Sony has unveiled a new edition of the PS5’s Pulse 3D wireless headset: Midnight Black. If that sounds familiar, it’s because Midnight Black was also used with the new DualSense colors that launched this summer. Though the Midnight Black headset won’t match your PS5–breaking the perfect symmetry between console, controller, and headset–it will of course match the Midnight Black DualSense (if you’ve picked one of those up). The Pulse 3D Midnight Black edition releases October 22, and it’s available to preorder now for $100.
The Pulse 3D Midnight Black edition looks pretty similar to the original PlayStation Gold headset for PS4. If you’re looking for a PS5 (or PS4) headset that offers the best value in terms of performance at the price, the Pulse 3D is an excellent option. It’s featured in our roundup of the best PS5 headsets. The Pulse features Sony’s 3D audio tech and has a hidden noise-canceling microphone. It’s a lightweight and comfortable headset thanks to its soft, plush earcups and adjustable headband. The Pulse runs for up to 12 hours on a full charge.
The arrival of the Pulse 3D Midnight Black edition means that two of the three DualSense color options now have matching headsets. Now we can only hope that PlayStation releases a Cosmic Red Pulse 3D to match the coolest DualSense controller color scheme.
Stock has stabilized on most PS5 accessories, but if you’re interested in the Midnight Black Pulse headset, it’d be smart to order as soon as possible. With the holiday season around the corner, it’s certainly possible that some of the most popular PS5 accessories will be a bit of a challenge to find. Of course, the PS5 itself is still dealing with shortages, so make sure to check out our PS5 restock tracker if you’re still on the hunt for a console.
Video games have long pitted people against some of the greatest horrors ever devised by mortal imagination, ranging from biblical big bads such as the devil to more realistic foes such as a cybernetically-enhanced Adolf Hitler, but even they pale in comparison to the true evil of a British prime minister brought back from the dead.
Thatcher’s Techbase is that game, as you’ll explore the tenth circle of Hell–the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland–to put an end to Margaret Thatcher’s latest reign of darkness.
On September 24th, Margaret Thatcher will rise from her grave. Only you can send her back to Hell.

The best part is that the game is entirely free, and also features a soundtrack by Barry “Epoch” Topping, the composer of soundtracks for games such as Paradise Killer and Jack B. Nimble. The nightmare fuel brainchild of Jim Purvis, Thatcher’s Techbase can be downloaded from this website and features five levels of difficulty, as well as support for co-op and deathmatch play.
Historically, Thatcher was prime minister of Britain from 1979-1990 and was known as the Iron Lady for her uncompromising attitude during her career. A polarizing figure with a complicated legacy, Thatcher passed away in 2013.
This isn’t the first time that Thatcher has been brought back from the dead, as back in 2020 current British prime minister Boris Johnson bungled a necromantic ritual to summon Winston Churchill and got the Iron Lady instead.
Ubisoft’s new guitar game, Rocksmith+, has been delayed to next year. The publisher has confirmed that the game will now launch at some undetermined point in 2022.
“We’ve mapped out the work we’d like to prioritize following your feedback and decided to push the release of Rocksmith+ to 2022,” Ubisoft said in a blog post. “We understand that this delay is disappointing. Our decision stems from a commitment to quality first, and a desire to meet the high expectations of our community and ourselves. Every Rocksmith+ player deserves to easily find the music you care about, to feel a sense of growth and mastery over your instrument, and to trust that the notes you play are heard fairly and accurately.”

Now Playing: Rocksmith+ Full Presentation | Ubisoft Forward 2021
Rocksmith+ is designed as a live service game that gets new updates constantly, and this requires the studio to “think long term,” Ubisoft said. The studio said it is mindful of the work-life balance for its employees, too. “A healthy team means a healthy product built to last for many years to come. Thank you all for your patience and for your understanding while we put in the extra time,” Ubisoft said.
A beta for Rocksmith+ took place earlier this year and wrapped up in July. The blog post runs through many of the key pieces of feedback from the beta, and you can read it here.
“Quality is paramount for us. We thank you for your understanding as we work toward making Rocksmith+ the best experience it can be,” Ubisoft said.
The developer of the popular “Halo meets Portal” multiplayer shooter Splitgate is staying independent and has raised $100 million in funding to help support its ambitions.
CEO Ian Proulx said in a statement that, “I am happy to confirm that we are NOT selling our company to one of the big guys.”
Instead, 1047 Games will stay independent and continue to be a “community-first” game developer. The $100 million in funding will help 1047 Games stay on that path and grow.
