Where to Preorder PS5 Games

Now we finally know all there is to know about the PS5 release date and price point, it might be high time to look at what games there actually are to play on the new console. Various retailers are currently accepting preorders for PS5 games, so let’s take a look at what’s available right now.

We’ve also included a few PS4 games along the way, as several titles, including the likes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, and FIFA 21, will auto-upgrade for free when you move onto a PS5. These PS4 games are also very often cheaper than their PS5 counter-part, so don’t skip out if you can.

If you haven’t managed to snag a preorder just yet, keep an eye on our dedicated PS5 preorder page where we will provide you with all the relevant details.

PS5 Games Ready to Preorder at Amazon

Amazon is tried, tested, and a very reliable way to preorder games for the PS5. Right now the retailer has several listings for the most anticipated titles releasing on the upcoming console, including the launch game Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The Ultimate Edition is $69.99 and includes the full game, alongside Spider-Man PS4 with a massive graphical overhaul perfect for the PS5’s slick set of visuals.

Apple Watch Series 6 Is Already on Sale

Apple Watch Series 6 just came out, but Amazon already has it on sale for $15 off. That’s not a massive price cut, but it’s nice to see the latest in wearable technology get a discount essentially right out of the gate. And if you’re not looking to spend quite so much, you can also save $30 on an Apple Watch Series 3.

Here are the deals.

Apple Watch Series 6 Deals

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=apple-watch-series-6-deals”]

Apple Watch Series 6 comes in black, silver, blue, gold, and Product(RED) editions, though unfortunately the awesome blue one isn’t included in the sale. I guess it’s too good-looking to get a discount quite yet.

Series 6 sports a new processor that makes it up to 20% faster than the Series 5, says Apple. The biggest addition to the new model is a sensor that monitors your blood oxygen levels. It also has an improved always-on display that’s 2.5 times brighter than in the 5.

It hasn’t lost any tech in the upgrade, so it has all the sensors and features of the Series 5, including ECG, fall detection, and fitness tracking. It comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes.

Apple Watch Series 3 Deals

[poilib element=”commerceDeal” parameters=”slug=apple-watch-series-3-deals-june-2020″]

Apple is keeping Apple Watch Series 3 in the lineup as the most affordable option. It normally sells for $199, but Amazon has it on sale for $30 off right now. Honestly, it has many of the features of the Series 6 .

For those who want something in between, you can grab an Apple Watch SE on Amazon for its MSRP of $279. That’s not a sale price, but considering the features, it’s a good deal anyway. Spec-wise, it’s similar to the Apple Watch Series 5, but notably it doesn’t have an always-on screen.

All of these models support the new WatchOS 7 operating system, which has a number of new features. It now has a Sleep app that you can use to create a bedtime routine and track your sleep. It has new watch faces and workouts. It even has hand washing detection, so it can set a 20-second timer when it notices you begin washing your hands. No more germs.

Have the X-Men Already Existed in the MCU?

The MCU is spilling over onto Disney+ in Phase 4, with WandaVision poised to become the first of many live-action series that flesh out this ever-growing universe. The first WandaVision trailer is jam-packed with plenty of Easter eggs and neat references to Marvel’s comics, but perhaps none cooler than a subtle nod to House of M, one of the most important X-Men stories of all time.

In the trailer, a noteworthy Easter egg is a bottle of wine with an “M” that is reminiscent of the House of M comics logo. And if we translate the name of the wine, “Maison du Mepris,” it comes out to “House of Mepris” or “House of Contempt.” This seems like a clear reference to House of M!

In the past we’ve explored the many ways Marvel Studios could begin introducing mutants during Phase 4, but this might be our first tangible clue as to how that process will unfold. Is WandaVision’s House of M teaser a herald of things to come? Is it a sign the X-Men already exist in the MCU? Let’s explore the evidence.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/wandavision-trailer-confirms-this-is-the-mcus-house-of-m”]

WandaVision: What Is House of M?

House of M is an X-Men/Avengers crossover from 2005, written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by Olivier Coipel. Essentially, the series explores what happens when an out-of-control Scarlet Witch is manipulated into changing reality so that mutants, not humans, are the dominant race on Earth. In the House of M reality, Magneto reigns supreme, the Avengers are either reluctant collaborators or underground rebels and Wolverine is the only hero who remembers the world as it ought to be.

