Warframe’s Big Sister of Parvos Update Is Now Live

Warframe’s big new Sister of Parvos update is now live on all platforms, and it adds a lot of new content to the game. The update adds a new antagonist in the form of the titular Sisters of Parvos, who are elite hunters who will track you down and take you out if you aren’t careful. Check out the trailer here.

You have to follow a precise series of events to eliminate the Sister that will pursue you once and for all, including eliminating the mechanized Hound that accompanies her. You can choose to kill her in order to obtain her loot, or you can convert her to your side in order to get her as a crew member on your Railjack.

The Sisters of Parvos each have one of eight new weapons, so you’ll have to grind hard if you want to get them all. This update also adds a new Warframe to the game in the form of the water-themed Yareli, who you can research after obtaining her main blueprint from challenges in the Orb Vallis. She rides a very cool bone fish called Merulina, who can also absorb incoming damage.

The update also streamlines the ways that players can confront Kuva Liches, which will make grinding for their loot that much easier. You can now revert your Kubrow or Kavat to their juvenile state with an option on your incubator, so that will give you more options on how to build your companions. For more details on the update, check out the blog post on Warframe’s website.

Watch Dogs Legion Comic Book Will Expand on the Game’s Universe

Ubisoft has joined forces with publisher Behemoth Comics to release a new series of comics based on iconic gaming franchises like Watch Dogs. IGN can exclusively reveal the first of these books, a limited series that spins directly out of 2020’s Watch Dogs Legion.

Also titled Watch Dogs Legion, this four-issue series is designed to operate as a standalone story while still focusing on the resistance organization known as DedSec and the conflicts of the game. The series is written by Sylvain Runberg (The Girl Who Danced With Death) and drawn by Gabriel Germain (Silencio). Germain and Alberto Massaggia will both provide covers for the series.

Get a closer look at the cover art for Watch Dogs Legion #1 in the slideshow gallery below:

Here’s Behemoth’s official summary for the series:

London Calling! Mass surveillance, private militias bringing order to the streets, organized crime… the city of London has become a symbol of widespread oppression, and only its people can free it. A resistance movement bringing together genius hackers and insurgents ready for combat, DedSec stands up to free the city from the yoke of these profiteers. While investigating mysterious disappearances in Kennington Oval Camp, journalist Louise Hartford will cross paths with Adam Logan, known as “Spiral”, a London DJ whose music has become a symbol of revolt. Together, and with other companions in misfortune, they will have to infiltrate the spheres of power to unravel the truth.

Look for Watch Dogs Legion #1 to hit stores on November 3, 2021.

IGN’s Dan Stapleton gave the Watch Dogs Legion game an 8 when it released in 2020, saying, “Watch Dogs Legion takes Ubisoft’s open-world hacker series in an interesting new direction by letting you swap between the inhabitants of a near-future London almost at will. There’s enough variety in the way different characters play to make that a good tradeoff for not having one traditionally progressing character with a fleshed-out personality, and playing with permadeath enabled ratchets up the tension of infiltrating heavily guarded areas. On top of that, the map is detailed and loaded with environmental puzzles to solve with a little help from your drones. Legion is technically a little rough, but its sandbox-style approach is a good idea that sets Watch Dogs’ moment-to-moment gameplay even further apart from the GTA series.”

Legion is getting new content in 2021, including a “Performance Mode” for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions and a zombie-themed expansion dubbed “Legion of the Dead.”

Just Cause Dev Explains Why It’s Bringing New Game Contraband To Xbox Game Pass

Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios is bringing its next game, Contraband, to Xbox Game Pass on day one, and now the studio has elaborated more on that decision.

CEO Pim Holfve told GI.biz that it “made a lot of sense” to work with Xbox on the game “because of the grandness of [the project].” He added, “It’s not a concept we would pitch to every publisher.”

Now Playing: Contraband Cinematic Trailer | Xbox + Bethesda E3 2021

Not much is known about Contraband, but we do know it’s a multiplayer title of some sort. Part of the appeal of working with Xbox, and bringing the game to Game Pass, is that doing so gives Contraband a potentially massive audience on day one.

“Our main key objective is growing our userbase… even if it’s not ours directly–in this case, it’s going to be Xbox’s,” Holfve said. “But we know that if we grow the userbase, we know that the money and revenue will come. The main motivator for us as a company is not cash, it’s entertainment–we’re entertaining vast numbers of people.”

