After Apex Legends tweaked the cooldown on Pathfinder’s grapple as part of the Aftermarket Collection event update, players soon found that the character’s shoulder was getting “stuck” on the screen post-grapple, blocking a large section of the player’s field of view. Now, almost a week after the update that introduced the bug, Apex Legends has pushed a new patch to fix it.

Although the issue that made Pathfinder basically unplayable for some players is now fixed, fans still aren’t happy with Respawn. Replies to the original tweet chronicle ongoing issues with matchmaking spawned by the October update, which some have blamed on the introduction of cross-play between PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Origin. The devs have also had to disable the Sentinel Sniper Rifle in order to work on an exploit introduced in the latest patch.

While Respawn appear to be hard at work fixing bugs that have arisen from the sweeping new changes introduced in the October patch, fans are also unhappy about intentional changes that have been made to fan-favorite character Wraith to try and bring down her pick-rate. The patch removed the character’s iconic Naruto run, as the hunched-over posture made it much more difficult to target a running Wraith. The change was implemented to try and balance Wraith’s abilities without nerfing any of her Legend abilities.

Roblox announced today that it has confidentially submitted a statement with the SEC for a proposed public offering. The number of shares the company is set to offer hasn’t yet been announced.

With its free-to-play model aimed at younger gamers, Roblox has proven it has staying power after its inception all the way back in 2006. Earlier this year the company was valued at over $4 billion, with TechCrunch reporting that it has attracted over $335 million in venture capital funding.

Roblox targets both players and developers with its model, providing tools for developers to create small games or experiences that can be played within the larger Roblox ecosystem. With an in-game currency, Robux, that can be traded out for real-world money, Roblox also runs its own virtual economy.

“Roblox intends to commence the public offering following completion of the SEC review process,” the company’s announcement reads, though it adds the offering will be “subject to market and other conditions,” which could be a major caveat in a year as financially uncertain as 2020.

While 2020 has been a successful year for the gaming industry, with Roblox as one of the bigger games that has served as a virtual alternative for in-person social events, it has also turned up a handful of controversies for the company.

Earlier in the year a hacker gained access to Roblox user accounts by bribing a worker at the company, while July saw a widespread attack gain access to user accounts and edit them to display Trump propaganda ahead of the 2020 US elections.

FIFA is a big deal in the UK, and the launch of FIFA 21 has done big business in the UK–with some caveats. FIFA 21 is the biggest physical game launch in the UK this year, but sales are down compared to FIFA 20, and the Switch version has sold poorly.

Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that sales on FIFA 21’s boxed copies are down 42% on boxed sales of FIFA 20. There’s a few potential reasons for that–the looming next generation of systems (which will bring new versions of FIFA 21), the growth of the digital market, and the COVID-19 pandemic making players less likely to travel to a store to buy the game all factors in.

It’s unknown how well the game has sold digitally, but this is still a big launch, overtaking the launch sales of The Last of Us Part II and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (both of which are single console exclusives).

The Switch version, however, has bombed. The PS4 version of the game accounted for 62% of sales, while 36% of sales were on Xbox One, but just 2% of sales were for the Switch version.

Of course, there’s a good reason for the Switch version to have not sold–it’s a Legacy Edition, meaning it’s the exact same game as the last three FIFA titles on Switch, albeit with updated rosters. The Switch version does not have enough reviews for a rating on Metacritic yet, but the user rating is down to 0.1/10. Hopefully EA will consider releasing a more substantial update for the Switch version of FIFA 22.

Although the game will likely sell well on PS5 and Xbox Series X when those consoles launch too, it’s worth noting that you’ll get a free upgrade to the new versions if you buy the PS4 or Xbox One version.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Prime Day is a massive shopping event put on by the online retailer Amazon, specifically curated for the use of Amazon Prime members. Prime is a premium membership system where users can get access to a wide range of benefits, such as next day delivery, Prime Video, and even several exclusive deals throughout the year, including every single deal that pops up during Prime Day. Prime Day usually situates itself in the Summer, normally July, but with everything that’s been going on in the world, it now finds itself firmly in October instead.