As always happens in these cases, reality is eventually restored to normal, but not without some lasting repercussions. Readers eventually learn it was Wanda’s brother Quicksilver, not her father Magneto, who compelled her to create the House of M. Magneto kills Quicksilver in a rage, which causes a distraught Wanda to declare, “No more mutants.”

When the world returns to normal, the X-Men quickly discover Wanda has all but completely erased the mutant gene from existence. Only 198 mutants remain across the entire world, with even heavy-hitters like Magneto and Professor X rendered powerless.

[poilib element=”quoteBox” parameters=”excerpt=When%20the%20world%20returns%20to%20normal%2C%20the%20X-Men%20quickly%20discover%20Wanda%20has%20all%20but%20completely%20erased%20the%20mutant%20gene%20from%20existence.”]

Did the MCU’s X-Men Vanish?

There’s little reason to assume Marvel Studios is building toward a direct adaptation of the House of M storyline in the MCU. There’s no direct confirmation mutants even exist in the MCU, so what would be the point in building a movie around the mutant race being decimated by Scarlet Witch’s powers? However, the House of M Easter egg does tease the possibility of Wanda’s magical powers being tied to the absence of the X-Men.

Many fans have speculated that mutants already exist in the MCU, but their presence is being masked somehow. Perhaps Professor X used his telepathic powers to make the world forget about mutants? But the House of M tease in the trailer could suggest Wanda was instead the culprit. What if the X-Men were once an active super-team in the MCU? What if they saved the world many times, only to be wiped out of existence in some sort of House of M-inspired clash with an unstable Scarlet Witch? In this version, the mutant gene isn’t just eliminated; every person in the world has now forgotten mutants ever existed in the first place.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=how-the-mcus-phase-4-could-introduce-the-x-men&captions=true”]

If so, this would be a quick solution for introducing the X-Men into the MCU. If Wanda comes to her senses and remembers the crimes she committed against mutantkind, maybe she can cast a new spell to undo that damage and restore the X-Men. That restoration could come at the end of WandaVision, or perhaps later on when Wanda returns in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She may need the Sorcerer Supreme’s help to hone her abilities and undo this terrible magical crime.

Obviously, Marvel hasn’t introduced the X-Men before now because they didn’t have the rights. Only with Disney’s purchase of 21st Century Fox have the rights returned and the door opened for mutants in the MCU. The advantage of drawing from House of M and revealing the X-Men to be forgotten heroes from an earlier era is that Marvel Studios won’t have to waste time establishing the team and recycling the same origin stories fans already know from the Fox movies. They can simply move forward and begin working the (no doubt recast with new actors) X-Men into the fabric of the post-Endgame MCU.

Making Scarlet Witch the Hero

Another intriguing possibility here is that Scarlet Witch will be positioned as the hero of this House of M-inspired conflict rather than the misguided villain she was in the comics story. What if another spell-caster was responsible for erasing mutants from existence? Perhaps there are other witches in the MCU who viewed mutants and their innate biological powers as a threat and wiped that threat off the board? There are certainly supernatural Marvel villains we could picture being behind a crime like that – Morgan le Fay, Selene, even Doctor Doom. And in the case of Doom, it’s worth remembering he was eventually revealed to be the secret mastermind behind House of M in the comics (and he’s also a Fox character who Disney now has the movie rights to as well).

Many Marvel readers criticized House of M for causing what they viewed as long-term damage to Scarlet Witch by making her the cause of widespread death and suffering. She’s since been redeemed, more or less, but for many mutants the pain of M-Day and their hatred of Wanda still lingers.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=the-evolution-of-scarlet-witch-and-the-visions-relationship-in-the-comics&captions=true”]

Marvel Studios has already shown a track record of side-stepping the more unsavory qualities of its heroes. For example, Tony Stark’s alcoholism was never a huge issue, and Hank Pym (as far as we know) was never guilty of hitting his wife. This may be another case where the MCU tweaks the source material to avoid damaging a popular hero’s reputation.

Wanda may not turn out to be the cause of the X-Men’s disappearance, but instead the catalyst that brings them back. At this point we don’t know what villain Wanda and Vision will clash with in the Disney+ series, assuming there’s a traditional villain at all. Wanda is probably her own worst enemy at the moment. But some fans have speculated Kathryn Hahn’s “nosy neighbor” character Agnes may be a witch herself, which could make her the show’s main antagonist. (Fans are also speculating “Agnes” may actually be Agatha Harkness, the witch who helped teach Wanda how to master her magical powers in the comics.)

