Filmmaker JJ Abrams has revealed new details about Carrie Fisher’s posthumous role in The Rise of Skywalker, explaining how Leia Organa’s story will honor the franchise’s original plans for her character.
In an interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar), Abrams opened up about the process of repurposing unseen footage of the late Star Wars actress for Episode IX, as he expressed his desire to tell the same story he would have told prior to Fisher’s sudden death in December 2016.