With the injection of cash, 1047 Games plans to hire “a lot” more developers, and this will in turn help the team deliver more and better updates to Splitgate, including new features based on feedback from the community. This will also help the studio fix bugs faster and support a wider base of players overall.
“Everything is now on the table, and the scope of what we can achieve just got 10X bigger!” Proulx said.
The focus over the coming months will be to grow the studio to become a team on a AAA scale. But Proulx said the studio will do its best to “[stay] true to our roots as an indie team that prioritizes our community.”
“When Splitgate comes out of beta and launches 1.0, it will be a truly historic launch beyond anything we previous could have dreamed of,” Proulx said.
The $100 million in funding came from investments by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Insight Partners, and Anthos Capital. These three companies join previous investors Galaxy Interactive, VGames, Human Capital, Lakestar, DraperDragon, and Draper University. 1047 Games is now valued at $1.5 billion, according to GI.biz.
Dark Horse’s long-running coming Grendel will be adapted into an eight-episode TV show by Netflix. The series will star Abubakr Ali in the lead role of Grendel, AKA Hunter Rose, with the supporting cast including Brittany Allen, Julian Black Antelope, Kevin Corrigan, and Emma Ho.
The series logline reads: “Based on Matt Wagner’s groundbreaking comic book series, Grendel follows Hunter Rose, a gifted fencer, writer and assassin as, seeking to avenge the death of a lost love, he goes to war with New York’s criminal underworld, only to realize…why beat them, when you can join them?”
Andrew Dabb will serve as writer and showrunner for Grendel. Dabb previously has written for The CW’s Supernatural, also taking up the mantle of co-showrunner from season 12 onwards. He’s also a writer on Netflix’s upcoming Resident Evil TV show.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled about the Grendel saga, one of the longest-running independent comics series, finally being translated into live-action for the screen,” said Grendel creator Matt Wagner in a press release. “I’m especially excited to see Abubakr Ali bring the character of Grendel/Hunter Rose to life–he has the charisma, style and vital edginess that I’ve been envisioning in the role for years.”
The show isn’t the first collaboration between Netflix and Dark Horse, who currently have a first-look deal. Netflix’s hit show The Umbrella Academy is also adapted from a Dark Horse comic, as was the 2019 film Polar. The two companies are also working together on the upcoming animated show Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles.
Life is Strange: True Colors has six distinct endings, each of which can also play out in a few different ways depending on several factors. In order to get the best possible ending, protagonist Alex will need to convince the most prominent members of the Haven community that she’s a trustworthy person. To do that, you’ll have to make several specific choices in all five chapters.
Perhaps this goes without saying, but this guide contains spoilers. If you want to follow a spoiler-free guide of True Colors, you can find that with our Life is Strange: True Colors walkthrough. The walkthrough goes over all five chapters, listing the prominent decisions as they happen so you won’t get spoiled for what happens in later chapters.
Life Is Strange: True Colors Walkthrough
Securing The Vote
Alright, first things first. Regardless of which of the six endings you get, the tone of the final moments in True Colors is dependent on whether the Haven community votes in support of Alex’s wild claims, or against her. In that regard, you’ll have to convince six people to side with you to garner full support: Steph, Ryan, Duckie, Eleanor, Charlotte, and Pike.
Steph is, thankfully, very easy to convince as she will always side with Alex no matter what choices you make in the game (which is another reason why she’s the superior romance option). The other five won’t be so simple. You’ll need to make certain decisions throughout the game to secure their trust.
God bless Steph, the only one who will support Alex no matter what.
Securing Duckie’s Support
To secure Duckie’s support, you’ll need to interact with him twice: once in Chapter 1 and again in Chapter 4. Both instances aren’t mandatory–you’ll have to seek Duckie out and talk to him when you’re allowed to walk around Haven and complete optional content.
Chapter 1 “Side A”: When you’re covering for Gabe and working as a server, go up to Duckie and Diane to get their orders. You then need to get both of their orders right when telling them to Jed–part of that is tracking down Duckie’s usual brand of whisky. You can find the whiskey upstairs in between the cushions of Alex’s couch.
Chapter 4 “Flicker”: At the festival, you can find Duckie wallowing in grief off to the side. Read his emotions to figure out why he’s sad and then interact with the highlighted objects nearby. With what you learn, you’ll be able to ask him to dance–this will lighten his spirits.
Securing Eleanor’s Support
Securing Eleanor’s support is actually quite simple as you can easily miss the opportunities to betray her trust and make her think that Alex isn’t a trustworthy person. You’ll need to look out for choices you can make in Chapters 2, 3, and 4.
