Game Boy And Game Boy Color Titles Headed To Nintendo Switch – Report

New reports have claimed that Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online library soon. The news first broke this week on the Nate the Hate podcast during a discussion on potential handheld games coming to the Switch as part of its online subscription offerings, which were then further corroborated by Nintendo Life and Eurogamer’s sources.

Switch Online currently has a library of over 80 NES games and 50 SNES games, with numbers varying depending on the region in which the service is available. Nintendo Switch Online launched in 2018, and September 2021 marks the third anniversary of the subscription service which began life by offering a small number of NES games originally.

In the years since then, NES and SNES games have slowly trickled out of Nintendo’s vault and onto the Switch. Back in 2019, a data mine discovered the existence of not only SNES games before they were officially announced but also the presence of other emulators that were hidden behind codenames such as Kachikachi and Canoe.

The last time Game Boy games were available on a Nintendo system was during the 3DS era through the virtual console, which allowed for dozens of Nintendo’s greatest handheld hits to find a second life on its dual-screen system.

Several Pokemon games, The Legend of Zelda, and Donkey King Land were just some of the games added to that library during the Nintendo 3DS’s run.

GameSpot has contacted Nintendo for further comment, and we’ll update the story when we receive a response.

Lost Judgment: Sega Details DLC Roadmap, Includes New Story Content

Sega has revealed its DLC roadmap for Lost Judgment, which includes a story DLC, a new fighting style, cosmetic items, and more.

Sega says players who preorder the Digital Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of Lost Judgment will have access to additional content at launch and beyond. Right now there’s no word on pricing or availability for standard edition owners.

In Spring 2022, Lost Judgment is getting a major story expansion with The Kaito Files. In this additional content, Masaharu Kaito, Takayuki Yagami’s partner, takes center stage as the playable character. Sega says this expansion adds about 10 hours of content to Lost Judgment.

On October 26, the School Stories expansion comes to Lost Judgment. In this expansion, Yagami’s friends join the boxing ring minigame as extra opponents. Yagami can also take his boxing moves to the street with a new fighting style.

Before the additional story content launches, players can expect the Quick-Start Support and Detective Essentials Pack. Everyone who preorders the game gets the Quick-Start Pack, which comes with bonus health items, combat buffs, and attacks. The Detective pack is available at launch for those who preorder one of the game’s special editions. It comes with cosmetic items, additional playable Sega Master System games for your detective office, a rideable hoverboard, and more dateable characters.

Lost Judgment comes to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S later this month. The game includes a free next-gen upgrade on PlayStation and Xbox. It launches on September 21 for those who preorder the Ultimate or Digital Deluxe Edition, and on September 25 for the standard edition. For more, check out our Lost Judgment preview.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings End Credits Scenes Explained

Marvel Studios’ latest superhero movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings offers fans a pair of end credits scenes, one taking place shortly after the movie wraps and the other after the credits finish.

We’re going to explain what happens in each scene and use the comics to help understand exactly what these scenes are setting up for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Warning: full spoilers for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!

Shang-Chi Mid-Credits Scene

The mid-credits scene shows Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Katy (Awkwafina) fresh off their victory in Ta Lo, recounting their fantastical adventure to their friends over drinks. A magical portal opens and Wong (Benedict Wong) steps out to invite the duo back to a place we assume is the base of operations for Earth’s sorcerers, Kamar-Taj. (Maybe Doctor Strange wasn’t around because he was busy helping Spider-Man?) Wong is particularly interested in the Ten Rings that Shang-Chi now wears, having inherited them after the soul-sucking Dweller-in-Darkness killed his father Wenwu (Tony Leung).

The Ten Rings are a weapon of extraordinary power, and we watch as a small council of Avengers meet to discuss them now that they’re in friendly hands. Shang-Chi, Katy, and Wong are joined by holograms of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) as they observe a mystical diagram projected by the Ten Rings. (It’s notable that Bruce is no longer Smart Hulk–he’s now back to his human self and the arm injured from snapping with the Infinity Gauntlet is still in a splint.)

The group debates the origin of the Ten Rings. At the start of the movie it’s said that Wenwu discovered the rings 1000 years ago but their exact origin is unknown, with one story saying they were found in a crater and another in a tomb. Wong says the rings don’t match any artifact from their codex in Kamar-Taj. Bruce says the rings aren’t made from Vibranium and asks Carol if they could be from the Chitauri. Carol says they’re not Chitauri nor are they like any alien tech she’s ever seen. Shang-Chi says his father found the rings about 1000 years ago, and Bruce says a thermal luminescence scan shows the rings are a lot older than that.

