Rainbow Six Siege Developers Answer Burning Questions About Cheating, Ranked Play, And Much More

The Rainbow Six Siege developers at Ubisoft released a massive AMA for Y6S2 addressing players’ concerns. The blog post covers mouse and keyboard on consoles, cheaters, playlists, and much more.

Two big topics covered in the AMA were cheaters and people using the mouse and keyboard on consoles. The developers said that while they have team members dedicated to working on mouse and keyboard input for consoles, it is still an “R&D subject.” They said that the goal is to make sure that mouse and keyboard does not provide an unfair advantage on consoles, while still allowing it as an input option.

As for plans to deal with cheaters in the game, Ubisoft was unable to provide details around its anti-cheating security, as anything it shares could be used by cheat makers to bypass the security. The developers did provide some more information around other exploits and if something is a bannable offense or not, like how using a glitch or exploit doesn’t result in a ban, since it brings the issue to their attention.

The Rainbow Six Siege team did say that it si aiming to add more restrictions to the Ranked playlist, limiting access for accounts that are high enough level but haven’t played the game in a while or did not play enough public PvP matches prior to playing ranked. Ubisoft also said that while the team does see the benefit to manually banning cheaters instead of relying on auto-bans, it doesn’t think that can be the main method since it would be too hard to scale.

Ubisoft also said that it is currently unhappy with the current way it does battle passes and is aiming to make “a new type of battle pass that won’t be found anywhere else.” It also said that tweaks are coming to the challenges and that season pass owners will receive a battle pass bonus in the future.

The AMA covers many topics about the future of Rainbow Six Siege and you can read the entire thing over on Ubisoft’s website. The Containment event is currently live in Rainbow Six Siege, adding a special PvP mode based on the upcoming game Rainbow Six Extraction, which releases in January 2022.

HBO Max’s New Batman Podcast Releases In The Fall

HBO Max is producing a new Batman podcast. The series is titled Batman: The Audio Adventures and will feature a voice cast that includes Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), and John Leguizamo (Bloodline).

As reported by Deadline, Batman: The Audio Adventures is a scripted original series that will be released by HBO Max in the fall. Wright will play Batman, with Dawson as Catwoman and Leguizamo as the Riddler. The show will take a comedic approach to the character, and will be influenced by the classic ’60s Batman TV show, as well as the ’90s series Batman: The Animated Series. It’s written and directed by former SNL writer Dennis McNicholas and is separate from the Batman podcast that DC is producing for Spotify.

HBO has been increasing its audio output over the past couple of years. Other releases have included companion shows to the likes of Chernobyl and Lovecraft Country, an upcoming Band of Brothers series, and a spin-off from the acclaimed comedy-drama Insecure. Last year, DC’s superhero rivals Marvel announced a deal with SiriusXM to produce a series of podcasts.

As well as playing Batman in the new podcast, Wright is also set to play Commissioner Gordon in the movie The Batman, which releases in March 2022. He’ll also reprise the role of Felix Leiter in the much-delayed next Bond movie No Time To Die, which finally arrives in October.

Tony Hawk Documentary Coming From Duplass Brothers

Filmmaker duo Mark and Jay Duplass will co-produce a newly announced Tony Hawk feature documentary, according to Variety. The untitled film will be directed by Sam Jones (I Am Trying to Break Your Heart), and is expected to debut in festivals this fall followed by a wider 2022 release.

“We’ve been quietly working on this one for a few years,” producer Mark Duplass told Variety. “We are floored with the unmitigated access Tony has allowed us to his life and his fascinating relationship to the sport.”

The film will reportedly focus on the life and career of the 53-year-old skater, and it coincidentally marks the second collaboration between Hawk and Jones. The skateboarder previously appeared as a guest on Season 1 of Off Camera with Sam Jones, the filmmaker’s interview-format TV series.

As Variety also notes, this upcoming documentary about the man comes after the 2020 doc Pretending I’m a Superman–The Tony Hawk Video Game Story. As the title and timing suggests, a documentary about Hawk’s popular video game franchise has managed to come out before one about the skateboarder himself.

And, just in case anyone was wondering or doubting it–earlier this year, at 52, the Birdman uploaded a video to Twitter showing that he can still nail impressive tricks.

Ryan Reynolds Reveals the Deadpool – Bambi Crossover Pitch He Made To Disney

Ryan Reynolds made waves with this recent Deadpool and Korg crossover. But what about Deadpool and Bambi?

