D&D: Dark Alliance Is Getting Couch Co-Op

The team working on D&D: Dark Alliance is planning to bring local co-op to the game as free post-launch DLC.

The feature, announced during a recent developer livestream/Q&A, has been among the most-requested items from players curious about the upcoming co-op action RPG, according to Tuque Games’ Creative Director, Jeff Hattem.

“We heard the community loud and clear,” he said. “Our number one priority will be supporting two-player split-screen couch co-op for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. We’re working to have this feature ready to coincide with the launch of our first free DLC this summer.”

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/03/16/dd-dark-alliance-hands-on-gameplay-impressions”]

The rest of the DLC update remains a mystery, but is scheduled to launch sometime this summer after Dark Alliance’s June 22 release. The team also recently released a trailer hinting that actor Joe Manginello (Justice League, Magic Mike – also a huge D&D fan) voices a character in Dark Alliance.

Dark Alliance is apparently just one of “several” D&D video games currently in development, including a third-person open-world RPG (that isn’t Baldur’s Gate 3). There’s A Resident Evil Village Third-Person Mod, But It’s Not Without Flaws

Resident Evil Village has a new third-person mod which puts the game in a whole new light. Unfortunately, sometimes that light isn’t the best.

Capcom’s latest entry in the long-running survival horror series is in first-person, just like its predecessor Resident Evil 7. But for years, Resident Evil was played exclusively in third-person. Perhaps it’s not surprising then that some fans are curious what Resident Evil Village would play like with the series’ more traditional over-the-shoulder camera angle, and the results are equally impressive and hilarious.

Created by FluffyQuack, the PC mod allows players to swap between first and third-person. FluffyQuack advises the game to be played at 60fps, as “overriding the camera’s position” doesn’t work well at higher framerates. The mod is certainly functional and well worth checking out, allowing players to get a good look at Resident Evil Village’s protagonist Ethan Winters.

But even FluffyQuack admits the mod has its downsides, calling it “rather janky” and listing issues such as the game’s camera clipping through walls, objects being more difficult to pick up in third-person, and many of the player character’s animations looking completely broken and silly, which makes sense considering the game wasn’t made with a third-person view in mind. FluffyQuack says any updates to the PC version of Resident Evil Village will break the mod, though they will do their best to update it should that happen.

Resident Evil Village has been a big success for Capcom, selling more than 4 million copies and breaking concurrent player records for the franchise on Steam. Modders thus far seem to be having a blast with the title, doing everything from turning Chris Redfield into a baby (and vice versa) to transforming the internet’s beloved Lady Dimitrescu into Thomas the Tank Engine.

Fortnite CB Radio Locations: How To Complete Foreshadowing Quest

The third Foreshadowing Quest is now live in Fortnite, and it focuses on CB radios. These special challenges have players interacting with new items of interest and unraveling the mystery of UFOs and aliens suddenly circling around the island (figuratively for now). In this latest challenge, Epic says to “use CB radio,” but this is a pretty vague directive, as are actually five CB radios you’ll need to use. Here’s where you can find CB radios in Fortnite to complete this Foreshadowing Quest and continue the extraterrestrial storyline.

Fortnite CB Radio Locations

Each CB radio will only be here for a limited time, so make sure you grab these before they disappear. Also keep in mind that while there are several CB radios to be found, you’ll complete the challenge after finding five of them, so there’s no need to overdo it and track them all down. Here’s where you can find five rather isolated CB radios quickly and quietly in both map and list form.

  • On the cliffs north of Stealthy Stronghold, situated beneath a small elevated building
  • Next to a telescope-housing shack on the hills east of Craggy Cliffs
  • On the northeastern shore of Steamy Stacks before you cross the water where Castaway Jonesy resides
  • On a small patch of land in the western region of Slurpy Swamp
  • Sitting outside Apres Ski southwest of Misty Meadows
Fortnite CB radio locations are scattered around the island's perimeter.
Fortnite CB radio locations are scattered around the island’s perimeter.

To use a CB radio, approach it and follow the interact prompt. You’ll hear some chatter about UFOs and the aliens which have been teased in an ongoing ARG. Once you’ve completed this challenge, make sure you’re caught up with the rest of the Foreshadowing Quests.

