Iron Fist Season 2–or Iron Fist 2 for short–will arrive on Netflix on September 7, the streaming company announced during its Iron Fist panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. The new season will feature fight choreography by Creed and Black Panther choreographer Clayton Barber, and will guest star Simone Missick as Misty Knight and Alice Eve (from Star Trek: Into Darkness) as villain Typhoid Mary, next to Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand)–all of whom were in attendance on the panel.

Netflix also showed footage from Iron Fist Season 2 during the panel. In one short clip (watch it above), Rand puts his fighting skills to use stopping an alleyway robbery. In a voiceover, he says, “A war is brewing. This is my city now. It’s my duty to protect it. And I’m not letting it down.”

Jeph Loeb, the head of Marvel Television, said one of their goals was to “up the game” in terms of the show’s fight choreography in Season 2. In an exclusive clip, Rand fought a whole crew of bad guys, showing off a crisp new style of action for the show.

The clip showed Rand standing in the middle of the street with a cloth mask over the bottom half of his face, wearing a hoodie. Rand holds up his hand, and a truck stops in the middle of the road. The driver guns it, and Rand sidesteps, iron-fisting the truck’s front end and knocking the wheels off. He beats up everyone in the truck, dodging gunfire, and ends the fight by iron-fisting the ground, knocking all his opponents down and setting off nearby car alarms.

Henwick went on to tease the Daughters of the Dragon, a fan favorite duo consisting of Colleen Wing and Misty Knight. Another exclusive clip showed Misty and Colleen fighting together, before breaking off into separate battles. Misty uses her metal arm to knock an assailant off a motorcycle, while Colleen fights off two other skilled women inside.

Yet another clip showed the two engaged in a fight with the machete-wielding Typhoid Mary, Eve’s character, a comics villain who’s new to Marvel’s live action universe.

“Seeing these two badasses together, I think these fans are going to love,” Henwick said during the panel.

Missick compared her place in Iron Fist Season 2 with Colleen’s role in Luke Cage Season 2. “Misty comes to Iron Fist season 2, where Colleen is kind of in a similar headspace [to Misty in Luke Cage Season 2]; she’s not really sure where she is in the world, where she fits in terms of helping her community, and Misty’s there to tell her to pick herself up,” Missick said. “And there’s no BS between these two; it’s not like them sitting on the couch like, ‘Oh my god, what’s up with you and Danny?’…That’s the best thing about these two women’s relationship.”

Another clip, a flashback set inside K’un-Lun, showed Danny and Sacha Dhawan’s character Davos facing each other in an extremely brutal ritual fight meant to determine which of them would face the infamous dragon and become the Iron Fist. In the clip, the two donned familiar-looking yellow masks, eliciting cheers from the crowd. By the fight’s end, both characters are covered in blood. In a separate clip, Davos’s fist appeared to light up–another tease for comics fans.

All of the footage shown seemed like a significant step up from Iron Fist Season 1, which famously did not receive a warm reception from most fans or critics, especially when compared with Netflix’s other Marvel shows. We’ll see if the entire new season maintains this heightened quality when Iron Fist Season 2 arrives on Netflix September 7.

San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Coverage

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting DLC based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild–and the great news is it’s free and it’s available right now. Update 1.6 for the racing game adds the Master Cycle Zero and the Champion’s Tunic from Breath of the Wild. Also included in the update are tires and a paraglider based on the acclaimed RPG.

The surprise announcement and release of this new Mario Kart 8 content comes just days after Nintendo teased more DLC for the racing game. At the time, Nintendo didn’t say anything about what the content would be, but now we now.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 9.22 million copies as of March 31, which makes it the second-most commercially successful game for the console, only behind Super Mario Odyssey (10.41 million copies sold).

The next Mario Kart game is Mario Kart: Tour for mobile devices. It will mark the franchise’s debut on mobile platforms, and given the size and appeal of the franchise, it could be Nintendo’s next big success story. The game is due to launch by March 2019.

Halo developer 343 Industries has no plans to introduce a battle royale mode in Halo 5 or Halo Infinite, it seems. Halo franchise manager Frank O’Connor said on Twitter that the studio is not currently working on a battle royale mode at all. That said, O’Connor pointed out that Halo 5’s Forge tools are absolutely robust enough to make a battle royale-style mode, though it wouldn’t be possible for it to contain 100 players like in PUBG or Fortnite.

“We are not currently working on a Battle Royale mode,” O’Conner said. “If you really want it, make a version in Customs with Elimination as a basis. Obviously it’ll be compromised in terms of size, but you can make something similar now.”

Indeed, a quick search of the Halo 5 custom map/mode database returns a number of different battle royale mode variants. But the difference here is that these are made by the community, and as mentioned do not support full 100-player battles.

In another tweet, O’Conner said he has “zero objection” to Battle Royale as a mode. He pointed out that Battle Royale has been around long before PUBG and Fortnite, though it is more “specific and focused” these days.

Some big-name games are jumping on the battle royale bandwagon, including Battlefield V and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which will have battle royale modes. Grand Theft Auto Online has had a battle mode for many months already.