Wong explains that when Shang-Chi came into possession of the Ten Rings, he felt it all the way in Kamar-Taj. Zooming in on the diagram of the Ten Rings, we see the rings are emitting a beacon of some kind. It appears Shang-Chi, by using them in the final battle, somehow awoke the rings, but it’s unclear what the signal means. The characters think the rings are sending a message, but to where no one can say.

In the comics, the Ten Rings are quite different than in the movie. Instead of a set of armbands, they are 10 different colored finger rings that grant the wearer various super powers.

The comic book version of the Mandarin originally found the rings aboard an alien spaceship belonging to a Makluan explorer named Axonn-Karr, who he killed before raiding his ship and making off with the rings. The Makluans are a reptilian alien race from a planet called Maklu IV. Marvel Comics fans are likely familiar with the most notorious Makluan, Fin Fang Foom, a massive dragon that has attacked Earth on more than one occasion. Dweller-in-Darkness appears to be the MCU’s version of Fin Fang Foom, considering its similar dragon-like appearance and telepathic powers, but the name was likely changed because it has long been criticized for being racially insensitive. If the Ten Rings are sending a message back to Maklu IV, then they could be summoning a whole army of reptilian monsters to attack Earth.

Then again, Carol’s comment about the Ten Rings not appearing to be any sort of alien tech might contradict that theory. Given how she has traveled the cosmos for decades and is the Avengers’ resident expert on aliens, she would probably know alien tech when she saw it. So her being unfamiliar with the Ten Rings may be a hint that they do not come from any place in the known universe.

With that in mind, we have another theory on where the Ten Rings came from, and it fits in with the overarching theme of Phase 4: the multiverse. If the Ten Rings aren’t from anywhere in our universe, then maybe they came from another universe altogether. As we saw in the Season 1 finale of Marvel’s Loki series, the “Sacred Timeline” was shattered after the death of He Who Remains (aka Kang the Conqueror), causing the multiverse to spawn anew. Perhaps the Ten Rings came from one of those new branch realities and in the chaos somehow came to be on Earth. In the comics, Kang has access to the most powerful weapons across space and time, so it could be that the Ten Rings are a weapon he left behind while waging his multiversal war. The MCU’s next all-hands-on-deck crisis seems like it will have to do with the multiverse (Secret Wars, anyone?), so if the Ten Rings are connected to it then that would give our new hero Shang-Chi a tangible tie to it.

It’s also worth pointing out that the upcoming MCU movie Eternals will tell a story that spans 7000 years, and it will feature the cosmic titans known as the Celestials, so perhaps we will learn more about the origin of the Ten Rings in that Marvel film. The Celestials are essentially space gods that wield unimaginable power, so it could be that the Ten Rings are an artifact they left behind on Earth long ago.

Shang-Chi End-Credits Scene

After the credits finish rolling, the post-credits scene reveals what’s next for Shang-Chi’s sister Xialing (Meng’er Zhang). During the movie, Xialing shared how she ran away from home to create her own criminal enterprise because her father wouldn’t let her be a part of his. And with the death of her father, she wastes no time merging her organization with the Ten Rings and moving into her father’s base of operations.

Most notably, women are now seen receiving the martial arts training there that Xialing never did when she was young.

While MCU Xialing seems to have proven herself to be a decent person at heart who is now on good terms with her brother Shang-Chi, one key moment shows that she may be turning to the dark side. During the mid-credits bar scene, when asked about his sister Shang-Chi says that she’s shutting down their father’s operations, so she seems to have deceived her brother and hidden her intention to take over instead. This duplicitous turn falls in line with the comic book versions of her character that are far more villainous.

It’s important to point out that there is no Xialing in the comics–she was created just for the movie (most likely due to her origin as the daughter of the racist “Fu Manchu” character), but her character seems to be an amalgamation of Shang-Chi’s five sisters in the comics (sister Zheng Shi-Hua and half-sisters Zheng Bao Yu, Kwai Far, Esme and Zheng Zhilan). Common traits among Shang-Chi’s sisters include a villainous edge, conflicted feelings about their brother, a desire for their father’s power, and deadly martial arts skills. Xialing’s appearance seems to be based on Zheng Bao Yu in particular.

If Shang-Chi’s sisters from the comics are any indication, then we’re likely to see Xialing once again at odds with her brother as she uses the new Ten Rings organization to accumulate more power. After all, the movie’s final moment does promise “The Ten Rings will return.” and seems to imply the return of both the criminal organization and the actual weapon.

Where Is Xur Today? (Sept. 3-7) – Destiny 2 Xur Location And Exotics Guide

The fun of Radiant Dance Machines might be over for now in Destiny 2 (at least in the Crucible and Gambit), but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more great Exotics for you to mess around with in the Season of the Lost. Xur is back with a new inventory of Exotics for you to fill out your collection and give yourself an edge throughout the solar system.