As Wanda learns more about her powers and the history of magic in the MCU, it may fall on her to undo a great crime and bring the X-Men back. Who better than the character who’s always bridged the gap between the X-Men and Avengers?

The Game Awards December Premiere Date Revealed

The Game Awards are set to return this year on December 10. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be a live audience this year, but host Geoff Keighley announced that this year’s awards show will be hosted from three international locations: Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo.

The Game Awards will be hosted live on Thursday, December 10, 2020, as a digital livestream. The annual awards show hosted and founded by Geoff Keighley honors some of the best games of the year and are also where games receive new trailers or premieres.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=confirmed-xbox-series-x-games&captions=true”]

In past years, The Game Awards were hosted live in Los Angeles in front of an audience. However, the coronavirus pandemic has caused The Game Awards to take a different approach this year. Instead, the show will air live from studio locations in Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo.

The Game Awards are still promising awards presentations, musical performances, and new game announcements.

Speaking with IGN, however, Keighley says “It’s too early to talk about world premieres for the show this year, but we’re in discussions now with all the publishers and developers of this year’s lineup,” Keighley says. “We’re looking forward to a big night of announcements and surprises for the fans.”

Regarding the new three host city structure, Keighley says The Game Awards hopes to make the three locations feel connected.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=confirmed-playstation-5-games&captions=true”]

“The biggest challenge is coordinating three different hub cities versus just one,” Keighley explained. “Our goal is to make everything feel interconnected and unite the world around video games. It’s challenging but also exciting to bring the show to more cities. I’ve long had the dream of hosting The Game Awards in other locations.”

Check out The Games Awards on December 10 and IGN which will cover the show and all the updates live.

Untitled Goose Game Co-Op Update Is Now Live

Like a horrible goose stealing your hat and throwing it in a lake, the co-op update for Untitled Goose Game may have snuck on you. Starting today, you and your co-goose can disturb the peace together with a free update.

Developer House House rolled out the update, along with a reminder that the eco-friendly “Lovely Edition” is due next week. That version, for Switch and PlayStation 4, is available for preorder along with the vinyl soundtrack. Today also marks Untitled Goose Game’s debut on Steam.

The co-op update was teased as part of an Indie World presentation for Nintendo Switch. It promised you can play through the full game with a friend, and showed off some of the sneaky shenanigans you can get up to with a partner, like moving boxes together with your combined goose power.

“The important thing is that Untitled Goose Game is a hoot,” James O’Connor wrote in our Untitled Goose Game review. “It’s a comedy game that focuses on making the act of playing it funny, rather than simply being a game that features jokes. Wishing that it was longer speaks to how much fun I had with it. There’s nothing else quite like Untitled Goose Game; it’s charming and cute despite being mean, and both very silly and very clever.”

The Game Awards Coming December 10 As All-Virtual Show

The Game Awards will be held on Thursday, December 10, the shows producers announced today. As usual, it will be held as a free digital livestream, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show runners and host Geoff Keighley are making some significant changes.

Instead of a single live theater audience, The Game Awards 2020 will take place across studios in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London. Those three stages will host award presentations and musical performances. As always, the award show will also debut trailers from game publishers, and drop news of content drops, special game sales, and limited-time demos.

The show is also introducing a new award this year, Innovation in Accessibility. The new category is said to recognize software and developers that add features to help games be enjoyed by a wider audience.

GameSpot spoke with Keighley ahead of the announcement. An interview, edited for length and clarity, can be found below.

GameSpot: How has COVID impacted planning for the show? When did you know that you had to make a plan B and then when did that become plan A?

Keighley: I think in the spring it was obviously clear that things were going to change this year. Initially we were developing a plan B in the spring because we knew likely things were probably going to change. I think we held out hope for a while that we were in December, so maybe over the summer things would get better and we might be able to go back to the traditional model. And then, obviously, I think by July it became clear to us that we were probably going to need to change our approach.

But we had started in the spring thinking of well, what are the other ways we can produce the show? What does it look like? The first question we had to answer was like, “Do we still do the show? What does it look like?” And I talked to all the game company CEOs this summer and just had a very frank conversation about what should the show look like, what’s the right way to approach it.

