Call Of Duty: Warzone Players Have Lost Their XP Tokens

Call of Duty: Warzone players have been anticipating the big update that would bring the battle royale together with Treyarch’s Black Ops Cold War. However, many players were disappointed to find that the XP tokens they saved have been removed from Warzone completely.

“Did you guys notice that they took all our XP tokens from MW?” said Redditor IzNotorious. “I’ve been stacking them for a long time and I thought I could use them to level up my weapons in Cold War, only to notice that they took them all? Do you guys have the same problem?”

XP tokens help players level up faster by giving them double or triple the experience for a short period of time. Many players were saving them to level up the Black Ops Cold War weapons that were just added to Warzone. Now they’re finding that they can only be used in Modern Warfare’s multiplayer.

Many of these tokens were unlocked through leveling up the battle pass, which was shared between both Modern Warfare and Warzone. Players don’t understand why they’ve been removed and hope that Activision lets players use them in Warzone again. This is one example of the things players had been worried about before the update.

Call of Duty: Warzone received a huge update that includes a new map, a new limited-time mode, new weapons, new operators, and a whole new battle pass. You can check out the patch notes that include the new additions right here.

Wonder Woman 1984 Review: Even Better Than The Original

Wonder Woman 1984, aka WW84, is the sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman and the latest entry in the DCEU. The first movie was a refreshing addition to the DC Universe, and was well received by critics and fans. But Wonder Woman 1984 arrives very much in the tradition of the first film: earnestly celebratory, a blast to watch, and sorely needed.

WW84 picks up almost 70 years after its predecessor and finds Diana (Gal Gadot) living a reclusive life in Washington, DC. Joining the cast of characters this time are Barbara (Kristen Wiig), a new hire at the museum, and Max Lord (Pedro Pascal), a skeezy TV personality running a Ponzi scheme. And yes, we somehow get the return of Chris Pine’s character Steve Trevor.

Check out Mike’s review in the video above, as he explains why Wonder Woman 1984 is the perfect movie for this moment in time. And for the full score, read Mike’s review on GameSpot.

Here’s How To Watch The Smash Bros. Ultimate Sephiroth Stream

Sephiroth became the second Final Fantasy character to come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when he was announced at The Game Awards. Players can get a deeper look at him with game director Masahiro Sakurai’s special presentation on December 17.

The presentation will be on December 17 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET. Players can watch the 35-minute stream on Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch pages. Nintendo’s Facebook and Twitter feeds will be updated regularly with info from the stream if you’re unable to watch it live.

The stream will go into detail about Sephiroth’s mechanics and how they work in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sakurai will show live gameplay and will also reveal the One-Winged Angel’s release date. DLC characters regularly come with a dedicated stage and music, so we can expect that with Sephiroth once he is released.

The first batch of DLC characters for Ultimate has been completed, and Nintendo is now releasing characters as part of the Fighters Pass Vol 2. It has included Min Min from Arms and Steve from Minecraft. There will be six fighters in total as part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, which means there are still three more fighters to be revealed after Sephiroth. The pass costs $30 to buy, a slight savings from purchasing the characters for $6 apiece à la carte.

Best Games Of 2020 – Yakuza: Like A Dragon

Over the past week, we’ve been publishing features for what we’ve nominated to be the best games of 2020. On December 17, we will crown one of the nominees as GameSpot’s Best Game of 2020, so join us as we celebrate these 10 games on the road to the big announcement. Be sure to check out our other end-of-the-year coverage collected in our Best Games of 2020 hub.

For several years, those who followed the Yakuza franchise were captivated by the legend of Kazuma Kiryu. He’s been the driving force behind the series, even when he’s off-screen, but for as much as we love him, Yakuza 6 let us know it was time to move on. It’s not easy to follow up the story of a strong character who has become beloved over seven games, so Yakuza: Like a Dragon had a lot to live up to. Now, however, it’s hard to imagine the series without our new lead and best boy Kasuga Ichiban.

