Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 Adds Boba Fett – Report

The second season of the Disney+ Star Wars TV show The Mandalorian has already been filmed, but thus far not a lot is known about what to expect. There have been reports that Rosario Dawson was cast to play a live-action Ahsoka Tano, and there will surely be plenty more Baby Yoda. Other than that, though, we have learned a little casting news and some of the episode directors, but not much about the plot.

A new report, though, suggests that a major Star Wars character will play a role in the season when it debuts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones actor Temuera Morrison will appear on the show. In that film, Morrison played Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett. Now, based on THR’s report, he will play the iconic role of Boba Fett–who was revealed to be a clone of Jango in the prequels.

While it’s not believed that Boba Fett will play a big role in Season 2, there’s no telling if he will end up being a recurring character as the show moves into Season 3, which is reportedly in the works.

In the original movies, Boba Fett was played by Jeremy Bulloch, with Jason Wingreen supplying the character’s voice. It’s worth noting that in the special edition of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Morrison’s voice was dubbed over Wingreen’s.

The second season of The Mandalorian is set to arrive to the Disney+ streaming service in October. It’s one of many Star Wars projects in the works, including a new movie from Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and a TV show from the creator of Russian Doll.

How to Watch UFC 249: Ferguson vs Gaethje This Weekend

Sports are pretty much over for the year, with most leagues postponing or outright canceling their entire seasons. However, there is a bright light in the sports-darkness, with UFC 249 Ferguson vs Gaethje streaming live Saturday, May 9 at 10 PM ET on ESPN+.

If you’re already an ESPN+ subscriber, you can get the PPV for $64.99. If you’re not already an ESPN+ subscriber, the good news is it’s cheap: just $4.99 a month. You can also bundle it with Disney+ and Hulu, too.

You could always sign up for a free trial, buy the PPV, and then cancel when your trial is up, but I recommend keeping it because it’s actually a really great service if you’re into sports at all.

I’ve talked before about ESPN+ and how it has tons of classic sports. I really like watching old boxing matches from legends like Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali, but they have boxing going as far back as Jack Dempsey. Those Dempsey fights don’t even have sound. It’s awesome.

If you’re a UFC fan interested in the PPV, there’s a massive amount of UFC content, like old fights and highlights, as well as shows, about the world of professional mixed-martial arts. It’s a great service for sports fans, especially now that all sports are basically done with until 20XX or so.

The Mandalorian Season 2 Casts Boba Fett

Star Wars universe alum Temuera Morrison (Aquaman, Moana) will reportedly portray iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett in the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian on Disney+.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Morrison’s Boba Fett “is expected to play just a small role in season two of the series.” The New Zealand-born actor joined Star Wars back in 2002’s Attack of the Clones where he portrayed Jango Fett. In Attack of the Clones, it was revealed that Boba is actually one of Jango’s clones, who he decided to raise as his own son.

Morrison will join Season 2 newcomers Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) as Ahsoka Tano, and Terminator star Michael Biehn as an unnamed bounty hunter. Behind the camera, Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn) and Peyton Reed (Marvel’s Ant-Man) have both confirmed that they will be directing episodes of Season 2.

Latest Xbox One Free Play Weekend Features Dragon Ball FighterZ And More

Microsoft has revealed the next set of Xbox One games available to play during its Free Play Days this weekend. From now through Sunday, you can get your hands on Dragon Ball FighterZ, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and Saints Row IV: Re-Elected–all of which are also conveniently on sale through the weekend.

Dragon Ball FighterZ, which originally launched in 2018, is in the midst of its third season. The new series of content adds a bunch of new DLC characters–including the female fusion Kefla and yet another version of Goku–introduces the new Z Assist Select mechanic, and more. Developed by Arc System Works, the studio responsible for other flashy fighters like Granblue Fantasy: Versus and Guilty Gear Strive, DBFZ will appear during this year’s Evolution Championship Series. The annual fighting game tournament has been affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic but will continue as an online event.

Perhaps the second-most-popular battle royale on the market, PUBG came out swinging in 2017. Since then, the game has seen a variety of patches, tweaks, and adjustments, with one update in particular introducing bots for console players. Developer PUBG Corporation has unveiled its plans for the future of the battle royale title, which includes parity between all platforms. The game recently launched on Google’s cloud gaming platform Stadia with some exclusive content.

