What is Amazon Prime Day?

Prime Day 2020 Image - 13 & 14 October 2020Prime Day is a massive shopping event put on by the online retailer Amazon, specifically curated for the use of Amazon Prime members. Prime is a premium membership system where users can get access to a wide range of benefits, such as next day delivery, Prime Video, and even several exclusive deals throughout the year, including every single deal that pops up during Prime Day. Prime Day usually situates itself in the Summer, normally July, but with everything that’s been going on in the world, it now finds itself firmly in October instead.

Prime Day starts at 00:01 AM on October 13 and ends at 23:59 on October 14, so you’ve got two full days of deals to race through when it finally launches. But, we’re here to help with everything Prime Day and will be covering all the new and exciting deals that we are expecting to pop up.

If you’re not already a member, now is the time to sign up and take full advantage of the event. A 30-day free trial won’t cost you a thing, and you’ll be getting access to all of the best electronic, gaming, and tech deals available during the two-day event for 2020. If you’re a seasoned Amazon shopper, then the 1-year membership offers the best long-term value. We have now entered into Day 2 of the Amazon Prime Day 2020 Sale. Deals will run from now until October 14 11:59pm PST. You can still score the lowest prices ever on popular items like the Amazon Echo Dot or Fire Tablet, Sony 4K OLED TVs, Nintendo Switch, PS4, or Xbox gift cards, hard drives and SSDs, Apple AirPods, Alienware gaming monitors, and much more. You can even score free money courtesy of Amazon. Even better, Amazon has stated that a brand new set of unseen deals will go up on Day 2. We’ll update this article as new deals come in and old deals expire, so keep checking back.

Our Amazon Prime Day Deals Top Picks

Here is our curated list of the 10 best Prime Day deals that are in stock right now.

Amazon Prime Day Headphone and Electronics Deals

No “sale of the year” is complete without lowest prices ever on Apple accessories. You won’t find a better price on these Apple AirPods and AirPods Pro truly wireless earbuds. For the sound aficionados, save big on the two best noise cancelling headphones out there: the ultra classic Bose QuietComfort 35 II or the highly-regarded Sony WH-1000XM4.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-electronics”]

Amazon Prime Day Video Game Deals

I’m actually surprised by the number of deals that are out there (Amazon Prime Day generally isn’t known for having a crazy amount of gaming deals). Get some of the best Nintendo Switch games at 33% off, earn 25% cashback on Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, or Xbox Store gift cards, or save on a Nintendo Switch Online or PlayStation Now subscription.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-switch”]

Amazon Prime Day Laptop and PC Deals

Amazon doesn’t have very many computers on sale for Prime Day so I’m throwing in some tantalizing Dell deals. Why you ask? The RTX 3080 is all the rage and unfortunately impossible to find. Dell has RTX 3080 equipped Alienware PCs at reasonable prices and they promise a reasonable delivery window.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=best-prime-day-gaming-laptops”]

Amazon Prime Day External Hard Drive and SSD Deals

These external hard drives add more space to your PC, PS4, or Xbox One. They’ll also be compatible with the next generation consoles like the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. With some games requiring a whopping 50GB-100GB of space, you’ll need the extra storage to fill out a decent digital library.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-external-storage”]

Amazon Prime Day Internal Hard Drives and SSD Deals

There are plenty of flavors of internal storage to suit your needs. Pick an SSD for speedy startup and near instant loading times. Or save some money and go with the traditional hard drive if storage space is what you’re after. APick a performance minded hard drive like the WD Black for running games or a reliable drive like the Seagate IronWolf for your NAS or backup needs.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-internal-storage”]

Amazon Prime Day MicroSDXC Memory Card Deals

You’ll need a Micro SDXC card to increase the storage space for your Nintendo Switch (which only has a paltry 32GB of onboard storage), GoPro, dashcams, security cameras, or most modern smartphones. If you need a larger SD card, you’re in luck. These cards all include a MicroSD to SD adapter.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-flash-storage”]

Amazon Prime Day Echo Deals

There is absolutely no better time of year than Amazon Prime Day to score an Amazon Echo device. These prices are usually even better than Black Friday. The Echo Dot, for example, can do a ridiculous amount of things for something that only costs $19. It’s probably going to be the smartest stocking stuffer you can get, so stock up (no pun intended).