There should be five total challenges before Fortnite Season 7 arrives, and this CB radio challenge marks the third to arrive in the game after two debuted earlier this week. That leaves two more which we expect to go live on Tuesday, but whenever they do, we’ll have guides ready to walk you through this literally out-of-this-world questline.

AEW’s Cody Rhodes Isn’t On Starz’s Heels For A Very Good Reason

When it was announced Arrow alum Stephen Amell was trading in his superhero suit for a pair of tights on the pro wrestling drama Heels, coming to Starz later this year, many fans wondered how quickly AEW star Cody Rhodes would sign onto the project. After all, the two are friends and have worked together before. Don’t expect to see Cody in Season 1 of Heels, though–and for a very good reason.

“I actually don’t ever see me being on a show that’s about wrestling because that’s just too much wrestling,” he explained during an appearance on GameSpot’s professional wrestling podcast Wrestle Buddies to promote AEW Double or Nothing. “I don’t think I could live in a world where I was wrestling within wrestling. There’s too much wrestling in my life. So for me, as Heels goes, I would rather if I was ever on the show be a slimy promoter or a [drunk] fan in the front row or an anti-wrestling personality, things like that. I don’t think I’ll ever put on tights in a television format ever. It’s just too much wrestling for me.”

It also hits a little close to home for Rhodes. “I looked at the script for Heels two years ago–maybe three years ago now–and was terrified at how much I related to it,” he said. “Because here’s two brothers in Georgia and their dad was a wrestler. It just felt a lot like my life. And then it got revised and revised and it became its own thing that is vastly different from the Rhodes’ upbringing.”

That said, he’s rooting for the show–and was able to do so by communicating directly with those involved.

“I talked to the production a lot,” he said. “I talked to their showrunner. I talked with Stephen as often as I can. I consider Stephen an actual wrestler. No, I have no involvement other than I’m a supporter of it. CM Punk came by and visited the Nightmare Factory while he was here filming and that was really exciting because I think seeing Punk on that show excites a lot of people and it excites me. I mean, [it’s] CM Punk in a ring. I’ll take it wherever it is. And that’ll be really exciting to see [on] the show, but I’m just looking forward to it.”

So while Rhodes may not be suiting up and jumping in the ring for Heels, rest assured he’ll likely be parked at his TV to watch it weekly. What’s more, if the show ever needs someone to fill the role of a drunk fan, he’s ready for the call.

“I’ll be a drunk fan who knows a little too much about the business,” he joked. “So when you spill out on the floor, you secretly say, ‘Hey, you’re doing great, man. You’re doing good. Hey, we have your spots coming up here, buddy.'”

AEW Double or Nothing airs live on pay-per-view Sunday, May 30. Heels debuts on Starz later this year.

Ubisoft Insists Far Cry 6 Isn’t Making A Political Statement On Cuba

Following Far Cry 6’s gameplay reveal and October 7 release date confirmation, Ubisoft said it “doesn’t want to make a political statement” on the state of Cuba with the open-world shooter.

Narrative director Navid Khavari told TheGamer that Ubisoft is trying to balance serious storytelling and engaging action in Far Cry 6 without commenting on real-world events–even after speaking to actual guerrilla fighters who serve as the inspiration for the open-world shooter’s fantasy.

“The original inspiration was Guerrilla Warfare and what is that guerrilla fantasy, which is obviously tied to revolution,” Khavari said. “When you talk about guerrillas, you think of the guerrillas in the 1950s and 1960s, we actually went down there to speak to actual guerrilla fighters who fought back then, and we just really fell in love with their stories.”

Despite drawing inspiration from guerrilla tactics used throughout history and around the world, Khavari insisted Far Cry 6 isn’t commenting on Cuba. Khavari said Ubisoft fell in love with “the culture and people” from the ’50s and ’60s, using their stories for the game’s creation and design.

“But we also fell in love with the culture and people we met,” Khavari said. “When we came out of that, it wasn’t that we felt we had to do Cuba, we realized it’s a complicated island and our game doesn’t want to make a political statement about what’s happening in Cuba specifically. Beyond that, we’re drawing inspiration from guerilla movements around the world and throughout history. For us, it felt like doing the island of Yara would help us tell that story while being very open with our politics and inspiration.”

Cuba is going through quite the change, as the leader of the communist party that’s been in power since 1965, Fidel Castro’s brother Raúl Castro, recently retired from his post. Cuba remains a communist country, with the Castro name being succeeded by Miguel Díaz-Canel as of April 2021.