Avalanche already put Just Cause 3 and 4 on Game Pass, in addition to The Hunter: Call of the Wild. In the case of the hunting game, Holfve observed that Xbox Game Pass was “fantastic” for the title–which is self-published by Avalanche–and that it helped the game reach “so many more players.”

Contraband doesn’t have a release date yet, and Holfve wasn’t ready to share any insight on how long fans will have to wait to play it. He did say, however, that the announcement trailer at Xbox’s E3 showcase had “a lot of clues,” so fans may want to dig in and poke around.

Contraband is set in the 1970s in the fictional country of Bayan. The announcement trailer used Steely Dan’s “Do It Again,” which debuted in the early ’70s.

In related news, Microsoft just recently announced some of the games coming to Xbox Game Pass in July and those that are leaving this month.

Succession Season 3 Teaser: Roy Family Still Just Can’t Get Along

HBO has released a new trailer for the highly-anticipated Season 3, which will finally air sometime this fall on HBO Max. Given this new clip, fans will be in for a treat when the new season finally hits the streaming service.

In a little over a minute, a rapid-fire series of snippets demonstrates how each and every member of the dysfunctional Roy family, which runs the global media and hospitality empire Waystar RoyCo–are done being two-faced behind each other’s backs. As the future of the corporation stands in wavering balance during an all-out war, new calculating alliances are coldly suggested. For some reason, Sarah Snook’s character Siobhan literally spits into a book. Logan can’t even muster a coherent insult against his dad. The clip is much better to watch than read about, so check it out below.

Thankfully, all of the show’s regular actors will be returning this season, including Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen, J. Smith-Cameron, and Snook. This season looks to pick up directly after Strong’s character Roy betrayed his faith, Cox’s Logan, by staging a coup for control at a press conference where he was supposed to take the fall for company misdeeds.

Succession is co-executive produced by showrunner Jesse Armstrong, who won seven Emmys for the show’s second season, including Outstanding Drama. Also among the executive producers is Adam McKay, who is working to adapt the Oscars hit Parasite into another HBO series.

Tom Hardy Spent ‘Months’ Brainstorming Narrative For Venom 2, Will Get Story Credit

Venom star, Tom Hardy, spent months brainstorming the narrative for Venom 2 and he’ll be rewarded for his contributions with a “Story By” credit.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is the official title for the sequel to 2018’s Venom and it will star Hardy once again in the role of Eddie Brock. Leading up to the sequel, Hardy spent months brainstorming story ideas and this film will give Hardy his first-ever feature film writing credit.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/05/10/venom-let-there-be-carnage-official-trailer-1-au”]

“This is new for him, to get credit, but it’s not new for him to be this involved” Venom and Venom 2 screenplay writer, Kelly Marcel, told Empire Online. “He’s absolutely 100% committed to everything that he does.”

Empire reports that Marcel and Hardy’s working relationship goes back nearly 20 years. Marcel says he’s never been the type of person to just grab a pen and simply start writing. She said the two of them spent “months breaking the story together on FaceTime, riffing on ideas, seeing what worked, seeing what didn’t.”

“Then, I took everything we spoke about and holed up somewhere for three months quietly, knocking out a script,” Marcel said.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”slug=venom-let-there-be-carnage-easter-eggs&captions=true”]

Marcel will get the sole “Screenplay” credit, but Empire says that both she and Hardy will receive a “Story By” credit. Empire writes that it’s fitting Hardy’s first feature film story credit is for Venom: Let There Be Carnage as Marcel said “he’s married to Venom” and “very involved in what he thinks should happen.”

Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits theaters on September 24, 2021. While waiting for it to release, check out the first official trailer and then read about how Venom 2’s title may be teasing a secret villain. Also check out this story about how Venom: Let There Be Carnage apparently has an Avengers easter egg in it and then read IGN’s breakdown of Shriek.

Ubisoft Starting Game Dev Studio In Sydney, According To Job Listings

It seems Ubisoft is preparing to ramp up its game development divisions, as a series of new job posts suggest a Sydney-based studio is set to open.

Ubisoft posted 12 new openings on its jobs portal, all of which are based in Sydney, Australia. According to Screen Hub, offices in the Australian region specialize in sales, marketing, and distribution. However, it’s looking like Ubisoft may want to tap the creative talent in the country. The listings suggest this Sydney studio will work on some online multiplatform AAA title.