The oldest game on the list, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected is the definitive edition of the game that packages all of its downloadable content into one bundle–with the exception of the standalone Gat out of Hell DLC. The game recently hit Nintendo Switch and comes with 25 additional enhancements, including the Dubstep Gun (Remix) package and more. In November 2019, Koch Media, the parent company of developer Volition, said a new Saints Row game will be revealed sometime this year.

Of course, with all three games being part of Xbox’s Free Play Days weekend, they are all on sale for 75-80 percent off for the next few days. You can check out the list below to see the deals.

Russo on Hercules Remake: ‘We’re Going to Give You a Different Story’

Fans shouldn’t expect Disney’s planned live-action remake of their animated hit Hercules to be “a literal translation,” according to the film’s producer Anthony Russo.

Chatting with Collider, Russo explained that he and his fellow producer and brother Joe Russo will adopt the same approach to adapting Disney’s Hercules as they did with their Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

“I think you always have to bring something new to the table because from our perspective as storytellers, it’s not compelling for us to do a literal translation,” Russo said. “We’ve already done that with our Marvel films. We don’t do literal translations of the comics because we feel like if you want that story you can go read that story.”

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=every-upcoming-disney-live-action-remake&captions=true”]

Russo added that the live-action Hercules will introduce aspects to the story that weren’t in the 1997 film:

“We’re going to give you a different story. I think we’ll do something that’s in the vein of the original and inspired by it, but we also bring some new elements to the table.”

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/06/29/the-25-best-disney-animated-movies”]

This reimagined, live-action version of Disney’s Hercules is being scripted by Dave Callaham, who is also a screenwriter on Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

No word yet on when Hercules will go into production, whether it will be a musical like the original, or who will direct or star.

Zelda Breath of the Wild Shrines Guide: Locations, Map, and Treasures

Whether you’re a new Switch owner or a long-term player, it’s never too late to dive back into IGN’s 2017 GOTY, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The bestselling Zelda game of all time – and regularly cited as one of the greatest games ever made – Breath of the Wild is packed with enough content to keep even the most zealous Zelda fans busy for weeks.

One of the many things that kept us busy were Breath of the Wild’s 120 Shrines. IGN’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Shrine guide contains solutions to every Breath of the Wild Shrine puzzle, with detailed directions on how to collect every Shrine treasure. Each puzzle shrine in Breath of the Wild has at least one Treasure Chest and Spirit Orb, and securing four Spirit Orbs will allow you to expand your Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels by trading them at any Goddess Statue (located in the Temple of Time and all major towns).

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/12/09/the-10-most-frustrating-shrines-in-the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild”]

Breath of the Wild’s Shrines offer a variety of challenges. Some are small dungeons containing a central puzzle theme, while others feature monsters that test Link’s combat skills. These encounters can range from relatively easy to quite difficult.

You can also use IGN’s interactive Breath of the Wild Shrine map that details the location of every Shrine in Hyrule. The map features the ability to check off Shrines as you complete them, which should help cut down on any confusion.

Note that some Shrines aren’t always visible, and Link will need to undertake Shrine Quests to solve riddles to reveal their location. There are 42 Shrines in BOTW that cannot be accessed until their corresponding Shrine Quest is completed.

There are also some “free” shrines. These include the Shrines in the Lost Woods and the three labyrinths, plus some Shrine Quests. These Shrines contain no puzzles or monsters and the Treasure Chest and Spirit Orb are awarded simply for accessing the shrine.

You can discover all Breath of the Wild Shrine locations by region below!

Call Of Duty Mobile Outlines Season 6 Roadmap, Promises Future Roadmaps Earlier

Call of Duty Mobile recently launched its western-themed season update, Once Upon a Time in Rust. But the mobile game has a lot more planned for the coming months, as outlined in a broad-ranging content roadmap. That includes new seasonal challenges, a new event, and more.

The roadmap image gives a quick overview of all the content coming over the next several weeks. The left side is dedicated to general content drops that came alongside the season update, while the right side outlines other additions that will continue to drop throughout the rest of the season. Those include the Saloon multiplayer map, 1v1 Duel, and Tactical Grenade Cryo Bomb in mid-May. The Poltergeist class will then arrive in late May.

The studio also noted that these roadmaps will be made available before the launch of future seasons to give players a quick overview of what’s coming.

In the long-term, some sort of revised progression system is on the way to give more longevity to those who have already hit max level–though the blog doesn’t mention exactly what it will entail.