In a new interview with IGN, Reynolds revealed that he pitched a rather dark short film to Disney about an interrogation between the hunter from Bambi and Deadpool. You might be thinking that perhaps Deadpool wants to exact revenge on behalf of Bambi and his mother, but… that’s not the case. In a surprising twist, Reynold’s said this short film would reveal that Deadpool is actually a big fan of the hunter.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/07/13/deadpool-and-korg-team-up-for-free-guy-reaction-video-ign-news”]

“I wanted to do a short film of Deadpool interrogating the hunter who killed Bambi’s mom,” Reynolds told IGN. “But the whole gist of it is that Deadpool is actually just a huge fan. He’s not interrogating — he just wants to know how he could be the most loathed Disney character in the history of Disney… and of course, Disney was like, ‘well, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.'”

Reynolds actually pitched this short film to Disney before pitching the Deadpool-Korg collaboration that was technically Deadpool’s first MCU crossover. After his short film was rejected, Reynolds returned to Disney’s pitch table to pitch the Deadpool-Korg piece that would serve as marketing for his upcoming film, Free Guy.

“Then we came back to them — we wrote the Deadpool-Korg piece… and we sent it to them, and they said, ‘yes!’,” Reynolds told IGN. “So, my next call was to Taika and Taika was in. He’s also in Free Guy so it wasn’t that hard… Taika’s an actual genius so I was thrilled to collaborate with him as this kind of character.”

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/06/10/free-guy-official-trailer”]

Reynolds said putting Deadpool and Korg in the same room was “amazing.” Perhaps we’ll see the two cross paths again some time in the MCU. It seems almost certain that we’ll see the two team-up again before we see the Deadpool-Bambi Hunter team-up that Reynolds desires.

Monster Hunter Rise Giving Away Another Special Palamute And Palico

Monster Hunter Rise players can now add two more special buddies to their hunting party. Capcom is distributing a Palamute and Palico based on ones used by the Monster Hunter community team.

The Palamute is named Thor, while the Palico is named Mimi. To receive them, first speak to Senri the Mailman in Kamura Village and download the buddies from the Add-on Content menu. After that, talk to Iori the Buddy Handler at the Buddy Plaza and select Hire a Special Buddy to add them to your roster.

These aren’t the only special buddies available right now. Capcom is also distributing a Palamute named Wanogre, who is based on one used by a member of the Monster Hunter Rise development team. You can also receive Wanogre by downloading it from Senri and then hiring it at the Buddy Plaza.

The special buddies arrive shortly after the release of Monster Hunter Rise’s 3.2.0 update, which added the game’s second Capcom Collab Event Quest. This one is a crossover with Okami, giving you a chance to craft layered Palamute armor based on Amaterasu. Here’s a full breakdown on how to get the Okami layered armor.

In other Monster Hunter news, the series’ recent RPG spin-off, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, is receiving its second free update this week on August 5. Don’t Breathe 2 Red Band Trailer Is Dark AF

A new red band trailer for Sony’s Don’t Breathe 2 has arrived, and it’s so scary it might take your breath away. The new video spotlights the numerous and horrific ways that Stephen Lang’s Norman Nordstrom character will kill people as he tries to save his adopted daughter (Madelyn Grace).

It’s not for the faint of heart, and likely not a good idea to watch if you’re in a public setting. With those warnings out of the way, here’s the new red band trailer for Don’t Breathe 2:

Don’t Breathe 2’s official description reads, “The sequel is set in the years following the initial deadly home invasion, where Norman Nordstrom (Stephen Lang) lives in quiet solace until his past sins catch up to him.”

The movie flips the script on its head, as this time Nordstrom is breaking into a house to save his adopted daughter (via Collider). It’s directed by Rodo Sayagues, who wrote and produced the 2016 original. The original movie’s director, Fede Alvarez, is back as a writer alongside Sayagues.

The original Don’t Breathe made more than $157 million at the global box office against a reported budget of less than $10 million.

Don’t Breathe 2 opens on the spooky day of Friday the 13th of August. It releases that day alongside the Ryan Reynolds video game movie Free Guy.

TDK in The Suicide Squad: Who Is Nathan Fillion’s Character?

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is the kinda-sequel to the 2016 DC movie Suicide Squad (no “The” needed). While some characters are returning from that film, like Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller, and Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang, the cast is made up of mostly new players for this particular Squad. That includes Idris Elba as Bloodsport and also a more mysterious character called TDK — a.k.a. The Detachable Kid — who is played by Gunn’s real-life buddy Nathan Fillion.

