But before that universe-altering event, Carol Danvers had to contend with just one of the Stones — the Space Stone. At that point in its history (the film is set in the 1990s), that particular cosmic power source was still contained within the cube known as the Tesseract. And not surprisingly, the appearance of the Tesseract in Captain Marvel has some fans confused. Does its presence there really make sense, or did Marvel goof? How did S.H.I.E.L.D. get the Tesseract? How did Annette Bening’s Mar-Vell get the Tesseract for that matter? Well, as it turns out, Captain Marvel may be pulling a bit of a ret-con here, but it all makes sense in the final analysis. Let’s break down the timeline of the Tesseract!

According a recently discovered report, 209 of the around 800 employees who were laid off as part of the Activision Blizzard restructuring worked on the Blizzard side of the gaming company.

As reported by Variety, records were obtained from California’s Employment Development Department that stated that these 209 Blizzard layoffs impacted those around the U.S., including Irvine, Santa Monica, and Burbank in California, New York City, Austin (Texas), and Bloomington (Minnesota).

These employees were given 60 days of compensation and benefits and “none were represented by a union, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state by Blizzard on Feb. 12.”
