League of Legends Drops New K/DA K-Pop Song, The Baddest

League of Legends virtual K-pop group K/DA has just released their newest song, The Baddest.

K/DA is comprised of League of Legends characters Ahri, Evelynn, Akali, and Kai’Sa. Soyeon and Miyeon of (G)I-dle return to voice Akali and Ahri, respectively, while Bea Miller and Wolftyla lend their voices to Evelynn and Kai’Sa. You can watch the full music video below.

K/DA made their augmented reality debut at 2018’s League of Legends World Championship with the song Pop/Stars. In that song, which has over 365 million views on YouTube, American artists Madison Beer and Jaira Burns voiced Evelynn and Kai’Sa, respectively.

The Baddest is a pre-release single, as K/DA will “return this year with a long-awaited EP – coming soon.”

The YouTube video of The Baddest features the lyrics to the song, and you can learn more about the people behind the virtual group known as K/DA.

“Artists featured in THE BADDEST and the rest of the songs on the upcoming EP will be collaborators, allowing K/DA to welcome a much larger roster of amazingly talented musicians to join them in their comeback,” Riot Games stated in a press release. “More details on the feature artist roster will be revealed on K/DA’s social media accounts in the near future.”

This would make it sound like these different artists may be voicing the members of K/DA, especially around the world. Additionally, the four members are wearing different outfits, but it is yet unknown if they will make their way to League of Legends.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is Releasing In PS5’s Launch Window

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was a showpiece game for the PlayStation 5 debut, with a dimension-hopping mechanic that accents how the SSD can be used to impact the game experience. We got a new look at the upcoming game during Gamescom Opening Night Live.

The gameplay demo was an extended version of the one featured during the PS5 reveal event earlier this year. Early on in the footage, Ratchet inadvertently shoots Dr. Nefarious’s Dimensionator, causing dimensional rifts to appear everywhere. We then see Ratchet using his new Rift Tether to grapple glowing yellow rifts and pull himself into them, reaching new platforms. You can watch the trailer below.

Following the demo, Gamescom ONL host Geoff Keighley spoke with Insomniac’s Mike Daly and Marcus Smith, who shed a bit more light on the upcoming game. According to Insomniac, the PS5’s horsepower allows the team to fill the game world with density and life. Players also won’t experience any load screens at all during the game.

In terms of story, Insomniac says Rift Apart is an “extension” of Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, although the game also serves as a standalone adventure, so you don’t need to have played any previous entries to enjoy it. That said, Insomniac teases that there will be returning characters and other nods to previous games that longtime fans will appreciate.

Just like the debut trailer, the Rift Apart gameplay demo ended with another look at a mysterious new female lombax. Insomniac didn’t share any further details about her, but the studio reconfirmed that she’ll be playable in the game. Rift Apart has also been used as an example of how developers are using the unique qualities of the PS5 DualSense controller. One weapon, the Enforcer, will deliver a bigger blast if you push past the resistance from the adaptive triggers.

Ratchet & Clank does not have a release date, but Insomniac confirmed that the game will arrive within PS5’s launch window. Sony hasn’t revealed a release date or price for the system, but that should be coming sometime soon. The company recently opened pre-registration for the next-gen console.

Destiny 2’s Beyond Light Gamescom Trailer: Stasis Subclasses In Action

While Destiny 2‘s Beyond Light expansion is going to shake up the game world–a bunch of removing some planetary destinations are being removed as new ones cycle in–arguably the biggest change is the new Stasis ability, which is going to make big alterations to the way you actually play the game. We got another big look at the Stasis powers and their related Supers during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live show, which give a sense of how you’ll freeze and shatter enemies.

The new trailer shown at Gamescom gave us a little more detail about the three new subclasses Stasis will bring to the game, and a look at some of the stuff you can do with them. Bungie added slightly more detail to its website as well. The powers you’ll wield include Stasis Field, Freeze, and Shatter, and it seems like each subclass will have some or all of those abilities. For Warlocks, there’s the Shadebinder, which we saw firing bolts of ice at enemies to deal damage, in line with the Shatter power. Hunters get the Revenant class, which seems geared toward Stasis Fields that slow enemies. Finally, there’s the Behemoth for Titans, which seems to be all about the Freeze ability, sending ice ripping through the ground to solidify enemies and then using Titans’ big melee hits to crush their icy forms. We also got the sense that you’ll use Stasis crystals to instantly create defensive structures like walls, which can help you close the gap on enemies to deal punishing blows.

The Stasis abilities are a big wrinkle in Beyond Light, and not just because they give you new options for killing your various foes around the solar system in exceedingly cool ways. Stasis is the power of the Darkness, the nebulous big bad enemies that Destiny Guardians have been worrying about since the original game’s first day. In the current season of Destiny 2, the Darkness has finally arrived, but it’s not attacking–it’s handing out gifts. Stasis seems to be one of those gifts, and its appearance should have a big impact on the story.