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=best-prime-day-amazon-echo-deals”]

Amazon Prime Day Fire Tablet and Kindle Deals

The Fire Tablet and Kindle eReaders are perfect family devices. With the Kindle, you can tote around an entire library of books in a device that’s not much bigger than your phone. The Fire Tablet is so inexpensive that you won’t even mind letting your kids use it without constant supervision. That wouldn’t be possible with an iPad that costs 4X as much.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=amazon-master-list-prime-day-tablet-deals”]

Amazon Prime Day Gaming Monitor Deals

The only monitor deals that are worth looking at on Prime Day are the ones that are catered towards gamers. These monitors have features that make your gaming experience as buttery as possible. That includes a low response time, high refresh rate, GSYNC compatibility, wide viewing angles, and more.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-monitor”]

Amazon Prime Day Razer Deals

There are so many Razer deals on Amazon Prime Day that they deserve a category of their own. Razer makes some of the best and flashiest peripherals on the market and today you’ll be able to save on mice, headsets, keyboards, keypads, mouse pads, microphones, and even high-end Xbox controllers.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-razer”]

Amazon Prime Day Gaming Accessory Deals

Razer isn’t the only brand sending in the big guns for Prime Day. You can score some great deals from SteelSeries, Logitech, HyperX, and Corsair as well. These deals are more sporadic so we’ll add to this list as we see them. Be forewarned that they tend to sell out faster too.

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-peripherals”]

Amazon Prime Day Gaming Router Deals

If you need internet, there’s a good chance you’ll need a router. Wireless routers that use the 802.11ac 5GHz bandwidth have dropped in price significantly over the past year. Today, it’s very possible to score a solid wireless AC router for under $30. Of course you could pony up some more dollars and get balls to the wall speeds (just make sure you have an internet connection that can match up).

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-routers”]

Amazon Prime Subscription Deals

This might sound like a boring section but trust me, these are some of the absolute best deals you’ll find on Prime Day. Subscriptions cost money and they keep costing money. The Prime Day deals allow you to go multiple months paying a much lower cost (or in some cases without paying a dime).

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=master-article-amazon-prime-day-services”]

Amazon Prime Home and Kitchen Tech Deals

Games might be a big part of your life, but you also gotta take care of other things too, like your body, or your home. Amazon Prime Day is always a good time to stock up on other kinds of electrics, like a body trimmer for your unsightly navel hairs, a robot vacuum that will clean up your nail clippings with nary a complaint, and a blender that will pulverize the leftover contents in your fridge into something edible.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales Has Unique Abilities And Surprise Villains

One month out from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales‘ debut alongside the PlayStation 5, we’re learning some new details about the game’s technical capabilities and the story it’ll follow. The new information comes from a Game Informer cover story that has revealed both impressions on how the game plays on PS5 and some new details on the story.

While we’ve had some details on the game’s 60FPS Performance Mode, the Game Informer impressions reveal more about the higher-quality Fidelity Mode, which runs at 30FPS in 4K and will include ray tracing along with other visual enhancements. On PS5 the game runs without load screens even when fast travelling.

While the new game is set to showcase both Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ Spider-men, as revealed in past teasers, Miles doesn’t have to share the spotlight as the only playable character in the game. Miles also has his own unique set of animations that are a little sloppier than Peter’s, showing his learning curve as a new Spider-Man.

Other details revealed include the fact that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will include some surprise villains that haven’t yet been announced, with the game featuring even bigger set-pieces than its predecessor. Overall the sequel promises to be more than just a reskin of the 2018 game, with improvements on gameplay and whole new features such as the “Friendly Neighborhood Spider App” that uses the DualSense‘s touchpad.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch for PS4 and PS5 on November 15, with an Ultimate Edition that includes Spider-Man Remastered coming exclusively to the PS5. Check out everything you need to know about pre-orders for all editions of the game.

The new phones have a ceramic shield giving it the toughest glass of any smartphone, dual cameras with ultra-wide field of view in the top camera and Night Mode support for both the front and rear cameras, and Magsafe technology. Watch the video above for specific details for each model. In addition, Apple also announced that League of Legends: Wild Rift is coming to iPhone 12.

In Microsoft news, we now know how the Xbox Series X & S will enhance backwards-compatible games. Both of the new Xbox consoles will enhance older games with things like improved resolution, increased frame rates, and auto HDR.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War — How It’s Changing For The Cross-Play Beta Weekend

The first public beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ran this past weekend on PS4, and now developer Treyarch has outlined some of the changes in the pipeline for the next beta. The second beta is a much bigger one, as it’s coming to Xbox One and PC as well, and there will be cross-platform multiplayer support.

Weekend 2 players can expect a series of changes, including the team deathmatch score limit rising from 75 to 100 “for better match pacing,” as well as a change to the Duster Stock attachment that will slow down sliding speed.

The cooldown on the Spy Plane scorestreak has been increased to lessen the experience of having too many of them in the sky at the same time from different players.

There have also been some general changes to improve the experience, such as join-in-progress now preventing players from joining a match when it’s too close to ending.

A series of bugs have been fixed as well. Different scopes like the Snappoint, Diamondback, and Hawksmoor could block the player’s view while aiming down sights, but this has been fixed. The update also fixes an issue that could prevent players’ names from being visible in the pre-match lobby. You can see the full patch notes below.

Weekend 2 will also feature new maps, weapons, modes, playlists, Scorestreaks, Perks, Wildcards, and equipment, and Treyach will provide a rundown of these new additions soon.

