Fortnite: How To Bathe In The Purple Pool At Steamy Stacks

Fortnite’s Season 5, Week 13 challenges are available now, and they are much less frustrating than last week’s. However, there are still a few of them that can give you some headaches. One of these challenges tasks you to bathe in the purple pool at Steamy Stacks, but this can be confusing based on where you’d expect to need to go. We’ll show you how to do it in this guide.

Of course, start your Fortnite battle royale match by gliding toward Steamy Stacks itself, which is located in the northeastern corner of the map, but don’t go to the titular stacks. They do have purple liquid underneath them, but you’ll get shot up into the air before you can take a dip.

Instead, head to the western part of the area and look for a big building with industrial-grade doors inside. Go through a few of these and you’ll end up in a room with a purple pool. Jump in and you’ll complete the challenge. For us, it took a few seconds to pop up, but it did register after we swam around a bit.

And that’s all there is to it! It’s just one of several challenges available for Season 5, Week 13, and you’ll get an easy 20,000 XP for completing it.

Kingdom Hearts Union X Dark Road Is Shutting Down, But Will Be Made Available Offline

Square Enix has revealed that it is shutting down its mobile title Kingdom Hearts Union X Dark Road, but an offline version will be made available, so players can still enjoy the story.

You can read the End of Service Announcement on the Union X Dark Road website. The game’s story will conclude in April, and the servers will shut down on May 30, 2021. As of February 24, players will no longer be able to purchase the in-game currency Jewels, though any that have been purchased prior will be available to use up until the end of service.

It’s not going away forever though, as an offline version of the game will also launch on May 30, and this will then be updated to include the Dark Road content later in September 2021. “KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ Dark Road will be playable offline and KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ will be available as a theater mode,” the announcement reads. Players can also transfer their data to the offline version to continue their progress.

In a tweet from the Union Cross Twitter account, Series Director Tetsuya Nomura thanked fans “for taking the journey with us for over 5 years,” and said that they will be able to enjoy the story at their own pace in the offline mode. “The excitement and intensity of the remaining chapters is really going to ramp up, and I think you’ll all enjoy what we have planned,” his statement reads.

In other Kingdom Hearts news, the series is coming to PC in March.

Razer Naga X Gaming Mouse Review

The Razer Naga is finally tightening its belt. The new Razer Naga X officially brings the MMO mouse into lightweight territory, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has been following gaming mice over the last year. It’s been a rat race to trim every spare gram, making gaming mice lighter than ever. The Naga X comes in at only 85 grams, more than 30 less than the Naga Pro. The changes don’t stop there, but at $79.99 does it do enough to warrant an upgrade if you already own a Naga?

Razer Naga X – Design and Features

The Razer Naga is an iconic mouse for MMO players. It’s been a popular choice across MMORPG and MOBA communities since its original release more than a decade ago. In all that time, the core design hasn’t changed much. Today’s Naga X has more in common with the 2009 Naga than it has different, at least externally, and that’s been the case for the majority of Naga refreshes over the last decade. If it’s not broke, why fix it?

That isn’t to say there haven’t been changes and upgrades throughout that time. The trendsetting 12-button thumb grid was pared down to a circle with 2012’s Naga Hex. In 2017, Naga Trinity introduced swappable side-panels, a design which was continued with the Naga Pro last year. We’ve seen wireless and wired versions, upgraded internals, and tweaked ergonomics. Razer even released a left-handed version last August, finally addressing an audience that’s gone unserved for far too long. But fundamentally, the Naga has been the “MMO mouse,” the online gamer’s right hand, with enough inputs to move entire skill bars off the keyboard and under his thumb.

With the Naga X, Razer is scaling the Naga back and trimming it down, bringing it up with the times while also simplifying it for a more accessible price point. It features the same design as the standard Naga (or Naga side-plate on the Pro and Trinity) with its 12-button side grid and large, easy-to-palm ergonomics. It features the same dimensions as the Pro and, from what I can see and feel, the exact same contouring. By appearances, they’re very similar mice, though the Pro features a second DPI button under the mouse wheel.

The biggest change is that the Naga X dramatically reduces the weight of the Pro, dropping from 117 grams to a mere 85 grams. It’s not quite an ultralight, but still feels surprisingly meager given its large size. At the same time, it’s solid shell is structurally solid, with no creaking even when I’m trying to make it happen. This slimming down is a welcome upgrade from the Pro which felt downright heavy in comparison to Razer’s other recent mice.