We don’t know much about this character, other than that he appears to be a new creation of Gunn’s… albeit one based on a very obscure, very weird player from DC Comics canon. Read on for what we know about TDK in The Suicide Squad, and watch the clip below to see him in action…

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/07/23/the-suicide-squad-exclusive-official-clip-ign-premiere”][poilib element=”accentDivider”]

Who Is TDK in The Suicide Squad?

Firefly and Castle’s Nathan Fillion reteams with James Gunn for The Suicide Squad after appearing in a cameo role in Guardians of the Galaxy as well as starring in Slither and co-starring in Super, all of which were helmed by the director.

TDK is an original creation of Gunn’s, but we think we know who he’s based on. Take a look at the character poster of TDK:

Nathan Fillion plays TDK in The Suicide Squad.

The character sports a fairly standard superhero look: armor, dramatic stare, piercing eyes, arms crossed, ready to do battle. But then you notice that, well, TDK’s arms don’t seem to be connected to his body! That’s because TDK stands for… The Detachable Kid!

Rumors had indicated that this was Fillion’s character’s name, but now we know that’s what the TDK means. And diehard comics fans also know that there’s a precedent for a hero with this modus operandi, even if he went by a different name… Arm-Fall-Off-Boy!

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/the-suicide-squad-official-cast-reveal”]

Arm-Fall-Off-Boy Explained

Arm-Fall-Off-Boy — yes, that’s his actual superhero name — dates back to 1989, and has made only a rare appearance here or there in the pages of DC Comics as far as we can tell. First appearing in Secret Origins #46, Arm-Fall-Off-Boy has the power to, yes, remove his limbs. He can then use said limbs as weapons to, you know, beat on folks. He tried to join the Legion of Super-Heroes but was rejected because… come on. What super-group would want this guy on their team?

After one of DC’s many continuity reboots, the character was renamed Splitter (and given the real name Floyd Belkin), but was still a wash-out in terms of trying to make it into the Legion.

 Arm-Fall-Off-Boy in Secret Origins #46.

The thing is, the Legion of Super-Heroes are from the far-off future of the 30th century, so for Gunn to use the actual Arm-Fall-Off-Boy doesn’t quite make sense in terms of keeping to the canon of the comics universe. But then again, maybe he just decided to rename the Fillion character from the ridiculous Arm-Fall-Off-Boy to the catchier, if still ridiculous The Detachable Kid. (Fillion previously shot down rumors he was playing Arm-Fall-Boy.)

Whatever the case, this character and his unique power set are certainly perfect for a James Gunn film. Based on the roster of characters coming in The Suicide Squad, TDK would seem to fit right in with the zanier side of the cast alongside folks such as Weasel, King Shark, The Thinker, and Polka-Dot Man. But then again, before Guardians of the Galaxy came out, a talking tree and a talking raccoon also sounded pretty ridiculous. And then we all cried when Groot died and Rocket mourned for him, so let’s hold off judgment on how TDK will really be depicted until after The Suicide Squad is released, OK?

The Shining’s Spinoff Series Not Happening At HBO Max, Will Move Elsewhere – Report

Star Wars and Star Trek director JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot studio are working on spin-off TV show set in the universe of The Shining as part of his deal with WarnerMedia, but now it looks like it’ll find a new home outside of HBO Max. According to Deadline, WarnerMedia and Warner Bros. TV have decided to instead shop the show to a different network.

The site’s sources said executives at HBO Max liked the pitch for the show, which is called Overlook, but believed it was “not a fit for them at this time.” The show is said to feature “iconic characters” from the Stephen King universe, and that it would dig into “untold, terrifying stories of the most famous haunted hotel in American fiction.”

As for where Overlook will end up, we don’t know yet, but Deadline reported that it’s expected to “land at a new home soon.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix might buy Overlook.

The Shining was originally published as a novel in 1977 before Stanley Kubrick made it into a movie in 1980 starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. A sequel book, Doctor Sleep, was released in 2013, and it was adapted into a movie starring Ewan McGregor in 2019.

In 2019, Abrams, Katie McGrath, and their Bad Robot studio reached a $250 million deal with WarnerMedia to develop new projects, including video games. Earlier this year, Bad Robot Games announced that it had raised $40 million to help fund the development of a new AAA IP.