The senior core engineer, for example, is someone that will work on “a new multiplatform AAA project.” Meanwhile, the gameplay engineer will collaborate with the company’s San Francisco office to “create fun experiences” while working with a “cohesive online game team.”

Furthermore, Ubisoft may be prioritizing realism with this Sydney-based studio. The senior animator will emphasize “realistic physics with character movement and motivation through acting.” As will the environment artist, who will be in charge of creating “a multiplayer game in a realistic setting.”

According to each job listing, Ubisoft’s Sydney office currently “comprises of 29 people” dedicated to bringing games to the Australian market via distribution, finance, marketing, operations, sales, and now, game development. The company wrote that the culture in the office is “unique and vibrant”

We’ve reached out to Ubisoft and will update this post should we hear back.

Fast And Furious Family Memes Are Taking Over The Internet

There are three things you can count on in life: death, taxes, and Vin Diesel saving the day with the power of family. July isn’t even a week old and the hottest meme of the year is riding in hot thanks to the global success of Fast 9, as the latest film in the Fast & Furious series once again mixes outlandish stunts with a message of family bonding. It’s a theme that might be starting to wear thin with fans, as they’ve taken to social media and forums to have some fun with Vin Diesel’s character of Dom Toretto and how he can seemingly break the very laws of physics when a loved one is in danger.

No matter the movie, video game, or even anime, there’s nothing that family can’t solve according to these memes.

In case you missed it, Fast 9 isn’t just a ridiculously fun high note for the entire Fast Saga series but also a great excuse to venture back into cinemas. You can read more about the film in our Fast 9 review, or if you feel like mulling over some conspiracy theories then you can check out why Dom never mentioned his brother John Cena in the last eight films or what the mid-credits scene might mean for the final film in the franchise.

Black Widow: Watch The “Prison Break” Clip From The MCU Movie

Marvel’s next big movie, Black Widow, opens in theaters and on Disney Plus with Premier Access this Friday, July 9, but you don’t need to wait until then to get a glimpse at the film.

Marvel has published a minute-long clip from the movie that shows Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) and Yelena (Florence Pugh) helping David Harbour’s character, Alexei Shostakov, break out of prison. “A family that plans a prison escape together, stays together ❤️,” reads a line from the clip’s description.

Natasha and Yelena are hovering above the prison in a helicopter, giving Alexei instructions on what to do next to get free. The odds don’t look good, and this clip unfortunately ends before the pivotal moment. Alexei uses his super strength to climb the walls of the prison, set in a frozen landscape, but he gets zapped by a guard and falls crashing down back onto the prison floor.

For more, check out GameSpot’s Black Widow review and review scores from across the internet. You can also check out GameSpot’s primer below to find out how to stream Black Widow this Friday from the comfort of your couch:

“Despite strong performances from the leads and the addition of a couple of welcome new characters who may spice up the MCU’s future, this Natasha side story has plenty of inherent problems that drag it down regardless of any external factors,” GameSpot’s Michael Rougeau said in his Black Widow review.

Netflix’s Transformers War for Cybertron: Kingdom Trailer Delivers Beast Wars Action

The full trailer for Transformers: War for Cybertron: Kingdom is here. The third and final part of Netflix’s animated Transformers series releases on July 29.

As teased last month, War for Cybertron: Kingdom introduces characters from the popular Beast Wars spin-off. Optimus Prime and the Autobots are in a race against the evil Decepticons to locate the missing AllSpark. The chase leads them to an ancient planet inhabited by dinosaurs–and the Predacons and Maximals, the two warring factions from Beast Wars. It looks like another stylishly animated adventure, that should keep fans happy while they wait for next live-action Transformers movie. Check the trailer out below:

Transformers: War for Cybertron: Kingdom is a six episode series. It follows War for Cybertron: Siege, which was released in July last year, and War for Cybertron: Earthrise, which followed in December.

Even though this series is about to end, there’s lots more Transformers on the way. The next movie is titled Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts, and as the title suggests, it will also feature Beast Wars characters. It’s currently in production ahead of a June 2022 release and is directed by Creed II’s Steven Caple Jr.

There’s also another live-action movie, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, in development, plus a new animated series, which is being produced by Nickelodeon. In February, it was reported that it will be a 26-episode “action-comedy series” that focuses on a new species of transforming robots.