The Simpsons Predicted COVID-19 and Murder Hornets in 1993

Editor’s note: This is an update to a previous list, last published in May 2019.

Every now and again, something will happen in this world of ours that already happened in a different world. That would be the universe of The Simpsons, the iconic Fox sitcom that some consider the greatest television show of all time. On numerous occasions, we’ve shouted “The Simpsons did it!” to actual current events. The latest in a long line of creepy coincidences involves a classic Season 4 episode that somehow managed to predict the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of so-called “murder hornets” in one fell swoop.

After 31 seasons and well over 600 episodes, here are a few other times when The Simpsons predicted the future…

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=every-time-the-simpsons-predicted-the-future&captions=true”]

[poilib element=”accentDivider”]

1. The Coronavirus and Murder Hornets (Season 4, Episode 21)

When did it happen in real life? December 2019 – who knows?

Marge in Chains

We’re used to The Simpsons predicting the future at this point, but perhaps not with this much specificity. The series somehow managed to predict the events of 2020 way back in 1993. The episode “Marge in Chains” features Springfield’s residents panicking over a dangerous new Asian superflu dubbed Osaka Flu. When an angry mob confronts Dr. Hibbert for a cure, he tells them anything he could offer “would only be a placebo.” So, naturally, the mob starts rioting looking for the placebo, which results in a truck full of killer bees being overturned. Even writer Bill Oakley had to admit the show called that one.

Dangerous new diseases, hysterical mobs, and deadly, stinging insects? That’s 2020 in a nutshell.

2. The Ending of Game of Thrones (Season 29, Episode 1)

When did it happen in real life? May 12, 2019

simpsons-serfsons

The Simpsons kicked off its 29th season with “The Serfsons,” a fantasy-themed episode where Springfield is re-imagined as a medieval dystopia. Naturally, the episode took some potshots at Game of Thrones and even featured a cameo from Jaime Lannister himself, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. But we really didn’t expect it to wind up predicting the climax of that HBO series two years ahead of time. “The Serfsons” features a scene where Homer accidentally sets a dragon loose and it begins torching the entire town, basically foreshadowing the destruction of King’s Landing in the shocking and controversial GoT episode “The Bells.”

3. Two Eerie Football Predictions (Season 26, Episode 16)

When did it happen in real life? July 13, 2014 & December 3, 2015

XXX SIMPSONS-HOMER-REF-UNIFORM-4324-.JPG LIF ENT TEL

This 2014 episode managed to predict two completely separate world events, both connected to the glamorous world of football (no, not the American version). First, it accurately predicted Germany and Brazil would face off in the 2014 World Cup final. Maybe that’s small potatoes, considering both countries are famous for having great football teams. But even more impressive is that this episode managed to predict the 2015 FIFA corruption case, even going so far as to show the VP of the fictional “World Football Federation” being arrested by the feds.

4. Donald Trump Becomes President (Season 11, Episode 17)

When did it happen in real life? November 8, 2016

1

In the episode “Bart to the Future” we get a glimpse of a future wherein Lisa is President of the United States. And wouldn’t you know, there’s a joke about how Lisa’s tenure is being hampered by a budget crisis caused by President Trump. At the time, it seemed like a silly and ridiculous notion. We could all have a laugh at the idea of Donald Trump being President. Then… he was actually elected. Yeah.

5. Disney Buys Fox (Season 10, Episode 5)

When did it happen in real life? December 14, 2017

2

In “When You Dish Upon a Star” there’s a sign gag in the episode that features the 20th Century Fox logo with the words “A Division of Walt Disney Co.” slapped on it. Cut to 20 years later, and the Disney juggernaut has purchased Fox, which just so happens to be the company that produces The Simpsons. Here’s hoping that isn’t the only pop-culture prediction from this episode that comes true. We’d love to see Ron Howard direct a movie about a killer robot driving instructor whose best friend is a talking pie.

6. Siegfried & Roy’s Tiger Attack (Season 5, Episode 10)

When did this happen in real life? October 3, 2003

3

This one’s sad. In the world of The Simpsons, they have an analog to Siegfried & Roy called Gunter and Ernst. They’ve appeared infrequently, but one time Gunter was attacked by their white tiger, Anastasia. It was a harmless joke at the time, but a decade later fiction became reality when Roy Horn was attacked by Montecore, the tiger the real-life duo used in their act.