And there were spots where everyone was like, “No, it’s really important that we do the show and we use this year as an opportunity both to celebrate what games have meant to all of us and the world in 2020, but also maybe try some new things.” And I’ve always dreamed of the show having a presence in Europe and in Asia and this year, because of the unique circumstances, we’re going to be able to have live stages in London and Tokyo, which I’m really, really excited to do.

What lessons did you take from Gamescom Opening Night Live into the Game Awards?

I think the biggest thing for us with Gamescom was learning how to do a show safely with COVID protocols. So our team worked really hard on that, we did an amazing job keeping everybody safe around Gamescom. So that was definitely sort of first learnings there that we’re applying on a much bigger scale to Game Awards, but we normally do open that live in front of 1500 fans in Germany. This year, we did it with me by my lonesome here in Los Angeles. So we figured out how to do things that are very visually oriented. We had a lot of cool screens and whatnot that we used for Gamescom. So it’s going to be different for sure, but I think Gamescom taught us that it is possible to do something with a bit of scale and spectacle and doing it live.

That’s the other thing that from the get-go was really important to me is that we do a live show and not any pre-taped show where we’re telling winners the week before that they won, instead of an acceptance speech. The art–the magic of our show is that live energy of announcing games and showing games for the first time. And Gamescom was a live show and that was, I think, one of the first live events that had been happening in the game industry over the summer.

So how are you coordinating acceptance speeches?

You look at the way the Emmys did it and that’ll be similar to some of our thinking now. We’ll have potentially a live presenter that will introduce the category, but the nominees will join us remotely in most circumstances, I think in terms of being able to accept on video. Because with travel it’s tough. And we also don’t want to have scenarios where it’s like one nominee is there and then the other four are on video. We wouldn’t be telling people in advance: they’d find out live on video conference.

Obviously a big part of the Game Awards is the trailers and game reveals. This year a lot of publishers have been shuffling their plans last minute. So as you’re discussing with publishers what you’re going to show, have you had to pivot and change your own plans?

That’s always my greatest fear, going into these things the expectations are off the charts for fans, right? And I always say I can still do the Game Awards from my bedroom, but what I can’t do is make the games and make the trailers, so that’s where I need the help from all these talented developers around the world. And I think things have definitely been shifting around this year. But very early on, I felt pretty good momentum from the game studios that they thought they would have announcements to share about games.

And there will be hopefully some big AAA blockbuster games that get announced, but also increasingly our show, we’ve been doing things with updates on existing live service games. Or even a couple of years ago, we announced Joker for Smash Brothers. Or a couple years before we did the Zelda DLC.

I think in many ways we’ve probably benefited a little bit from some games that have been delayed a little bit and they were planning to do things earlier this year, but weren’t able to, or they got delayed. So like, “Oh, well, let’s do Game Awards.” That becomes the next big moment to do something in the industry. It’s also a great time because the new consoles will have just come out. We have a big audience. So I’m always cautiously optimistic about the games we’ll have in the show, but I also don’t control the development of these games or what’s happening.

How do you respond to criticism that the Game Awards is focused too much on AAA or more generally that the awards don’t get enough focus?

I think we have a pretty good record of indie games being a big part of our show. Celeste, a few years ago was nominated for Game of the Year. Dead Cells, Cuphead. I mean, we’ve had lots of indie games that get a ton of attention. We also do a couple of new categories, Best Independent Game and Best New Indie Game, which were really cool. We have the biggest games in the world, but also smaller, independent teams that can all be on the same stage together. And that’s what I think makes our show special is that everyone plays together. And I think then all boats rise and these new developers are in front of tens of millions of people, which is exciting, but we still need those really big games. Because honestly, those are the ones that drive a lot of eyeballs too.

What’s a key area of improvement that people give you feedback on last year or in years prior that you wanted to focus on for this year?

I think that’s an important thing for people is the balance between awards and [announcements]. That’s always going to be an ongoing debate and we’re never going to solve that because for some of the audience all they want are announcements and some of the audience just want awards. And to me, again, it’s like the blend of the two is what is the magic alchemy that is our show. But we’re never going to get that balance perfect. It’s always managing it and trying to make it fit right. So that’s feedback we sometimes get.

