Fall Guys Season 2 Adds Medieval Minigames And Costumes

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout‘s Season 2 of content is on the way. Developer Mediatonic revealed new medieval-themed minigames and costumes during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2020. A giant castle for tail tag and a new block-pushing game where you have to climb over castle walls were revealed, as well as new dragon, knight, Viking, wizard, and witch costumes.

Season 2 won’t start for over a month, but when it does, it will have more games and costumes inspired by “epic quests.” Despite being hyped beforehand, the Fall Guys segment during Opening Night Live was quick, only showing off new content during a short clip. Many of the same games are returning, albeit with new maps and obstacles. Those include swinging axes and games where you have to physically move ramps and platforms around in order to, say, jump through a floating ring that’s otherwise out of reach.

Fall Guys lead designer Joe Walsh started out his Gamescom appearance by thanking fans for the game’s runaway success. He had previously promised that a lot of new content was in the works for the game, so expect more beyond the second season. We also know that, in China, a mobile version of Fall Guys is in the works–meanwhile, we’re hopeful that the game will come to other platforms around the world.

It’s likely that Fall Guys will retire or repurpose some games in the future. The game has already received some major tweaks during Season 1.

Shiny Space Shooter Chorus Gets Its First Gameplay Trailer

Chorus was previously revealed earlier this year for current and next generation consoles, and today we got a small glimpse at its fast-paced space dogfighting gameplay.

The short gameplay trailer shows how you can quickly zip around larger space installations in a very nimble-looking ship, taking down enemies in a flurry of gunfire as you go.

Chorus doesn’t have a release date yet, but will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, PC, and Google Stadia sometime in 2021. Catch up on all the other big Opening Night Live announcements right here.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Gets More Story Details At Gamescom

After months of teasers, Activision finally lifted the veil on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Now that the game has been formally revealed, we got another look during Gamescom Opening Night Live; this time, the presentation focused mostly on the story.

Gamescom Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley interviewed Raven Software creative director Dan Vondrak, who gave more context to the game’s story before showing off a new trailer. The brief story trailer went over some history of major world events like the Vietnam War with real-life footage. That transitioned into a story cutscene, a longer cut of the White House meeting seen in the debut trailer. It covered the Black Ops team discussing a mission to stop Project Perseus, including facetime with then-president Ronald Reagan.

Black Ops Cold War is a direct sequel to the first Black Ops, eschewing some of the prior sequels. As the name implies, it dramatizes the Cold War between Soviet Russia and the United States, as nuclear tension and covert action were the main points of engagement. It will have multiple endings, and the campaign is expected to be about the same length as other Call of Duty games.

The multiplayer, meanwhile, will encompass traditional classic multiplayer, Zombies, and the continuation of the free-to-play battle royale Warzone.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s release date is November 13 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X as well, but a release date for those versions has not been confirmed. You can pre-order the game now, and for more details check out everything we know.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Delayed to 2021

After months of silence, TT Games has unveiled more about its ambitious new LEGO adventure to a galaxy far, far away. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Shown off at Gamescom 2020‘s Opening Night Live, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s new trailer showcased some of the famous recreated scenes, gameplay, and humor to come. However, WB Games also confirmed the next LEGO Star Wars game has been delayed to spring 2021, while also confirming plans for PS5 and Xbox Series X versions.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/27/lego-star-wars-the-skywalker-saga-gameplay-trailer”]

Earlier this year, TT Games released new key art for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, teasing its franchise-spanning story, and we later learned that several real-world LEGO sets will include codes to unlock content in-game. A LEGO Star Wars release date was seemingly announced on the weekly Star Wars Show, but the episode was later re-edited to remove the release date announcement.

Unveiled at E3 last year, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga isn’t a remake of past LEGO Star Wars games but rather a new entry that looks to shake up the LEGO game formula in some major ways.

Resident Evil Live-Action Series Confirmed By Netflix

After more than a year of speculation about the possibility of Netflix developing a Resident Evil series, the streaming giant has finally confirmed that a live-action adaptation of Capcom’s legendary survival-horror franchise is in the works.

According to Netflix, Resident Evil will tell a brand new story across two timelines. Here’s how Netflix describes the Resident Evil show in a brief synopsis:

“In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father (editor’s note: Albert Wesker, we presume!) may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world. Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past – about her sister, her father, and herself – continue to haunt her.”

Netflix has also released an image of the first script via its NX Twitter account:

While no casting information has been announced, Netflix did reveal that the eight-episode first season of hour-long episodes will be brought to life by showrunner and writer Andrew Dabb (Supernatural), and director Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead), who will direct the first two episodes. Both Dabb and Hughes will serve as executive producers alongside Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben of Constantin Film, and Mary Leah Sutton.

“Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time,” Dabb explained. “I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.”

Watch The First Trailer For Come Play, Which Is Just Babadook With iPads

The new horror movie Come Play has just released its first trailer. Due out on Halloween this year, the film is about a monster named Larry who manifests through smart devices like iPads. The trailer sets up the main premise’s broad strokes: An autistic young boy named Oliver (Azhy Robertson), desperate for a friend, seeks solace and refuge in his tablet and happens upon a haunted app with a mysterious creature inside. Check out the trailer in the tweet below.

Come Play also stars Gillian Jacobs (Community, The Good Wife) and John Gallagher, Jr. (Westworld, The Newsroom). The film is an expanded version of writer-director Jacob Chase’s 2017 five-minute short film, Larry, which has a similar plot. Chase, an emerging talent, earned “an exclusive directing mentorship under Zack Snyder on the set of Justice League” on the strength of his 2016 Super Bowl ad, Doritos Dogs.

Come Play, which is rated PG-13, is expected to be released into theaters on October 31.

Hitman 3 Will Offer Free Next-Gen Upgrades, But Only For Digital Copies

Hitman III is set to launch on January 20, supporting both current and next-generation consoles. But unlike the confusing upgrade situation other games have found themselves in, Hitman III is keeping things simple. That is, if you purchase its digital edition.

Hitman III will offer free next-gen upgrades for both PS5 and Xbox Series X. Players who purchase the PS4 digital edition will be able to redeem the PS5 version for free when they upgrade their console. On Xbox, Hitman III supports Smart Delivery, which means you’ll get the best version of the game for the console you’re playing it on. Presumably this means the upgrade extends to physical copies of Hitman III for Xbox, but developer IO Interactive doesn’t make clear if a physical version will be released.

Along with free next-gen upgrades, Hitman 3 will also feature two editions for pre-order. The first is as standard as you’re going to get, with only a Trinity Pack DLC bonus for those who pre-order. The Deluxe edition features additional in-game items, including the same Trinity Pack, downloadable soundtrack, additional outfits, and more. You can check out both DLC packs below.

Hitman 3’s approach to next-gen upgrades is refreshing given how confusing it has become in recent weeks. Remedy Entertainment’s Control won’t be getting any free next-gen upgrades unless you purchase its new, all-inclusive Ultimate Edition, while Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has an incredibly confusing number of permutations relating to which versions of the game are eligible to purchase an upgrade. It’s all a bit messy.

Hitman 3 will be the first entry in the series to include VR support too, initially exclusive to PlayStation VR. It will also be compatible with missions from the previous two games for those who own them. Hitman III will launch on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X, PS5, and the Epic Games Store.