All this talk about Halo having a battle royale mode appears to come back to writer Jeff Easterling, who said during a recent livestream that 343 isn’t interested in battle royale.

“I’ll tell you right now, the only BR we’re interested in is the Battle Rifle. The original BR. So calm yourself,” Easterling said, according to Destructoid.

Halo Infinite is the next game in the series. It was announced at E3 2018 through a trailer not for the game, but for the new engine that powers it. The game itself appears to still be a long time away. Halo Infinite will be free at launch for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

The Purge is an incredibly successful horror franchise that focuses on a world in which every year, for one night, all forms of crime are legal. There have been several Purge movies that focus on different aspects of the purge, but for the first time, USA and Syfy are developing a TV show based on the franchise, and we’re here to tell you all about it for Comic-Con.

What It’s About

The Purge TV series will follow several storylines as a few different characters do their best to survive the night. We don’t know too much about the plot at this point, but it seems share some themes about income inequality with the Purge movies.

What’s Been Released So Far

So far, a trailer has been released for The Purge TV show. The trailer shows a lot of the same kind of imagery used for the Purge movies, like creepy groups of people in masks and wealthy looking people safe and happy. It also gives a glimpse at the style that the show will use, following a few different, seemingly unconnected people during the purge. USA/Syfy also announced that the show will be 10 episodes long and released a few clips and photos on the show’s Twitter page.

What We Want At Comic-Con

The show will have a presentation at Comic-Con on Friday at 5:15 that will mostly focus on the TV series while also discussing a bit about The First Purge, the latest movie in the franchise. James DeMonaco and Jason Blum (Split) will attend, as well as some of the cast from the show.

We mostly want to know how the show will be different from the film franchise, since what’s been released so far hasn’t offered very much distinction between the two. We would also love to know more about the characters that will appear in the show. Hopefully we will get some more information about the show before at Comic-Con before its release on September 4, 2018.

After a kind of depressing first half of the fourth season of Fear the Walking Dead, fans are wondering if things are going to get better for the characters. AMC released the first teaser for the second half of the season at Comic-Con, and even though it doesn’t give away any plot details, it looks like the show is going to keep up with the dark tone that they’ve created.

The trailer opens with shots of a few different characters giving meaningful looks to something off-camera, before showing Alicia taking out two zombies at once; her zombie killing skills appear to be coming along nicely. There is also a brief glance at Morgan, who made the move from The Walking Dead to Fear The Walking Dead this season.

Since the purpose of showing multiple timelines seemed to be to explain the deaths in the season, it looks like AMC is done with that format, but we’re not sure at this point.

The loss of Nick and Madison is sure to shake things up for the tone of the show, but there are still plenty of threads for the writers follow. The second half of Season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead premieres August 12, 2018.

San Diego Comic-Con 2018 Coverage

Even more Breaking Bad characters are coming to the prequel show Better Call Saul, creator Vince Gilligan said during San Diego Comic-Con panel. While Breaking Bad‘s main characters Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) won’t show up in Better Call Saul Season 4, you might see them and other Breaking Bad characters later down the road.

“I think there’s an excellent chance of any and all these folks showing up [on Better Call Saul],” Gilligan said, referring to all the panelists (full list below). “You will not see Walt or Jesse in Season 4 of Better Call Saul, and not to be a downer, but just, we don’t like jerking folks around…but I would suspect we’d be sorely remiss if these characters didn’t appear on the show before it ended. But we love all these guys.”

The panelists included Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring), Betsy Brandt (Marie Schrader), Dean Norris (Hank Schrader), RJ Mitte (Walter Jr.), Anna Gunn (Skyler White), Bryan Cranston (Walter White), and Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman). Comedian Bill Burr, who appeared in several episodes of Breaking Bad, hosted the panel, while Aaron Paul’s baby was also on the panel. Given Gilligan’s comments, it’s possible you’ll see any and all of these characters show up on Better Call Saul in the future, but probably not Aaron Paul’s infant.

Paul suggested during that he’s pining for another chance to play Jesse. “I miss [Jesse]. I do. And I miss you all. I miss the show.” Odenkirk, who plays Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman intriguingly teased that it might be Breaking Bad‘s Hank Schrader who shows up first on Better Call Saul in a future episode. “Agent Schrader knows Saul, remember the first time they meet?…something happened–find out what it is!”

In addition to Goodman, Better Call Saul already features Breaking Bad characters Gus Fring and Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks).

Interestingly, Gilligan recently told EW that Better Call Saul Season 4 will feature some scenes set during the Breaking Bad timeline, so that could be a signal for Hank Schrader or another character to appear.

Finally, during the panel Cranston talked about the possibility of another Breaking Bad spinoff or potentially a reboot. The actor said he wants to leave Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul alone as they are.

“We’re all very proud of our show and Better Call Saul, and I think in some ways it’s best to leave it alone–that you want to think back on it favorably and say, ‘I don’t want to mess with it’. It was a perfect opportunity for all of us, it changed all of our lives, and this man on the end here…[Vince Gilligan] changed our lives for the better, and he is a brilliant storyteller. He guided us through.”