The other thing that I think is just a general note from fans is they want our show to be as diverse as possible in terms of which games we’re covering, which people in the industry we’re covering. And also, part of our view of going to three cities is let’s be a little more global in our thinking around this show because we make the show in Los Angeles and it’s sometimes seen as U.S.-centric, but it really is a global show. And most of our viewership of the show is outside of the U.S., 50+% come from outside the States. So I think trying to be a little more global in our thinking is important.

Netflix’s The Haunting Of Bly Manor Gets Scary And Sad First Trailer

The full trailer for The Haunting of Bly Manor is here. The Netflix show is the follow-up to 2018’s acclaimed Haunting of Hill House, and it sees many of that show’s cast members return for a different ghost story, this time based on Henry James’s classic horror novella The Turn of the Screw.

The trailer sets up the basic story, in which a man named Henry Wingrave hires a nanny to look after his orphaned niece and nephew on a large, spooky estate–the titular Bly Manor. The trailer suggests the show will have the same melancholy, scary vibe of its predecessor, and while the choice of Motley Crüe’s “Home Sweet Home” as the music in the trailer might seem like an odd choice, this eerie instrumental version really works. Check it out below.

The show stars Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, and T’Nia Miller. It’s co-written and directed by Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, Gerard’s Game) once more, and hits Netflix on October 9.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Flanagan spoke about the similarities between Hill House and Bly Manor, as well as what sets them apart from one another. “At its foundation, the Haunting series is very much about haunted spaces and haunted people,” he said. “The way we make those things dance together is really going to be what’s uniform about Hill House and Bly. Outside of that though, it was really important for all of us not to play the same notes we played for the first season. The first season is very much entrenched in family dynamics and death and grief and loss and child trauma. We all collectively felt like we’d said everything we wanted to say about that.”

No Man’s Sky: Origins Update Changes the Game’s Entire Universe

Hello Games has revealed its latest free update for No Man’s Sky: Origins. The update will effectively rewrite the entire game universe to add more variation, new planets, and much more – without altering user generated content. Origins brings the game to its 3.0 version, and it’s out today.

Announced on the No Man’s Sky website (where you can see the full, enormous list of changes), Origins is 2020’s biggest update so far, and aims to offer a “stranger, richer and more varied universe, with deeper planetary diversity, dramatic new terrain, a host of new creatures, new weather conditions, colossal buildings, and much more.”

Among its many additions, the update adds brand new planets (with more dramatic scenery than previously possible, including active volcanoes), rare systems with multiple stars, a new UI, brand new fauna types and updated behaviours for them, dramatic weather systems (including lightning, fire and gravity storms), planetary NPC encounters, rare planets with entirely synthetic life, and more. On top of all that, giant sand worms have finally become a part of the game, after being teased in No Man’s Sky’s first ever trailer.

For those worried about their creations, these changes won’t touch or harm user-created structures, meaning the worlds around you might change, but your part in them will remain as you left it pre-update.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/23/sean-murray-explains-no-mans-sky-origins”]

Speaking to IGN, creator Sean Murray explained the meaning behind the update’s title, saying: “Origins is, yes, it’s another update, but it’s kind of a new start for us in some ways. And we wanted to get that across, that this isn’t an end. It isn’t just, ‘here is an update with some more content in’. It’s something quite fundamental for us, and that is that we’re adding more diversity, more variation to that universe, which is something that we haven’t really done that much. But also, we’re adding literal new planets. We’re going to birth them into the universe, which is quite a cool thing for us.

“It’s taken us a while to figure out how best to do it and how to make it work. But we have this really nice problem, which is we have this universe that the community owns, right? They’ve built bases on it. They’ve built communities. They’ve gone off and had adventures, made discoveries. And then, we come along and we say, ‘We want to make new planets, new worlds.’ We want to freshen all of this up, and so we were trying to find ways to do that without destroying what’s gone before. And so that’s been one of the ways that we’ve done it, is to just actually make the universe more dense, introduced new worlds, literal new worlds to go off and explore – and that’s the origin.”

There won’t be a given in-game reason for this to have happened, with Murray explaining: “So we talked about lore reasons. But, I don’t know, it’s been done before, that ‘cataclysm update’. And then, every NPC you talk to keeps mentioning the cataclysm. I don’t know. Personally, it doesn’t appeal to me. Because we know what’s happened, and it’s really strange to me for every NPC to suddenly start talking about DLC.”