We’ll update this post as soon as Xur lands in the solar system, identifying exactly where you can find him and what Exotics–and other weapons and armor–he’s carrying this week.

Now Playing: Destiny 2: The Witch Queen – What You Need To Know

Xur returns to the solar system every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday. The thing is, where he’ll land isn’t known until he actually arrives. Xur can hang out at one of several locations, including in the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher’s Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ. Xur’s inventory also changes each week, so it’s worth revisiting him on the weekends for new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the solar system.

Each week, Xur offers one Exotic weapon and three pieces of Exotic armor: one for each character class. The inventory is random, as are the stat rolls you can expect on each of his armor offerings, so if you’re looking to fill out your collection or if you’re hoping for better versions of Exotics you already have, it’s worth visiting him. Xur also brings an Exotic Engram, which is guaranteed to drop something you don’t already have, if there are Exotics missing from your collection on that particular character–but that doesn’t include Exotics you have to earn through activities, including the new Exotic armors added each season, which can only be claimed from Legendary or Master Lost Sectors.

Fortnite Shang-Chi Skin Now Available

The Fortnite Shang-Chi skin is now available in the Item Shop, signaling a relationship between juggernauts Epic and Marvel that is still going strong. The Shang-Chi skin arrives in Fortnite just in time for the hero’s debut feature film, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which hits theaters on September 3.

Fortnite Shang-Chi Skin

Like most collaborations with other brands, the Fortnite Shang-Chi skin includes more than just the character. Also included in the hero’s complete bundle for those who want it are the following items:

  • Great Protector’s Shield back bling
  • Blades of the Brother Hand pickaxes
  • Dragon’s Scale wrap
Shang-Chi will find many familiar Marvel faces on the Fortnite island.
Shang-Chi will find many familiar Marvel faces on the Fortnite island.

The Shang-Chi skin joins a lengthy list of Marvel heroes already in Fortnite. These days, a Marvel launch is a virtual guarantee of a Fortnite tie-in. While sometimes the skins are based on new iterations of the character or stay closer to their comic styles, the Shang-Chi skin looks plucked right out of the new movie.

Last year, Fortnite hosted an all-Marvel Season 4 where the entire battle pass was made up of Marvel characters and cosmetics like She-Hulk, Wolverine, and Iron Man. Epic CCO Donald Mustard once said crossovers like that were merely the tip of the iceberg between the two companies.

“This is just the start,” Mustard told the This Week In Marvel Podcast back in 2020. “This is the start of lots of stuff we have planned for many years in this Marvel integration. Like, this is not the end. This is the beginning.”

Shang-Chi is still but a continuation of that virtually endless train. So long as Fortnite and Marvel remain atop the pop culture mountain, we can expect many more collaborations between the two brands for years to come.

If you need more licensed skins, other recent crossovers have included the Justice League’s Wonder Woman, reggaeton ambassador J Balvin, and Bad Boys’ Mike Lowrey.

Psychonauts 2 Ford’s Follicles Collectibles Guide

The midgame of Psychonauts 2 is all about finding ways to repair the shattered mind of Ford Cruller. After Raz gets in touch with Ford, he finds the legendary Psychonaut’s psyche has splintered into three parts, and Raz will have to enter all of them to bring Ford back to his senses. You can find Ford’s aspects scattered around the Motherlobe, with one manning the Psychonauts HQ’s on-site barbershop.

Once you do some work around the Motherlobe, you can delve into barber Ford’s mind to access the Ford’s Follicles level. Here are all the things you can find inside, from Emotional Baggage to Nuggets of Wisdom. Stay tuned for more Psychonauts 2 coverage and guides, including our rundown of all the collectibles in Loboto’s Labyrinth, Hollis’s Classroom, and Hollis’ Hot Streak, and Compton’s Cookoff. And don’t forget to check out our Psychonauts 2 review.

Ford’s Follicles Collectibles

  • Nuggets of Wisdom: 1
  • Memory Vaults: 1
  • Emotional Baggage: Steamer Trunk
  • Half-A-Minds: 2
  • Figments: 43

The three aspects of Ford Cruller present some slightly smaller-than-usual levels for you to explore. Each is a bit simpler than locations like Hollis’s Hot Streak or Compton’s Cookoff. Still, there are a few things that are easy to miss as you explore Ford’s silky locks and start to uncover the secrets of the Psychonauts.

Nugget of Wisdom: As soon as you leave the barbershop and enter the world made out of hair, look to your right. Use Psi Blast on the button stuck in the wall, which will activate a hairdryer. Use the gust it creates to leap across the gap and grab the bacon-shaped Nugget of Wisdom.

Half-A-Mind: As you leave the barbershop, you should be able to spot this Half-A-Mind, which is a bit easier to nab than the Nugget of Wisdom. Look for it on the sides of the path as you head out into the town of hair.