My daily driver is the Razer Viper Ultimate, which weighs in only 74 grams and made the Naga Pro feel like a brick in comparison. The Naga X finally provides an option for MMO players that want something in-line with the trends in gaming mice today and it’s good to see Razer offer something for this space.

The changes aren’t limited to weight, however, and the few I noticed first were downgrades. There are no swappable panels, for one, so shifting to a traditional 6-button setup is out of the question. Razer has also changed the finish to a more gritty matte plastic that feels more grainy under the fingers. The rubber grip on the right side of the Pro is now textured plastic and really doesn’t work well to support a mouse of this size, constantly causing my pinky to slip anytime I need to lift it up. That said, this is also a much cheaper mouse and concessions have to be made. Leaving the interchangeable side panels for the higher tier mouse is an acceptable trade-off, but making the Naga X more slippery is not.

Other changes are much better. The X now represents a middle-ground between 2017’s Naga Trinity and last year’s Naga Pro, featuring a new 18K DPI 5G Optical Sensor. It’s fast and accurate with a maximum speed of 450 IPS and 40G of total acceleration. Each of these is slightly less than the Pro, but other than the acceleration, all are a hefty improvement over the Trinity. Functionally, I can’t tell a difference between the two, so the scale-back doesn’t feel like a big loss. The switches are also downright excellent with a solid tactile click and 70 million click lifespan. They’re also Razer’s own in-house optical design, which means they’re theoretically faster (no debounce delay) but meaningfully less prone to failure over time since there are no mechanical contacts to degrade and cause the dreaded “double click of death.”

The Naga X is wired-only but honestly doesn’t feel like it. It comes with Razer’s Speedflex cable, which offers next to no resistance and is ultra-flexible. Pair this with the same brand of PTFE mouse feet found on Razer’s highest-end mice and you have the recipe for an MMO mouse that glides like a dream, even on a bare desk.

With a mouse like this, programming is more important than ever. Assigning skills, abilities, and macros is done through Razer Synapse, exactly as I described in my review of the Pro, as is lighting (minus the palm lighting zone which was removed). Razer makes setting up the Naga easy, including choosing popular shortcuts from a preset list. In my use, though, I found it best to stick to the standard number pad keymap with only small changes thrown in.

I have long been a proponent of MMO mice, even if you don’t play MMOs. That sounds counter-intuitive, but as someone who used only MMO mice before the last few years, believe me when I say that it’s hard to come back from the versatility they provide, especially for first-person shooters.

In the previous section, I mentioned that I found it best to stick to the standard numpad keymap. That’s because most PC games keep important commands on the number row, which allows them to automatically be mapped to the Naga X’s thumb grid. In many games, it also allows you to combine them with keyboard modifiers to double, triple, or even quadruple your keymaps. In World of Warcraft, for example, I was able to map my skill bar to 1-12 (-, =) and then three other ones all to the thumb grid by combining shift, ctrl, and alt with each of those numbers. That’s 48 keymaps, directly accessible under my thumb, all without giving up a key to HyperShift.

Playing World of Warcraft with the Naga X felt great. The light weight really does make a difference in how airy it feels to use. More importantly for MMOs, it allowed me to keep my hands on WASD and keep all of my attacks right under my thumb. As a mage, being able to run, drop an AOE on a crowd, Blink out of harm’s way and straight into a new rotation was freeing in a way that a normal mouse just can’t be.

The Naga X also gave me a profound advantage in competitive first-person shooters. The Naga X, like the Naga Pro before it, is the Scuf controller of gaming mice. Smartly mapping weapons and positions to the number pad makes them faster to access than even a normal keyboard because your thumb is already touching those buttons. In Call of Duty: Cold War, mapping prone to 5 allowed me to score more drop shots than I’ve ever been able to with a normal keyboard. In shooters, milliseconds matter and being able to quickly pop out a pistol or leap behind cover can literally make the difference between a win and a loss.

Shooters are also where the other upgrades come into play. The improved sensor felt pixel perfect. I wasn’t able to get it to spin out or lose tracking no matter what I tried. Just as importantly, the improved weight and glide let the mouse fade away and become an extension of my arm. The only drawback was the slipperiness of the right side which forced me to give it an extra grip anytime I needed to lift the mouse.