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/23/no-mans-sky-origins-official-trailer”]

Unlike other recent updates, Origins aims primarily to improve what already exists in No Man’s Sky’s universe, rather than slot new features in around it, something Murray says was a goal because the team now had a sense of the existing game’s limits.

“We have this universe that we built four years ago, and we released it. And we said that thing of, ‘Even we don’t know what’s out there.’ […] People could go out and have this experience and send screenshots, and we would say, ‘Oh, I didn’t know it could do that.’ Or, ‘I haven’t seen that before.’ And then, actually, that hasn’t been true for the last four years for us […] For us to have that moment that I was talking about again, of what we had four years ago, where I will be looking at screenshots for the first time in four years being like, ‘Oh, I didn’t know that was possible.’ That’s the feeling that we want to get back.”

This doesn’t mark the end of 2020’s additions to No Man’s Sky, either, with Murray confirming that – although this has already been the game’s busiest year for updates – there’s more coming this year. “We’re all locked in our houses now,” he laughs. “What else can we do?”

I ask if any of those updates might involve a next-gen version of the game, but that’s one subject Murray won’t be drawn on, saying there’s nothing to announce about that:

“Next-gen is something we’ve been lucky enough to be included in, and have kits and all of that, from the very early days. It’s something I’m super excited about, but I have to say that annoying thing of, ‘We don’t have any announcements at the moment’. We have a big project planned in the future, and that’s part of the reason that we’re excited about next gen, and we’ll see if we’ll have any announcement for No Man’s Sky in the future.”

That “big project” is the huge, ambitious new game Murray mentioned earlier this month. During our talk, he made clear that he’s currently working across both games, but won’t be offering specifics about the new project because the team has “learned our lesson” after discussing No Man’s Sky too early in its development last time around.

No Man’s Sky Studio Won’t Be Talking About Its New Game for a While – But It’s Going to Be Big

Sean Murray is working on Hello Games’ next major game, which he’s hoping will be even larger than his last creation, No Man’s Sky. Exactly what that means is not yet clear, and will likely remain so for some time, because Murray says Hello Games “learned our lesson” after opening up too early about No Man’s Sky.

We first learned about the “huge, ambitious” new game earlier this month. Speaking to IGN ahead of the release of the No Man’s Sky: Origins update, Murray confirmed that he is currently working on both No Man’s Sky and the new game – but Hello Games isn’t discussing specifics about the new project right now.

“I mean, look, we have learned our lesson. We don’t want to start talking about anything too early”, explains Murray, referencing No Man’s Sky’s extremely open (and occasionally controversial) pre-release. “The only reason we talked at all about it was because we released our most recent game, Last Campfire, which was the first thing to come out since No Man’s Sky. It’s done by a separate team that we supported within the studio. But when we talk to press about it, a lot of them came at it from the angle of, ‘Oh, well you did Joe Danger before. You’ve done No Man’s Sky, and I guess you’re doing Joe Danger-size games again.’ […] We didn’t want people to have that impression, because it’s not exactly true.”

Murray makes clear that the new game is aiming to be an even larger project than No Man’s Sky: “I would hope that there’s a line between Joe Danger to No Man’s Sky. And then hopefully, we continue up on that line. Personally, I came away from No Man’s Sky with a lot of hunger going forward for things that we have yet to do and things that we’ve yet to prove. So this project will be a big focus for me and the guys.”

It’s worth noting that size, in this case, does not necessarily mean the scope of the game’s world – No Man’s Sky’s universe is made up of billions of planets, which may just be a difficult marker to beat in literal terms. Instead, Murray is likely referring to the complexity and depth the next game can offer – although what that specifically means remains unknown. He does, however, mention that Hello has next-gen devkits right now, and mentions that the part of the reason the team is excited for new consoles is because of this project.

Closing the discussion, Murray reiterates that Hello Games is a developer more interested in major new projects than smaller experiments after No Man’s Sky: “As a studio, we definitely are very focused on doing new, big, ambitious things.”

As for right now, Murray’s been concentrating on No Man’s Sky: Origins, the game’s 3.0 update that adds a huge amount of variety to the game’s existing universe, including new terrain, weather effects and more. It also adds giant sand worms for the first time, which is just amazing.