Like a Dragon isn’t just about winning the hearts and minds of long-time fans, it was also an opportunity to show newcomers what Yakuza has always been about, and inviting them to enjoy it without having to wonder where to start or if they should play previous entries (I mean, they should, but still). That’s certainly a reason why Like a Dragon landed on GameSpot’s 10 best games of 2020–folks without prior knowledge were able to jump into the wild mix of gripping drama and absurdist humor and get the full Yakuza experience. But Like A Dragon is so much more than just a convenient entry point for newcomers.

Ichiban’s role as the new main character gives Yakuza a fresh start but, more importantly, he’s an immediately lovable person. He’s a kid at heart, motivated to become a hero just like in his favorite game series Dragon Quest. Although he’s loud and naive, Ichiban always means well. He just wants to be loved and give back to people. In demeanor, it’s like he’s the polar opposite of Kiryu, but what is common among them both is that heart of gold.

One of Yakuza’s strongest assets is melodramatic storytelling that ropes you in and has you gripped from beginning to end. And Like a Dragon has it all–alliances and betrayals, shifts in power, adversaries becoming trusted allies, warmth and heartbreak, and the determination to fight for what you care about most. There’s a tangled web of relationships between street gangs and the organizations that operate above them, with some real heinous crimes taking place. It’s a fascinating backdrop that allows you to peer into the hearts and minds of its characters–for better and for worse.

Once the goofiness starts to settle in, you find that this game has a big heart, and just like how Ichiban grew throughout his journey, Like a Dragon proves that the series did as well.

Like a Dragon also leans harder into a broader human element that the series had only touched on in the past. As ridiculous as the action gets and as goofy as Ichiban’s imagination can be, there are moments that ground the story with an earnest empathy for marginalized folks in Japanese society. The acceptance and normalization of sex work is a core theme, but also understood as a byproduct of working class burdens. Korean and Chinese characters aren’t just used as villains anymore–Like a Dragon takes time to contextualize their struggles as immigrants in Japan, to show a bit of their culture and provide another lens for what it means to be an outcast.

Like a Dragon is a story about what it’s like to come from nothing, too. It puts homelessness in a more humanizing light and central to your understanding of Yakuza’s world rather than something in the periphery that a few characters face. There are impactful moments like Ichiban’s early naivete about pulling yourself up by the bootstraps being met with the reality that people’s circumstances can be wholly out of their control, and that it doesn’t make them any lesser of a person. Ultimately, what you have is a rare JRPG about adulthood.

But this being a Yakuza game, it is just as much about its outlandish humor. The goofs, puns, jokes, and utterly ridiculous situations that the crew finds themselves in lead to genuine laugh out loud moments. For as over the top as they may be, many characterizations are also charming and endearing. The way enemies transform into silly caricatures or possessed beings as if cosplaying as evil foes, and the way your team transforms into their own “job” (effectively a character class) is often hilarious, making perfect sense given the explanation and yet no sense at all in light of the world it is happening within–you just accept it because it both works and is a brilliant concept.

It’s the kind of cleverness with adding a touch of fantasy that lets you have such a bombastic turn-based combat system. While the action-brawler style of previous games had a penchant for extreme irreverence, the whimsical child-like nature of Ichiban draws you into the spells, attacks, and flourishes of the game’s battles. It’s a strategically engaging system that moves at a brisk pace and truly challenges you at key moments, all while channeling that pure, often chaotic, Yakuza energy.

The wealth of side content is another Yakuza staple that Like a Dragon nails–Dragon Kart racing, the business management sim, spending time with your friends, collecting cans for money, fighting off sheep to stay awake in a movie theater, and, of course, karaoke. These build out the city of Ijincho, Yokohama, but provide different and enticing ways to engage with the game world and its characters. And most of all, the iconic substories populate every street corner, further making it feel like a dense city filled with quirky characters and interesting–often bizarre–things to do.

One of the biggest things that sets Like a Dragon apart is its emphasis on the people who accompany Ichiban. As with most RPGs, the game gives you a party to have these awesome turn-based fights, but their influence and personalities are also what make Ichiban who he is. Saeko, Nanba, Adachi, and a few others who join (no spoilers) have their own motivations for sticking with Ichiban, but eventually, it’s the fact that they have each other’s backs that takes them to the top. You have heartwarming moments of sharing personal stories over whiskey, and dire situations where selflessness gets others out of trouble, too. Even outside the party dynamic, this is a game about the power of friendship made manifest, and how those bonds drive us to go beyond what we envision for ourselves.

