Starship Troopers – Terran Command, An RTS Due In 2020, Announced–Here’s The First Trailer

A new Starship Troopers game is on the way, and it’s an RTS that will pit your human army against the bug-like aliens that franchise fans are so familiar with. A first look gameplay trailer for Starship Troopers – Terran Command has been released, with the game due at some point in 2020. It shows off a short snippet of alpha gameplay, as the human forces are overrun by Arachnid.

There’s also an announcement trailer to enjoy, which captures the pulpy feel of the game. It comes from the creators of the Order of Battle series, and has only been announced for PC.

The game is set in the universe of the Starship Troopers films, which started with Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 satirical sci-fi action movie that spawned multiple sequels. In the game, you’ll fight over different planetary campaigns, and the story and missions you take on will change depending on your choices. Since the Arachnid enemies greatly outnumber you, you’ll need to account for this in your tactics, and use the numerous different units and abilities at your disposal to fight them.

The game is available to wishlist on Steam, where some additional key features are listed:

  • Dynamically generated campaigns for virtually limitless replayability.
  • Dozens of unique unit types, each with their own special abilities.
  • Terrain elevation, True Line of Sight & True Line of Fire provide deep tactical gameplay.
  • An extensive technology tree to develop and customize your forces.
  • Persistent leaders can be attached to units and upgraded throughout the campaign.
  • Heroics, explosions, gore, and Bugs. Lots of Bugs.

PlayStation Awarded Guinness World Record

PlayStation has been certified the “best-selling videogame home console brand ever” by Guinness World Records. The achievement was awarded in light of combined sales of PlayStation hardware totalling some 450,190,000 units between the original console’s launch in Japan on 3 December 1994 and 7 November 2019. The record includes hardware sales of PlayStation, PS2, PS3 and PS4, based on figures from VGChartz.

An event to commemorate this milestone was held in Tokyo on 3 December 2019, PlayStation’s 25th anniversary, and was attended by Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan and former CEO Ken Kutaragi, who is fondly referred to as “The father of the PlayStation” for his work leading the development of Sony’s first game console in the 1990s.

Black Widow First Trailer Breakdown: Everything You Might Miss

Black Widow: The First Official Trailer is Here

The first trailer for Black Widow has been released, and it shows off more than just Scarlett Johansson’s lead character.

Natasha Romanoff has been an integral part of The Avengers since the beginning. Her debut in Iron Man 2 solidified her as an adept fighter and a covert operative. Her powers of persuasion made an impression on Loki in The Avengers. Her boldness in Captain America: Winter Soldier dismantled both S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra from the inside out. And her valiant sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame saved the universe.

Now, Natasha Romanoff is back in her own stand-alone Marvel film. Black Widow hits theaters in May of 2020 and will officially kick off Marvel Phase 4. You can watch the first full-length trailer for Black Widow above.

Marvel Releases First Black Widow Trailer – Watch It Here

Marvel has finally released the long-awaited first Black Widow trailer. Fans have been awaiting the upcoming standalone film, starring Scarlett Johansson, for years, and this is the general public’s first official look (Disney showed sneak peeks to fans during the D23 conference and at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, but that footage never went wide).

The Black Widow trailer was posted by Marvel Studios’ official Twitter account (and on YouTube) in the early hours of the morning, and it spans a full two minutes. Watch it below:

“I used to have nothing. And then I got this job–this family. But nothing lasts forever,” Natasha Romanoff–AKA Black Widow–says as the trailer opens. Fans who saw Avengers: Endgame this year are well aware of that, as Johansson’s character met a grisly end in the conclusion to the 20+ film Infinity War Saga. (Fans should also recognize that line, as it’s actually from Endgame, not this movie.) Anyway, Natasha’s fate in Endgame makes it extra strange that she’s getting her standalone movie posthumously–a first for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which, to be fair, has made plenty of firsts over the last decade.

Obviously, Black Widow will take place before the events of Endgame, and David Harbour told IGN recently that it takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War. Beyond Johansson, the cast also includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Harbour as Alexei (AKA Red Guardian), Rachel Weisz as Melina, and O-T Fagbenle as a character named Mason.