Like all Nagas, there is a learning curve but Razer has done a good job of mitigating the time it takes to learn the position of each of its thumb buttons. Each row is uniquely angled to make it easy to identify without having to take your eyes off the game. The bottom row remains quite a stretch, however.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Contract Is Done After No Way Home, But He Wants To Come Back

This year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home is the final Spider-Man film in Tom Holland’s contract. He revealed this in a new interview with Collider, in which he also made it clear that he hopes to get a new deal and appear as the web-slinger in more movies down the road.

“[Spider-Man 3] would be my last one [under contract] so I’ve always said to them if they want me back I’ll be there in a heartbeat,” he said. “I’ve loved every minute of being a part of this amazing world. It’s changed my life for the better, I’m so lucky to be here. If they want me back I’ll be there, if they don’t I will walk off into the sunset a very, very happy person because it’s been an amazing journey.”

Fans may recall that Holland’s Spider-Man was briefly out of the MCU as Spider-Man rights-owner Sony had a fight with Marvel. The two companies eventually came to terms, and Holland said he believes there won’t be additional contractural drama in the future if there are more Spider-Man movies.

“The way I understand it is that agreement between the two studios has already happened,” he said of Sony and Marvel. “I don’t think that they’re going to run into the same troubles that they did … I think the two studios have worked that out, and I don’t think that that will be a problem in the future. That said, I’m just the actor and I was a part of a few phone calls during that process, but I think they love working with each other, I think they found a way in which it can be beneficial for both studios, and I’m just kind of like a kid in the middle of it, between two parents during an argument (laughs).”

Under the terms of the new deal, Disney/Marvel paid 25% to co-finance No Way Way Home to obtain a quarter of the equity stake. What this means is that Sony ends up the big winner, taking home 75% of the box office for No Way Home. The deal also mentioned that Spider-Man would appear in one further Disney/Marvel movie, but it remains to be seen what that would be.

No Way Home is believed to be the final entry in the new Spider-Man trilogy that kicked off in 2017. The future of the Spider-Man series is unknown at this point.

Pixar’s Luca Trailer Delivers Sunshine, Friendship, And Sea Monsters

The first trailer for the new Pixar movie Luca has been released. The film is an animated fantasy comedy set on the Italian Riviera, and it hits theaters on June 18.

The movie follows a young boy named Luca and his best friend Alberto, as they spend a glorious summer together, playing in the countryside and streets of a small seaside town. The only problem is that Luca and Alberto are actually sea monsters, who transform back into their “real” forms when they get wet, and it doesn’t look like the town people are very friendly towards strange aquatic creatures. It looks very funny, charming, and highly imaginative–check the trailer out below:

The voicecast for Luca has also been announced. The movie stars Jacob Tremblay (Room, The Predator) as Luca and Jack Dylan Grazer (Shazam, It) as Alberto, plus Maya Rudolph and Jim Gaffigan as Luca’s parents and Italian comedian Saverio Raimondo as the town’s bully.

Luca is directed by Enrico Casarosa. While this is Casarosa’s feature debut, he previously worked in the art department on the Pixar movies Coco, Up, and Ratatouille.

In an interview with Collider, Casarosa spoke about how the movie might be viewed by younger audiences after the events of the past year. “I think that the relationship between the boys is gonna bring back a lot of memories when people watch this and I’m hoping that when people watch this, they’ll be able to forget about COVID,” he said. “But I mean, hopefully when this comes out, COVID would slow down. But right now, I think especially a lot of kids are really missing their friends and this movie is all about friendship.”

In related news, Disney’s animated fantasy Raya and the Last Dragon will be released next month. The film will be a simultaneous release with theaters and Disney+ Premium Access, and it arrives on March 5.

Will There Be A Titanfall 3? EA Boss Says The Decision Is Up To Respawn

Fans of Respawn’s Titanfall series are eager for a third game, but it hasn’t been announced yet. EA Studios boss Laura Miele told IGN that the decision to make a third game or not will be decided upon by Respawn.

“Apex takes place in the Titanfall world and the Respawn team is incredibly proud of that legacy and brand,” she said. “That team will determine what the future holds for Apex and Titanfall. I don’t believe in directing or telling games teams what to create, it has to come from the player community, and the inspiration and motivation of developers.”

