Devil May Cry 5: Capcom is Aiming for a Consistent 60 fps

Capcom has shared more details on the upcoming Devil May Cry 5, saying it’s aiming for a consistent 60 frames per second.

According to an interview with the developer in Famitsu, via Silicon Era, while the goal for the team is photorealism combined with “tight Capcom play control”, hitting a consistent 60 fps is also a focus, to nail the high-speed combat associated with the series.

However, Capcom stated the photorealism graphics will affect the motion cancel mechanic, saying it would look strange and calling it “the uncanny valley of action.” As a result, players will still be able to input motion cancel in DMC 5, but it won’t skip the animation. The developers are continually trying to offset the new look of the game with gameplay responsiveness.

Relive the 1980s With These G1 Transformers Reissues

Walmart is going old-school, bringing generation 1 Transformers back from the 1980s and into the toy aisle later this year.

The US retailer announced Starscream, Hot Rod, a 6-figure Constructicon Devastator pack, and “Legion Class Figures” like Bumblebee and Outback.

As far as authenticity is concerned, the G1 Transformers reissues were made using “the original production tooling including die-cast parts and classic heat-sensitive stickers.” If you don’t recall, part of the fiction of the original toy line included spies whose allegiance could only be revealed by rubbing the sticker, revealing their Autobot or Decepticon badge.

The packaging, too, is a recreation of the original 1984 packaging, lending even more to the figures’ authenticity. However, the Starscream Vintage G1 figure comes with a “Megatron-style blaster” so you can “pose out in the iconic 1986 animated film scene.”

The Dark Knight 10th Anniversary Gets Special 70MM IMAX Release

To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. is bringing it to IMAX screens for one week only.

The Dark Knight will be screened across four select IMAX theatres in LA, New York, San Francisco and Toronto, with the aim to showcase its utilization of IMAX 70mm film and massive scale. Four of The Dark Knight’s major sequences were shot with IMAX cameras, including the Joker’s opening bank robbery, and Nolan has gone on to use IMAX cameras in his subsequent films.

Warner Bros. says the IMAX screening is intended to give the public a look at The Dark Knight as it was meant to be seen. Tickets for the opening day go on sale this Friday, July 20th. Showtimes are currently only announced for August 24th, but subsequent screening dates will be announced closer to release.

Dragon Ball FighterZ’s Next DLC Includes Base Goku and Base Vegeta

Bandai Namco has announced that Base Goku and Base Vegeta will be coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ early next month.

Silicon Era reports Base Goku and Base Vegeta will be added to Dragon Ball FighterZ’s roster in early August, joining their other iterations in game. The characters follow May’s Fused Zamasu and Super Saiyan Blue Vegito in DLC Pack 2.

For the past two decades, the WarioWare series has been Nintendo’s excuse to let its developers run wild and design some of its weirdest and creative concepts, and WarioWare Gold is no exception. Featuring a solid mix of over 300 new and returning microgames, WarioWare Gold is like a mixtape that showcases some of Nintendo’s most inventive yet extremely bizarre ideas, and it’s all held together by an even crazier story.

Along with the help of friends, Wario is out to make his fortune by setting up his own video game competition, which is fitting for a game that’s all about playing through a seemingly endless amount of lightening-fast experiences. Each of Wario’s friends offers their own set of microgames, each of which ends with a slightly longer, more challenging boss stage. While I didn’t get a chance to play through all 300 microgames, I can say that the 30 or so I played were incredibly fun and unique.

Marvel Digital Originals Kicks Off With New Jessica Jones Series

Marvel Comics are kicking off a new digital comics line called Marvel Digital Originals that will feature characters that are currently making a splash on television.

“There’s a huge audience out there — not just on the Netflix front but on ABC, Freeform, Hulu, etc. — that experience these characters digitally,” Marvel editor Nick Lowe told IGN over email. “In fact, it was hard not to notice when characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist were some of our biggest sellers in the digital marketplace. That was the inspiration for the Kaare Andrews/Afu Chan’s Iron Fists digital strategy and this next big step for us.”