Chapter 2 “Lanterns”: After helping Eleanor work through her fear puzzle, you’ll be confronted with the choice between telling her the truth or letting her live in ignorance. As much as it hurts, tell her the truth–this establishes that she can trust Alex.
Chapter 3 “Monster Or Mortal”: If you choose to stop into the flower shop during the LARP to check in on Riley, do not tell Riley about Eleanor’s condition. Doing so will betray Eleanor’s trust in Alex. If you just don’t talk to Riley, that works too.
Chapter 4 “Flicker”: Again, if you choose to track Riley down before she leaves for college, say your goodbyes but make sure to not tell her about Eleanor. Riley needs to leave Haven for Eleanor to trust Alex. Like in Chapter 3, you can just ignore Riley and that counts towards securing Eleanor’s trust.
Securing Charlotte’s Support
For Charlotte to support you, she needs to be just as angry at Typhon as Alex is by the end of True Colors’ campaign. To that end, you must help her through her grief instead of trying to manipulate her emotions. There are some optional interactions early on that you need to hit, and a mandatory interaction in Chapter 3 that is crucial.
You’ll have to carefully navigate Charlotte’s grief in order to secure her trust.
Chapter 1 “A Side”: You should reveal Ethan’s plans to go to the abandoned mine after dark to Gabe when you have the chance–Charlotte will appreciate that you’re looking out for Ethan. This will, however, lower Ethan’s opinion of Alex. If you want the best of both worlds, you can lie for Ethan here and do something later in Chapter 2 to make up for it.
Chapter 2 “Lanterns”: After Charlotte asks Alex to stop by the marijuana dispensary, make sure to do so. Charlotte will ask if it’s right to take Typhon’s sketchy settlement, which offers enough money to secure Ethan’s future. Tell Charlotte to take the settlement, showing that Alex cares about Ethan, just like Gabe did.
Chapter 2 “Lanterns”: If you chose to keep Ethan’s secret to maintain his trust in Alex, make sure to do this step in Chapter 2 as well. If you decided to rat Ethan out, you can skip this step but it’s also quite wholesome so regardless of what you did, we recommend doing this. Go find Ethan in the park after talking to Charlotte and read his emotions to find out why he’s so sad and why he’s stopped confiding in his mom. Using that information, you can now go back to Charlotte and tell her what’s bothering her son, reaffirming that you are someone who is trustworthy.
Chapter 3 “Monster Or Mortal”: Do not take Charlotte’s anger from her. Do not do it. Not only does taking away her anger remove the possibility of securing Charlotte’s support later on in the game, doing so will destroy your chances of getting Ryan’s support too.
Securing Pike’s Support
Pike is rather easy to get on your side. The only thing stopping him from doing what’s right is his fear of Typhon–take that fear away and he’ll back you. You get the chance to do so at the end of Chapter 4.
Chapter 4 “Flicker”: When confronted with the option of taking away Pike’s fear, do it. It will make Alex a fearful mess for the rest of the chapter but it secures Pike’s support.
Securing Ryan’s Support
Without a doubt, Ryan is the most difficult person for Alex to sway to her side. You have to do a lot in order for him to side with Alex against True Colors’ secondary antagonist. You will have to interact with him and make very specific choices in every single chapter in order for Ryan to side with Alex.
Ryan is the most difficult person to sway to Alex’s side, but you must in order to get the “good” ending.
Chapter 1 “Side A”: When looking for Ethan, Ryan will try to restore power to the building that he and Alex are in and he’ll ask whether he should mess with the red or black wire. This is an optional conversation that pops up while you’re exploring, so you’ll miss it if you don’t answer in time or if you accidentally walk too far forward and trigger a cutscene. So when it pops up, stop what you’re doing to answer. You want to tell him, “Red wire.”
Chapter 2 “Lanterns”: At Gabe’s wake, support Ryan’s claim that you heard Gabe make the call to stop the detonation. Yes, it’s a lie, but it shows that you support Ryan, which will help him then support you.
Chapter 2 “Lanterns”: After telling Ryan about your powers, hug him. It will imply that you appreciate him, which will help him appreciate you.
Chapter 3 “Monster Or Mortal”: When making a plan to distract Diane, say that Ryan should distract Diane. It will imply that when the chips are down, you turn to Ryan, which means he can turn to you when he’s looking for answers.
Chapter 3 “Monster Or Mortal”: Do not have an angry outburst in front of Ryan and Steph, causing them both to leave Alex. The only way to avoid this is for Alex to not be angry, which means you cannot take Charlotte’s anger away from her.
Chapter 4 “Flicker”: Give Ryan a rose, showing that Alex is interested in him.