There are still a whole lot of Beyond Light details that Bungie is still holding back. According to the developer’s website, more info for each class is on its way: the Warlock Shadebinder class info will show up on September 1, the Titan Behemoth info is set for September 3, and details on the Hunter Revenant get released on September 8. There’s likely to be even more deep dives on Beyond Light over the next month ahead of the expansion’s release on November 10.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light Element Stasis Shown in Deeper Detail

During Opening Night Live at gamescom 2020, we got a closer look at a new element coming to Destiny 2 called Stasis.

Announced alongside the Beyond Light expansion coming in Fall 2020, Stasis will bring Guardians a new type of weapon burn and abilities based around time manipulation. Each Guardian subclass wields Stasis in a different way, using abilities that range from slowing enemies down to shattering them with destructive force.

The trailer showed each class’ new Stasis abilties, which involve freezing enemies, creating obstacles, and more. The Warlock Shadebinder will “fracture with frost”, the Hunter Revenant will “bring the storm”, and the Titan Behemoth will “crash like an avalanche”.

As far as the story goes, the Beyond Light expansion will take Guardians to Europa alongside the Exo Stranger, The Drifter, and Eris Morn in a fight against the Darkness. Players will encounter a new Fallen enemy called Eramis, also known as “The Fallen Kell of Darkness”. Players will be fighting against a Fallen faction under Eramis’ rule and it will involve “wielding the Darkness itself” as well as a new raid in the Deep Stone Crypt.

The Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion has a release date of November 10 and will launch on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. If you’re planning on diving in, make sure to take a look at everything leaving Destiny 2 in November when Beyond Light arrives and check out our gamescom 2020 schedule to see what else we have planned for the show.

Disney’s Raya And The Last Dragon Adds Star Wars’ Kelly Marie Tran

Raya and the Last Dragon, an upcoming computer-animated Disney movie slated for 2021, is shaking up some of its previously announced casting choices. Replacing Cassie Steele (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Rick and Morty), according to Deadline, will be Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) in the titular role. Tran’s casting is historic: It marks the first time a Southeast Asian performer has led a Disney animated film.

Joining Tran are Don Hall (Moana, Big Hero 6) and Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting) as directors on Raya and the Last Dragon–playwright Qui Nguyen (Vietgone) will join Adele Lim as co-writer. Paul Briggs and John Ripa will co-direct; Dean Wellins, who was originally slated as director alongside Briggs, will reportedly be directing another Disney animated movie.

“As filmmakers, Don and Carlos bring a combination of animation know-how and emotional storytelling to Raya and the Last Dragon, bringing our fantasy adventure to surprising, original, and dynamic heights,” said Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee. “They both saw the potential for this film and had a strong vision for the story, especially for our lead character, played by the wonderfully talented Kelly Marie Tran. And no small feat, directors Don and Carlos, writers Qui and Adele, and the entire crew of 400 Disney Animation artists are making this film together, while separated and working from home.”

Raya and the Last Dragon is currently scheduled for a March 12, 2021 release. It was originally set to premiere in November of this year, but–coronavirus. The movie was first announced at Disney’s D23 convention in 2018, and is set in “a reimagined Earth inhabited by an ancient civilization that venerated the mythical dragons for their power and their wisdom.”

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond Story Trailer Revealed

During Opening Night Live at gamescom 2020, Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella and Peter Hirschmann joined Geoff Keighley to reveal a Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond story trailer.

The VR game has been made with the help of real WW2 veterans, and the trailer showed the French Resistance, secret passages, a Gestapo HQ incursion, and lots of shooting, stabbing and exploding of Nazis. For a game about the realities of war, it looks… pretty fun.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/27/medal-of-honor-above-and-beyond-vr-story-trailer”]

In an interview after the trailer, it was confirmed that the game’s three acts will take the form of being recruited into the OSS, before working with the French Resistance, then taking part in D-Day, and finally dealing with the Nazi secret weapon programme.

Developed by Respawn and Oculus Studios, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is a VR game set during World War 2 with a single-player campaign that will put players into the shoes of an agent of the OSS as they survive through historic events. Check out our hands-on impressions for more details.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will have a release date in Holiday 2020 and will launch for the Oculus Rift. Make sure to check out our gamescom 2020 schedule to see what other gameplay reveals are planned for the show.

Medal Of Honor: Above And Beyond Shows VR WW2 At Gamescom

During Gamescom Opening Night Live, we got a lengthy look at Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. The Oculus Rift game takes place entirely in first-person and without cutscenes, so you’ll be right in the thick of the action. You can watch the presentation below.

According to game director Peter Hirchsman, you play as soldier in the OSS, the organization that eventually became the CIA. Though you’re working with the French resistance and taking on some spycraft, the trailer also showed plenty of big bombastic action scenes too–from almost being run over by a tank in the French countryside to storming the beaches of Normandy. Hirchsman said it has roughly 120 pages of narrative.

The developer chat ended with a hint of multiplayer, though specific plans weren’t shown. Meanwhile, the trailer ended with a display of Oculus Quest, though the studio has previously said that it’s a Rift-exclusive. That appears to have been an allusion to the ability to play on Quest through an Oculus Link.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is coming this holiday season.