While Respawn will get to weigh in on if it wants to make a sequel, EA itself controls the money and will get to decide to fund it or not, it seems.

“There is a lot of creative autonomy within Electronic Arts but there are certain values and principles we have as a company that we just couldn’t allow to be compromised,” Miele said.

Also in the interview, Miele spoke about how EA has a renewed focus on listening to player feedback and including their opinions in the process of decision-making.

“In terms of our game development philosophy, our players are always our north star,” Miele said. “As I started this current role, I wanted to strip away some of the preconceived notions about what games we should be investing in and really start listening to players and incorporating their voice into our development process. Since then, we have announced a slate of games that players asked for: a new Skate, College Football, a Command & Conquer remaster, the Mass Effect Trilogy and we developed free content in Battlefront 2 for several years to turn the perception of that game completely around.”

In October 2019, EA executive Blake Jorgensen said Respawn was spending a lot of its time focusing on the microtransaction-rich Apex Legends and that fans should stay patient for Titanfall 3.

“We really want to keep the team hyper-focused on [Apex Legends] because we see there’s so much opportunity there, so I can’t give you a sense of if and when [Titanfall 3] will come, but it’s still a great brand and we certainly won’t forget about it down the road,” he said.

Sacha Baron Cohen Says Playing Borat Is “Too Dangerous,” So He Won’t Do It Again

As he has said before, Sacha Baron Cohen is finished with the Borat character. He told Entertainment Weekly that the 2020 sequel would be his last because filming the movies got “too dangerous” due to the stunts he was pulling and the risks he was taking.

“It got too dangerous,” he said. “There were a couple of times I had to put on a bulletproof vest to go and shoot a scene, and you don’t want to do that too many times in your life. I was pretty lucky to get out this time, so no, I’m not doing it again. I’m going to stay with the scripted stuff.”

Also in the interview, Baron Cohen spoke about the challenging nature of filming the Borat movies, which required him to fully immerse himself in the character while also keeping a section of his brain available to make notes for the production of the film.

“You can be physically assaulted. You can even be shot,” he said “I never broke character thought internally, and this is an old thing to talk about since I’ve never talked about it, is that mentally, while I’m still fully in character to the person that I’m with, I mentally taking notes of things that are useful for the movie. Like a good poker player, you can never reveal to your opponents that what they’ve said is significant or in any way shocking. Otherwise they’re not going to feel comfortable enough to reveal anything else.”

“There were two things going on. There’s the outward impression to the people around me and then there’s what is going on inside my brain.”

Back in January, Baron Cohen spoke about how he was “fairly traumatized” after filming the 2009 comedy Bruno and he thought he was done playing undercover characters. But he came back to make the Borat sequel because he believed that “democracy was in peril.” He wanted people to see the movie and decide to not vote for Trump.

“I brought Borat out because of Trump,” he said. “There was a purpose to this movie, and I don’t really see the purpose to doing it again. So yeah, he’s locked away in the cupboard.”

While Baron Cohen might not bring back Borat for a third movie, actress Maria Bakalova, who played Borat’s daughter Tutar in the sequel, has said she would be up for reprising her character.

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead: First Trailer and New Images Released

Netflix has released the first trailer and new images for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead.

The first trailer for the zombie heist movie offers fans a closer look at the corpse-filled chaos that will ensue in the post-apocalyptic picture, as a ragtag group of mercenaries team-up and take the ultimate gamble when they decide to venture into a Las Vegas quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted, raiding a casino for its vault full of cash.

The adrenaline-fuelled footage is loaded with quickfire shots of fiery explosions erupting among hordes of the shambling undead, including one flesh-eater who appears to have a penchant for Elvis.

The streamer unveiled three additional behind-the-scenes photos from the upcoming horror heist movie after plaguing our timelines with the poster earlier this week. The new snaps reveal shots of Snyder stood with Dave Bautista in a corpse-ridden location, as well as a stoic shot of Tig Notaro’s helicopter pilot, and another scene teaser showing an interaction between Bautista’s character, Scott Ward, and Matthias Schweighöfer’s character, Ludwig Dieter.

Army of the Dead is also getting a prequel movie and an anime series at Netflix, with Shay Hatten onboard to write the scripts for both. Schweighöfer is attached to helm and star in the international prequel movie, which is said to follow his Army of the Dead safe-cracking character, while the anime series, Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, will chronicle the origins of Bautista’s Scott Ward.