Chapter 4 “Flicker”: After rocking out on stage, meet Ryan on the roof of your apartment and kiss him.
Chapter 5 “Side B”: After revealing the truth about Typhon and Jed to the folks on Haven’s council, you’ll be able to talk to Ryan. Provided you’ve secured everyone else’s trust, Ryan should have just heard all the ways that Alex is worth trusting over his own father. Pick the dialogue option “You believe me, right?” so that you’re not forcing his trust onto you, but asking for it instead.
True Colors’ Six Endings
Once you’re past the meeting, regardless of whether folks believed in you or not, Alex will have two choices for her future. Those two choices can be colored based on who she romanced in True Colors, whether she’s still dating the person she chose to romance, and who is still in Haven by the end of the game. The final scenes can also be colored by who supported Alex during the vote.
Depending on your choices, Alex can take over the record store from Steph.
Alex Stays In Haven: If Alex didn’t romance anyone, she can choose to stay in Haven on her own. She takes over the record store following Steph’s decision to leave Haven.
Alex Seeks Adventure: If Alex didn’t romance anyone, she can choose to leave Haven and pursue a solo career in music. If Eleanor, Charlotte, and Pike supported Alex during the vote, they’ll see her off. If they didn’t support her, Alex will just leave.
Alex Stays In Haven With Steph: If Alex romanced Steph, she can choose to stay in Haven with her and the two will manage the record store side-by-side.
Alex Seeks Adventure With Steph: If Alex romanced Steph, she can choose to leave Haven and pursue a music career with her girlfriend. You’ll get to see photos of the two journeying across the United States together, as well as a scene where Steph watches Alex give her first solo live performance before a crowd of people.
Alex Stays In Haven With Ryan: If Alex romanced Ryan and secured his support for the vote (or she forgave him for not supporting her after the vote), she can choose to stay in Haven with him. Ryan takes over the Black Lantern while Alex takes over the record store.
Alex Seeks Adventure With Ryan: If Alex romanced Ryan and secured his support for the vote (or she forgave him for not supporting her after the vote), she can leave Haven alongside Ryan and Steph. While Steph goes her own way, Alex and Ryan will travel the country. Alex pursues a career in music, with Ryan watching from the crowd.
Several God of War: Ragnarok details were revealed at Sony’s PlayStation showcase. Check out our breakdown of everything we know so far for the highly anticipated sequel. This includes info on characters, new worlds, combat, and where the story picks up following the events of the prequel. Sony’s PlayStation showcase got us up to speed on God of War: Ragnarok. Viewers were treated to gameplay and more following the original 30-second teaser from nearly a year ago. The showcase brought us details with the story, introduced new characters, and showed us new worlds along the way.
Taking place shortly after the events of the first, the trailer reveals that Ragnarok (the Norse mythological end of the world) is indeed coming. On their quest to prevent it, Kratos and Atreyus return to find Odin. While the trailer didn’t feature the all-father this time, we did get a quick look at Thor. (played by Sons of Anarchy’s Ryan Hurst)
The presentation ended with a developer interview where new director Eric Williams discussed how Santa Monica Studio likes to change directors when they can for a fresh take on the creative process. With the exception of previous director Cory Barlog-who directed God of War from 2018 as well as God of War 2 from 2007. God of War Ragnarok is slated to release in 2022.

Marvelous First Studio wants to make a sequel to Daemon X Machina–in fact, producer Kenichiro Tsukuda has all but announced a follow-up to the game. But don’t expect it anytime soon.
“While this isnβt really an announcement, Iβd like to make a strong declaration as we end here that weβre going to make a sequel–a β2′,” Tsukada said during the game’s 2nd Anniversary live stream. Tsukuda himself is motivated but said the team at First Studio needs time for testing in order to consider what comes next.
Tsukada said he wants to bring some new employees onboard the studio and since the games industry is always changing as time goes on, he wonders what direction he should take. He’s made the declaration for a sequel to Daemon X Machina, but it’s going to take some time until it comes out.
In our review of Daemon X Machina, Steve Watts wrote, “The missed potential of the story and minor issues with mech-vs-mech combat and multiplayer loadouts make Daemon X Machina fall just short of its potential, but the foundation is strong. As a total package, itβs on the verge of greatness; it just needed a little more time in the shop tinkering.”
Hopefully, First Studio will take the time it needs to create a sequel that builds on the first game while addressing its shortcomings.
Daemon X Machina first launched on Nintendo Switch in September 2019. It was then released on Steam in February 2020. Marvelous even collaborated with CD Projekt Red for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt crossover DLC and brought Geralt and Ciri to Daemon X Machina.