It was a bit tough to think of where the franchise could go after Yakuza 6 and Judgment (which was a great spinoff). Like a Dragon charts a new and exciting path for Yakuza because it captures what so many of us love about the series, yet takes them to new heights by exploring more affecting themes. For RGG Studio’s first RPG, it’s an impressive switch in gameplay that has paid off in a big way. And, as always, its world is brimming with hilarity and fun activities. Once the goofiness starts to settle in, you find that this game has a big heart, and just like how Ichiban grew throughout his journey, Like a Dragon proves that the series did as well.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 Patch Notes Revealed

Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has officially begun. As part of its first season, a wealth of new content is now live in Cold War, as well as Warzone, including new weapons, maps, modes, and more. Developer Treyarch has outlined all the new additions in its Season 1 patch notes, which you can learn more about below.

On the Warzone side, the new Rebirth Island map is now available. This stage is much smaller and denser than the game’s Verdansk map, supporting up to 40 players and emphasizing close-range firefights. Alongside the map, a Rebirth Island seasonal event is also now live. It includes 16 new challenges that will net you calling cards, charms, emblems, the Noxious LMG blueprint, and other rewards.

Rebirth Island also features a new mode: Resurgence. Here, the gulag is disabled, and eliminated players will respawn every 30 seconds until the match reaches the final circle or only one team remains. On top of that, killing enemy players will reveal where the rest of their teammates are currently located.

Cold War has received a handful of new Multiplayer maps as well, including The Pines and the festive Nuketown ’84 Holiday. Gunfight has also been added to the game alongside four mode-specific maps (Game Show, ICBM, U-Bahn, and KGB), while Zombies mode gets a holiday-themed Jingle Hells mode.

Beyond that, a new Operator has been added to the game: Vikhor “Stitch” Kuzmin. You can unlock him at tier 0 of the Season 1 battle pass, and he comes with two Operator Missions that will get you four Operator skins, as well as calling cards, emblems, and XP. A variety of other new items are also available to unlock via the battle pass, including two guns: the Mac-10 and the Groza.

With the start of Season 1, Black Ops Cold War and Warzone progression have now been merged. Everything you unlock can be used in both Cold War and Warzone; however, Modern Warfare Double XP tokens are no longer compatible with Warzone, which has led to some outcry from fans. Progression systems have been reset in all three titles as well, meaning players are back at level 1. The Cold War weapons have also been causing numerous issues in Warzone.

Developer Treyarch promises that even more content is on the way as the season progresses, including daily challenges, additional game modes, and more. You can check out the full patch notes for Black Ops Cold War’s Season One update below.

Wrong Turn Reboot Trailer Delivers Backwoods Scares

The survival slasher movie Wrong Turn hit theaters back in 2003, and while it was only a modest box office success, it managed to spawn no fewer than five sequels over the next decade. It’s been six years since the last entry, 2014’s Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort, but the series is about to get a reboot. The first trailer for the next movie–simply titled Wrong Turn–has now been released.

The set up is familiar stuff if you’ve seen any of the previous entries. A group of kids are hiking in some remote mountainous woodland and take–you got it–a wrong turn. They find themselves at the mercy of a group of deranged backwoods killers–in this case, a gang calling themselves the Foundation. The trailer doesn’t exactly suggest the film will be breaking any new ground, but it’ll hopefully deliver the required amount of thrills and kills. Check it out below:

Wrong Turn is directed by Mike P. Nelson and written by Alan B. McElroy, who created the series. It stars Charlotte Vega (Warrior Nun), Adain Bradley (Riverdale), Bill Sage (Hap and Leondard), Emma Dumont (The Gifted), Daisy Head (Underworld: Blood Wars), and Matthew Modine (Stranger Things).

The film will premiere in theaters for one night only, on January 26, 2021. Tickets can be booked here from January 8. It’ll then receive a digital release, although its on demand release date has not been announced yet.