With its May 1 2020 release date, Black Widow will officially kick off the MCU’s Phase 4. If this trailer is anything to go by, it should prove to be a thrilling opening chapter in the next Marvel movie saga.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Cast On What To Expect From The Saga-Ending Movie

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker will finally be with us on December 20, and in the lead up to the film’s release many fans are keen for more information about how the nine-film saga will end. We know that some elements of the Star Wars universe are best kept mysterious, and the cast recently teased fans by hinting at their reactions to the ending. Now, thanks to a special aired by Entertainment Weekly on People TV, we have a few more hints about what to expect.

The full special, embedded below, runs for 22 minutes. We’ve rounded up the juiciest highlights from it.

According to Daisy Ridley (Rey), The Rise of Skywalker is “a more, measured, adult approach to the Star Wars journey” when compared to the first two movies in the trilogy. It’s not entirely clear what that means, but she discusses how the strange connection between her and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren/Ben Solo will be explored further in the film. While it seemed like it might have been fully mined after The Last Jedi, Ridley assures the viewer that they’ve “mined it some more.”

Director J.J. Abrams discusses the difficulties of making the film, and how his wife Katie McGrath encouraged him to take the job because his nervousness about returning meant that he would do a good job. “The job of this one is to bring to a close three trilogies,” he says. “It’s an end to nine movies.” He also believes that the film needs to stand on its own, though, even if you haven’t seen the first eight. He says that this film is “a little less safe” than The Force Awakens was.

Oscar Issac, who plays Poe Dameron, says that his character has “a bit more to do” in this film than in previous entries. He also says that this one is about a “trio” of characters (Rey, Finn, and Poe,) much as the original trilogy was about Luke, Leia, and Han. This is an interesting comment, as Poe and Rey did not meet until the very end of The Last Jedi. He also talks about how we’ll find out more about where Poe came from in this film. “We get to find out that Poe’s got a bit of a past that he’s also been running from,” he says. Keri Russell’s character, Zorii Bliss, is a figure from Poe’s past, and Russell describes her character as “shady.” Issac adds: “The last time they saw each other, things may not have been left on the best of terms.”

John Boyega briefly touches on what’s different about Finn in this entry, saying that he’s a more mature character now, and he’s finally worked out what his place in everything is. Boyega says that he was worried that there would not be room in the film to show Finn’s development, but that this was not the case. “Finn is now a fully-fledged, 100% committed resistance fighter,” he says, “and has no fear whatsoever.”

Anthony Daniels, who has played C-3PO since the original 1977 movie, says that “so many of the cast get to do things they’ve never done before,” and talks about his character’s extended part. “C-3PO has been kind of absent for the last two movies, scenery on the mantlepiece…he’s back.” He says that he was not given the script until 2-3 days before filming, and that people kept telling him that he had a great role this time around. He describes the script as “magical” this time around, while also suggesting that it might be the final time he gets to play the character on screen, as he suspects that “the story closes here.”

Elsewhere in the video, new Chewbacca Joonas Suotamo discusses how the late Peter Mayhew came up to him after the release of Solo to tell him that he’d done a good job, and that the character was in safe hands now. Billy Dee Williams is emphatic about what a pleasure it was to work with J.J. Abrams–the whole cast has good things to say about him, but Williams calls working with him “one of the most extraordinary moments of my career.”

The video ends with an exclusive interview with R2D2, which, yes, is just a series of beeps and boops.

The first clip from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was recently released, and is worth checking out. The final movie will run for 141 minutes.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare — See Footage Of The New Crash Map

One of the most iconic maps from 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Crash, is being remade for the new Modern Warfare. Crash is coming to the new game in the Season One update on December 3, and now new gameplay footage from it has emerged online.

YouTuber Attach posted a video of the new map–and it looks pretty much exactly like it did back in 2007 except with better-looking graphics and one relatively small change to the map itself. There is a new back alley section of the map, but that appears to be the only notable addition.

Curiously, Attach said he was informed by Infinity Ward developers that he wasn’t allowed to use the attack chopper killstreak because it could cause the map to glitch. Here’s to hoping that has been sorted out for the public release this week.

Crash is just one of the maps coming to Modern Warfare in the Season One update. Some of the others include Vacant and Shipment, which were also fan-favorites in the original game. The Season One update also includes new modes, weapon blueprints, and more.

In addition to the Season One update, December 3 marks the start of Modern Warfare’s first Battle Pass. Just like with Fortnite, players will progress through tiers–of which there are 100–earning new cosmetic items and more on the way. Check out a breakdown of the Modern Warfare Battle Pass to learn more.