No Caption Provided

Mental Vault: Another one that’s pretty close to main path, but easy to bypass. Look for the big sign that says “Did you know there’s a war going on”. The Mental Vault will be hanging out just in the shadows off the path, ready to bolt if you get too close.

Steamer Trunk Tag: You’ll see this one on your path, after crossing a gap with a couple of hair dryers. Look for it near the yellow hut where you’ll fight a handful of Censors, before you cross a tile bridge that takes you back into an interior area.

Steamer Trunk: Look for the trunk nestled to the side of the lighthouse, somewhat hidden in shadow. The bottle of Victory Shampoo acts as a landmark.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage Rated PG-13, Just Like The First One

Venom: Let There Be Carnage pits its titular character against a remorseless serial killer, but much of that violence may be off-screen, as the film is receiving the same PG-13 rating as its predecessor, Sony has announced (via IGN).

The MPA’s Film Ratings site lists the reasons for each film, and for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, we can look forward to “intense sequences of violence and action, some strong language, disturbing material, and suggestive references.” The first Venom film, which raked in $853 million at the worldwide box office, was also rated PG-13. There, it was for “intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for language.”

The sequel stars Tom Hardy as reporter Eddie Brock who, following the first film, now lives alongside the symbiote Venom, and introduces Woody Harrelson as the serial killer Cletus Kasady, who appeared briefly in a post-credits stinger for the first film. Kasady becomes infected with a piece of the Venom symbiote, which feeds off of the murderer’s intentions and becomes its own organism known as Carnage. The story is most likely adapting pieces of the Maximum Carnage storyline from the Marvel comics, albeit without the addition of Spider-Man in the mix.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been delayed a handful of times due the COVID-19 pandemic, but is headed for release next month. Ahead of that, check out the latest trailer for the film and the grotesque new poster. Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits theaters on October 15, 2021.

Psychonauts 2 Strike City Collectibles Guide

A big part of the story of Psychonauts 2 has you working to repair the shattered mind of famed Psychonaut agent Ford Cruller, which takes you into three distinct versions of his psyche. When you finally make your way into the Astral Lanes bowling alley, after completing Compton’s Cookoff, you can jump into Cruller’s mind to experience a bowling-themed apocalypse scenario: Strike City.

Here’s how to find everything hidden in Strike City. Stay tuned for more Psychonauts 2 coverage and guides, including our rundown of all the collectibles in Loboto’s Labyrinth, Hollis’s Classroom, and Hollis’ Hot Streak, and Ford’s Follicles. And don’t forget to check out our Psychonauts 2 review.

Strike City Collectibles

  • Nuggets of Wisdom:1
  • Memory Vaults: 1
  • Emotional Baggage: Duffle Bag, Suit Case
  • Half-A-Minds: 1
  • Figments: 52

The gimmick of Strike City is that you’ll have to roll on top of a bowling ball whenever you need to use a path that looks like a bowling lane–you’re not allowed to walk on the lanes, after all. That said, you’ll want to hop off the ball at several intervals in order to run down collectibles. They tend to be off to the side in Strike City, hidden in the architecture in places you don’t necessarily need to go.

Duffel Bag Emotional Baggage: After arriving in Strike City, head down the first big jump. When you reach the next rooftop, you’ll see a ball return machine to one side. Head around the wall it’s pressed against to find the Duffel Bag on the far side, next to a figment.

Memory Vault: On the next rooftop, look to the edge where you can drop down to find the Memory Vault hidden out of sight.

Suitcase Tag: As you keep moving, you’ll soon come to a rooftop covered in green slime. You can’t really walk through this–it slows you down and keeps you from jumping–so you’ll need to ride a bowling ball to navigate the goo. Use your bowling ball to hop across the gap between the rooftops to another area covered in goo. Head to the back right corner and check behind the trailers there to find the Suitcase Tag.

No Caption Provided

Nugget of Wisdom: Ahead, you’ll hop up onto the side of a building, where gravity will shift to allow you to walk on the new surface. Cross that building and you’ll reach a rooftop where you can hop down to a side area, marked by a water tower. Climb up to the top of it to find the Nugget of Wisdom.

Suitcase Emotional Baggage: Continue until you hit a building that’s under construction. You’ll need to carefully ride a bowling ball to the top by climbing ramps and using moving girders to travel across gaps. Before you start climbing, though, check under the ramp on the left side of the area. Roll your bowling ball to the back left corner of the bottom floor, where you’ll find bowling pins you can knock down with the ball. Behind them, the Suitcase is waiting.

No Caption Provided

Half-A-Mind: In this same half-constructed building, ride your bowling ball all the way to the top. When you get there, ride around the edge of the building carefully and look for a protruding girder. Carefully hop off your bowling ball and walk out on the girder to grab your Half-A-Mind.