Wrong Turn isn’t the only popular slasher franchise getting a new entry in 2021. Halloween Kills hits theaters in October, and the ninth Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie is on the way too. In addition, the fifth Scream film, titled Scream, will be with us in January 2022.

New On Disney+ In January 2021: WandaVision, More Star Wars, And Original Shows

A new year is almost upon us, and that means we’ll all spend the first few weeks accidentally writing “2020” instead of “2021” on everything. Luckily, you can distract yourself from that upcoming mistake by watching new movies, TV shows, and original programming on Disney+. Here’s what’s coming in January 2020… I mean January 2021.

Kicking off the month, another Marvel movie heads to Disney+. 2013’s The Wolverine makes its way to the service, and while 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a bad film, the follow-up is worth checking out. The film follows Logan as he heads to Japan, loses his healing ability, and has to deal with the Yakuza. And the best part is… no “Deadpool.”

On January 15, everyone will be tuning into Disney+ to check out the first episode of the MCU’s newest series WandaVision. There haven’t been details for individual episodes, but the series will follow Scarlet Witch and Vision as they live together in some sort of bizarre sitcom with exceptionally dark undertones. The first trailer for the series was revealed in December, and the show looks very good.

While the second season of The Mandalorian comes to a close in December, there is another Star Wars show hitting Disney+ in January–one that’s already aired on television though. On January 8, four volumes of Star Wars Forces of Destiny arrive. The animated series consists of shorts starring some of the women from across the galaxy: Rey, Princess Leia, Sabine Wren, Padmé Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, and more.

Below, you’ll find everything headed to Disney+ in the new year. For more info on streaming services, check out what’s coming to Hulu for January, and how you can watch The Office on Netflix, even after the show leaves the streaming service in America.

Win A PS5 In The Fortnite Generations Cup

If you don’t have a PlayStation 5 yet, playing Fortnite might actually be your best chance at getting one. Developer Epic Games announced that it will be awarding PS5 consoles to some of those that compete in the upcoming Generations Cup. This solo tournament kicks off on December 18 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET and is exclusive to players on Sony consoles, so players on other platforms won’t be able to enter.

It still won’t be easy getting a PS5 from Fortnite, though. Despite partnering with PlayStation for the event, only one PS5 will be given out to the winner of each region. That equals out to seven PS5s being sent out in total. The participating regions are categorized as Europe, North America East, North America West, Brazil, Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East.

Even if you don’t win a PS5, Epic is offering consolation prizes. Players who rank high enough in the Generations Cup will be able to get the Indigo Kuno Outfit and Indigo Kama Back Bling. In North America, that means coming in at least the top 1,500 players if you’re in the NA East server. Those on the west coast will have to be one of the top 600 players. The qualifications for all regions are listed in the official rules.

As for the fine print, Epic tells players that they must have 2-Factor Authentication enabled on their Epic account and have an account level of 30 in order to be eligible. Epic will get in touch with the highest-scoring player in each region via email within two weeks of the tournament ending. Players will then have 45 days to respond or they will lose out on their shot at getting a PS5 and no alternate winner will be named.

If you don’t win a PS5 this way, you can always check GameSpot’s PS5 restock updates for your best shot at grabbing one.

You Can Still Watch The Office On Netflix In 2021, As Long As You Have A VPN

The final day of 2020 is going to be a bummer for fans of The Office. The hit NBC show is leaving Netflix and headed to Peacock–NBCUniversal’s streaming service. However, the series will remain on Netflix outside of the US, so if you have access to a VPN, you have nothing to worry about.

While the rights for The Office in the Unites States mean the show is moving to Peacock, The series will come to Netflix in the UK and Ireland in January. So if subscribers across the pond want something other than Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s original series, they have a lot more to check out.

If you live in the United States, don’t have access to Peacock–which does have a free, ad-supported tier–and you need more Nard Dog in your life, you can still watch The Office, as long as you have access to a VPN.

However, there are some pretty interesting plans for The Office on Peacock. The series arrives on the streaming service on January 1, and creator Greg Daniels has announced some cool extras. There will be new footage from the original filming available to watch for the very first time. There will be the option to watch the original or extended cuts of certain episodes, but this will be for Season 4 only at first.