Our Expectations for Xbox Deals on Prime Day

Sure, there will be plenty of tech up for grabs during the Prime Day saga over October 13-14 this year, with a few early deals on Amazon Echo devices already live and ready to order. But, if you’re looking to score some new deals on the latest video games, then Xbox might be able to serve you up a piping hot meal of old stuff.

We kid, but with the likes of the Xbox Series X and S right around the corner, even the best deal on an Xbox One X might fall on hard times considering how much of an appeal the next-gen tech has right now. Still, that doesn’t mean we’re going to see absolutely no Xbox deals during Prime Day. Right now, we can be almost certain that a few Xbox games, accessories, and maybe a few subscription deals like Game Pass will be getting a healthy Prime Day treatment, but no promises.

Will Xbox Consoles be on Sale During Prime Day?

If you’re referring to the Xbox Series X and S, no. The consoles are still in preorder, and super out of stock in most retailers right now. When it comes to the current-gen systems, then you might have a little more luck. As we’ve mentioned, older Xbox consoles might not be the most appealing to the serious gamer at the moment, but if you’re just looking to play Halo Infinite next year and aren’t too worried about super-fast load times or 4K graphics, then an Xbox One S will actually play the game.

The biggest appeal to this is if the older console drops in price significantly during the sale, or if they’re even in stock for this price drop to happen. This has got to be a huge drop as well for it to make any kind of a dent in the already affordable, and new, Xbox Series S. Sure, the 4K Blu-ray drive in the One S is also a factor to consider, but if that’s all your concerned about, then maybe buy a Blu-ray drive on Prime Day instead. In our view, if you’re actually looking for a super cheap way to play the latest Xbox games, with plenty of longevity, your efforts might be better placed just trying to preorder an Xbox Series S when you can.

Hope you didn’t get confused with all the different names, in case you did. Xbox One is current-gen, Xbox Series is next-gen. Amazon may very well discount a few Xbox One S bundles during Prime Day 2020, but whether there will be the best Xbox deal available, is up for debate for now.

What to Expect: Amazon Prime Day Xbox Game Deals

A great benefit to next-gen gaming is the appeal of backward-compatibility, so if you’re upgrading to a Series X this year, any Xbox One games you might buy on sale will still be in perfect working order with the new consoles. This leads us to a world of possibilities when it comes to Prime Day then. There are even a few Xbox games available and on sale already at Amazon, many of which will even be getting a free next-gen graphical upgrade such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Cyberpunk 2077.

What to Expect: Amazon Prime Day Xbox Controllers and Accessories Deals

Xbox fans, this could be where some of the meat is during Prime Day, so eat up (unless you’re vegan). It’s been a common theme of the past few years for a number of great Xbox accessories to see some discounts during Prime Day, and eventually Black Friday, sales. Whether this will be a new Xbox controller to add to your collection, or an advanced new headset to help with your online gaming marathons.

Remember any current-gen Xbox controllers will still work with the new consoles launching in November, so you should have no qualms about buying that extra gamepad if it gets an unbelievable discount. This also applies to any of the special edition Xbox One controllers that could see a small discount during the two-day sales.

When it comes to external storage capabilities, we’re also expecting to see a few hard drives go on sale that would be perfect for Xbox One. In case you hadn’t heard, the Xbox Series X and S will use its own licensed SSD storage expansion card from Seagate. It’s 1TB, costs $219.99, and is available to preorder right now. You can still use a regular hard drive with the consoles if you’re so inclined, but you won’t be taking advantage of any of the super-fast load times that are a big seller to those upgrading to next-gen tech.

But, if you are still looking to go down the affordable route, you can always just store all your games on the hard drive, and then transfer them across when you feel it is necessary. This normally takes around 15-20 minutes depending on the game and is a lot quicker when compared to download and install a game again. Yes, it’s all a bit confusing, but you can find more information about Xbox Series X and S storage here.