No Caption Provided

Weekend 2 kicks off on October 15, which is when all PS4 players can get in, as well as Xbox One and PC players who have preordered the game digitally. On October 17, the beta opens to everyone, regardless of preorder status, and it runs until October 19.

The Weekend 2 beta will end at 10 AM PT on Monday, October 19.

Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Trailer Shows The Yiga Clan, Now With Voice Acting

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll often be beset by the Yiga Clan when you’re out and about in Hyrule. The banana-loving ninja clan, which you were forced to avoid during an annoying stealth section of the Switch launch game, are back for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, and it looks like we’ll find out more about them this time.

This new trailer showcases Link and company facing off against the Yiga Clan, who are following a mysterious leader. It looks like the Legend of Zelda series is getting another “pale hooded figure with a bejeweled forehead” enemy in Age of Calamity; some things never change.

You can watch the trailer below. It doesn’t show off any new combat, but it shows that members of the Yiga Clan will now speak with full voice-acting.

The map for Age of Calamity will be very close to the map for BOTW, and like that game there will be Koroks to hunt down. You’ll get a bonus weapon in this Switch exclusive if you’ve played the Zelda launch game, too.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity arrives on November 20. There’s retailer exclusives and amiibo to consider, too; check out GameSpot’s preorder guide.

WoW Shadowlands Pre-Patch Out Now In NA, Patch Notes Released

It’s a very big day for World of Warcraft. While the Shadowlands expansion has been delayed to a later date in 2020, the pre-patch that contains a number of significant updates and improvements is available right now in North America.

The European launch is next, with other regions presumably to follow thereafter.

This is a gigantic update that introduces the “majority” of the game system changes that will come in Shadowlands, including the first-ever level squish for the MMO. Players are now reduced to a maximum level of 50, in preparation for the new level cap of 60 when Shadowlands releases. The pre-patch also introduces the Exile’s Reach starting zone, new customization options for all races, and adjustments to item and stat levels.

Also new with the pre-patch is a limited-time event called Death Rising. As part of this, players must defend Azeroth from an “undead invasion” that takes over the continent. This event is only available until Shadowlands releases, and it offers special rewards.

In terms of the new customization options, Blizzard has “revitalized” the experience with a new UI and new options such as eye color, more skin tones, additional hair styles, and color options for your hair or fur.

There is also a “newcomer chat” channel for new players seeking help and advice getting started in the MMO. Players will be removed from this channel once they reach level 20. Experienced players who want to help newcomers can become a guide by visiting the Stormwind Embassy or Orgrimmar Embassy. Players seeking to become guides must have an account in good standing, be level 50, and have completed more than 3,000 quests, among other things.

For a full rundown of what’s in the pre-patch and to see the full patch notes–which are incredibly in-depth, detailed, and lengthy–head to the WoW website.

Shadowlands was recently delayed to give the team more time to polish the expansion. It’s still coming in 2020, but an official release date has not been announced yet.

Shadowlands is the eighth expansion for WoW since the game’s release in 2004.

The Weirdest And Wildest Amazon Prime Day 2020 Deals

During Amazon Prime Day 2020, there are plenty of sales you’ll want to partake in, from deals for Nintendo Switch to smart TVs and board games. However, while we tend to highlight some of the very best deals for Prime Day, it’s time to look at some of the most absurd things on sale.

Across Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and other retailers, there are plenty of discounted items you probably didn’t know existed until today or things on sale that should have been discontinued years ago. These are all items that will have you scratching your heads–right before you sincerely say to yourself, “I need this, right?”

BioShock Director’s Next Game, A Sci-Fi Immersive Shooter, Is In “Later Stages Of Production”

It’s been a while since we last heard anything from Ghost Story Games, the small team from BioShock’s Ken Levine. A year ago, we learned from a job ad that the game is an immersive sim with FPS and RPG elements. Now, in another job ad (this time for a senior producer), we’ve gotten a little more insight into the under-wraps project.

The studio, which is currently made up of fewer than 35 people, is still “working on a new immersive sci-fi game with RPG elements.” They note that details have not yet been announced, but the game is “in later stages of production.” The studio was first formed in 2017, so this first game has likely been in the works for some time now.

The job ad also gives some insight into how their studio operates. “We are known for having genuine open communication with a flat structure,” it says. “You’re welcome to join any meeting, walk up to (or Slack) anyone and have your voice heard. Team-based decision making is important to us, regardless of your position–every opinion counts and matters!”

The ad also suggests that watching Ken Levine’s 2014 GDC talk for some insight into what they’re trying to do with the game.

This isn’t a lot to go on, admittedly, but it sounds like the new game hasn’t drastically changed direction since we last heard about it–it’s still a sci-fi immersive sim with FPS and RPG elements.

Over at developer Cloud Chamber, there’s a new BioShock currently in the works. It’s likely still a few years away from release, though, and won’t involve Levine.