The first new title to debut under the MDO label is Jessica Jones by writer Kelly Thompson (Hawkeye) and artist Mattia de Lulis (Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor), available for purchase online today. “Kelly was actually suggested by Brian Michael Bendis, co-creator of Jessica, when he was wrapping the previous volume because he was impressed by her depiction of Jessica in Hawkeye. And Mattia de Iulis had the slick neo-noir vibe the team was looking for,” Lowe said.

Watch MLB Players Do Fortnite Dances

First it was the World Cup, and now Fortnite has made an appearance at another high-profile sporting event. As part of the MLB All-Star game this week, Fox Sports got MLB All-Stars who play Fortnite to act out some of their favourite dances from the game.

Among the athletes shown in the video are George Springer of the Houston Astros, JD Martinez of the Boston Red Sox, and Jeremy Jeffress of the Milwaukee Brewers. Watch as they each act out dance emotes from Fortnite; it’s pretty great, though we do wonder how much further the Fortnite phenomenon in traditional sports and media can go before it’s just too much.

MLB players have been celebrating their on-field accomplishments in Fortnite style for a long time now, but the All-Star game is a higher-profile event which makes it more noteworthy. In May, Red Sox pitcher David Price caught some flak after some claimed his time spent playing Fortnite might have contributed to an injury that resulted in at least one missed start.

The Red Sox as a team are reportedly very into Fortnite. They play so much that they have to remind themselves to eat. They have the best record in all of baseball right now, so….

And in other Fortnite sports news, during the World Cup Final this week, French striker Antoine Griezmann performed the brutal, humiliating “L Dance” after scoring on a penalty.

As for Fortnite the game, Season 5 began last week–and it’s a big deal. The update changed the map significantly–among other things, it added a new area–while the storm circle now operates differently. The Equalizer 2 Review

Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer (released in 2014 and based on a mid-1980s TV series), remains, perhaps, the best Punisher feature film we’ll ever see. Robert McCall, as played by Denzel Washington, is a righteous vigilante with an implacable sense of righteousness, and no small amount talent when it comes to violent killing. McCall quietly works blue collar jobs, eats in modest local diners, and who is slowly working his way through the 100 best books in the Western Canon at the behest of a fallen wife. He even has a gimmick. When McCall charges into a room to do damage to a large number of Russian pimps and scumbags, he times himself via stopwatch as if he’s trying to beat his own record. Robert McCall is essentially a comic book superhero. It’s easy to see, then, why Washington and Fuqua would want to make The Equalizer 2, the first time either of them has made a sequel or reprised a character. Robert McCall must be a fun character to play and offers both the director and the actor a chance to present a heroic vigilante with both thrilling violence as well as actual moral indignation.

Destiny 2: Cayde-6 Actor Replaced For Next Expansion

One of the funniest, most lighthearted characters in the Destiny universe, Cayde-6, has been up until this point voiced by veteran TV and video game actor Nathan Fillion. But he isn’t coming back to voice Cayde-6 in Destiny 2: Forsaken, which could be the character’s final appearance in the Destiny series.

Fillion told Kotaku (via IGN) that he was not available to voice Cayde-6 in Destiny 2: Forsaken, presumably due to scheduling conflicts (he is a busy person). He also confirmed that he did not voice Cayde-6 in Forsaken’s E3 trailer.

Nolan North, who voices Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series among so many other roles, stepped in for Fillion to voice Cayde-6 in Forsaken. This is not the first time North has come in to voice a Destiny character after the original actor stepped aside. North was hired by Bungie to voice Ghost after Peter Dinklage bowed out, also reportedly due to scheduling conflicts.

Bungie told GamesRadar that Cayde-6 is absolutely, 100 percent dead in the events of Forsaken, so this means Fillion missed out on playing the character for his final appearance.

Maybe.

“How do I feel about Cayde-6? I absolutely love him. How do I feel about that character dying? I don’t personally believe it, because he’s a Guardian,” Fillion said. “He should be able to come back. I mean that’s their whole thing, is that they come back right? The whole thing is the resurrection.”

While Fillion is apparently done with Destiny, he’s still working on video game-related projects. He plays Nathan Drake in a wonderful Uncharted film that you can watch right here.

Destiny 2: Forsaken kicks off with the death of Cayde-6, leading the Guardians back to the Reef to fend off the latest threat. The DLC will also introduce a new Gambit mode, a hybrid of PvP and PvE.