Biden Administration to Review Supply Chains Causing PS5, Xbox, Graphics Card Shortages

President Joe Biden’s administration has signed an executive order pledging to review the supply chain issues that have led to PS5, Xbox Series and graphics card shortages.

As reported by NBC News, President Biden is looking into the gaps in America’s supply chains amid the pandemic. The 100-day review will look into vulnerabilities and improvements in supply chains for pharmaceuticals, rare earth minerals, semiconductor chips and large-capacity batteries. It will focus on increasing production within the US, as well as strengthening ties with those exporting the products involved.

Biden made clear that this won’t be an immediate fix for shortages, but should help stop similar problems in the future. The semiconductor shortage has caused major issues for the video games industry in recent months, and has been brought up by many games industry figureheads, including most recently PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan.

In an interview with GQ published earlier this week, Ryan said that the semiconductor shortage was one of the main issues affecting PS5 production – with semiconductor chips in short supply, it’s tricky for automobile, phone, console and PC hardware manufacturers to operate at full capacity and get their products into the hands of consumers. AMD’s chips power both of the next-gen consoles and CEO Lisa Su raised similar concerns during the company’s Q4 2020 earnings call, forecasting chip shortages to last throughout the first half of 2021.

With this executive order, Biden’s administration is planning to assess and hopefully remedy these supply chain issues, with a focus on boosting domestic production in the US to mitigate these problems in the future. Beyond chip shortages, scalpers are also causing problems for consumers trying to pick up top-tier graphic cards and next-gen consoles. A potential console scalping ban is currently gaining momentum in the UK in light of recent market troubles.

Industry Insiders Explain Why Video Game Movies Are Getting Better And More Popular

Video game movies have long been seen as cursed, with adaptations usually turning out mediocre at best and terrible at worst. Yet something has shifted in the last few years, with films such as Detective Pikachu and Sonic The Hedgehog proving the formula can work, and studios snapping up adaptation deals at incredible rates. A feature by The Ringer has looked into the phenomenon, tapping a few industry experts to explain how and why the industry interest in games has grown so exponentially.

A few projects were singled out as turning points in the reputation of video game adaptations including Sonic The Hedgehog, the 2020 film which overcame a rough start to become one of the top performing video game movies ever.

Dmitri Johnson, who co-produced Sonic under his company dj2 Entertainment, was involved in the movie’s on-again-off-again production since 2012. He said that “everyone thought it was a joke,” during the early phases of production, but that attitudes changed following the film’s highly successful release. “Shortly after that, the incoming calls definitely increased from studios [and] networks saying, ‘Hey, whaddya got next?'”

“I think from the business side, that’s when that part clicked,” said Mike Goldberg, a partner at the talent agency that represents Johnson. He added that Sonic was “a huge win for the concept that movies can actually do well based off video game IP. It isn’t a curse, it’s all about what that partnership looks like and what that execution is.”

Simon Pulman, a lawyer who is frequently involved in licensing franchises for film, pointed the finger at Netflix’s successful adaptations as a reason for the industry interest. He pointed to the Henry Cavill-led Witcher series as “something that really raised all tides” for video game adaptations.

As far as why some of the new movies have been working out where past video game adaptations failed, all three of the professionals interviewed pointed to an increased spirit of collaboration with the studios and creatives who make the game.

“In the past, when a studio would take a game IP, be it Super Mario Bros., or name an early adaptation, I think it was common practice to take the IP, ‘Thank you very much,’ and kind of shove the partner to the side,” Johnson said.

“There is a new generation of executives who play games and understand games,” Pulman said. “And therefore, they understand the value of the IP. They understand the value of the community and the gamers, and they’re respectful towards the source material. I don’t think I’ve done a game deal in the last three years where the game publisher or the game developer has not been involved in some capacity, and that has been a big change.”

There’s plenty of examples of this spirit of collaboration in upcoming productions, such as the HBO The Last of Us TV series which has brought Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann on as a writer and collaborator.

Of course this doesn’t mean that modern video game movies are all going to be bomb-proof–last year’s Monster Hunter movie failed to hit with audiences or critics, no matter whether they liked the games or not. The Warcraft movie of a few years ago was another high-profile video game flop, but we can only hope that more adaptations of gaming’s most beloved franchises will see success on the level of Sonic, or Netflix’s Witcher.