7. Homer Predicts the Mass of the Higgs Boson (Season 10, Episode 2)

When did this happen in real life? 2012

4

Homer Simpson is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He has, however, had brief moments of brilliance. For example, when he became an inventor he made an impressive scientific discovery 14 years before actual scientists managed to do it. According to Simon Singh, who wrote the book The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets, Homer’s prediction for the mass of the Higgs boson particle wasn’t that far off (775 giga-electron-volts compared to the actual 125 giga-electron-volts). Apparently that’s quite close. We’ll have to take Singh’s word for it.

8. The Simpsons Impacts the Design of the iPhone (Season 6, Episode 8)

When did it happen in real life? 2007 and beyond

5

Here’s a case of The Simpsons making a joke in the present that ended up resonating into the future. Dolph has an Apple Newton, an archaic PDA, that he tries to write “Beat up Martin” into. The Newton changes it to “Eat up Martha,” much to the chagrin of Springfield’s bullies. Apparently this moment was so impactful on Apple that it frequently referenced it when designing the keyboard for the iPhone. Of course, anybody who’s ever cursed autocorrect while texting knows that Apple did not quite achieve their goal.

9. A Real-Life Whacking Day (Season 4, Episode 20)

When did it happen in real life? 2013 and 2016

Whacking Day is a Springfield tradition where everybody drives snakes into the center of town to club them to death. Homer loves it, Lisa is against it, and in the end, it turns out that the whole thing started as an excuse to beat up the Irish. That wasn’t the case in Florida, one hopes. In 2013 and 2016, down in the Everglades, they sanctioned actual snake-whacking events in an attempt to curtail the presence of the Burmese python, an invasive species. They just called it the “Florida Python Challenge,” because they evidently lack the imagination of Springfield down in the Sunshine State.

10. Blinky the Three-Eyed Fish (Season 2, Episode 4)

When did it happen in real life? 2011

Blinky is one of the more-iconic images from the world of The Simpsons. The three-eyed fish was first found by Bart in the episode “Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish,” where it’s strongly intimated the fish was mutated by the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Life imitated art when a three-eyed fish was found in a reservoir in Argentina in 2011. Yes, the reservoir was being fed water from a nuclear power station. Unlike Blinky, the real three-eyed fish is not a cutesy cartoon, but a terrifying nightmare.

11. Milhouse Predicts a Nobel Prize Winner (Season 22, Episode 1)

It shouldn’t be surprising that Lisa, Milhouse, Martin, and Database had a Nobel Prize betting pool. This was in 2010, and Milhouse’s prediction for economics was Bengt R. Holmstrom. The whole storyline was just leading up to a gag about Krusty the Clown winning the Nobel Peace Prize, but there was a shrewd prediction slipped in. In 2016, Holmstrom did win the Nobel Prize in Economics alongside Oliver Hart. It may have been a few years late, but eventually, everything did indeed come up Milhouse.

12. A Lemon Tree Gets Stolen (Season 6, Episode 24)

The adjoining cities of Springfield and Shelbyville have a longstanding rivalry stemming from the latter’s desire to keep cousin marriage legal. This rivalry once led to some kids from Shelbyville stealing Springfield’s lemon tree. Perhaps inspired by this episode, some monster stole a lemon tree out of a woman’s yard in Houston. Seriously, they ripped it right out of the ground and took off with it. The woman told local reporters that the thief must have been stupid, because they didn’t realize it was too late in the season to replant the tree. Yeah, stupid like a fox.

13. The Simpsons Invent FaceTime (Season 6, Episode 19)

And finally, while Star Trek gets a lot of credit for predicting future technology, The Simpsons holds its own as well. For example, in “Lisa’s Wedding” Marge and daughter have a video conversation on their “picture phone.” It’s a technology that is strikingly similar to FaceTime.

Nor is this the only piece of 21st Century technology foreshadowed in “Lisa’s Wedding.” That episode also features characters wearing smartwatches, while the futuristic London skyline features a fictional skyscraper that looks an awful lot like The Shard (which didn’t even begin construction until 2009).

Of course, in that episode Lisa’s fiancé Hugh Parkfield mentions how Britain saved the United States in World War III. Here’s hoping that’s a prediction from that episode that doesn’t come to pass…

And there you have it, a bunch of times The Simpsons eerily got a future event right. What other times did The Simpsons see the future? Let’s discuss in the comments!
