Hitman 3 Dartmoor Guide: How To Find And Open The Secret Rooms

The second mission in Hitman 3 sends you to a huge English mansion that’s straight out of an Agatha Christie novel. That’s not an exaggeration; the enormous estate is also the setting of a murder mystery that’s playing out at the same time as your assassination mission to eliminate Alexa Carlisle.

There are many paths through the mansion to complete your objective and eliminate Alexa Carlisle. You can even find a way to solve the murder mystery in the mansion and use your findings to manipulate the situation. To do that, though, you’ll need to uncover some of the mansion’s secrets, including a series of hidden rooms that can allow you to get into and out of certain specific areas unseen.

Finding your way into those hidden rooms is essential to mastering Dartmoor and to completing the murder mystery. But some hidden rooms are easier to find than others. Here’s a quick rundown of how to get into all the hidden rooms in Dartmoor and what tools you’ll need to access them.

We’ve got lots more Hitman 3 coverage to help you through every aspect of the game–just check out our Hitman 3 guide hub for a full rundown. You might also want to read our Hitman 3 review.

Hitman 3 Dartmoor Secret Room Locations

Secret Books And Switches Behind Paintings

Most of the secret rooms are fairly obvious if you make use of Agent 47’s Instinct vision. You can note their locations on your map and track them down by interacting with objects that are highlighted in yellow, like books or paintings. You’ll find a hidden room in Zachary’s bedroom that you can access with a book on his shelf, and another in Rebecca’s bedroom that opens when you turn a painting. There’s also a switch to return to the secret room off Rebecca’s room from the lawyer’s small room–look for the switch on the bookcase.

How To Use Mysterious Switches

There are three mysterious switches hidden throughout Thornbridge Manor, and you'll need a specific item to use them.

In certain locations in Dartmoor, you’ll find small interactive objects set into the floor of the mansion. You’ll see these in Instinct vision, but you won’t be able to interact with them unless you have the right tool.

That tool is the English bulldog walking cane. The cane has no other real use (except smacking people in the head to pacify them), but if you take it to the floor switches, it can open up hidden doors to access secret rooms.

You’ll find the cane in the bedroom of Emma and Gregory Carlisle. Be careful using it, though–if you drop it or pick it up in the view of other characters, they’ll become suspicious. Holding it is okay, though, for some reason. You can find the switches on the second floor of the library, and on the third floor, in the hallway outside of Alexa Carlisle’s Office. You can also access the small office from the hallway using a switch.