This isn’t new, as Ubisoft frequently parrots this sentiment around whenever its games release. Ubisoft said the same thing about both of its 2019 shooters, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and The Division 2, but suddenly embraced its political messaging with last year’s Watch Dogs: Legion.

Far Cry 6 is still political despite not specifically referencing the state of Cuba. Khavari told GameSpot when debuting the game last year that it will explore themes like fascism and revolution.

Far Cry 6 hit PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 7. We checked out an extended gameplay presentation that focused on Far Cry 6’s many weird weapons.

The New Sonic Game May Be Called Sonic Rangers

Sega’s Sonic Team has announced that it’s working new game for a 2022 release. That game formally doesn’t have a title right now – but trailer files and a hastily altered press release suggest that it could be called Sonic Rangers.

After yesterday’s Sonic Central stream revealed the mysterious new game, Twitter user PTKickass (below) dug into the metadata for the trailer, which appeared to reference the game as Sonic Rangers.

The Rangers name gained more credibility when Eurogamer pointed out that a press release for the Sonic Central stream also makes brief mention of a game called Sonic Rangers, which, of course was never addressed by name in the stream itself. IGN also received that release, which begins with a summary, reading: “Announcing new console experiences, Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Sonic Rangers, further details on Netflix’s Sonic Prime, mobile news, musical events and much more!”

Online versions of that release have since been updated to remove the reference to Sonic Rangers. Since that name began circling, rumours have spread saying that online leaks connect the Sonic Rangers name to an in-development Sonic open world game, but those details can’t be confirmed at time of writing.

Spider-Man: No Way Home – Emma Stone Rules Out a Return as Gwen Stacy

Emma Stone has said that she is not involved in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and will not reprise her role as Gwen Stacy from The Amazing Spider-Man movies.

Talking to MTV News about rumours that she would be part of a multiverse-style storyline, Stone said “I have heard those rumors. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything, but I’m not [involved].” She mouthed the words “I’m not,” before adding “I don’t know what you’re supposed to respond as an alumnus.”

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/02/25/spider-man-no-way-home-what-the-title-reveals-about-the-mcu-sequel”]

Rumours began back with the suggestion that Jamie Foxx would reprise his The Amazing Spider-Man 2 role of Electro in the next Tom Holland-fronted Spider-Man movie. This then spread to the suggestion that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone – that universe’s Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy – would also return. Andrew Garfield has said he was not contacted about reprising his role, but also said “Never say never”. Tom Holland, meanwhile, has denied that Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire would return as their respective Spider-Men.

It’s a different story for Alfred Molina, though; the actor has seemingly confirmed that Doc-Ock will return by talking openly in an interview about being involved in the movie.

Leaked Battlefield 6 Footage Isn’t the Reveal Trailer We’ll See Next Month

Bad news for those looking to get an early peek at the first trailer for the next Battlefield game. A leaked video doing the rounds on the internet has been confirmed to not be the trailer the company is planning to show next month – and was never meant to be seen by the public.

The video originally leaked on the Battlefield subreddit (and which should be watched with a serious epilepsy warning), showcases a semi-futuristic setting for the latest instalment. However, Eurogamer has confirmed that the footage is simply material produced for “internal use” at EA, and is not the debut trailer the company is planning to reveal next month.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/05/04/battlefield-6-setting-potentially-revealed-in-leaked-screenshots-ign-daily-fix”]

That’s not to say the video doesn’t offer some clues as to what the next game might be – showing off what seems to be a near-future setting. The leaked footage includes several scenes of aerial dogfights, soldiers clashing, and a futuristic looking rocket launch. Accompanying that are the usual massive explosions, and some insane weather effects. It’s definitely looking like a Battlefield game but, crucially, it might not look exactly like the Battlefield game we get later this year.

A couple of weeks ago, EA teased in a tweet that it would be officially revealing the next Battlefield game in June, with a reveal trailer and gameplay likely. Before that, EA announced that the next Battlefield would be released between October and December 2021.

The new Battlefield game has been subject to a number of leaks and rumours lately, but there’s not much longer to wait before we hear some definitive information on the game. E3 starts in just a couple of week, and IGN’s Summer of Gaming will be around to keep you up to date with all the latest reveals, announcements, and trailer drops.
